I own an older Rolex GMT with an aluminum bezel and tried on the Logines GMT and quality wise, I choose Longines!!!!’ I have tried on several Rolex GMTs the newer versions at ADs but choose the Longines…. I disagree about the bezel action. The nautilus has a pin syatem and that is Patek good video 😊. To me this is not a homage and longines improvements are positive.
Great vid. I like this better than the Spirit Zulu. My favorite affordable entry level luxary release of 2023, along with the Conquest. Green and Root Beer are my personal favorites. Btw, I think it wears well on your wrist.
I typically don’t enjoy divers but this watch is gorgeous. It’s unfortunate to hear about that bezel when the movement is stellar and the lume is pretty nice.
Its a beautiful watch overall and wears great on the wrist but the one thing that just didn’t sit right to me visually was the 6 and 9 hour markers being small circles and the rest of the rectangular indices being larger than that ! Also if they could quickly make a non gmt version( or a no-date but that would be asking for too much haha) that would be a great buy tbh
The indices were a nod to one of their historical references but they didn’t mention it in any of their literature (in true Longines modesty), so it’s totally lost on people. Even so I totally agree that it would look better with consistent indices. Though I have also heard it said that watches without a weird quirk tend not to connect with people for being too boring so who knows 🤷♂️ I’m sure they did it very consciously in any case
I think this has been way overblown. Yes, circles at 9 and 3 would be better, with the date window at 6, but the Submariner is similar, though admittedly with an oblong date window that matches up a bit better.
So did anybody get both the Spirit Zulu and the Hydroconquest GMT? Here a year later its still hard to pick a favorite. One a bit more dressy and one a bit more sporty.
You're not the only one to be semi-disappointed. Pretty much the same 2 things most of the time. I had a chance to experience in person at an Longines AD. 1) Bezel action kind of sucks.. it just doesn't feel as refined as you'd think it should be.. it doesn't have to be the greatest bezel action ever, it's just lacking and feels sort of unrefined. 2) Don't like how the GMT hand shutters when you jump the hour hand. IDK if this is actually a common effect on traveler's GMT movements? But, it kind of cheapens the experience,,, granted the times I'd personally ever use it would be far and few between. Still, I feel the GMT hand should stay stable and not do a small wiggle like it's got the cold pee shakes when the main hour hand jump sets. oh, and I agree I think date would have been better placed and created better symmetry if it were at the 6. I really wanted to like this one. I like the looks of this new Hydroconquest. Have no issues with the swapped traditional round and baton marker positions. I think maybe if they work on at least those 2 things above it may be worth revisiting later.

It’s possible to scratch the top coating even though it’s sapphire underneath. I haven’t had it happen on my watches but it can and does happen. It does produce a very clear look though, but it’s a trade off some don’t want to make.
I own it and the bezel is the only thing I don’t like about this watch. Everything else about this watch is amazing!! I like that the GMT hand and accents are light blue instead of orange or red like most other blue gmts on the market and the different shapes make it unique without being too busy.
A trivial warning : GMT movements often do not have date adjust function. I repeat, you cannot set the date directly. The only way to change the date, is to turn the local time enough to advance/retreat the date. Quite cumbersome method to set the date!! So if you are considering this for an “occasional watch to pickup, set and go”, keep in mind that it will be inconvenient. Consider keeping this watch in a winder.
@@jayjayhooksch1 i haven't been asked for the time in decades, and even if it happened it would be more of a reflex to pick up the phone that to check my wristwatch
@@fredriksvard2603 I was asked the time a couple weeks ago. I remember because it stood out as odd to me that someone would be out and about without access to the time, without a cellphone basically. Hi, in the video I see that the date change does not occur at 24 hours, but the date change occurs gradually between 10 pm and 2 am. Is this normal or is it a defect?
That's a bummer about the bezel, but if I'm being honest with myself, I don't mess with mine. I'm not one of those people that uses dive bezels as sort of fidget spinners. The style of the markers used threw me off when these first came out, but I've grown to like them. I'd also love if the date was at 6 o'clock, but it doesn't bother me too much. The blue is great, and I love that they have a quick adjust clasp. If only the Spirit/Zulu Time line had that too, that would just be perfect. It's impressive to see the accuracy, even without that COSC certification. All in all, I think this is a nice offering and a flyer GMT that is under 13mm while also having 300m of water resistance is just spectacular.
Its the same with the spirit gmt ua-cam.com/video/h5J96yLWkjU/v-deo.html this movement has a slow change over and people in the comments shared their experience. If I remember correct the spirit changes at 1:30am YMMV
Why does the GMT hand wobble when you set the time? Sloppy job by Longines. Also, to make this look more luxurious the log should be applied and the date frame should be in silver not just painted.
This is a nice review of a nice watch. The edge of the bezel is where, for me, Longines missed the mark with this watch. The bezel edge on the hydroconquest GMT is reminiscent of a Seiko, whereas that of the Longines Zulu is more Tudor like. It the hydroconquest used the same bezel edge as the Zulu with its current bezel markings … that would have been the watch to buy.
Watch is actually perfect on you. I notice watch enthusiasts have become obsessed with very small watches. Yes, nobody wants a clown watch but you have plenty of space on your wrist either side of the lug
Longines is killin it with this new design! I've never been a big fan of Arabics.
The best bang for your buck brand.. hands down! Already have a Hydroconquest, might have to pick one of these up next year!🧐

What a BEAUTY!
My 2018 Hydroconquest on rubber strap is my favourite watch
It's also the lugs that made it look like a Sub and overall case shape.
So did anybody get both the Spirit Zulu and the Hydroconquest GMT? Here a year later its still hard to pick a favorite. One a bit more dressy and one a bit more sporty.
I am waiting for the 39mm one
Will they make 39mm of this one
I need a non GMT of this watch!!!
Agreed. GMT is claptrap
I like it! I think I like the pilot/field watch look of the 39mm Zulu Time better, though!
The blue rubber is a completely different shade of blue than the dial and bezel. On the regular HydroConquest, the rubber fits better.

I don't understand why the anti reflective would turn away buyers on a flat crystal. Please explain.
because the coating itself can scratch and make it look like your sapphire is all scratched up.

Blue on rubber for me because I already have a sub.
It’s a great watch except for the price, they should have kept the old price point.

It looks great but it seems to have a fair amount of flaws and cost cutting.
Fair enough!
Novice question : why is double AR coating a bad thing?
The coating becomes scratched eventually and defeats the purpose of a sapphire crystal.
