I'm a Christian and an RN. I've milled my own wheat berries for bread, and I've tried every way of eating known to man. I know how food affects my body. When one eats too many carbohydrates/sugar, (whole grain or not) eventually it will catch up with them. It usually starts with weight gain, then insulin resistance, which puts one at great risk for diabetes. Often with weight gain, hypertension occurs, which leads to a whole host of problems. Carbs/sugar is what causes plaque in the arteries and not cholesterol. Cholesterol has been demonized, because it's a billion dollar industry. Our body actually makes cholesterol, because it's needed. Also, in biblical days, they didn't eat the way we do, and they didn't travel like we do. Think no electricity, running water, or automobiles. They worked hard all day, and probably only ate 1 or 2 times a day. We can't eat breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks in between for long without it wreaking havoc on our bodies. I know of an 80 year old woman who has been carnivore for 60 years. She's still working a ranch and climbing trees. My stance is when people start having weight or health issues, they need to look very closely at what they eat. The medical industry will not tell you that, but they will gladly offer you a pill for all your ailments. $$$$. Sorry so long, but I'm passionate about this.

Absolutely agree with you that what we eat affects our health! And no, most medical professionals never address this. I do believe SO MANY of our health issues in the USA are due to lifestyle choices. We would be a much healthier country if better lifestyle choices were made.
But like you said - it all comes down to money! Big Pharma can’t patent REAL food so no profit for them. Doctors and hospitals won’t make money if people aren’t sick.

@sherry I disagree with you that cholesterol does not cause artery clogging. Animal fats have been proven to contribute to the clogging of arteries. The Mediterranean diet has been proven to be the healthiest diet and good doctors recommend it particularly for heart patients. Diabetics are going down the wrong path of eating keto and carnivore because legumes are also very healthy for diabetics and whole grains are also good for diabetics because they take longer to digest. The whole issue with poor health is over consumption of foods and eating over processed foods and foods with a lot of preservatives and chemicals. So going back to the basics of whole foods is a starting point that all people will benefit from. Felicia is 100% correct and saying that eliminating an entire food group, the original food group put on this Earth for consumption, is a very bad idea.

@@toconnor6811 Thank you for stating the truth. I agree with you and the longterm research. We can feel great on a certain diet and not be aware of what is slowly taking place in our bodies.
Our own bodies make the cholesterol we need. Animal sources introduce _additional cholesterol._ A component within LDL cholesterol (ApoB) is definitively associated with heart disease. This is not really debatable. Of course this doesn't mean eating meat is 'bad' or not 'ok'. God gave us certain animals for food and it's certainly allowed. Is it the best food for our health? I think He made it pretty clear which foods are the _best_ in the order He gave them and the life spans associated with them. Any food that God has provided is to be received with thanksgiving. Thank you again for stating the truth.

In all fairness, many people who have started keto or carnivore come from backgrounds with physical issues. I have done both keto and carnivore, and felt my health increase substantially. I began milling my own grains to make my own bread for my family and have had nothing but dietary trouble. This is heartbreaking for me because I have been wanting to eat biblically so badly but my body seems to reject it. I am sure to purchase all organic grains from Azure, my family has done well on it, but I am another story.

Please do not be discouraged! God did provide us all of these natural foods - but you are not defying His word if you don't partake of every single food he has provided. I have life threatening nut allergies - I am not in defiance of God's plan by not eating nuts! The gluten issue is being oversimplified because of 2 things: 1) there is not just ONE type of gluten and 2) MAN has forceably crossbred some certain grains in order to breed a wheat grain that meets all the needs of big agriculture - by so doing MAN has messed with what God has provided and created something that is not natural. The gluten issue is not just about eating white flour with no bran and germ - the gluten in modern wheat is completely genetically different from wheat that was just left to nature. My reaction to gluten is not because of white flour - I can't eat whole grain modern wheat either without becoming quite ill! MAN messed with the grain by forced cross hybridizing (todays wheat gluten is D Genome gene, is a very strong gluten, and is a very complex gluten). Einkorn wheat was never touched by man and is completely as it was provided naturally by God... Einkorn wheat gluten is an A Genome gene, is a very simple gluten, and is a very weak gluten. Many of us that cannot eat the modern wheat grain MAN has messed with, are fortunate enough to be able to eat Einkorn wheat as the last fully natural whole wheat grain still genetically existing in the same structure in which God provided it. I wish you all the best!

