Repairing things should have been part of the base game. Likewise, everything should have been a scrap option without the need for mods. I had no problem with building new things that had a rubbish look from scrap. But materials existed to repair walls of existing buildings, and I think that should have been in the game.

Seeing a whole interstate overpass move from one side of the map to the other could explain why any of it is there at all

One of the things that really broke my immersion was how people were living in buildings that were full of holes. It makes absolutely no sense to not seal up buildings as tight as possible and make them weather proof, especially when there's so much material around. One last thing: If you want an object that matches an existing object (like a parapet piece) but doesn't exist in your building mods you can easily create a duplicate. Go into the console, select an existing object and then type
    spawndupe
When you exit the console, the duplicate will usually appear above the existing object. It will also not be aligned to the 'z' place. As soon as you select it - it will correct itself. NOTE: this usually only corrects the FIRST copy of an object. If you need more hopefully there are other 'originals' you can copy. If not, you'll need to get really good with Place Anywhere's object controls. BTW: It's even sometimes possible to use Place Anywhere's 'Store Object's Position, Rotation and Scale' command on the original piece, and then 'Restore' the copies. This means the copy will be in the exact same place as the original. So, you can just grab one, and then move it. Whew...)

    • @TheAns51
      @TheAns51 5 місяців тому

@@Shuruii I don't think it destroys/ corrupts your save but makes them very large in filesize and at some point your computer cannot handle it effectively. What most scrap everything mods do is what was said already. They broke what is called "precombines" and "previs". Many objects (clutter, roads, terrain etc), especially outside of settlements are rendered and calculated as some form and size of cells. These precombines or cells can contain many different objects made for this game but combined to read as one object so your cpu and gpu handles and renders them as one single object thus reducing load times and giving you huge boost to fps and use less memory. Most popular scrap everything mods are made quickly with no attention to precombines/ previs. When you scrap even some single bush on somewhere that is part of precombine you break that single cell into a many smaller cells or objects that so instead of one objects your computer and savefile handles there are now tens of single objects that your computer needs to render. Previs means that game renders only objects that are visible to player so when you break precombines and previsibles your computer renders every piece of scrap in that cell as a different thing, greatly affecting performance in all but high end machines. Example: Some junk pile where you clearly see skeletons and some loot and maybe few weapon stock's are visible ect. that you can't get your hand on in vanilla game and can't interact in anyway. They are just single static object there. Then you download some cheap scrap everything everywhere all at once mod and go to that pile and you see that you can scrap that skeleton, weapon ect. all separately. Moment you scrap that skeleton for few bones that mod breaks that cells precombine and previs and tells your computer that those single objects in this big pile of shit are different cells and objects thus making your computer to make more work thus lowering performance. More you do this, more they are broken and game becomes more and more taxing for your game and then comes a time when game engine, your computer or something else jsut can't handle all that information anymore and your game crashed everytime or you experience some visual bugs. There are some great scrapping mods that have been made with time and passion and does allow you a more limited but much much more performance and save friendly scrapping. Those mod makers have usually included some form of regenerative precombines/previs in their mod that combines those cells again after you have scrapped some part of them. But best mods are made so that mod maker has broken precombines in editor and changed it so that some things in that cell are scrappable ie. not part of that cell and can be scrapped safely. These mods are usually larger in size and can a bit hit your performance but not much. www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/articles/3202 This article tells all that in better way

When I rebuild the castle I use the terraformer blocks in Sim Settlements to fill in the collapsed walls with a nice mud or gravel texture, and then line them with the covenant concrete walls from Homemaker. Gives me a realistic look for a feasible rebuild, because theres no way in hell you are restoring those original granite bricks to pre-war condition. To anyone watching this.
Be VERY careful when using the scrapping mods displayed here.
While it does give you the ability to quote literally scrap anything. You don’t want to.
Scrapping things you wouldn’t otherwise be able to scrap can disable pre-combines.
Pre-combines are one part of Fallout 4's Optimization System. They are designed to keep 3D object counts as low as possible by combining multiple objects together into one 3D object.
Disabling them by scrapping things can drastically reduce performance, causing stuttering, large drops in frame rate, and CTD’s (Crashes).
As such it’s not really a good idea to scrap everything in settlements and completely remake them like the guy in the video is (even on PC but especially on console)

(*Very* handy in Bunker Hill.)

