I came across this series of videos quite by chance, and just kept searching for the next tune. Not only some of the best playing I've heard, it was so relaxed, and you realize these guys aren't in any competition, or trying to out due each others... at this level of playing there's no "better than"... it's just three guys at the top of their craft, just having fun, in the grove. PS I'm a drummer, and I just couldn't resist grabbing som brushes and a nearby cajon ans just swing 'n' sway along.
Absolutely. Class transcends all ego barriers and these guys have it by the bucketload. I'm a heavy rock/metalhead by default, but this is exhilarating stuff. The sheer enjoyment these guys get from just playing together is catching.
. You really can’t acknowledge anything anymore , without someone being a smart arse . So give the guy a break for simply appreciating the level of craftsmanship .
I think the unsung hero of this vid is the guy in shorts out of view on the other side of TE - keeps a pumping bassline going through the whole song and monsters his solo with some very tasty chordal runs. Nice job bloke 🙂
I saw TE in concert when he came to Clearwater not long ago. He's definitely a virtuoso of the first order. But the guy in shorts was equally awesome on this video, and the tone quality he coaxed out of his guitar was stellar!
@@davidmandelstamm8725 Richard Smith is in the same league as Tommy playing wise but he doesn't have all the showing off, charisma, and stage manner as Tommy.
Tommy Emmanuel è prima di tutto una persona di grande umanità e capacità di relazione gioiosa con tutti. Quando poi una persona così è anche un grande artista, ascoltarlo e vederlo diventa magia! Thank you mr Tommy.
Grande evento. Parabéns Erisvaldo
And that is why Tommy is the more renown! You can have all the talent in the world, but without the showmanship, you may as well keep playing in your basement....
I love TE... However, I would just like to say, just because it has a 12 bar progression, doe snot make it the blues.. This was not the blues, nor was it ever anything near the birth of the blues.. Absolutely zero blues.
Blues has always fed into jazz, as they are both an integral part of the African-American musical tradition. The DNA of the blues is woven heavily into this performance, and many jazz standards, you only have to watch Richard's solo in this piece to hear the blues influence. Music genres aren't as rigidly defined as some people would like them to be
Richard Smith and Jim Nichols beat the Aussie - his playing is too jerky for my liking while the other 2 play the blues real S..M...O..O..T..H the way it should be played
That was me shouting out “Birth of the Blues”! Haha phenomenal performance by these legends. Thanks so much for uploading these videos!
You're so lucky to have been there
nice shout
good call my man!!
good call!
Thaks
Love how Tommy laughs with joy when watching his friends' solos.
Yea the phrasing is unbelievable 🤟

Came here to watch the lady with the hand fan but unfortunately she put it away. I hope you read this lady. I’m disappointed!!!
Praise the Lord 🙏
She’s the wife of the guitarist sitting closest to her. She’s a killer cello player.
Tommy is an exceptional acoustic guitar player.
in other news, the surface of the sun is hot!
Star Spatial you don’t say!

That's a bit like saying that Van Gogh could paint
Of the three, they are all my favorite guitarist.
2:14 joker time
Imagine this with Frank and Vinny...
That ending made all the hair on my body escape through my clothes.

That's Richard Smith. Check out his videos on UA-cam and you'll keep coming back for more.

Every time I see/hear TE or Richard Smith, I weep with joy and feel lighter in my spirit. Thanks for sharing!
The best way to begin my day ! I love so much Tommy : always ecstatic, always good humored, always thrilled about his utmost 💘 : music ! 🙏
Thank you gentlemen for pushing the song to the max.
I think if he tried real hard, Tommy still couldn't hit a bum note!

Großartige Musik! Herzlichen Dank!

I’d like to see Tommy and Joe Bonamassa play an acoustic show together. No other instruments but a couple of their special guitars.
Does Tommy play a les Paul guitar?
The person who likes Tommy’s playing most is Tommy! But you can’t fault him because he’s not wrong.
He actually looks like Brian Setzer's Dad ....which makes sense to me
Magical players! A dead piece of wood and metal becomes a living thing in these guys' hands.
I never learned to make faces like TE......probably why I don't play very well.
Beyond words. Many thanks guys!
Да,это вам не Маргенштерн,тут слушать и понимать надо)

Did TE miss a fret at 1:43? Maybe there is hope for us mere morals.
All three are amazing players, but Tommy is the man!

He is such an amazing player!
He is incredible, I have tickets to go see him this week on Wednesday!
Damn dude....I bet you could pick Knat shit out of pepper.

Oh man; great stuff! This is why the guitar is such a great instrument.
And that is why Tommy is the more renown! You can have all the talent in the world, but without the showmanship, you may as well keep playing in your basement....
WOW!......

Richard Smith and Jim Nichols best the Aussie-his playing is too jerky while the other 2 play the blues real smooth the way it should be played
This is better than Just in Beaver 😎
Most things in life are.
I love TE...

It IS The Birth Of The Blues.

There are two other players there. Sit down…