I was listening to a audio UA-cam video by Bread Beckers and learned that many people do have a reaction from freshly milled grains that can last months. It's because their body can't adjust to it that quickly and more often than not, their body is in the process of releasing toxins. It can be gut pain, brain fog, rash, you name it. In these cases you would have to begin in total moderation. In my honest opinion, the recipes have way too much honey in it and it's still a sugar. No one needs all that sugar in their breads. Just make Italian breads and baguettes with the fresh milled grain and eat in moderation with lots of butter on it. No one needs bread for every meal. The early Isrealites ate only twice a day. 1st meal was light and moderate. The 2nd and last was more substantial and eaten around 4 in the afternoon. No meals after that.

@@renmuffett I am so happy that you mentioned brain fog. For the last month or so I feel like I can’t even form a complete thought half of the time which is not usual for me. I agree about the sugar as well…I will try to make more Italian breads. Thank you!

@@jenniferlee1066You are welcome. I was blown away with the amount of honey in all the recipes I've seen. That much cannot be good. A tablespoon on honey has twice as many calories as a tablespoon of white sugar. Although is lower in glycemic index which is good. But twice as sweet tasting. It's ridiculous to add so much. I tried many of the recipes suggested with fresh milled flour and it's all over sweet. The early Isrealites in the Bible didn't load a bunch of honey in their bread dough. I doubt they used more than a few drops if they even had it on hand every single day. Plus, those people only had 2 meals a day. The 1st was a light breakfast around 9 am. The last meal was usually no later than 4 in the afternoon. Meat in moderation, usually for special events. Another UA-camr has a book about it and talked about it. I hope you feel better soon. I fasted eliminating all carbs for over a year because of a severe gout attack and other issues. But that was so painful. I learned that meat doesn't cause gout. It's from too much high fructose that comes from all sugars.

BUT...the enormous amounts of powedered foods were insane. Many meals we didn’t eat food we drank a powdered meal. Protein came from a powder bought from the "diet" creators. It grew in popularity & continues to push their products that are created to aid in eating right. We walked away from it by listening to God. He got us out of it. We now eat real food. People in ancient times probably did well on grains for the following reasons: they rarely ate much sugar, they had no processed seed oils, they did not snack, and their grains were fermented- allowing them to better extract and absorb nutrients. Bread turns to sugar. When you eat a grain, it is quickly converted in the body to a sugar. Yes, even the organic, whole grain kind! When you eat your slice of 100% whole wheat bread you receive approximately 2 grams of fiber, but you consume 20 grams of carbohydrates (starch and sugar) and 100 calories.

    • @GrainsandGrit
      @GrainsandGrit  5 місяців тому +3

Our body needs glucose to SURVIVE. Just becoming something turns into a sugar does not automatically make it bad. How about we ask WHY something turns into sugar and examine the food.
And to say that I only get 2 grams of fiber from a slice of whole wheat bread tells me you have only read labels from bread from the store which is fake bread. REAL bread has no label and has far more fiber. @@texaspreppermom

Something that is heretical is something that is against Yahweh's commandments, such as eating unclean animals. We weren't commanded that we must eat bread, it's something we are allowed to eat and is good for food. I think it is important to note that choosing to not eat bread isn't heretical in and of itself.
On a different note I think the Keto diet does give some benefits that fasting gives, and I think we've potentially been overeating carbs and sugars to a point that it's bad for us. If we are one of those people, it may be a good option, if not then it may not be.
We are also supposed to be fasting, which almost no one talks about in church.

Agree with you. Yet, a lot of people are blind to the abstract way the Bible does mention a lot of these different types of diets. The different diets are actually an adaptation to seasonal and regional eating that have evolved over the centuries, what foods not to mix together or consume and when to deliberately choose a diet for medical treatment that should be temporary.

