I love how Fallout 2 mocks players of the first game by having a ton of water chips lying around in Vault 8 It's even funnier cause there's 420 of them
I remember when i first saw how much water chips are there i started collecting them all! ALL OF THEM! I've dropped all my guns and everything that has weight i gave my companions water chips till they couldn't carry more of them... and then i've learned that they don't worth a shit.. Best 30 mins of my life!
The Disingenuous Gamer also in Fallout 2 there is a random encounter where you go through a portal and end up in a vault where while snooping around you break something and the portal reopens and you go back. The thing you broke was the water chip from the first game. Trippy.
When I first played fallout 3, I was terrified of all the mutants. Because I played Fallout 1 and 2 way before 3 came out, so I was still working on those assumptions. Turns out they're not quite as... dangerous as the originals. So anyone whos played the later games but not the first, let me give you a warning: Super Mutants cannot, CANNOT be engaged at a low level. You will lose, quickly. Avoid them at all costs.
This game is one of my favorites of all time. I have never again felt so involved in a game. I played this game in 1998 in Germany, and I hated it at first, begged my parents to buy me Baldur's Gate instead (another one of my all time favorites). But when I finally started Fallout, it sucked me in so much I can't describe it. It felt so satisfying to find out things, and using your brain really is an important factor. I was 12 back then, so you can imagine how I felt when I figured some of this stuff out... without internet. And none of my friends played the game.
RamsesTheStone If I played Fallout 1 when I was 12 I don't think I could get through it ...especially the mariposa military base but I agree it felt so satisfying when I beat Fallout 1 and the ending was ...cold and I thought about it right after the game ended..it was memorable.
I just typed Fallout 1 to look at some first impressions of it since I just bought Fallout 1 and 2, but I never thought I was going to find ''that'' channel. That kind of channel that really hooks you and with that kind of youtubber/gamer/person that you really relate to to the point you feel you are asking to a friend for some comments on a game or anything and you are having an enjoyable conversation about it. After this GREAT review on Fallout, I kept watching more and more of your content and I just thought that I needed to give you some positive feedback on your videos and the way it seems you are managing this channel. Not only for your gaming content but, as you said in one video, having some variety it really helps reaching different audience. Maybe If I wouldnt seen some other videos such as the one on criticism, how did you get into videogames or the one about e-begging on Twitch, I would have stopped after watching the Fallout Series. It was just that I really wanted to know what you had to say on those topics as I found your reviews really interesting. As well i would like to give you some comments on what you can improve but, so far, I have really nothing to say about it. I just felt that you deserved some good feedback and to know that you have given a viewer some fascinating content to enjoy and that I am veeeery glad that I found your channel. Keep going dude, I hope to catch on and I will be in the wait for your new videos :)
+Daniel Granja Conejeros Thank you Daniel :) I appreciate the kind words ... I think variety helps so there is something for everyone and its really fun doing these videos ..its a great hobby and I'm happy people enjoy it!
You should have mentioned that Mark Morgan composed the "fucking amazing" soundtrack :) The same Mark Morgan Bethesda failed to hire to work on Fallout 3 and the same Mark Morgan who now works on Wasteland 2. Can hardly wait for that!
I started F1 last week again. It is so amazing that they have created so much atmosphere back in 1997. Both F1 and F2 have wonderful art style and playability which make them still superior to many RPGs of today.
I just got into a crpg phase. I had never played these types of games before and Pillars of Eternity was my first experience. I'm starting planescape torment and I believe I'll have to try out Fallout next. I didn't enjoy Fallout 3 but the first seems incredibly different. I'm all about the story.
I really, really, REALLY want to try out the first two Fallout games (and perhaps Fallout: Tactics), since I've heard from various sources including yourself that it had RPG elements of kin to New Vegas, which was by far my favorite "modern" Fallout game. My only question is this: Can this game still run on Windows 7? I've been anxious to play this game, but I also don't want to waste my money on the collection on Steam if it won't run on my system.
lol before I beat the game the first time I was on my way to the military base and I had all the companions, power armor brotherhood weaponry I was set to raid it after my previous attempt which was pretty early game (I am surprised I even maid it there the first time without a random encounter) I thought I was ready and then on my way over there I had a random encounter with a large group (about 5 or 6) of super mutants and a few other mutants (centaurs and those circle faced things) I thought I could fight them. they slaughtered all my companions leaving only me. the one save I had before that was 3 hours before. since that day I am a lot more careful when I play
Ever play fallout 2 with mods? You can control your companions with the resurrection project. It takes a bit of time, but if you can find the ddraw configuration settings (If you downloaded Sfall or the resurrection project) you can change the settings so that during combat you CONTROL COMPANIONS. Replace the line under the line labeled to control combat=2: ;Set to one to directly control companions in combat ControlCombat=2 Now the game is a lot easier. Also, if you talk to the preist in New Reno, he can tell you where his home is. At that place, you can talk to the trader there about special items and he can sell you super mutant armor if you have Marcus with you, essentially giving him T-51 power armor.
