I'm just seeing your video. What I have is the 686-6 talo edition unfluted cylinder 3INCH barrel black and silver wood grips got mine for Christmas 2022. CC every day man it is SWEET BOTH DA- SA IS GREAT 👍🏿🎯👍🏿 NO PROBLEMS 👍🏿
My 686 performance center is on the way and I can't wait to take it to the range.. Thanks for the video... It's awesome... If u hear anything on SL Variant 7 shot .357 Put a shout out.... Thanks..
I'm not going to criticize a guy with a UA-cam channel called "The Ol' 1911" for talking about 1911's. That being said, I have grown fond of the revolver vids and I blame you for my current revolver obsession.
I like my j frame revolver and use it as a back up. The 686 is a little bigger than I like for my secondary weapon but it is a nice piece. I prefer a fluted cylinder but I also don't hate the smooth look. Thanks for reviewing the 686 as it is a viable primary carry gun. I just at the moment do not see myself carrying anything other than my Colt as a primary.
I also have this very same revolver and LUV it... however I am still carrying my 19-3 as I am awaiting my holster to arrive..... and if you are gonna carry a 357, then by God, shoot 357 in it! I have not had any issues but only have 6 boxes of SB357A 158 GR FMJ thru it and 6 cylinders full of Federal 158gr JHP. Gun is a dream to shoot - also changed out the grip
What is the average cost to Flute a Revolver barrel and could your recommend a Gunsmith? These S&W 686 revolvers are Real Workhorses and Pieces of Work! Thumbs UP!
Beautiful gun , something about S&W just sweet . I'm with you if I owned a Wilson I would make it my CCW , lord knows I got the holster for it . Thanks
I like my 686+ standard I almost buy one of this but I bouhgt the Ruger match champion nothing wrong with Smith I really like it but I really love Ruger , I feel the frame more robust in Rugers Revolvers . Nice video man like always.
Thanks! I gotta at some point get a GP100 blued. Or maybe Stainless. I have heard great things about them. I talked to an armored car guard last year that carried the GP100 blued and he had all good things to say.
What do you think about Charter Arms? I took a tour there a year ago. I bought a mag pug to support them in our "great" state of CT. Just wondering what your thoughts are about their products.
That's definitely a nice revolver! Good points about fluted vs. non fluted cylinders, too. The non fluted definitely looks nice, but try a reload & index in a low or no light environment & you may change your preference.
Edit…Now run a 19 carry comp, also a great revolver! Nice looking gun...I sport a 3 inch 686 Plus appendix. Yes it’s a tad heavier but it works for me!
The 627 w/the fluted cylinder is called the Bloodwork gun I think. That one does look sweet. Buddy GunGlutton use to own one! I think he made a vid on his when he owned one
I purchased one of these and after three shots, the hammer flopped back and forth, the trigger remained in the rear position, and I had to return it with live rounds in the cylinder! Performance center has gone down hill!!!
@@jamesmoseley7141 James, I have handled guns since I was 4 years old and have out-shot an entire Battalion of men - I tell you this with the Lord standing in my spirit so you can KNOW it is the absolute truth. Just trying to say what happened when I purchased this exact gun. I returned it to the shop and the owner could not figure out what was wrong with it either, so he sent it back to the Performance Center. I know I would not want to trust my life to it.
Gorgeous revolver. I'm like you, I prefer the fluted cylinder. I grew up a Ruger guy, all of my friends were too. As I've gotten older I prefer the Smith's and I can't put my finger on why.
***** The GP100 was the gun we lusted after as teenagers. It had been a recent addition and damn, it was a sexy and seriously built revolver. I never bought one but I did have an SP101 for several years. I need to get one of the larger revolvers one of these days.
The stocks may appear large but in actuality , it conceals rather easily due to the barrel length and if you have the right IWB holster, a comfortable carry.
When it comes down to it, it's all personal preference. No matter what you choose to carry there will always be ppl saying how they hate it and to not trust it. Just ignore those ppl and carry whatever your most comfortable and shoot the best with. I do love the 686pc though, even the regular 686 would be a great sidearm for when I'm hunting. We don't have bears where I live otherwise I'd carry something a bit bigger
I agree, but man I get a ton of hate from 1911 haters! We do have quite a few bears here in the woods. I've encountered a many but they pose no real threat. I do carry a 10mm Glock if I am in the woods but... I'm actually really considering a 10mm 1911 but I've seen some issues with them so...we'll see. Thanks for the comment
I like the unfluted cylinder look; I wish the j-frame had an offering with one. It might be insignificant but I love a 3" barrel over the 2.5". My logic is that a 3" barrel allows for a full size ejector rod. S&W however seems to avoid 3" PC revolvers like the plague.