As much as I appreciate your oppinion, there are a few things I wish you would have pointed out.
    1. Are you aware that biblical fruits and veggies no longer exist in todays world? It's impossible to eat a biblical diet in the modern world.
    2. Are you aware that the ketogenic diet was invented to heal sick children and it does it very well?
    3. Are you aware that MANY doctors recommend various versions of the ketogenic / carnivore diet? Yes some people add commercial "keto" items that are not good for them. Yes there are people who abuse this simple REAL single ingredient way of eating.
    4. Are you aware that the Lion Diet is a temporary elimination diet used to discover what foods a person is allergic to? It works.
    5. Are you aware that farmers are now spraying poisons on the grains when they are ready to harvest?
    6. Are you aware that MANY people have cured diseases using keto and carnivore diets? (I pray that this video does not keep others from being cured in the future.)
    7. Do you expect us to take the advice of some random woman online over the doctors who are advising us to use these medical diets for improved health?
Following a normal American food pyramid is what is causing heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, strokes, and a multitude of "western diseases" that do not exist in the rest of the world?

If organic wheat is sprayed before harvest, it is disqualified from selling as organic.
The Bible has leeks, melons, pomegranates, olives, figs, dates, grapes, raisins, gourds, cucumbers and onions.
The Lions Diet is pretty much necessary because we here in the USA have done so many things to our food supply that we have more allergies and other issues than any other country or any other time.
I think Felicia is trying to address that issue by pointing to the instruction book for life. If we follow a Biblical diet we are less likely to have dietary issues and disease. The food pyramid is not in the bible either, and you will not find suggestions that we should spray food with harmful chemicals or any of the other shananigans.

A "normal" American diet is full of highly-processed foods and is high carb and high fat. I suspect you could have accomplished a great deal by removing those items and substituting healthier ones. So that doesn't really support NOT eating healthier grains and vegetables.
You can eat whatever works for you, as far as I'm concerned. However, I have run across several people who have gone carnivore and lost weight and claimed it was because they had cut out carbs. The real fact is that they cut out processed foods that were high in carbs / sugars.
At some point, a high protein diet may not work for you. If so, I suspect you can add in some less-processed foods and vegetables (maybe bought from a local farm) and still have health benefits. Just a thought...

I have since changed to not eating unclean foods but this helps me get healthier than any fad diet out there! No processed food or as little as possible. Once in a while I will eat something that is not healthy but that is very rare.

Thanks for the video. I like the balanced approach. I have been on the Keto diet for 6 months and carnivore diet for 7 months and lost 88lbs. One of the reasons that most grains are bad for you are that most of them are GMO and are treated with dangerous pesticides that wouldn’t have been used in Biblical times. And it’s commonly known that many vegetables have anti nutrients.
Unfortunately most of the food we eat these days like bread are not same as bread from biblical times eg unleavened bread. I agree that Jesus is the bread of life but he is also the Lamb, and ruminant meat is great for you 😉, and at Exodus they ate lamb before leaving for the promised land.

What you are stating is against the Word of God: Colossians 2:16 “Therefore let no one pass judgment on you in questions of food and drink, or with regard to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath.” You, yourself, are speaking heresy, by judging and coming against what Paul directly tells us. As I stated in my initial commentary, Colossians 2:16 is crystal clear…we are now under grace (not the law of Moses) and we are to allow no one to judge us (using the law of Moses) in what we choose to consume to nourish our bodies.

      @carolt392 5 місяців тому +6

@@Sar_ahJ Exactly! There is certainly some natural hybridization that occurs in nature, but in the case of our modern wheats, big industry intentionally crossbred and hybridized certain wheat grains and goat grasses to weed out undesirable traits, and emphasize the traits that made a heartier crop with higher yields which then translated into big money. By so doing, these modern wheats have a genetic and gluten structure that is very complex and different from the untouched ancient grains. Todays wheat is a hexaploid wheat with a D Genome gluten type... Einkorn, for example, has never been forcefully hybridized by man and maintains a very simple structure, being a diploid wheat with an A genome gluten type. Modern wheat is nowhere close to being the same as something like Einkorn, which today is still exactly as God created it.

