RetrospectiveGaming I got maybe 15 hours into Wasteland 2. I really enjoy it. It might be too long tho. I've heard its like 60 hours long. The Shadowrun games, which really hit a sweet spot with me, are like 20 excluding the first witch is like 12. This might sound like a goofy thing to add, but one simple mod to add is extra portraits. There wasn't a great many like in Shadowrun and many of them were kind of bland. But the portraits you can get off steam or nexus are fantastic. Seems petty, but they really made the game cooler for me.
I'm 30 years old now... And looking back, Fallout 1 & 2 where my childhood. Every time I play Fallout 2, I find something new, I haven't seen before... The game doesn't "hold your hand" with quest markers. So you truly DO need to use your brain and memory. If you think it can be done, or you think you can permanently alter the situation in the fallout world by your own actions or dialogue. You Can! And be prepared to laugh your ass off. hell, be prepared in general. Because if you don't have more than one save. And you go into a situation unprepared. You might have to restart the game from the beginning. Seriously! Try going to 'THE GLOW' back in 1997 with only one save and with NO Rad-X or RADAWAY. Had to restart the damn game! It will treat you like the adult it assumes you to be, so get ready to THINK while playing. Anyway, instant classics, Fallout 1 & 2.
+Peter Engberg I played Fallout 1 & 2 while waiting for Fallout 4 to come out. Absolutely loved every minute of it. The only negative is I wish I played them when they first came out.

These two games are masterpieces But gameplay-wise Fallout 2 is superior. For example - inventory management is better in Fallout 2. Companion system is a whole lot better - they level up with you, Chosen can give them stuff, set up their tactics, tell them TO GET THE FUCK OUT OF THE WAY (this pissed me off so much in Fallout 1. I constantly got blocked in the doorways and either had to reload a saved game, don't have any companions or blast their heads (all of which is bad)). Also gun, armor and item variety is better, there are more rolls based on SPECIAL stats and a few more things.

Thank you for giving these games so much respect man, its a shame that a lot of people are missing out on the story of the originals. who knows maybe one day there were be a remake or possible fan modders will bring the classics to life on the newer gen games.
+pavjoe2 :D I'm happy I gave them a chance ..they are some of my favorite games ever! every Fallout fan should at least give them a chance if they haven't already.
It takes a bit of time, but if you can find the ddraw configuration settings (If you downloaded Sfall or the resurrection project) you can change the settings so that during combat you CONTROL COMPANIONS. Replace the line under the line labeled to control combat=2: ;Set to one to directly control companions in combat ControlCombat=2 Now the game is a lot easier. Also, if you talk to the preist in New Reno, he can tell you where his home is. At that place, you can talk to the trader there about special items and he can sell you super mutant armor if you have Marcus with you, essentially giving him T-51 power armor.
I tend to praise them alot in mine lol. ;P Usually despite "limited graphics", so many of these older games had such a phenomenal art direction to where they still look great to me.
This UA-cam video got me to buy fallout 2 all those years ago, thank you for that :,) I had so much fun with that game and consider it one of my all time favorites
I got it on steam a few days ago, it is quite intimidating at first as it is old and these older rpg's are a bit more of a challenge. I will do it though as I love the setting and lore of the series.
Hey, just discovered your channel a few days ago and I have already made it through most of your reviews. Its good to see someone with such a passion for CRPGs, which happens to be my favorite sub genre of video games. I will also state that out of the entire Fallout series Fallout2 is also my favorite. While I think the master is a far superior villain to Mr. H in the second one, and I think they were more consistent in the theme of the first one, the second ones world felt far more complex then the starkly dark and dreary world of the first one. Although all the Monty Python references were played outeven when the game came out in the late 90's. But as I have stated to friends before Obsidian/Black isle has never made a perfect game. I honestly can't think of one that wasn't riddled with bugs at release, but even despite that there is clearly more heart in one of their games than most other developers entire catalog.
