31:03 As you can see, Luigi picks up baby Luigi so that baby Luigi will be on Luigi’s back and thus, no longer in the crying animation. An expert move on Luigi’s part right there.
1:16:10 Princess Shroob sits in her castle, admiring the view from below, a Shroob Elite walks up to her, “Princess Shroob, the enemy has gathered two of the shards, if they obtain more they break the castle gates.” The princess laughed evilly, “Ah but that’s the plan, we want them to gather the shards, then when they least expect it, sister will break free and destroy them.” She takes a sip from her goblet. Another Elite runs up, panicking, “Your majesty they’ve broke through the castle gates!” Princess Shroob spits out the tea, “Wait what?! The gate can be only broken by 5 shards!” The Elite Shroob shrank, “They didn’t use the shards, they just kinda... clipped in.”
It is incredibly cathartic to see younger Princess Shroob, a boss which I once spent over two hours fighting against in a single sitting but still couldn't beat, get killed in two minutes by a single red shell. Thank you.
Nikx Neon i also got stuck in the last boss thnks to the idiot devs, the helper says "you cant go back past this point" and theres a fucking save point a little further !!! absurd...

Masters and young masters, you seem to be in quite the pickle now! This Elder Princess seems to be quite th beast to tackle! Shall we review your Action Commands to make sure you are prepared? >Yes >Yes
@DarkCoreX Yeah I thought so. I think they do that cannon thing in the speedrun instead where they fall from the sky? I forgot what it's called, but it still looked insane.
I actually did this as a kid. Granted, I no lifed the shit out this game for HUNDREDS of hours when it first came out, especially when it came to red shells on ground bosses. I'd Copy Flower the shield and Red Shell both princesses in one turn for 2000+ damage (of course I did the EPS battle differently as it has much different mechanics).
I usually would skim through those speedruns, but all the interesting comments made this so enjoyable to follow from start to end. Partners in Time is a game that I enjoyed (and honestly was quite terrified of, Shroobs are scary) a lot as a kid, seeing it been beaten in less than 2 hours is so impressive, great TAS!
Why does literally every video game have a mythical "Palace Skip"? (Except for Super Mario Sunshine, where they tried ridiculously hard to skip a fruit cart.)
thats not really true. Although it is kinda funny the amount of Mario RPG's with huge skips. However, other games are just in general broken (ex: Paper Mario). In these games the large time saves are caused by multiple relatively smaller skips
Yeah, accessing Corona Mountain early would essentially be a whole _game_ skip. It'd be cool, but it's not like Gate Skip or Barrier Skip where the idea is "we just need to get past this wall!" Corona Mountain's loading zone just straight up _does not exist_ without certain triggers, so entering Corona Mountain early isn't a question of movement tricks, but much deeper code-and-game-breaking tricks.
1:40:19 - 1:43:33 I counted 569 successful hits and then the one failed hit to end the copy flower. Not sure if this is correct, but I counted based on 4's and there was an extra successful hit.

So technically this isn't "PAL" because PAL is an acronym for phase altering line, a technology specific to televisions, which the DS is not. For TAS purposes, the European version is tied for the fastest and used mainly for watchability reasons given that the commentary is in English and much of the audience speaks English. You can also do Japanese or Korean and get the same time, the only issue is the North American version which has different enemy stats and whatnot. Technically if you're going for a non-TAS speedrun, Japanese is potentially faster in the event you need to soft-reset the game (such as if you fail to perform money glitch first try) as it reboots the game faster, but TAS doesnt have to worry about that. If you want a game that runs faster specifically on *PAL* hardware, Xenoblade Chronicles for the Wii actually runs much faster on PAL, because while PAL TVs normally run at 50hz instead of 60hz (and thus games run at 5/6 speed), they actually sped up XC1 about 20% to try to make up that difference...but they kinda messed up and made it run faster than even NTSC. Also for the record, PAL and NTSC refer to analog televisions, modern gaming doesnt have this issue anymore because TVs and monitors use digital video rather than analog, usually via HDMI cables.

Also for the record, PAL and NTSC refer to analog televisions, modern gaming doesnt have this issue anymore because TVs and monitors use digital video rather than analog, usually via HDMI cables.
i never realised how this game's story and soundtrack were dark sometimes