Good tutorial for new Snappy Housekit users. As an experienced builder with Snappy Housekit & other similar mods, I'd like to point out that sometimes you can get stuff to snap into the proper place by using some outside the box tactics, like the wall that wouldn't snap in the one room you were working on at 10:45, but it would snap the other direction, I found that just by snapping it in facing the other direction, it would usually become possible to just snap an additional piece in at the right spot, then just store the one that was in the wrong spot.
Also, the janky office chairs in the Jamaica Plain town hall can be disabled via console, or in some cases, I used console commands to right & move them into place (I use console commands in lieu of Place Everywhere). I do try to keep pre-existing terminals & safes though, so I don't lose any lore (I used console commands to slightly adjust the desk under the terminal in the mayor's office, but kept the terminal & safe in the final product).
One final note, but the wood floors in the Shell Kit part of Snappy housekits have the exact same meshes & textures as the wooden floors in the town hall & a lot of other buildings.

For the occasional walls that won't snap into place. I've found that you can somewhat smudge things a bit by at least getting one wall to snap in and then have the other snap onto that, then you remove the first wall you placed down and there you go.

This should have been a feature from Day 1. I'm super bummed out that we have to place new but ragged wooden/metal shacks on perfectly level concrete grounds. That, and never be able to get rid of road cracks and tiny branches. Fallout shouldn't be horrible dilapidated landscapes everywhere - people should continue living and building. This gives the player more autonomy and credits, and let the settlements become actually habitable.

Thank you for the video. I have been doing a LOT of rebuilding over the years (including planting live trees everywhere), and yet I still learned a couple things. Something that might help you and others: at 11:00 minutes in - you have problems snapping a wall in (even with snappy). Walls seem to almost always snap better to floors (or roofs) with an exposed edge. Sometimes you can temporarily remove (or move) one of the floors on either side of the wall. (Which you do at 15:30 for the single wall, but you could have done for the corner wall! first!) If the wall has an outside, you'll want to remove/move the floor that is on the 'outside'. Then just replace when done placing the wall. You can sometimes even use the vanilla's barn half floor, to position walls using the half floor, then replace the half floor with the proper full floor and now you have a wall perfectly aligned half way on a full floor. (I usually build bases with the second floors 'indented' halfway in for defensive walkways with wood guard fences and turrets. (So the enemies can't get under floors that extend out.)

Hi, it's been a long time since I did anything like this on Fallout 4. But one thing I do remember is the wall snaps tend to orientate via the floors or ceilings. So your problem, like the corner wall you tried to use is from the roof section you just placed, If you rotate it 90 degrees & then snap it, that should change the wall snap position. After, if the roof section orientation is wrong , you can simply pick it up & turn it back, as these sections tend to be free from locking in only certain positions. Also, if you had removed the wall after moving the roof piece, and then tried the corner, I think that would of also worked...Great vid will like...JC

Oblivion was also fun at first, and even for some longer time. But if somebody digs deeper and opens up to you, how much mechanics and actual gameplay is missing, you start to wonder why It's not in there.
Yet, DLCs and especially Mods showed what's actually possible to achieve if you want to.
Skyrim was fun at first, too, but you didn't even need to dig too deep to see how much mechanics got cut off from even oblivion. What they added was rudimentary crafting and a limited perk system carved from their fallout kit. So what, I can use dual wield weapons and even magic. When at the same time there are less magic effects than before, and you can't even combine the basic magics into a higher tiered one.
And then Mods come along and at first didn't really add totally new things but just turned on functions that the engine already had e.g. more parts for customizable armor, like shoulder, hip, back, etc. And you start to wonder why...
While many would not agree with me, because newer engines are a must at some point... the problem is neither the old technic nor basic gameplay loop. It's just that as a company, they do not care about the content of the product. It has to make cash and that's all.