@@GrainsandGrit Yes, keto and carnivore diets _can_ have a cult-like mindset. My friend and I (both Christians who follow a Levitical/biblical diet) did keto together for over a year (I think about 15 months). At that point (about 15 months in) I was starting to have real problems. I would lay down and get tingling in my arms and had a sense of impending doom. I didn't want to quit because I was afraid I would gain weight. I finally listened to my body and quit (around 2018?). My friend did not quit. She died almost a year ago on February 1, 2023. My heart is broken. She had given up fruit, many veggies and of course grain/bread. She drank bone broth everyday and everything else that goes with keto. She was not overweight and looked very healthy but developed two different kinds of cancer in her breast. She was a dear believer and follower of Christ, _a real one._ This lesson has left me heartbroken.
I believe God showed us what the very best foods were from the beginning and also showed us foods that are still allowed but may not be not as good as others. First He gave us fruits (anything with seed in itself where the plant doesn't die when harvested; like from a tree, vine or bush). Everything was perfect. Then we fell. We would be working hard and need stored energy. He gave us things like grains and root vegetables (plants that die when harvested and must be planted again with seed). We need these starches. Then the flood came. He provided food for us after coming off of the ark from the clean animals...and our lifespans began to shorten. All of these foods are good and allowed. Some are better than others but all are God-created and to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth. God bless you sister!

Since I found your channel and some others I have a whole new perspective on diets. Our overly chemical laden world is what makes people sick not the particular foods they eat. Anything pure and whole from God is our food. What we fight now is the nutrients that have been stripped out of grains and plants even the soil and air. It makes me sad that I have to take supplements to help my body get enough. We make almost cv all of our bread from the grains we grind now thanks to you. Well my husband died cause he likes to cook. Some of those medically induced diet trends I am convinced did my body harm over the years.

I thought this was interesting. 1) I'm 53 and eat healthy... whole grain, meat, dairy, fruit, vegetables... very few processed foods, and very little sugar, yet I have a good 20-25 lbs I cannot shed. I exercise, I'm active... but I think going through "the change" had definitely changed my metabolism. We all are created different. As you said, there are some very skinny people who eat terrible. They may look ok, but they have horrible gut issues (I used to be that person). 2) I wanted to add a problem with the low-fat diet, that I think adds to your point. The low-fat processed foods dump in a TON of sugar. Sugar is super addictive. These low-fat diets actually make people gain weight and cause gluttony, which is a sin. Also, this fad since the 80's/90's has caused people to stop learning how to cook and can now only microwave their processed food. Personally, I probably gave a bigger issue with this diet, but I agree and see your points with the others as well.

Respectfully, the bible does speak about food - The New Testament specifically teaches us that the law has been fulfilled and that no foods that He has provided are any longer off limits to us, and when we partake of them we should receive them with thanks. The heresy is in teaching people that abstience from certain foods is necessary for holiness and a proper spiritual life. These diets abstain from certain types of foods for health choices - they would only be heretical if they implied that there was a biblical reason for abstaining and that abstaining is necessary for proper spiritual living - which none of them do.

I am very grateful to you for all your help with making bread. The first video we watched was making Ezekiel bread. We now eat whole grain organic bread which we mill ourselves. Too much of what is said on the Internet is nonsense.
Bread has been eaten by humans since the dawn of history. Bread was also eaten by Greeks and it was a staple. They also drank milk, ate eggs and meat along with plants.
You did not mention the foods the Israelites were told they could "eat any animal that has a split hoof completely divided and that chews the cud." We did some research on the animals like pork, shrimp catfish and others. These have a different digestive system so it is likely not healthy since they are scavengers.
We usually have a garden. At the moment we are forced to temporarily live in an apartment so this is not possible.
There is a lot of information out lately about fasting so we did try it. Fasting does work. Fasting is also in the books of the bible. We now skip breakfast and we go a long time between meals.

