My garage contains a 2018 HD FXLR and a 2020 RE Cont. Gt 650. Love the Lowrider, but the little Enfield is getting all the local miles. Such a fun little bike. Easygoing and smooth to operate. No yeet factor, but plenty adequate power and torque for normal riding. Simple and uncomplicated. Should definitely be on the modern classic beginner giveaway list.

I rode my royal enfield classic 500 from Perth Australia to Tasmania. 10000km round trip. Had a crank failure half way across the nullabor. Still got me home actually but it sounded like a drum and kind of died in my drive way. Out of the 16 bikes Iv ever owned the enfield is the best. Despite how slow it is.

The ktm 200's and 390's are far more powerful than 500cc royal Enfield's. Also they're not at all reliable machines! If you think ktm is unreliable, royal Enfield's are 100 times worse

American owner with a 2014 Continental GT 535. LOVE the bike and wouldn't think of getting rid of it. Not the fastest, but VERY FUN. The frame was designed by Harris Performance, the legendary company from England. Extremely easy to work on since it's a single cyl air cooled engine. The UCE engines have hydraulic lifters so no need to mess with valves, etc. It's also one of the most beautiful production bikes I've ever seen. Thanks for doing an RE video!

The FLEAs were dropped with static line parachuting techniques. Essentially the parachute has a long line connected to the air craft. the jumpmaster would push it out the door/off the ramp and the fact that it is falling free pulls the parachute out... And then some one chases it out and hopes they land somewhere near it....

Paul has a 550 cc Scout twin RE. Considered "old school" now but still faster than a HD Sportster 883 and wonderful on the
winding canyon roads. Probably not for todays riders because you have to know how to actually start a motorcycle to get
out of your driveway. Forget about the neutral finder and that ,007 clutch lift will heat up and drag you through a stoplight.

The bullet 350 and 500 are a part of classic cult motorcycles but Enfield never tried to solve the problem with these machines. But they have recently launched twin cylinders which is interceptor 650 and continental gt 650, both these machines are great. Enfield went out of their way and has done a great job. The adventure tourer which is himalayan is also a great motorcycle and can easily give a tough competition to any other premium adventurer tourer.