Good review! I see Fallout 1 vs Fallout 2 kind of like Abe's Oddysee vs Exoddus as both games came out the same time (1997/1998): The sequels have an impressive amount of content and are more polished given that they only took a year to develop, but the cynical tone&overall package was more pungent the first time around in both cases.
That is a great way of looking at it! .... I agree Fallout was more dark and cynical and defiantly a memorable experience ...and it was hard to decide which game I liked better ... I gave the slight edge to Fallout 2 because of content but it was so damn hard! ....The Master is one of the best antagonist in video game history
This game was a large part of my childhood. I loved the soundtrack, the setting, everything... too bad Van Buren got never released. :( Fallout 2 is probably the game I've spent the most time with... I replayed for maybe thirty times just to see different approach with different stats and perks... and it just WORKED... my game only crashed a few times in New Reno whenever I killed Renesco... so, bugs... yeah, a few, but they never ruined the atmosphere for me...
@Jovica Jevtic So, I purchased the game. And I have to say, you are one AMAZING person for suggesting it to me! Underrail is just the game I've been looking for, for a REALLY long time. It's wonderful and so much like the original Fallout... Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
Up in the loft today looking for something and found a Fallout 2 disc a little bit scratched take it down to game to get it cleaned and see what happens
I loved Fallout 2. Fallout 1 and 2 are two of the greatest RPG's of all time. I did enjoy Fallout 2 more however, as I felt that not having a time limit helped me to enjoy side quests I would have previously have ignored. Fallout 1 was still a fantastic game but it limited your experience in its fantastically created world.
Xsroa12345 It was really tough choosing which original Fallout game was bettter...one of my favorite areas from any Fallout game is The Glow from F1 ...Vault City is pretty awesome too.. so many choices its hard to choose lol
After playing fallout 2 I can confidently say that the story was amazing but the mechanics and gameplay were meh. Something I've noticed people saying about the game is that the game worlds in fallout 1 and fallout 2 were more intuitive and easier to interact with, but I feel like there was too much empty space and seemingly interactable objects that don't do anything. Overall the story makes up for all its shortcomings and the personal touches the developers added to the game was amazing (especially the monty python and star trek references), if you want to better understand the story of the fallout world you absolutely must play these two games. Also don't listen to the purists, feel free to add gamechanging mods and feel free to opt out of combat via a cheat engine and just enjoy the story and the feel of the world. Don't be ashamed if you get frustrated at the combat and need cheats or a guide to help you, not everyone has a 100 hours to spare.
+NightReaper213 I'm planning on doing that very soon... I have to get vampire the masquerade bloodlines done but that should be my next review after that...i've been slacking
I have to admit that Fallout 2 is my favourite Fallout game so far. Even if there are just a small amount of easter-eggs I still enjoy the gameplay and the story behind the game.
Theres one huge issue with it, if your car runs out of gas in the middle of a town you can never get it back. And I had the NAVComm parts in the trunk, so I couldn't finish the game.
Personally I thought 1 was much better. I just had a smooth run on my first playthrough and it was an amazing and immersive ride into a post apocalyptic wasteland.
ah vault city i remember that place i was making heavy speech character and basically instead of paying 200 bucks to be a citizen i spent 150 then blackmail the guy that gave me illegal papers to pay up or i'll turn him in lol. i made 50 bucks profit to become a citizen it was amazing
Ok.. I’m thinking of reinstalling f2 and resuming. I raged and deleted after passing the den, modoc and reaching the vault city with just a leather armour, desert eagle, smg and low ammo and coins.. modoc ripped me a new one. Fallout 1 my char build was amazing and the pacing and difficulty was well balanced. The story in f1 was life changing and sound a masterpiece. In f2 im always raging. Please give advice to me on how I can get better gear without save scumming? Any tips? Im not having fun in f2 at all and the story is okish so far but what gets me is the voice acting of arroyo.. like “ you dieded” when you die.. its so irritating the whole premise of arroyo and its people lol 😂
I absolutely love the pre rendered CGI scenes of the late 90s and early 00s PC games like fallout 2, baldurs gate and planescape torment, they are just oozing with charm.
