Minecraft Trigger Command [1.19] Tutorial

- Learn how to set up/enable the /trigger command in this Minecraft command tutorial for 1.16+ (working in 1.19). I'll show you how to avoid "you cannot trigger this objective yet" (that's where most people get stuck.) /trigger is the closest thing we've got to custom commands in vanilla Minecraft. It's used a lot in /tellraw and books, whenever you want a non-op player to be able to do something via commands. The tricky thing is enabling it. When you first add the criteria it will need to be enabled on a player by player basis. You'll learn how to do that in this video!

In this minecraft /trigger command tutorial you'll learn how to enable the trigger command in minecraft! learn how to enable an objective or how to use /scoreboard players enable! I'll show you how to make a kill command in vanilla. This is useful for things like /tellraw, clickable signs, command books, and all that. This is a very easy command, but it can be confusing for beginners. As always I recommend doing this in a datapack, and learning how to make a datapack. Many people use this command for teleporting hope, or to tp home/teleport home or to spawn. E.G /trigger home, or /trigger warp. This video shows how to set up a /trigger kill, so that deopped players can respawn. This tutorial is made for java edition (but bedrock is fairly similar I think), and works for versions 1.13+ (including 1.18, 1.17, 1.16, 1.16.1, 1.16.2, 1.16.3). Enjoy! ~Metadata Soupsmith - Ігри

I had used trigger a ton a long time ago, but I'm getting back into Minecraft and my "language of the gods" that people know as "command block speak" is really rusty... This was such a refresher of a video that got my memory jogged just a few moments in. I love the way you divvy your video, and honestly. You've earned yourself a new subscriber my friend!
I am now a datapack creator, I made the TNT Mod and Siege Mode, and it was all inspired by Legitimoose
:D
@@Legitimoose I am trying to make a datapack to use in my fantasy themed server. (Give elves speed and jump boost, hobbits speed and invisibility etc). How do I make this in a datapack? Do you have a tutorial to how to write code?
@@sergiosdarlasis437 im not legitimoose, but id say when you select your race, have each race as its own team, and have the command /effect give @e[team=(your race, in this case elves) speed (infinite just put more than 100 minutes) (speed level) and another which is a chain command block which is an exact copy but for jump boost, this makes it so when someone chooses the elf race, the command gives anyone whose the elf race (aka elf team) is given jump boost and speed while all other races do not get it. but im still relatively new and am really late so if you decide to try it tell me if its what you were looking for!
P.S, this is optional but right after the level of the effect it will ask for an input for weither you want to hide effect particles or not, you dont have to but i'd suggest to, and to do so simply write true at the end.
wow your vids are highly underrated. you are my go to youtuber when it comes to learning commands. i like how you use humor in learning commands. it makes learning commands way more fun :)
i honestly don't understand how this channel doesn't have minimally 1mil subs yet
it's ok, all 12 dedicated command block creators are subscribed

Thanks SO MUCH!!! This was SO helpful, I've been struggling on a map for a long time, this totally solved all my problems! This was super easy to understand, and very in-depth! Thanks!
One of the best tutorials I have found for this!
Fun fact: You can also copy your world so if it goes wrong then you have another world to try again.
Ok, not only was this actually genuinely helpful, it was entertaining as well. Love the humour.
This is the best video to create a command. THANKS YOU SO SO MUCH !!!
Thanks! This was quite helpful!
One of better channels of tutorials

Thank you! I'll keep makin' em, just for you :D
You're probably the most dedicated Minecraft command tutorials youtuber
Omg how have I just found this video
This is so helpful all the time when I try find something like this I have to open up other code and all that stuff but this is just straight vanilla
I forgot a command, went to look it up and somehow got this video.....I walked away forgetting why I came but got alot of new 💡. I've been doing videos for 2 months now and I know the struggle is real lol. Then I find you and can see I'm not the only one. Personally I think your videos are extremely entertaining and orginal and you should if not will be appreciated more. Nice job! I'll be sure to keep an eye on you. Thanks EE