I thought there was a special run of a j-frame with an unfluted but maybe not. Well my 586 L-Comp is a PC and its a 3". I haven't touched that gun in so many months...maybe I should do a quick update on that gun.
That's true, I always forget that one falls in the PC category because they don't list it on their website under the PC tab. I think the j-frame did have one but it was back in the early 90s or so, maybe I'll get lucky and Talo will come out with one.
that's a really good point about having two of your carry gun. I know quite a few guys from work who have had to borrow guns when there is breaks so that they can keep working. I've always wanted a snub nose 686 man. this video is not going to help my checking account at all!
Wow borrow a gun!?!?!? Its interesting as one agency here issue 2 custom built 1911s to each officer (they are on the Tactical Unit). Man that must be nice! But then again I guess that is where our tax dollars are going! Yes I see a 686 Snubbie in your future!
TheOl1911 I have the same exact gun and love it , is there any iwb holster you would recommend for it? There isn't many reviews on this gun thx for the video
no prob - its not mine so... my good bud carried his in a Milt Sparks VM-2 however like I said its tough IWB'ing a revolver. But that's what he used. For OWB he used a Kramer belt scabbard in horsehide which almost felt like a kydex holster. Very nice holster. I actually ordered one for my Pug Nose about 2 months ago...still not here.
i went with a 686+ 3 inch because of the full ejector rod do you seem a difference between the short one on the 2.5 inch or pug verses the full ejector rod in a 686 3 inch or longer ?
Yes I have a 586 L-Comp (haven't shot that thing or touched it in months!!!) and you do see/feel the difference between a full length ejector rod vs the stubby one. Casings definitely pop out more positively with the full ejector rod
Just curious, how many rounds (about) do you have out of your "pug nose"? I've kept track of my round count in my Ruger SP101 3" and so far I have not had one issue... I have 1350 rounds through it and I only shoot 357 out of it now.. I have about 300 rounds of 38 sp that I fired out of it when I bought it but that's all. I clean and oil after each use. Ive also changed out the main spring with a Wilson Combat Spring to lighten the trigger pull... But every thing seems to be in good working order even after a 1000 rounds of strictly 357 magnums.. even heavy 357 like underwood ammo and buffalo bore....
I lost count - I got word they are shipping it back to me tomorrow so it should get to me on Friday. Stay tuned on a follow up video. But I'd say at least 2k rounds. Now majority was 38spl. Some +p. Then the majority of 357s has been the Gold Dot Short barrel stuff.
My future designer wheel gun. Leather shoulder harness while dressed to kill in a suit and tie. Too large for hot weather though. Thats for my CZ 2075 Rami. Gorgeous Revolver
I've owned a 686 plus a long time ago and I am surprised it is made by the performance center. They have a 8 shot sñub identical to the one you have except it holds 8. The grips suck. Hogue and Crimson trace make a great grip for the pistol.. The performance center sñub is on a L frame, I wonder if it is a pre 8 shot
Do you know if it’s possible to purchase the wood grip on this model? I own the 8 shot edition but it has a different grip. I’d appreciate any help. Thanks.
really? I have to admit I haven't bought 38 in months. I have a lot on hand but... I've been buying a lot of 45acp and even some 10mm. I am seriously considering a 10mm 1911 but... I see some have issues so... we'll see! Stay tuned
38 special recoil would be about the same, maybe a little less snappy than the 9mm. Either way, both would not be excess for recoil. 357 loads are a different matter...
Ah...oh well. Didn't think to do that and to be quite honest...I haven't touched that 586 L-Comp in soooo long. Maybe I'll do a quickie on it sometime. Just been so focused on the 1911 again.
hahaha, nice! Wow where did you get that Kakadoo vest???? I still wear it. I was under the impression they went belly up? Another company that sent me a bunch of stuff was EOTac pants jackets and vests but their stuff was too 'tactical looking' and they also went belly up.