4:40 why comparing Master to Frank Horrigan? The latter is just a pawn. President Richardson is master-like feature in FO2. Yet he also falls short in comparison, cause you can't even reason with that maniac ;P
My favorite encounter in this game was the one where you run into the knights looking for the Holy Grail, with peasants clapping coconut shells together, a nod to Monty Python. After that encounter you go into a portal and are taken to a vault. While there you break something and leave. The portal takes you back in time to a vault where you end up breaking a water chip starting the events of the first game. I absolutely love this series and believe that this game not taking it self seriously made it a great game and both 1 & 2 really kept people wanting more leading to Tactics: BOS and fallout 3. If they took this game serious then the game might not have had such impact and killed the series.
The original Fallout is my favorite game in the series, but if I could only have access to one game in the series... I'd pick Fallout 2, for the same reasons given in the video. The main problem with Fallout 2 is that they designed the areas separately, and cobbled them together at the end; hoping it would all fit into a cohesive ~thingy. I think they were lucky when it did, but I'd have wished the areas had had more interactivity and/or relationships between them than they did. Also Fallout 2 did seem to stray from the core atmosphere a bit. I would account that to it being a mostly new crew trying to get a handle on it. Fallout 2 (and every FO game since), seemed to suffer a bit of that 'copy-of-a-copy' effect... each one losing a bit of fidelity from the previous copy's lost fidelity.
I agree 100 percent .. I was really surprised they got as much done as they did in a short amount of time, i believe if they had another year or at least 6 months they would have developed relationships between areas.
Hey RetrospectiveGaming what do you think of Fallout 3 was it a good decision to turn Fallout into a first person shooter or no. I personally never played anything after Fallout 2 because of that reason. And Fallout 2 always will be my favorite RPG even after some big D&D Titles.
I may sound like a casual for saying this or i might just be missing something but how am i supposed to know where to go for quests when i don't have a journal like morrowind or cannot ask the quest giver the details of said quest again in case ive forgotten? I am very early in the game and have forgotten where to go for a specific quest.
Ronan Colley Go to your pip boy and click on status..it tells you all the quests for each area ..and its all good ..It took me awhile to figure that out
Wow thanks for your super fast reply. Iam already aware that it lists quests but does it display what quest is about and where the npc told me to go/do? if so how?
The trick of surviving random encounters is ... to do everything. If you rush West you are going to die. You miss entire towns, hundred or more side quests, lots of exploration. Finishing the main quest, doing all the quests in every town, allows you to progress West as the game unfolds. It is always difficult keeping your party alive when you first encounter Enclave, I usually drop most of my team off at Vault City before venturing on to the end of the game. But that's what makes it a great game. It's not easy, even when you don't make any mistakes? Awesome game.
My pet peeve is when people go on about the "immersion breaking references" in reviews, seen a few lately. The references are great imho but you don't need to deal with most if you don't want to. And lot of them are unknown to today's people so I don't see a problem.
If i'm excited for Fallout 4 and played the shit outta 3 and New Vegas months before it was announced, should I play both FO1 and FO2? Or are they too out of touch even with mods? I'm pretty open to games before my generation but damn does this look weird compared to the new stuff. (notice i said look, meaning it's most likely not that awkward when you play it).
+Joakim Myannna I would really like that Bethesda would make a Fallout game like this again, I'm not saying that the previous Fallout games are bad, they're awesome, but it would be cool if they remade these games.
Joakim Myannna i might get the first two from steam sometime. It would be cool if they remade them and put them on steam, and then offered the originals for free on the site.