Great tutorials... we have so much we want to add to the Escharon map. Your datapack tute opened some doors for us.
Awesome! Definitely a huge upgrade going from command blocks to datapacks!
Keep the. Good work
I love the Kick's shop music
if you set your kill value to -something with the trigger command it will get to be stuck.
you can add another chain of commands that resets your kill score to 0 if it goes negative.
Thank you, this helped a lot. Definitely earned a sub :D
Glad it helped!
Love your videos!
Thank you!
This dude is soooooo underated.
Thank you, thank you, did a project waaaay back and apparently that enabling setting a number thing is new(ish) and was messing with some old code
You just got like, a subscriber an hour for the past three subs! Congrats!

Hi I recently started working on my first minecraft map. It's a simple project and your videos are the most entertaining and informative I've found. You should make a video on how to use team commands to control the chat if possible
Thank you so much! I'm really glad you like my videos. :D
As for using team commands to control the chat, I'm not _completely_ sure I understand. I'm imagining like server moderation and multiple chat rooms type chat-control. Vanilla has a pretty serious lack of any kind of player chat control unfortunately. I think my /team tutorial covered 90% of what you can do with teams. I love getting suggestions though! It's super helpful to know what kinds of things my viewers want to learn.
i used to be incredibly command savvy back in the old says of minecraft and i not anymore :/ trying to get back to that state, thanks lol.

I have a suggestion for another video, a command that detects players within a area and if the player is detected, then a command will be issued shortly after. (This command will be very useful for story maps) im still waiting for you to reach 1k so keep it up :3
simplest way is using an /execute at {player} if block ~ ~-1 ~ {block name} run command stuff,
this has a lot of cons buut in the end im not a rocket scientist :P
@Legitimoose Can you make a tutorial video where you show how to use this in a datapack? Like where to write each command?
so in load.mcfunction you put the first command
scoreboard objectives add kill trigger
and in tick.mcfuntion
scoreboard players enable @a kill
kill @a[scores={kill=1..}]
scoreboard players reset @a[scores={kill=1..}] kill
Omg finally custom commands
Me when I got my self in death loop “nooooooooooooooooooo”
Thx , this is the most likes I have ever had