This is a great revolver. Got mine a couple months ago. Best trigger I've ever pulled. Love it
Love that 686 PC. It's tops on my must have list. Thanks for sharing it with us.
no prob - buddy is actually trading it soon!?!?
That thing is sweet. I love the look and feel
It is sweet but I think he's getting ready to trade it for another 1911
i've got the same gun, it's a beauty. Double action trigger as smooth as silk. Love it
I'm just seeing your video. What I have is the 686-6 talo edition unfluted cylinder 3INCH barrel black and silver wood grips got mine for Christmas 2022. CC every day man it is SWEET BOTH DA- SA IS GREAT 👍🏿🎯👍🏿 NO PROBLEMS 👍🏿
I just received my 686 performance center .357.... I love it....
Fixing to finally order this exact gun can't wait such a awesome piece to own
just picked one of these up as my primary home defense and dog walking gun
Really enjoy your vids. Down to earth and balanced. As for revolvers: don't worry.. you'll be back. ;)
thanks for the kind words! although I do get a ton of hate for both 1911s and revolvers now!? but yeah they will be back.
Love the grips. Great gun
thanks my friend!
My 686 performance center is on the way and I can't wait to take it to the range.. Thanks for the video... It's awesome... If u hear anything on SL Variant 7 shot .357 Put a shout out.... Thanks..
I have one and I love it. I wish they made a version of this gun with a 4 inch barrel tho.
true!
I'm not going to criticize a guy with a UA-cam channel called "The Ol' 1911" for talking about 1911's. That being said, I have grown fond of the revolver vids and I blame you for my current revolver obsession.
LOL - thanks man - hey I get tons of complaints out there. So many 1911 haters! haha. aw well. thanks for watching!
I have an older 4 inch and the trigger is absolutely fabulous
I like my j frame revolver and use it as a back up. The 686 is a little bigger than I like for my secondary weapon but it is a nice piece. Just bought one and love it ! What do you use for a holster OWB ??
Beautiful gun , something about S&W just sweet . I'm with you if I owned a Wilson I would make it my CCW , lord knows I got the holster for it . Thanks
thanks my friend! Nice holster for sure!!!
Ruger has a beautiful/accurate .44 mag/special the Talo RedHawk Kodiak 2.75" revolver. Strong, durable, powerful, versatile and looks.
What do you think about Charter Arms? I took a tour there a year ago. I bought a mag pug to support them in our "great" state of CT. Just wondering what your thoughts are about their products.
Very nice revolver,I like that your talking more about 1911s.Great video.
Don't worry as plenty of more 1911 talk and show and tell to come. I have stuff in the works.
I love that revolver! Thanks for the video.
no prob - i think he's getting ready to trade it for another 1911...
That's definitely a nice revolver! Good points about fluted vs. non fluted cylinders, too. The non fluted definitely looks nice, but try a reload & index in a low or no light environment & you may change your preference.
good thought yes!
Going back and forth between the 686 pc and the 627 pc...don’t you have both. Which do you prefer and why?
Edit…Now run a 19 carry comp, also a great revolver!
Nice looking gun...I sport a 3 inch 686 Plus appendix. Yes it’s a tad heavier but it works for me!
Can you do video on type carry holster s for this type model 686 2 1/2 in barrel ???
It looks like it has a sleeved barrel?
So nice. ....would like a fluted cylinder though.

Yeah, when you have to provide your own pistol there isn't exactly an armory to pull another one from. Not everyone can work for LAPD SWAT. lol

Nice! I don't understand all these wheelies having to go back to S&W. They've been making them for eons, they should have it down by now.
WHOA - there you are! Hope all is well! I just got word my Pug Nose is being shipped back to me tomorrow so I'll have it by Friday...
***** Still doin' it to it out here in the desert. Stay safe!
How to purchess this gun in India . please help me .

why are you talking about round by round? Isn't that a moon clip only gun?
or does the + not have moon clips?
The grip seems huge
Texassnubbiefan what kind of grips are you using on yours
it is... i personally do not like it but he did...
That's what she said..
i had one, beautiful gun but i ended up selling it after i got my R8.
I don't know if he plans to sell it but I think he is going to as he wants another 1911
Sent back to S&W because of trigger problems within only 3,000 rounds? Yikes!