I think it should be a prerequisite to beat fallout 1 and 2 before you can play any of the new ones. I grew up playing them, and they are truly some of the most rewarding games you can play. makes me sad to see what the games have devolved into today...
I'm trying to find out which one I wanna play first, Arcanum, or Fallout 1. Which one is better?(possible video topic?). That'd be cool if you did a video on this. More content! lol
The only reason I haven't played this game. Because I didn't like 4 or 3 and I don't feel like I'm going to enjoy this one. Hopefully its not the same. I'll give it a try. I just got it 😁
Great review man, didn't play Fallout 2 but Fallout 1997 is awensome, and i love 3 and NV! Could you do some vids about tricks, best character making for big/small guns, intelligence, if we should focus on main quests, how to deal with problems, companions etc! I mean, what the game taught you and share some for newcommers just F1 and 2
retro played fallout 3 when i was 17 saw fallout 1 when i was like 13 on my friends pc we were watching the trailer always wanted to play that game never realized that kick ass turn based game i was watching when i was a kid was fallout i found your channel by accident but great info an great reviews subbed
Fallout 3 was my first entry into the fallout series. Genuinely speaking I really did enjoy it. Then I played fallout new Vegas. To be honest Im still working on the new Vegas DLCs. As much as I enjoyed fallout 3 I liked New Vegas better. The combat, dialogue, characters and story are better .
i played fallout 2 so many times with diferent stats ending it multiple times. but when i tried to play fallout1 i reach a "library" in some town with a person selling books, i stole them from her, sold back for more books, stole them again and resell, basicly get the max learning from books possible, that exploit on its own took some of the joy for the game for same reason :(
Brings back memories. . I won't spoil it but I loved the OTHER ending lol! And yeah energy weapons are the way to go .. if you do it right you can really become almost unstoppable
RetrospectiveGaming . This is definitely my favorite video game series. No other series for me has delivered as consistently as the Fallout series. I played the first one within two weeks of it coming out and as a kid it was groundbreaking and mind blowing for me. A year later the second did not fail to deliver either, doubling down on the humor and rich backstory. Tactics came out and it was different enough, while holding onto the nuances of previous games, to satisfy that itch. Fallout 3 so many years later, for me, was a great come back. It delivered that old Fallout feel while giving me the game play that I had grown accustomed to during the years in between. New Vegas, in my opinion, was a misstep. I did not think that it was a bad game, it just fell flat for me. I was not as invested and did not feel as connected to the story and characters. I still have to play 4 though. Don't hate. Just haven't been able.
Very great review right there. It motivates me a lot and I'll see if I redo the let's play of Fallout by playing it in the Fixt version. I remember I was interested in this game by one of the UA-camrs I know and when I got the game, I got used to the controls for about 5-20 minutes depending on how my brain works.
Thanks for watching! It took me about 1 hr to figure out the controls... I actually got killed by rats in the beginning twice lol .. I have to check out your play through sometime soon
RetrospectiveGaming You're very welcome. :) I think played a little too much Fallout classic series that it took me hours to understand the controls for Fallout 3 and New Vegas. Of course, the style of gameplay is pretty different to compare, but they're all great games. I remember I died only few times when I'm killing the Khans. Feel free to check out my playthrough. Especially on my Fallout 2 since it's still ongoing. I don't which which fixt option I was supposed to download though. I only downloaded the full mod. I don't even remember to be honest lol since I'm new to installing it.
I started the game, got the first quest which was to kill a bunch of giant scorpions. Turns out it's not possible to not get your ass kicked by them. Why give such a quest so early on to a lvl 1 character? I mean, I remember Baldur's Gate 1 had a few places that you just had to be a medium/high lvl character to beat them, but your very first enemies could be dealt with. Also, the dialogs were boring. I've only played a little bit, but so far it's very underwhelming.
What helped me out in the beginning was using each turn to attack then move back to decrease the chances of getting hit, when I used all my ap for attacking alone I found myself dieing a lot more. I hope it helps
RetrospectiveGaming Thanks. I chose Max as my character (the brute), and when I shot the thing it only left me 1 or two points, so the scorpion will get me no matter what. I did the mistake and bought all Fallout games (fortunately it was a 75% discount). Have you played the other ones? Are they any different?
igano111 I recommend creating your own character instead of choosing a preset , I found that max and the other preset characters are very weak .. I would recommend looking up tips for the game (helped me out at the start of the game) if you want, I can send some links to your email or something like that of guides that helped me out, Fallout 3 and New Vegas IMO are easier to get into to, It is not turn based and the tutorials are better so you learn the game mechanics a bit better, and they have fast travel so if you visit any area once you can fast travel back to it from the map.
I played this when it first came out. I was really enjoying it until suddenly my Vault ran out of water and bam, game over. Pissed me off so bad and I've not played it since. I played the hell out of Fallout 2 though.