    *Important*
From India, and I have to say Royal Enfield bikes are absolutely amazing. The current ones on sale in India are Bullet 350cc and 500cc, Classic 350cc and 500cc, Thunderbird 350cc and 500cc, Thunderbird-X 350cc and 500cc. An important point to be noted is that the on-road price for Classic 350cc and 500cc bikes differs based on colour. Gun metal grey (Gun metal grey is available in 350cc only) costs more than the standard black, white or silver colour classic, Stealth Black (Stealth Black is available for 500cc only) is the same too, price varies according to colour. I don't think there's any thing of that sort in the Thunderbird, the price doesn't vary according to colour, the colours are all the same for all bikes. The Thunderbird-X however is different. 350cc Thunderbird-X bikes are available in only red and white colour, 500cc Thunderbird-X bikes are available in only blue and orange colour. The Continental and the Interceptor are 650cc bikes. They're called RE Twins. They're almost similar but it's just that I found the Continental bike to be better in terms of comfortability and the bike handle is quite better in Continental. But other than that it's almost the same. I'd say buy Continental 650 if you're interested in buying the RE 650 bikes. If you're considering the 350cc and 500cc range, I'd say buy the Thunderbird-X. Classic is meant for city roads. You can't sit on it for very long. After an hour or so, your lower back starts to get sore and your elbows start to hurt. This is because of the vibrations. The RE bikes have a lot of vibration, and you can feel it when you hold the handle. At first it doesn't seem to be bothering but an hour or so later it starts to hurt your elbows. The Thunderbird bike is meant for highways and long rides. It's handle is placed in such a way that you can lean back and ride without any sort of body aches. But that's only if you're riding freely like on a highway. On city roads it becomes tough to handle coz you gotta move a lot between vehicles and the handle isn't that easy to turn. Now the Thunderbird-X solves the problem. It's good for city roads as well as highways. You can ride it without any sort of tension in your arms or elbows or your lower back. Now, you might say that it's not the only thing that matters but the fact remains that it does. Pain in your body affects the way you drive. And if you're talking about speed then Thunderbird-X is faster than Classic and Thunderbird. The mileage however (kmpl) is lesser. Thunderbird (350cc) gives you a mileage of between 25-30kmpl which is the same as Classic (350cc). The Thunderbird-X (350cx) however gives you a mileage of around 20-25kmpl. Classic 500cc and Thunderbird 500cc give you a mileage of around 15-20kmpl, while the Thunderbird-X 500cc gives you a mileage of 10-15kmpl. Now you might think what about the RE Bullet? Well it's available in 350cc and 500cc. It's quite similar to RE Classic. But it's available in 2 models:- RE Bullet (350cc & 500cc) which doesn't have a self start and you have to use the kicker to start the bike and the RE Bullet ES or Electra. ES is nothing but Electric Start. It's a Bullet with self start button. Now a lot of people buy Classic instead of Bullet. Some people (like cops) buy Bullet for it's old vintage type looks and the sound that comes from the exhaust pipe. Some buy it as an alternative to Classic coz Bullet is much cheaper (by around 10k-15k rupees). Some people (living in rural areas) buy the Bullet but not the Bullet ES coz they have this belief that it's got a lot of load bearing capacity (which it does) but they think that ES and Classic don't have the same (which they do). Some buy it because it's cheaper than ES by rupees 5k and cheaper than Classic by rupees 20k. But I have to say that, although a lot of people buy the RE Classic bikes, the best amongst the Bullet, Bullet ES, Classic, Thunderbird and Thunderbird-X is the Thunderbird-X.
The RE Himalayan is a 400cc bike. It's comfortable. It's fast. And it's a really good bike for long rides as well as off-road terrain. You can drive it easily in hilly regions. Buy wouldn't recommend it for city roads.
A few years ago Bajaj launched the Dominar 400. And they used the tag line , "Haathi mat Palo" which translates to "Don't keep an elephant as a pet". This was made as a tag line to mock the RE bikes which are heavy. Classic weighs around 190kg and the Thunderbird is around 195-200kg. Dominar weighs around 185kg. Which compared to Classic is not really much of a difference. It's not a good bike. It's just a Bajaj Pulsar 200NS with a 400cc engine and a different headlight and handle. The pillion seat is also small and you can't use this bike for long.
RE bikes get heated up. At times your legs feel the heat. Some people try to cool it down by throwing water on the engine. Don't do that. It's an air cool engine. If it was a liquid cooling or oil cooling engine then it's different but you should not throw water. Whatever type of engine it may be, let it cool by itself. Problem with Dominar is that when it does get heated up, the fuel tank also gets heated up. It doesn't affect the fuel inside but your thighs begin to feel itchy. Dominar 400 has a mileage of 20kmpl but RE 500 (Classic and Thunderbird) gives around the same mileage. And it's a delicate bike.
Pro-tip:- Never use the RE bikes for racing until and unless it's a race between just RE bikes. RE bikes (not the Twins) are not meant for racing.
A lot of people have started to buy Jawa bikes as an alternative to the Royal Enfield bikes. First of all, Jawa has released two bikes till now after it's revival in 2018. The Jawa 42 and Jawa. Both are 300cc bikes. Difference is only in the appearance. The rest, is the same. It's like looking in the mirror but your reflection has different clothes on. I took them both for a ride (rode each bike for 1 hour). And I have to say they're bad. The seat is thin, and not comfortable all the way. Your hips start to ache. After riding the Jawa bike I had to wait for around 15 minutes so that I didn't feel any pain in my ass. Then I sat on the Jawa 42, and it did feel comfortable for a while but after riding for around 7km I started feeling the pain again. Plus both the bikes vibrate a lot (like the RE Bikes). It's like sitting on a wooden chair and it's just vibrating a lot. RE bikes vibrate too but the vibrations don't affect your ass, just your arms and elbows. They're faster than RE 350cc bikes (all 350cc bikes). But you can't use them for long rides.

Nice! I was one (if not the only one?) who requested this. Entertaining content as usual. Little surprised you didn't mention the company's new direction with their acquisition of the British design firm and the subsequent return to the parrellel twin cylinder market with the Continental GT650 and the new Interceptor INT650.

When air dropping the motorcycles, my guess is that they used static lines. So they were already hooked up to the plane and the weight deployed the parachutechute.

Very nice and informative video. It's been 2 months since I bought my brand new Bullet 350 (and yes I'm from India). It's a very simple bike with only the essentials. No extra electronics, although it's now EFI and has single channel ABS. But it keeps the original bullet's charm in this time. I love my bike but can't go for rides because of Corona virus.

Yes man i am from India and i am 20 years old. I have grown up watching royal enfield eveolve around me. Heck in the olden days owning a Royal Enfield was a symbol of royalty in India. And the Royal Enfield Classic350 is still one of the bestselling bikes in India. It has a great cult following. Royal Enfield is an emotion for Indians. Yes modern reviewers say they are vibey at higher speeds, but the bikes are not about high speeds, they are all abot nostalgia. The firm vibrations that come in the handlebars while riding lets the rider know that he's riding something substantial and does bother atleast me that much. Yes they are expensive, they are slow, but Royal Enfield is a part of Indian culture and India's biking culture.

Enfield suffered a bit with the sales of classic 350 and 500 series. They are Beautiful retro looking bikes but bajaj along with ktm came up with more reliable and better bikes with less vibration . But RE is back with a bang. The off road touring bike Himalayan made a big difference in their sales. They rolled out a new bs4 engine recently and bs6 engine is on its way. And last year they launched the 650 twin series. Excellent motorcycles. The interceptor and continental GT 650. In india eicher is back in bussiness . I think they export the 650 twins to USA also.
