- In this video, I review my GX1000 and the PS Stix Woodshop. Everyone has heard the PS Stix rumour right? But that didn't stop me from grabbing this GX1000 skateboard to skate. But how did the PS Stix wood quality hold up on this GX 1000 deck?

TITLE: PS Stix & GX 1000 Review & Wear Test
All I skate the past 2 years is gx boards, I love them. They’re perfect for me and the way I skate
I think I got to go back and try one again. They are really nice.
@@Damoforce do they last long? or do they get soggy
I enjoy quasi, and I haven’t experienced these issues with their decks but that also could because I’ve only skated three of their decks. They do flex a bit and I did snap one of them after a rather short period
That flex is just a PS Stix thing I think. The WND ended up doing it a little too after 4 weeks. Quasi does look tempting!
I’ve had this deck sat in my wardrobe since last year and yet to skate almost always skated deathwish 8.5s past two years and thought would cop that make a change then I stopped for a while but definitely thinking of maybe just sticking with deathwish after your video! Thank you for your info man!
Glad I could help! Always been keen on a Deathwish, but not sure on the shape and steepness for me
Never heard about it actually. Thanks for sharing this, really helpful!!
Glad it was helpful!
I like it you give a good full view of the shape of the deck.
I'll end up grabbing another one day, nice deck. Something new coming soon though
i've had ps stix boards in the past and they were fine, it was a long time ago. i think dsm makes the best boards in the game, especially the almost impact and resin 7 boards. stay stiff, probably too stiff for some folks, but i like it. and keep their pop. i have an almost double impact on one of my setups, i don't think they've even made them since 2015 or so, so it's old. you can see the second ply showing through on the nose from noseslides and it's still stiff and poppy. it's gonna end up dying from razor tail, wearing the tails down to nubs.
Agree with those Impact boards, they last a looonnngg time!!
For some reason all of my gx1000 boards have chipped like this but I actually really liked skating it I wish it lasted longer
Same!! A pleasure to ride
Great review again, dude!
What has been your fave deck so far?
Thanks dude! Hmm tough one, maybe the Hockey. I skated that the longest and loved the shape. This GX would be close without the little issues. Girl was also good!
this is some good info. great video/review 🤙
Thanks Danny 🥰
One reason some decks get soggy quickly is because of the concave. The more mellow the concave, the faster it loses pop. I don't think Ps stix has worse wood than other shops, but they do make a lot of mellow concave decks.
I've heard that too. Same with steeper kicked decks too. But in saying that. I've had a full concave deck sog out in 2 weeks and a mellow Girl deck keep trucking for 6.
yeah, there's definitely a lot of factors that affect a deck's lifespan. I pretty much only skate mellow concave and im stoked if a deck lasts 5 weeks. unfortunately, most don't last that long for me
Any deck that was pressed with modern methods, should keep the pop regardless of steep or mellow concave. It is actually the quality of wood that is usually the issue if a deck's pop lasts only like 2 weeks. It is true that steeper decks keep their rigidity longer, but that does not always translate to higher or longer pop at all. And no, PS decks aren't always more mellow. Not to mention how some people swear by PS decks 'for their pop'. IMHO PS decks are insanely overrated. I tend to avoid them honestly.
When I went up a to a 8.4 my Tre flips sucked and I pretty much lost them until I went back to a 8.125 and low trucks.
Yeah that big board would make it tougher to scoop around for sure!
I had 3 gx boards. 2 of them were twisted, this is very annoying. The first one that I had was 8.2 and had a really bad twisted shape. The one that I’m riding now (8.3) is a bit twisted too, like it has the right side with more concave and the trucks are leaning more into a side, like you can see the wheels perfectly fitting in only one side and in the other side wheels are less visibles
Wow, that's really odd. Disappointing
Happened to me too. It’s kept me from buying another GX board sadly
I like the look of that shape. No worries for tre's for me because I can't land them lol.
Shape is nice and full. My favourite! Haha me too, like a drunken octopus when attempting haha
Have you tried a Real 8.25 Full SE? That's my favourite deck.
They have a good full shape, not as steep as an FA or Hockey, plus you can't go wrong with that BBS/DLX wood!
No I have not, I have tried a Real deck before. But I just looked and there are alot more Full SE shapes being dropped now, so might look into one soon!
he deserves more likes and views tbh
☺😍
If you love full noses you have got try a quasi I found quasi back in 2017 and bro I’ve been addicted but I can only find them online not to many shops carry quasi
I do enjoy a Quasi, might be my next one after what I'm about to jump on - thanks 😀
The Quasi shape is amazing but I broke it doing flatground tricks..