+ryn0 It can be tough at first but I got the hang of it after a couple of hours .. this is a good guide for beginners newfallout.com/fallout-1-quick-start-guide/
I remember when i started playing the first 2 while i waited for new vegas and then i noticed how close in feel they were and it made 3 and 4 look bad lol
I have a couple of questions. How much does Fallout 1 cost, how much does Fallout 2 cost, and how much does Fallout Tactics cost? Will I have any issues with downloading them on Windows 10?
store.steampowered.com/agecheck/app/38400/ its usually 10 dollars but it might go on sale this Summer ..and I never tried playing them on windows 10 so I dont know ..but I heard they updated it on steam to work on modern computers
+GamingRanger everyone says no more Enclave but of course the stupid fucking Brotherhood of shit are always gona be a thing the BoS have been around longer than the Enclave so if anything no more brotherhood cuz fuck them.
If anyone like these late 90's cRPG you have to try Arcanum : Of steamworks and magick obscura. It is from 2001 made by Troika. This is a studio funded by three ex-fallout maker. Or another less know game by them is Temple of elemental evil ( DnD game) and Vampire the masquerade - bloodlines. Sadly Troika dont exist anymore. But they made three masterpiece, flawed and full of bugs, but with a cult following.
There are some bugs that I have. When I killed people in their bunker it kept crashing a few times, next day it worked fine. Other than not none that I know of.
This "taking itself less seriously" thingy is the same thing that happened in Borderlands 2. Except Borderlands 2 overdid it so much that it almost ruined the story. I like the game, but seriously, even jokes have limits. I wasn't bothered by Fallout 2's excessive humor, but now that you said it, I did notice that Fallout 1 was WAY creepier and actually made me curious. I wanted to go to places, explore factories, hell, The Glow's lore creeps me out to this day (must be like, 6-7 years since I first played the game).
Would be great if you could do a video about phobos2077's Economy and Combat Rebalance mod for Fallout 2. This mod is compatible with Restoration Project and changes the game a lot, for example it adds crafting, some new weapons and also makes skills such as barter or traps much more useful! According to phobos, it even let's you play as a trader, buying things cheaper in one place and then selling high elsewhere :)
If you look at the actual facts and compare them side by side, FO2 is a superior game in every way. But the original will always be the best in my eyes.
I went through the entire game without any speech or science level, so when I got to the Frank Horrigan boss battle, I had to restart the game so I could convince the Enclave team to help me, and turn the turrets against Frank.
What happens when the game decided to bug out and the presidential key is not in the actual president because right now I am experiencing this immersive bug in F2. Honestly F2 is even more broken then F1 which is kind of amazing for a sequel. If I can't finish the game because of this , I think this is going to be final nail in the coffin for this game :)
It was unnecessary to reveal the Unclave's motives for the purposes of the review. I still felt that the power armor made a huge difference in my survivability against most creatures and burst gunfire. Unclave troops are rather rare as an encounter. I had to circle around with the car for quite a bit to find them instead of fire geckos or floaters. A party of 3 in power armor wielding gauss rifles exterminated everyone in the Navarro base and the HQ except for the guard barracks.
My biggest issue with fallout 2, was how long it took to get yourself a gun. I wanted to play a guns focused character like I did in fallout one, and because of this the temple of trials at the beginning of the game took me 30 minutes and several deaths, because my melee and unarmed skills were incredibly low. Then even when I had made it out of the temple and reached the first town, I didn't have enough money to purchase a gun and I couldn't seem to find one, because I'd never played the game before I blundered around for a few hours looking for one, getting my ass kicked constantly. Fallout 1 was kind enough to start you with a gun and a knife so you could choose if you wanted to play that way. I would also agree that I like the Master more than Horrigan. However there is one thing about the Master that always bugged me. The Master was supposed to be this super intelligent creature that had a new vision for the perfect earth yadda yadda yadda, yet The Master didn't realize that Super Mutants were sterile. For a hyper intelligent being it just strikes me as a huge oversight.
You need to play the game based on the logic of your character. If you have low melee/unarmed skill you don't go out and start looking for fight while you are unarmed and vulnerable. You sneak, hide, and avoid combat as much as possible just like in real life. And only do jobs and quest that is within your capabilities. I know you will miss out on exp and will set you back behind, but thats the point of role-playing games in my opinion. You stick to the logic of your character based on your current skills and abilities and try as hard to survive.