Actually they didn't ingest the large amount of honey that's in Bread Beckers bread recipe. They used it but not all the time. And they ate only twice a day, the 1st a light meal the last was around 4 in the afternoon. Meat only in moderation and special occasions.
I love the Lord with all my heart and have pretty much always ate from Biblical perspective, except milling ones own wheat wasn't an option in my day. I do agree over all, except for certain circumstances like when you are fasting. One can fast for a few months and come out better for it by eliminating certain foods. You must fast at whatever diet the Lord tell us for he knows what we need for the illness we suffer. For instance eating only meat, carnivore diet, for a few months can literally starve out cancer because it feeds on sugar. John the Baptist fasted on locust for quite a while but for a different reason. Pure protein only, has helped the bodies of many people heal from Parkinson's and other disease, but their mistake is, it should only be used short term. Not for the rest of their lives. Too long will end up causing more harm than good. One woman did it for 6 years and just dropped dead one day for no apparent reason. It was later found she suffered from not getting other nutrients her body needed. Any sugars, excess carbs that converts to sugars, even honey, molasses and whatnot feeds cancer. Cancer doesn't care. Although I cannot bring myself to eat much meats, I literally got rid of gout and fibromyalgia and gut issues by fasting, cutting out all sugar, including so called healthy sugars for over a year. I would not eat anything including bread, crackers, you name it. No fruits including tomatoes. Almost zero carbs except what I could get from lentils, beans. It will take your sweet tooth away and I lost 15 lbs, that I didn't even need to lose. But it didn't hurt. If I had known about fresh milled wheat being an option then, it would have been awesome. But I didn't. When I got my mill, I tried Bread Beckers bread recipe and it's way too sweet for me. Honey is sweeter than white sugar in taste, and has twice as many calories per tablespoon, (but is lower in glucose and fructose, a good thing) but using that much in bread, replacing white sugar, was too sweet. I have never even used that much white sugar in any sandwich bread recipe. Way too much honey. Im 69 and learned baking from my mother. I don't use any sweetener in biscuits, pie crust. Very little in Cornbread. I've always been a well studied health nut since age 15. Always baked breads but organic flour never helped my constipation problems. Now the problem is non existent. I love milling my own wheat and have tweaked the bread recipe. Actually everything I bake with it has to have less sugars. PS, I never gained that 15 lbs back either. To me the biggest enemy in health is overuse of sugars of any type. I do a lot of intermediate fasting. It helps fibromyalgia.

I think you have made excellent points. If you’re sick, often times you need to do something way different for a time to heal! Then get back to “normal.” People have gone on juice fasts to heal from cancer or other autoimmune diseases. I completely agree and applaud this but no one would ever say you should be on it for life!!
The Bible talks about letting our moderation be known to all men! We shouldn’t be living in the extreme, but sometimes there are periods where it’s needed (fasting, cutting out food groups, etc).

My brain is at its sharpest, my digestion is perfect, im at my leanest/strongest, all is good. Im a personal trainer who has worked with many clients and many have had my experience as well. Your intention is good, but be sure to not speak for everyone. There is so much conflicting science out there, so best to experiment and not be dogmatic. Your anger about this thing says a lot, not about others, about your attachment to your ideology. As well as your association with those grain farmers.
Also, grains throw off your omega 6 to 3 ratio way off. They are very high in omega 6's. That causes inflammation and is mainstream science. An ideal ratio is 1:1-1:4 with the 1 being the omega 3's. The average american is at over 1: 20

He reacts to it when he eats it. So, there is something to be said about whole grains. Food is good, but we live under the curse of sin and a very broken world. Things affect our bodies in different ways. God will not condemn people for the way they chose to eat but for their rejection of His Son. Let’s preach Christ and him crucified and leave the other stuff alone. Eat and give thanks no matter how we choose to eat. He is worthy of all the praise.