i wanted to play this and i tried but i want roleplay! like once i wanted roleplay lawrence of arabia but i cant because you must think what you choose not just roleplay and that was my deal breaker
Great Review, I got Fallout when it first came out, back in the day. My brother brought it to my attention and I am glad he did,, I spent hours upon hours of playing. I Also bought FO2 and Tactics new as well, and I have a collectors one with Both Fallouts and Tactics and have them from GOG.Com. The atmosphere is great, and I have a similar experience with Shandy Sands, I did put my weapon away, but when I went to check the shelves in one house (prior in RPGs I did this with no consequences). The lady asked me not to steal her stuff, and I ignored her then the second time I got attacked and just sat there in shock. Also, while my brother was playing, we decided to go West after going east and getting to Shandy Sands and Vault 15, uhm... I don't have to tell you what happened but to anyone else, Do not go west in the beginning, it just leads to death. Also one last note to anyone who plays this, do not F with Rhombus, you'll know what I mean when it happens. :P
RetrospectiveGaming Yeah, it was something different than what I was use too. I never heard of the Original Wasteland, since at that time and I was pretty much a sole Nintendo Gamer. Then a friend of mine worked to get me into PC gaming, with mostly Point-In-Click adventures like Monkey Island and Gabriel Knight, which didn't really do much for me. Then X-Com came around, which my friend introduced me to as well, and that's when I became a PC gamer, along with getting Doom and Wolfenstien. Sadly I did not know about Elderscrolls till Morrowind which again my brother introduced me to, just like with Fallout. Both are now in my top five favorite series. My Brother also introduced me to Diablo. Edit: Actually My brother introduced me to the Playstation Version of Diablo, which at the same time he introduced me to Playstation. I then got Diablo on the PC. As for the Original Fallout, it was the first game I ever played with Gruesome Deaths and Cussing in it. I recalled that and I know this had to happen but I saw a Ghoul or Tycho once say "You Green Fleshy Bastard," ... it could have been two text boxes over lapping or a rare expression but I have never been able to duplicate it. Edit: Oh, I forgot to mention that Fallout also introduced me to the morality system, before then heroes could do no wrong. :P even when they are stealing and vandalizing other people's property. Also, have you heard of the games Crusader No Remorse and No Regret, they are pretty sweet games too. The controls are a bit odd at first, but I managed to bet No Regret, but haven't completed No Regret.,
Hey man, We seem to both enjoy the same kind of games quite a bit. I make videos about video games as well although more of a focused look rather than a specific game. I don't know if you have a steam but i think it would be awesome to play a few rounds.
Finally got this game and the second on sale. I started playing the first one and I've got to say, it's been really irritating the shit out of me. lol I can't stand the horrible user interface and the controls are just awful to me. I'm pushing myself through in the hopes that when I get the hang of it the game gets better, but so far it's had a terrible first impression for me.
Its all good ....some people like it ..some people don't ... I won't shit on you for it :) .... there are plenty of videos that explain the lore so if you can't play the first 2 games ...you can watch the videos or a LP if you want to know the story
RetrospectiveGaming I'm taking a break from it right now. Even though the controls drive me crazy there's still something that pulls me back to it. However the witcher 3 needs my full undivided attention, now that all the expansions are out. :)
+OTBASH I did the same thing, I tried the game out and didnt really like it that much at first and put it down for a few months. But, after I came back and finally played it it became one of my favorite games of all time.
Seven Billion Yeah, I'm definitely not going to be playing the game again for a while. It just gets too boring now, plus pokemon go is out and is awesome as fuck.
RetrospectiveGaming lol It's awesome. You see so many people walking outside with their eyes glued to their phones trying to catch pokemon now. This app also makes you explore every spot you live in so you can find the pokestops to collect items. I haven't played pokemon since pokemon yellow when I was a kid but this game reeled me back in.
Most probably angry as betsheda just riding the wave interplay has laid on, then proceed to mutilate it into generic fps with less lore that makes Fallout truly 'Fallout'.
First played the first two fallouts back in 2000. I was 7, didnt understand shit, and died a lot. Played through both of them recently and it was such a throwback. FO2 is literally a masterpiece, bugged as fuck but still. Fallout 3 comes close to the story telling capacity of the originals but sadly, thats the last of them. NV is an expansion pack and FO4 is just garbage. Polished turd. I have very little hope for 76 but I'm going to give Bethesda the benefit of the doubt.
My school bus driver actually gave me this game a few days ago, he loves fallout
Best bus driver ever
I agree
Sven Blake *Fallout 1 added*
Nice
That's a unique story right there.
I love how Fallout 2 mocks players of the first game by having a ton of water chips lying around in Vault 8
It's even funnier cause there's 420 of them
Yeah, when I saw those I couldn't stop laughing.
+The Filthy Casuals what? im playing Fallout 1 right now......
:(
I remember when i first saw how much water chips are there i started collecting them all! ALL OF THEM! I've dropped all my guns and everything that has weight i gave my companions water chips till they couldn't carry more of them... and then i've learned that they don't worth a shit..