Fallout 2 is great due to the freedom, you can be anyone you want, including a sleezy pornstar who sleeps with anyone and anything, or you can be a Kung fu master who only attacks with his fists but kicks ass
A tip of advice: avoid energy weapons. Gauss pistol/rifle are better than any energy weapons in the game, while big guns (bozar, vindicator) are the best at close range. The best energy weapon is not even as good as the best in Fallout 1
yo retro, cause of your vid, i started Fallout 2 just 2 days ago and its hard as fuck. its difficult, fustrating, and it doesn't communicate well with the player in terms of teaching the player its features and tools. thus, it hasn't really aged well and you can clearly see how. but suprisingly, its addicting as hell. played a full night away just exploring. and as long as you save regularly, that will cut back on fustraton by a significant amount. random encounters are bullshit and its VERY grind heavy. like, at least 40% or more of your timeis going to be grinding and that SUCKS. but the atmosphere is excellent. i can see the direction it was going for and where its sequels draw from. all in all, ill continue to play. its my first time playing these ones so its going to take some time getting used to, but i feel like its going to be worth it in the end.
Pretty much what ultra just said. Gamers of the 90s approached video gaming differently. There was no internet or any smart phones. You read the "readme" file or the game manual. If you're patient enough to get through FO2, then kudos to you. It's a fantastic game! Food for thought: in 20 years when everyone is playing in a VR world, kids will wonder how on earth holding some plastic xbox remote with buttons and staring at a big screen was fun.
I'm new to the first Fallout. i keep getting my ass kicked in vault 15. i can only shoot enemies once and they hit me like two or three times and kill me. i really want to get into these games, but continually getting my ass handed to me by simple enemies is frustrating.
Sort of ...Fallout 2 is a much bigger game than Fallout 1 but its defiantly more wacky and it does not take it self as serious... Its still Fallout but has more comedy and pop culture references ...Fallout 2 defiantly improved on the gameplay
No ... its hard to match that but Fallout 2 is a fantastic game ....its defiantly different from F1 ...Fallout 1 was more linear ...but more bleak and desolate atmosphere

I agree with you.
William Gregg Thank you, there are so many stupid people that don't.
Did you like Fallout3 or New Vegas?
FO 1 and 2 are both awesome... So memorable and some of the best rpg's I ever played.
Hogo69 I agree 100%

***** meh
+Nichlas håvik I just love the look of all the 90s PC games that look like that.
NuclearUnicorn7 Same. The glow from Fallout 1 is one of the most eerie and memorable places in gaming.

I think Fallout 2 is better in terms of gameplay, but Fallout 1 is better in terms of story and consistency of tone. That said, where's your car?

Ahhh...this one can see.

Fallout 2 is better because the music is the most chilling thing i've heard in my life and a better story.
Khans theme scared the shit out of me!
>fallout 2 has a better story
The fuck you on about?
I don't want to argue but Lot of fallout 2 is reused from fo1, and so much assets too. There is no fo2 without fo1 and I like both of them for different reasons.
My mom works as a receptionist and had a "special encounter". Guess who? It was one of interplays lead designers. Too bad i couldn meet hime though
Fuckin love this game and played the shit out of it in high school. I remember going to New Reno and becoming a porn star.. lol
Fo2 is fo1 but better
NV is fo3 but better
NV2???
BIG DADDY CHOCO Hopefully we find out what NV2 is ..someday..or another Fallout game made by Obsidian
Fallout New Vegas better than Fallout 76
Fo76 is Fo4 but worse...