You also said that eating a certain way aka carnivore or keto is heretical. Implying that those who HAVE to eat that way are not honoring the Lord. And honestly, if it is heretical, even if you excuse those of us who have to eat that way, who are you to excuse anyone from not eating the way you say the lord see fit for us to eat. Just something to think about. If it’s a matter of conscience then like the book of Romans in chapter 14 talks about then you should definitely not eat that way. But to preach it either way as gospel is being legalistic and I would say is just as heretical. It would be better for you to just state it as a conscience issue. I said to lay this aside and preach Christ instead because of this very reason. People who have real health issues, especially in the States, have healed on these diets by Gods grace. Some can consume grains after healing but a lot can’t. I would encourage you not to demonize any certain way of eating. It can be life and death to a lot of people. And I mean physical death. And certainly don’t use scripture to tell people it’s heretical when God USES all kinds of foods to heal people and sustain people. That’s really what I was getting at without having to say it but I guess I wanted to clarify and be more pointed.

You stated that if one believes in the Bible that they will avoid these diets. It’s just not true. Romans 14 talks all about our conscience. God never condemns a way of eating or any one food group. He condemns those that judge others as they eat and drink in freedom. Your exegesis of the word of God is very flawed. That is what I have issue with. You can have an opinion but when you are inappropriately using scripture and making it fit what your conscience says is right and wrong that is where the issue is. You are calling people heretics who eat this way whether or not it is preferred or for health reasons. If you call a certain thing heretical the implication is that those who take part in it are heretics. No way around that. It’s wrong. Period. Peace and I digress.

So during the last supper Jesus said the wine was His blood. Does this mean we should all be drinking wine just as you say we should be eating bread because Jesus said He is the bread of life? Just curious.

Paleo meat was much leaner and eaten infrequently. Look to the Hadza people for their lifestyle, diet and level of activity.

Nothing really wrong with any which way of eating so long as it’s in moderation. The biggest change with modern society is that we eat much more meat and wheat and everything in general, we eat more regularly with less times of fasting and more times of plenty and physically we work less to achieve this. In the past soups and broths would have been consumed a lot more with bread which they would have milled the flour possibly harvested the wheat perhaps they walked or even rode a horse to get the grain etc etc they chopped the wood to light the fire they fetched the water to hand wash their clothes etc etc you get it….. in the end we over indulge and work less. It’s not the food groups.

    Very good! Thank you.
Back in Jesus’ day the common people ate little meat. The rich became sickly by eating too much meat and unhealthy food. The common people were constantly working, gathering food, fuel, and preparing everything by hand. No fancy kitchen gadgets. They literally worked for their meal. The rich did no physical labor became sickly from lack of exercise. Jesus and the disciples walked a lot and even plucked some grain on the Sabbath. Jesus served barley loaves. Jesus served unleavened bread. And he made good wine. Wine that would have been alive with natural fermentation and had no sulfites and other chemicals. Exploring the Bible and the time period for food knowledge is time well spent!

What is good about whole grain ? Fiber? I now think fiber is more harmful than helpful.

    • @GrainsandGrit
      @GrainsandGrit  5 місяців тому

Fiber is good and needed for your digestion and also cleansing out your digestive tract well. Fiber is what good bacteria eat off of as it travels through the digestive tract.
Look it up because God placed fiber in so many foods and He knows what our bodies need!!

@@GrainsandGrit He also did not put fiber in animal foods. Seems like God put a variety of foods in different environments. Animal foods are the most nutrient dense and more easily absorbed. But if none are available, you can get by on plant foods for a time. However, soaking grains seems to be a hack that humans should employ since we don't have 4 stomachs to digest plant material.

Yeast is infact symbolic of sin in the Bible in most places.
      Riddle me this-
Meshach, Shadrach and Abednego ate vegetables for a while. Are they heretics? What about the people who fasted and didn't eat grains for a while? Are they also heretics? 🥸

About the carnivore diet--I so agree with you!! I even find it offensive. I know this is harsh, but it is my gut reaction to this diet. God has blessed us with an abundance of good foods. Even with the foods He has given us though, it is possible to move away from good health to poor health when we continually overindulge or move away from "moderation in all things."

    • @GrainsandGrit

Amen and amen!!!! I’m the same way about the carnivore. The first time I ever heard about it I was instantly annoyed lol Never felt that way about any other diet. Something about that one just sounds wrong to its core.

Sheep and goats produce a lot less milk than cows and modern cows produce a lot more milk than ancient cows.
