Just made this. I am a curry addict. This was fabulous. The taste is excellent. Not hot so good for most. I reduced it to quite a thick consistency. That’s how I like it. Don’t leave out the sugar as this seems to balance any sharpness of some of the ingredients. Has the taste of what I know to be a “staff curry” used in takeaways to keep the staff fed. Excellent. 🎉
I made this curry with a few adjustments. I didn't add in too much water as I substituted it with fresh tomatoes from my garden. I didn't have green chillies or a cinnamon stick but used all the other ingredients and instead added dried chillies at start. My family absolutely loved it and said it was restaurant quality. They said it was the best curry they've ever had! I also made my own Naan bread which was delicious. The tip about the onions really made a difference. Thank you so much for sharing this recipe. What a great cook you are.
Thanks for the lovely recipe. I love making food from many parts of the world and also from my own part of the world. So much to explore and enjoy. But every time I decide to try another version of Indian curry dish, I am especially excited. Lamb curry has always been my favorite. Why is that, I ask myself? First of all, it never fails. You must really be clumsy to screw up a curry. The curry concept is so well thought out and almost waterproof. Thousands of years of profound experience and tradition went before . Of course it can get totally out of control, if you add far too much chilli or too many cloves or cumin, but the tolerance is quite high. And for this lovely curry of yours, I did not have coriander seeds to ground. But hey, it will be fine without, so I used a little mustard seed instead. I didn't have fresh coriander either, but I had parselly, and that will be fine too. But following a recipe like this one is almost guaranteed to be a success. The Indian cuisine is said to be one of the main cuisines of the World - the Indian, the French, the Turkish and the Chinese. Anyway, that is what some experts claim. I think, that these so-called experts forgot to include the South American cuisine, that was there long before the Spanish came. We must remember, that potatoes, cocoa, bananas, tomatoes,, tobacco, bell peppers ... AND chilli peppers all came from there.
I’ve been making Indian/Bangladeshi food over 40 yrs now and each time I seem to add more variation of spices to improve the flavour”. Your simple method looks delicious and one I shall try next only difference is I like to use Lamb shoulder” Thank you for this recipe. Eric
Great job. Looks amazing. I’ll definitely be doing this one. Can I please ask… the pan that you used, what type of pan is this? Stainless steel? How do you find it for cooking? Thanks again, and also can suggest a recipe for a 500g block of frozen boneless white fish? Thanks again. Respect to your cooking skills 👍👍👍
Yes it's a stainless steel plan. It's has a heavy bottom. It's good for cooking but has to be heavy bottom. You can do a lot of things with the fish. I will make some videos soon, but a quick suggestion would be, make a curry base with onion, ginger, garlic, curry powder and other spices you like, add coconut milk and then add the fish. Or batter fried fish with curry powder. ❤️❤️
I cooked this recipe as is for a family function and everyone loved it including the kids. The adults have requested for a 'hotter' version the next time I cook it. So easy and quick.
Thank you very much for the recipe. Before, I used to try other recipes on the internet and they didn't work, but now with your video, I really succeeded ! It's very delicious !
I know it’s not part of the recipe but I have some fresh curry leaves that need using, can I add fresh curry leaves instead of bay or both ? And if so would I do it at the beginning ? Many thanks 🙏
Yes, if you like the curry leaf flavour, can add before adding the onions and also few leaves 10 mins before finishing. Don't skip the bay leaves. 🙂❤️❤️
Hi, Thankyou for this lovely recipe. If using tomatoes, how much would you need for 1 kg lamb ? Would you use tomatoes and yoghurt together for lamb curry, or only 1 or the other ?
I have attempted many curries with some hits & misses. This is such an uncomplicated recipe with easy to follow video that I couldn't go wrong. And I didn't, compliments from all the family thanks to you. Just one thing, I have always associated lamb curry with tomatoes but you dont use any. Any reason why? Hopefully this is the first of many of your recipes I will try. Keep up the good work👍

Nice recipe! I cook and enjoy goat curry. However, the lamb has a weird smell. How can I get rid of the smell? Please advise. Thank you.
Thanks. You can use goat for this curry too. Try marination the lamb in yogurt for an hour or more. It should help. 👍❤️❤️