The shape sounds like it's great, that's worrying though for me - flatground 😫
Personally, the Wknd I had was way the worst deck I rode in 34 years. But it might be due to it's shape and flatness.I rode great PS before and I liked em.
Yeah, if you don't like flat boards this isn't for you. I think they are the flattest I've skated.
I have the ps stix moth man board it ironic bc I live in point pleasant
Is that the Welcome board? Looks sick!
Some homies who have ScumCo and Techne decks from PS Stix found the same result. Boards got soggy rather quickly. Graphics were sick though.
Never actually heard of those ones lol. My WKND was good about to try Quasi to see out of 3 what's the ledger will be lol
I have a scumco from their last PS drop before they changed the woodshop. I am very content with the board. It is very light deck which i like a lot, but the wood is kind of softerand has some flex that worried me a bit, coz i am used to more stiffer decks, but it actually held pretty well. I have skated it this whole winter and last week decided to use it again as a cruiser board. Best shape ever. It desnt hold the good pop as Polar or Anti Hero which are BBS manufacturing, but it definity is better than Magenta, that is also BBS.
@@xitsox oh my dude!! Thanks so much for the thorough reply. It is appreciated. The latest GX1000 drop looks really rad. Most of my decks are BBS I believe. I’ll be sure to skip out on Magenta decks. Again Thank You for the help.
Ps Stix (Plan B) break often even on tv. Aurelien broke his board in the Olympics and it cost him 1 try. SLS was no different.
I think I also saw at Paris Conquest he broke one too.
@@Damoforce I had one breaking in the first 4 days skating on a lipslide on a freaking parking block and they didn't refund me. Love the team but I'm not going back
@@MickyThunderV Wow, shame they didn't replace. I had a Toy Machine break in 3 days they replaced. Plan B do have a good team. Shame though :(
Can't say the PS decks I've ridden have ever had these problems man, I ride welcome decks almost exclusively now and they last me ages.
Welcome has recently changed over to BBS, so just check on your decks in the future! I love the look of some of their shapes.
you can plant a tree with quasi shuvle deck😃
😂😂 Ain't that the truth!!
I'm pretty sure Thank you decks (Daewon and Tory) are made by PS as well. I was going to try one but if that's the case.. 🤔
I seem to always fall back onto Almost decks. I prefer that rounded popsicle shape and they stay stiff long enough for my type of skating. Plus I don't mind the impact light and Uber light for even longer stiffness and pop.
I had the impact light, durable af!! I just got a Thank You deck, more so for the wall though. They look nice on the shape and kicks though
@@Damoforce Nice. I'm still tempted to try one. I wish I got their signed glow in the dark zombie deck for the wall a while back.
@@mwboost Yeah, that Zombie deck was sick! I just got the Tiki one of Torey, may get the Song if around in a week or so
@@Damoforce Oh nice! There's a few signed decks on ebay but I'm to tight to spend right now haha.
Looks just like a Quasi
dude, you skated only one gx board and now you judge it by its general quality because you chipped it. You might chipped it because you did not land a lot of tre flips while skating on asphalt. This is how that chip looks to me. Boards also get soggy from razor tail (again skating a bunch on rough asphalt) and not by the quality of wood. Although a mellow concave could have impact on that, you should still be able to tricks with a soggy board. I love mine this way even more!! The flex helps with popping, it only needs a little adjustment of the timing...
It's not judged 100% on how it chipped. I chipped my Hockey deck too and a few others. Really solid deck, reminds me of the WKND I'm on now and I got my friend onto a GX
PS are making GX 1000 decks now... right?
They used to be, but now they seem to be coming out of BBS
i didnt like my gx i usually skate fa
GX is super flat compared to FA imo. That could be why
@@Damoforce yea tru
the deck also made me lose my kickflips
This deck or PS Stix in general?
@@Damoforce i just started skateing a gx1000 board i’ve never skated a ps stix board before. i think it’s because of how steep the concave is with the full shape and when you pop the board feels close to vertical already
Yeah those steep concave full nose decks always throw off my kick flips for a like a week honestly I think I’m gonna just stick with a more medium concave seems to work better
GX1000 have incedibly boring graphics in my opinion. Never ridden one. The only PS Stix deck I’ve ridden was a Toy Machine. I did find that it sogged out rather quickly and I also really struggled to like it. But I did do a bit of boardslide attempts on it and did land a bit heavy probably because I was trying to learn them but even when I started those the deck still felt a bit flexy. It’s my current rain board now.
Yeah the GX1000 graphics are not ground breaking lol, but they do the trick. My Toy Machine didn't even make it past 3 days lol
Mine hold up great it's awesome for flip tricks forsure
That's good to hear! My mates is going the same too.