I believe if Obsidian can buy FO IP, they could make NV2. I'm wishing for it because bathesda doing terrible in handling the franchise

Thank you brother
the mod defecloper MI88 that made the mega mod pack. is taking restoration and merging it into his massive mega mod
It takes a bit of time, but if you can find the ddraw configuration settings (If you downloaded Sfall or the resurrection project) you can change the settings so that during combat you CONTROL COMPANIONS. Replace the line under the line labeled to control combat=2:
;Set to one to directly control companions in combat
ControlCombat=2
Now the game is a lot easier. Also, if you talk to the preist in New Reno, he can tell you where his home is. At that place, you can talk to the trader there about special items and he can sell you super mutant armor if you have Marcus with you, essentially giving him T-51 power armor.
I've played countless games for 17+ years and Fallout 2 is still the best single player game in my heart.
Playing through it currently and honestly one of my favourite games
One of my favorite games of all time
love your retro reviews, it's nice to see people playing older games without complaining about the graphics, and giving a real opinion on great games.
I tend to praise them alot in mine lol. ;P
Usually despite "limited graphics", so many of these older games had such a phenomenal art direction to where they still look great to me.
This UA-cam video got me to buy fallout 2 all those years ago, thank you for that :,) I had so much fun with that game and consider it one of my all time favorites
Engie you should try Planescape Torment next!
I got it on steam a few days ago, it is quite intimidating at first as it is old and these older rpg's are a bit more of a challenge. I will do it though as I love the setting and lore of the series.
+monster hunter 2015 I love the setting and the music ...fuck its amazing
Fallout 1 and 2's faces are the stuff of nightmares.
This is probably my favourite game ever.
+PseudoSarcasm I love Fallout 1&2.
+William Gregg &*
+William Gregg same
Fallout 2 will be one of my best memories of PC games
Same
a frickin pawn star?!
+Tarik VanKantholz Porn star, not pawn star.
+Rebuilt Gearbox He is just poking fun at me becuse when I said it ...it sounded like pawn star too :)
@Professor Bearington hahahah!
@Jovica Jevtic Never heard of it before... It looks actually pretty nice, thank you a lot! I'll give it a try!
@Jovica Jevtic So, I purchased the game. And I have to say, you are one AMAZING person for suggesting it to me! Underrail is just the game I've been looking for, for a REALLY long time. It's wonderful and so much like the original Fallout... Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
Thanks for a real review, all content. Loved it!
Up in the loft today looking for something and found a Fallout 2 disc a little bit scratched take it down to game to get it cleaned and see what happens
Do the steam versions have all those bugs fixed?
6:47 Is that a plasma canister I see?
Man, I really need to go back and replay these! I loved all of them! Excellent vid!
Thanks.. I love the classic Fallout games!
Great review Retro! This def looks amazing! The cutscenes look funny as shit though XD
Lol !
"do dey succeed? do dey fail?"
+Kyle Kennedy You have to play the game to find out Kyle!
Will you do Arcanum? I liked it even more then Fallouts :D
CernobilRS That is on my list ... I've been playing it on and off but I am really interested in giving my thoughts on the game after i beat it.
+RetrospectiveGaming You should do Fallout Tactics before all else.
+NightReaper213 I'm planning on doing that very soon... I have to get vampire the masquerade bloodlines done but that should be my next review after that...i've been slacking
RetrospectiveGaming Oh it doesn't matter take your time I hope I didn't sound like a jerk or something.
+NightReaper213 you didn't its all good
even on multiple evil playthroughs, Myron has always eaten my power glove.
I have to admit that Fallout 2 is my favourite Fallout game so far. Even if there are just a small amount of easter-eggs I still enjoy the gameplay and the story behind the game.
Theres one huge issue with it, if your car runs out of gas in the middle of a town you can never get it back. And I had the NAVComm parts in the trunk, so I couldn't finish the game.
love Fallout 2 the most..Fallout 1 and New Vegas are awesome as well...would love to see a mod that tries to recreate FNV in the Wasteland 2 engine.