Thank you will definitely try it I’ve been looking for an easy lamb recipe! ❤ You’re sooo beautiful by the way 😍 #girlcrush xx
Thanks 🙂❤️❤️
Do we need to boil the lamb before marinating?
No. I am using new zealand lamb which is very tender. If you are worried about tenderizing, use a pressure cooker or cook for longer till tender. 🙂👍❤️
How long did u cook the lamb for? An hour and half ?
Approximately an hour. But it will depend on your lamb. You can also use a pressure cooker which will make it shorter. 👍❤️❤️
How long does it take for lamb to cook?
Around 50 mins to 1 hour. I am using new zealand lamb which is quite tender so it will vary.👍❤️❤️
Would you add any vegetables to this?
Yes, you can. Potatoes, peas, Cauliflower, bell peppers etc. 🙂❤️❤️
Made this curry and I’m reasonably pleased but still had onions floating around at the time of serving. Can anybody advise please. Thanks ?
Onion will melt into the gravy if you fry at low and slow till they are golden brown. Or you could also make a paste before adding the onions 👍🙂❤️❤️
excellent video
Thank you 👍❤️❤️
Nice and Easy!
You are both a good cook and beautiful lady.
Thanks :-)
When did she add the garlic?
It's in the marinade 🙂❤️
Wow nice.
Thanks ❤️❤️
How many servings does this have ?
It's 1 kg of lamb or around 2 pounds. Should easily feed 4 to 6 people depending on how much they like lamb 🙂❤️
Wow
❤️❤️
how long to marinate the lamb?
As long as it takes to prepare the ingredients or 2 hours to overnight if you have time. 🙂👍❤️
@@SharMissCooking thank you, it was only two hours. I'm going to try longer next time,
10-12 months

I though u have to cook ot much longer to get the soft meat.i will try but i never have all the ingredients and cant b bother marinating lol
Many dishes can be made without the long marination. 🙂 Give it a try. 🙂❤️❤️
Why didn't you use zeera (cumin) with the whole spice.. any reason?
I have used cumin powder. In the whole spices I feel it is better without cumin. 🙂❤️❤️
You did not add tomatoes. Why?
I have used yogurt, which gives more richness and tartness, so there is no need for tomatoes👍❤️❤️

My take on the recipe:
Lamb Curry
ua-cam.com/video/5t8mmAQkXWc/v-deo.html SharMissCooking
Ingredients
For Marination -
• 1 kg lamb (2.2 lbs)
• 1/2 cup yogurt or curd
• salt
• 2 tsp Kashmiri chilli powder
• 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste (Prefer fresh but can use store bought)
• 2 green chilis
• 2 tbsp coriander powder
• 1 tsp cumin powder
• 2 tsp turmeric
• 1/2 tsp garam masala
For the gravy -
• 3 tbsp oil
• 4 green cardamoms
• 1 inch cinnamon stick
• 5 cloves (Cardamom, cinnamon and Cloves can be replaced with additional 1/2 tsp of Garam Masala, but whole spices are preferred)
• 5 bay leaves
• 2 large onions thinly sliced
• Marinated lamb
• 1/2 tsp garam masala as finishing spice
• Cilantro/Coriander for garnishing
Directions
1. Mash ginger, garlic, chilies and salt to make a paste in a mortar and pestle.
2. Make lamb marinade: lamb, half of the garam masala, yogurt, salt, ginger-garlic-chilli paste, coriander powder, cumin, turmeric, chilli powder and mix well together. Marinate for 15 minutes or up to overnight in the fridge.
3. Prepare the onions: remove core, slice thinly, open up. Start a hot pan with oil and add bay leaves, cinnamon, cardamon and cloves until fragrant. Add onions, browning until golden, but do not burn or it will be bitter.
4. Add lamb and fry until oil separates. Once that occurs, uncover and allow liquid to evaporate.
5. Add hot water to make gravy. Reduce heat and simmer until lamb is tender. Add a pinch of sugar and remove whole spices. Add the last garam masala, stir to combine and add chopped cilantro.
Awesome 👍❤️❤️❤️
Weird not one ingredient is actually curry lol.
wow you're pretty
I Am Not Cooking in Steel pot!
How is this so brown without tomato? Mine looks yellow. Nothing like yours or what I normally make.
Could be a few reasons, if you fry the onions less, or could be the spices, chillies etc. Hopefully comes out better next time 🙂👍❤️