But then again, vault 13 had like 3 gecks. Stupid overseer was afraid of the outside.
When I first played fallout 3, I was terrified of all the mutants. Because I played Fallout 1 and 2 way before 3 came out, so I was still working on those assumptions. Turns out they're not quite as... dangerous as the originals.

Remember the Enclave in Fallout 2 ....they would gang up on you so much ..pissed me off lol
RetrospectiveGaming Fuck those dickheads they can shove there fancy advanced power armor up their asses
If you are with a caravan you can
Sneak & Sniper Rifle, Super Mutants become easy pickings.
Thank you all for the support! #fallout #rpg

I can't wait to play wasteland 2! And I mentioned Mark in my fallout 2 video!
Fallout 3's soundtrack was really good on its own though

This game actually came out the very day i was born, and i have to say it's one of the greatest game i've ever played.
My fist time playing this game i was killed by rats at the beginning. I forgot i had a knife and a gun.
I was terrible in the beginning! ..the rats fucked me up lol
I have this game sitting in my GOG account. Sounds like I need to download it sometime
I recommend it.. One of my favorite games of all time. ..made me appreciate the fallout series a hell of alot more !
you forgot to mention the death messages in the game over
Your reviews are so comfy, damn.
I just got into a crpg phase. I had never played these types of games before and Pillars of Eternity was my first experience. I'm starting planescape torment and I believe I'll have to try out Fallout next. I didn't enjoy Fallout 3 but the first seems incredibly different. I'm all about the story.