Personally I thought 1 was much better. I just had a smooth run on my first playthrough and it was an amazing and immersive ride into a post apocalyptic wasteland.
did you review the arcanum of steamworks and magicks obsura? :3
Not yet ....hoping to review it sometime within the next few months :)
Ah-ROY-Oh not Ah-ROW-Yo. Not dissing you though bro this video is actually my favorite fallout 2 video by far. Great work. Very well said all around!
ah vault city i remember that place i was making heavy speech character and basically instead of paying 200 bucks to be a citizen i spent 150 then blackmail the guy that gave me illegal papers to pay up or i'll turn him in lol. i made 50 bucks profit to become a citizen it was amazing
Any tips? Im not having fun in f2 at all and the story is okish so far but what gets me is the voice acting of arroyo.. like “ you dieded” when you die.. its so irritating the whole premise of arroyo and its people lol 😂
great review dude, instant sub. youre very well spoken
New Reno alone makes this a must play.
New Reno and Vault City are my favorite areas.
I absolutely love the pre rendered CGI scenes of the late 90s and early 00s PC games like fallout 2, baldurs gate and planescape torment, they are just oozing with charm.
Try playing commandos series, Desperados and Robinhood.
They are not rpg thought but they are still fun to play.
This is my favorite Fallout ever. Nice review.
+Cerberus NV Thank you Cerberus
I like Fallout 1 ande also very much Fallout 2 but I really want to see a story that combines both games
After playing all of them, which is your favorite?
Mine are fallout 4 and fallout 2
Fallout 2 and New Vegas.
***** Interesting I don't think I've heard anybody like 1 the most. It's usually 2,3 or NV
Iam already aware that it lists quests but does it display what quest is about and where the npc told me to go/do? if so how?
as far as I remember ..it just tells you what the quest is about in one sentence
Your telling me there is no way to skip to the end only if there was a sliding bar but im not paying youtube for that feature.
GersFry what
YOU gotta pay for a sliding bar its called youtube RED.
GersFry I can skip to the end without UA-cam Red
NO WAY I WANT PROF
Will you make a Fallout Tactics review?
Yes ...I have to get Fallout 4 done first
Ok thanks.
***** Don't worry he always will he doesn't like 3 and 4 that much.
i genuinely want to try this but holy shit those speech models terrify me
I have a question. Work Fallout 1 and 2 on Windows 7? I finaly want play the games befor i have my final exams.
Taidoful they work pretty good on win7
Taidoful They should work..it worked for me on windows 8 and a friend on windows 7
So.... how does ammo work in fallout 1? Is it limited? I cant find a ammo count...
You should see the amount you have in your inventory ...like this lparchive.org/Fallout-2-(by-ddegenha)/Update%2060/11-FO2_D7_12.png
Trick of surviving randon encounters if you had Marcus with you is take off the frigging minigun. :D
Should I play the game first then use the Restoration mod, or just play the vanilla for now?
Restoration mod is good ...just remember to pick "basic" ...it just give you bug fixes
RetrospectiveGaming Thanks. Yeah I really enjoyed Arcanum so I bought Fallout 2 last year for dirt cheap. Enjoying it so far.
+ryn0 They're really old, but they really look cool!
+Joakim Myannna I would really like that Bethesda would make a Fallout game like this again, I'm not saying that the previous Fallout games are bad, they're awesome, but it would be cool if they remade these games.
Joakim Myannna
i might get the first two from steam sometime. It would be cool if they remade them and put them on steam, and then offered the originals for free on the site.
+ryn0 They are on sale now!
+ryn0 It can be tough at first but I got the hang of it after a couple of hours .. this is a good guide for beginners newfallout.com/fallout-1-quick-start-guide/
I'm an enclave supporter
ua-cam.com/video/twlkquoiL0A/v-deo.html
RetrospectiveGaming now that's some good music
Look I'm tracing you right now pal. Lol
+RetrospectiveGaming Thank you so much!!!!
+RetrospectiveGaming Thank you!!!
they need a dlc for Fallout 4 where the Enclave have a come back and invade the commonwealth and fight The Bos.