It Will Be More Terrifying If You Place The Command Block In The Forceload Chunks
THANK YOU
I actually got myself in a deathloop using the datapack, so I couldn't help laughing from knowing I would have softlocked my favorite world if I had used commandblocks
This video is awesome. Btw, can you make a video on doing the same commands but in a datapack? Thanks!
Just slap the same 3 commands in a function that runs every tick!
Thank uou legitmoose
You're welcome!
hey @Legitimoose,
So, you're saying if we reset the "kill" objective for @a (meaning all players) it will disable it. But resetting it for a specific one with @a[scores={kill=1..}] (meaning just the player with the "kill" objective equals 1) it will just reset the value.
isn't it better to just set it to 0 ?
you could also set chain blocks to conditional and it will also work
Just make the Reset command block "conditional" then it will only activate If the previous command was triggered
Can u make a tutorial on how to code the function startgame in command block
thx so much
Can you make a video about "5 or 10 Useful commands using Command Block for sever (java)" can't find any of them , hope you make one.
If there's any way other than using Command Block, then I'm happy if there's one
will this work even if the command block is very far away from the nearest player? (let’s say the nearest player is 10k blocks away). Not sure if command blocks function even if the chunk it is placed on isn’t loaded.
Can you make a stopwatch in this way then?
the thing i am wondering about the data packs is, how do you make chaining commands in a datapack?
every line you can write a command
whenever im usin repeating command blocks that usses /kill , i put them in the "needs redstone" option and use a BUTTON to test it, this way, if i mess up, it wont be irreversible.
and once ive solved the problem, i enable"always active"
Hey when my scoreboard goes to 1, it immediately resets to 0 without activating the kill command what do I do?
I need to use a command which requires no selector, The command is /worldborder add 2 how ould i do this?
Does the "kill" trigger command kills all players or only the player that typed in the trigger command?
i have q about command I want when I throw item it activate command how i can do it
how can you do it in datapack
can you make a tutorial on that?
Hey legitimoose, can you please specify where I put the trigger command in my datapack? Like do I put it in tick.mcfunction or load.mcfunction?
so in load.mcfunction you put the first command
scoreboard objectives add kill trigger
and in tick.mcfuntion
scoreboard players enable @a kill
kill @a[scores={kill=1..}]
scoreboard players reset @a[scores={kill=1..}] kill
I'm trying to make a thing that if I drop a Emerald it dissapears and gives someone a effect but it doesn't work how do I make it
does this work for 1.20.5 also can you pls do a video on the new 1.20.5 changes to commands
how do you do the second and last command for tagged people
is there a way that if i wear some kind of armor, the command block activates?
instead of adding that last command block, you can set the second command block to conditional
so how do i do this without op, if i need op... to add myself?
Subbed
6:06 This is Requiem
get this person their silver play button
I need a way to tell if someone enters a biome and start a command
Nice
How do you remove the sidebar though
Is there a command to detect which player does something first?
For example,
Player A did something first = x points to the scoreboard
then,
Player B did the same thing, but is not the first one to do so = x-1 points to the scoreboard
Idk if this makes sense but
PA (Player A) Gets 1 point
NEXT COMMAND
PB (Player B) Gets -1 point
Hope this helps!
I'm trying to use a trigger to make a type of toggle but can't figure it out. I'm trying to have it that you use the toggle and it displays a title above the actionbar. Anyone got any tips?
Have a second hidden scoreboard for the actual toggling. When you activate the trigger check the other score.
If it's 0 -> Set it to 1 and turn on your actionbar thingy
If it's 1 -> Set it to 0 and turn off your actionbar thingy
That's the idea behind most toggle mechanisms! There are other ways to do it, but this is the easiest to understand I think!
Almost 700!!!!
!!!!!!!
I recently was working on a data pack and tested a kill command on a command block... I was really out of it that day. It ended up killing me every tick, luckily I had auto respawn turned on and was able to run commands in chat. I knew roughly the position of the command block. I used /execute unless block x y z air run say yep to contour the surface. So I'd know where the command block was once I found it I used setblock x y z air and I finally broke free of the death cycle.
Hi there, can u do a tutorial about, if its day than give u blindness?
Actually you can make a predicate with that condition, this channel had a video about them
Or if you are old-fashioned, you could just use a daylight detector to make some redstone system with command blocks
Hello, I have some question, what if the trigger isn't yet activated and also can a function trigger a trigger without it enabled?
if not how do I enable all triggers?
Hi! A function can change a trigger with /scoreboard players set, just like a normal scoreboard. I think to enable all of them you have to enable each individually sadly ;_; You can have it re-enable at the end of it's own function though, to make it a bit more efficient.
Hope this helps!
@@Legitimoose Thank you!!
Sadly we can't have custom command like
/die or /hub
/trigger kill for when you want to "respawn"
how to i make a tp command out of this?
i love your accent so much
Can you teach us how to make a useful thing? Like the compass in dream's manhunt, I think it will help us understand how to put all the commands together. Thanks
That's a good idea! I'd love to make more project-y videos in the future. Incidentally, the manhunt compass is only one command ;^)
/execute at [speedrunner's username] run setworldspawn ~ ~
Slap that in a repeating command block and your manhunt compass is complete! lol
nice
LEGIT MOOSE
good video but i think kill was the worst example to pick as your scoreboard was the exact same formatting and work as the actual command
But what if I write /trigger kill set 0. It won`t work!
I recommend to check whether player used command with storing success of using trigger by command block. If trying was successful, player had not used command. Unless, he did. And then you can do what you want.
it more difficult but it works in any case
How did you set the reborn checkpoint?
/spawnpoint!
How about a home tp one
If something goes wrong, you can always start a server on your pc with commands turned off, break the not working command blocks, then reimport the world back into your game. :)
How do I make this in a datapack?
how to make /trigger kill to /kill ?
you can instead have the command block on a button and press it to see if it works
*guyes hes win!*