Sarcherre Gaming yes. but tactics need to have borders
Sarcherre Gaming i hated tactics. But i loved the first two games
Still play them too
Got a little surprise coming by the end of June. .working on the next video! Stay tuned!
I find it funny how in Fallout 2 vault 8 has 420 water chips. Im not kidding, its on the wiki
Oscar Gonzalez I think you meant Vault 8.
Jack Stevens Fixed
Just bought 1 and 2 very looking forward to playing this now.

Wow,I'm never realized the vault boy was in this game.
I just really enjoy hearing you talk about Fallout. Idk why. It's just enjoyable.
My pc can't run it :(
Haha what?
lol jk
Try plugging in your monitor. It worked for me. Also make sure ther are parts in the big computer box. That helps too.
+SlenderJow mine can!
Jesus, 1930s era computer?
My computer is a windows 8, can it run that game from steam or do i need a newer software version 9,10 ?
I'm trying to find out which one I wanna play first, Arcanum, or Fallout 1. Which one is better?(possible video topic?). That'd be cool if you did a video on this. More content! lol
WolfTread I think by this time you may already know, but let me tell you my opinion - start with Fallout 1. The reason - it is shorter.
The only reason I haven't played this game. Because I didn't like 4 or 3 and I don't feel like I'm going to enjoy this one. Hopefully its not the same. I'll give it a try. I just got it 😁

Fallout 2 is even better imho. Too bad most people like Fallout3 more so we'll get plenty of "Fallout" games. Damn it.
Jonas i absolutely love bethesdas fallout, but I'm dying to try the originals.

By far the best game ever made in human history,,

No. Fallout 2 RP
i played fallout 2 so many times with diferent stats ending it multiple times.

Necr0Fenix Well don't do it
@@Phagastick if you can why you dont? Its an rpg. If the game give you that exploit isnt your fault.
Thanks for these videos. Saw your Fallout 2 review too. Subscribed.
Thanks Benzzo! ... I'm very happy I did not ignore Fallout 1 and 2
For energy weapons, do you prefer laser or plasma?
Plasma does more damage
Brings back memories. . I won't spoil it but I loved the OTHER ending lol! And yeah energy weapons are the way to go .. if you do it right you can really become almost unstoppable
Defiantly, I luckily found the alien blaster and It helped me out TREMENDOUSLY
this was mad in 1997? ok then a game as old as me

I'm gonna play this. 😄

I played the hell out of Fallout 2 though.
i wanted to play this and i tried but i want roleplay! like once i wanted roleplay lawrence of arabia but i cant because you must think what you choose not just roleplay and that was my deal breaker
just got Fallout
Please review skyrim!
+Cameron Crawford I have to review Skyrim since I already reviewed Morrowind and Oblivion ..after I build my new PC I will put Skyrim on my list!
Wow.. it must have been a great feeling playing it when it first came out! I can only imagine.
My steam name is UndergroundGemz, Feel free to add me!
Loved the review, and by the way I agree, fuck those force fields!

i played this game 9 years ago but i never beat it
I like the videos being spoiler free even if I've played it.
8:03 I was alone and I got that encounter.
Today I've finally bought Fallout 1!

I'm taking a break from it right now.
Seven Billion
Yeah, I'm definitely not going to be playing the game again for a while. It just gets too boring now, plus pokemon go is out and is awesome as fuck.
RetrospectiveGaming
lol It's awesome. You see so many people walking outside with their eyes glued to their phones trying to catch pokemon now. This app also makes you explore every spot you live in so you can find the pokestops to collect items. I haven't played pokemon since pokemon yellow when I was a kid but this game reeled me back in.
I wonder how interplay reacted to see their game become famous by bethesda.
Look, I know this game was, and still is, a very good game. But to me, it just seems really dated.
+mryoyoserpico Its cool .. this game might not be for everyone I can say why some people might think its dated...it is almost 20 years old.