Maybe it's DLC X
the BOS? you mean the graveyard you call the Boston Airport?
+Creighton Yon its not always a graveyard
No more enclave pls.
My next review is Arcanum...should be out in a week or two! ....I agree people should check out the games that Troika made
RetrospectiveGaming
Cool, i'll watch it.
I don't have much time now, but the Troika games are on top spot of my list to play once I have enough time.
petition to bring back the gauss pistol, never played fallout 2 but it sounds dope as hell
do the bugs come with the steam version
There are some bugs that I have. When I killed people in their bunker it kept crashing a few times, next day it worked fine. Other than not none that I know of.
***** Another hubologist needs your help! I'll mark it on your map of California!
***** That bunker I was talking about is theirs.
How do you set Fo2 to full screen? newbie here
Would be great if you could do a video about phobos2077's Economy and Combat Rebalance mod for Fallout 2. This mod is compatible with Restoration Project and changes the game a lot, for example it adds crafting, some new weapons and also makes skills such as barter or traps much more useful! According to phobos, it even let's you play as a trader, buying things cheaper in one place and then selling high elsewhere :)
if you like fallout 1 and or 2 you should try out Starcraft its got the same kind of old school feel and graphics. great game!
+dogshytreporter I've heard so many good things about Starcraft I have to check it out soon
The journey to Vault City is always the hardest part for me. And just Vault City period
Why, I just burst fired the shit out of everyone stupid enough to oppose me.
Fallout 2 is in the year 2241 ?
I've played Fallout since 1997 and Fallout 2 since 1998 and I don't remember ever having either crash.
Fallout 2 is great due to the freedom, you can be anyone you want, including a sleezy pornstar who sleeps with anyone and anything, or you can be a Kung fu master who only attacks with his fists but kicks ass
I really like your reviews... keep it up!
I thought it was awesome when you talk to jet man and bring up Elton john's rocketman
+John Wenzel Agreed :)
Should port this game to iOS think they could handle it
Probably too hard because of the size of the screen. You can pickup F1 & 2 for 5 dollars on steam though.
A tip of advice: avoid energy weapons. Gauss pistol/rifle are better than any energy weapons in the game, while big guns (bozar, vindicator) are the best at close range. The best energy weapon is not even as good as the best in Fallout 1
I liked the pulse rifle, was fun disengrating enemies to piles of bones. but the loot was hard to pick up hehe
this is really good you made a lot of interesting points thanks
is this game hard even on easy mode?
Haven't played it on the lowest difficulty..its hard in the beginning but it does get easier once you get the hang of it...it really does
first of all why she got a bong that big
yo retro, cause of your vid, i started Fallout 2 just 2 days ago and its hard as fuck. its difficult, fustrating, and it doesn't communicate well with the player in terms of teaching the player its features and tools. thus, it hasn't really aged well and you can clearly see how. but suprisingly, its addicting as hell. played a full night away just exploring. and as long as you save regularly, that will cut back on fustraton by a significant amount. random encounters are bullshit and its VERY grind heavy. like, at least 40% or more of your timeis going to be grinding and that SUCKS. but the atmosphere is excellent. i can see the direction it was going for and where its sequels draw from. all in all, ill continue to play. its my first time playing these ones so its going to take some time getting used to, but i feel like its going to be worth it in the end.
I just beat the first game. I loved the horror vibe. Is there horror in this one too?
Sort of ...Fallout 2 is a much bigger game than Fallout 1 but its defiantly more wacky and it does not take it self as serious... Its still Fallout but has more comedy and pop culture references ...Fallout 2 defiantly improved on the gameplay
RetrospectiveGaming does it have anything on the level of the masters hallway with a living wall in terms of scary?
No ... its hard to match that but Fallout 2 is a fantastic game ....its defiantly different from F1 ...Fallout 1 was more linear ...but more bleak and desolate atmosphere
+Tony Bamanaboni Thanks for pointing that out ...looking back at it..it looks stupid
