i wish people would see more sakura's perspective in this scene. Normally we see everything from naruto, which seems bad the way she acted. but seeing her perspective it is very valid. she was watching her best friends kill himself to save someone, she feels guilty since she was the one that asked him or "put the burden" on naruto to save sasuke. So she is sacrificing her love and a lot more just for naruto to be safe, she herself gave up on sasuke to make naruto at least happy. Yes, it is not as a great idea as one might think, but she is like 15 years old, what 15 y.o. has good ideas? anyway, i just hope you are able to one day understand her

Regardless of this scene, Sakura still has a lot of fans and is one of the most popular characters in Naruto.
It was Sai' idea of using Naruto's feeling about Sakura to stop him chasing after Sasuke. If anything, I would blame Sai for that. But as matured as Sakura was, she herself should know that if she really wanted to confess, she should pick a more personal one on one interaction instead of saying it out loud in a group LMAO 🤣🤣 It looked way too fake even for someone as dumb as Naruto.
I love this episode, Naruto and Sasuke are at such an power absurd level - Naruto just checks Sakura's chacra realizes shes lying, all while hes got 2 elite anbu black ops basically acting as his disciples.

I'm surprised that after so many years since the series ended, many people still don't understand the author's intention through Sakura's part in this episode. She just wanted to lie to reduce the burden on Naruto, and personally assassinated Sasuke. Are all the kids watching the movie so they don't understand? Or are they not intelligent enough to understand?
Say it as it is. The western Naruto fanbase is full of sexist kid adults. There's a difference between being critical and hating her decisions (this one in particular shows her overwhelmed by Sai's comment and being incredibly stupid, yet she was a kid at this point) as well as disliking her lack of strength and empathy in part 1, and just straight-up hating on her because:
1. She has no t*ts.
2. She's a HEALER, which means she's mostly passive, yet makes the least amount of mistakes considering her ROLE as a medic.
3. She has the horrendous female lead trope of being passive aggressive or just plainly showing concern aggressively towards the main character.
4. She's done dirty by being paired up with the emo avenger, but still succeeds on becoming the head medical ninja of Konoha. Yet is always compared to Hinata, who gets respect for choosing to become a housewife, as if her t*ts size and quiet personality weren't a thing. Oh, but people hate Boruto for many things, not realizing one of them is because it shows how much of a failure both Naruto and Hinata are as parents.
People in the west like Hinata more because she is what people want women to go back to. People in the east like Sakura more because she is what they want to be, less submissive and dependant. BUT they still like Hinata because she shows strength differently, and is still the kind, timid, lovely girl they aspire to be. All in all, the eastern seem to have better reading comprehension, critical thinking and maturity level. Which is why One Piece is more loved there.

I'm pretty sure this was Kishimoto screwing with everyone. Okay here's what i believe a lot of people fail to understand in this scene, first of all, Naruto loves Sakura but Sakura loves Sasuke, and if you've watched Naruto you should know that Naruto keeps on getting hurt while trying to bring back Sasuke to the village and he does that because he cares for Sasuke and also because he realises that Sakura loves Sasuke (Narutoep110), so now that that is clear, Sakura and his friends realises that Naruto always gets hurt over Sasuke and Sakura especially blames herself for that because she thinks that he is doing all this because Naruto loves her and so She decides to confess to Naruto and get him to stop from trying to get Sasuke back (not realising he genuinely cares for Sasuke), also i believe that they're doing the right thing and Naruto is the dumb one to try to get sasuke back but after the Itachi lore drop, i believe its kinda understandable but when you look at it from Sakura and friends pov, they don't know that so they decide to kill Sasuke(who literally left the village and doesn't give a fuck about anybody) and end Naruto's Pain, I apologise for yapping too much but just wanted to clear somethings, also if I'm wrong please do reply

I think it’s obvious that Sakura wanted to absolve Naruto from the promise for his safety hence the confession. The main thing people didn’t understand was why didn’t she just tell him straight up that the promise is over.
From my understanding, telling him the promise is over is only going to absolve her of the guilt when she has a responsibility to her village and she made a promise to Shikamaru to persuade Naruto. It also wouldn’t make sense for Naruto since he knew how strong Sakura’s feelings were for Sasuke. She needed a good reason and by redirecting her feelings to Naruto who she knew has a crush on her, her case becomes stronger, or so she thinks because Naruto still didn’t fall for her bullshit. I think she placed more value in the promise than it’s worth and Sai made damn sure of that.
In the end, it did come across inconsiderate but at that moment, she cared more about his safety and her responsibility to the village rather than his feelings (which to some degree a lot people are losing their shit over when they’re never going to be in this position contextually speaking).

The moon is a form of symbolic foreshadowing of a certain character. Noticed how it's always shown in the background during important events? In fact, it's the first thing shown in episode 1 of the anime. The camera focused on it for a few seconds before Nine Tails swipe it's tails in front of it. Although not the first thing shown in the manga, it was there in the first chapter when Iruka was reminiscing about the Nine tails attack. Kishimoto is the GOAT when it comes to foreshadowing. There are also other stuff he used to foreshadow that character aside from the moon.

well sakura tried to stop naruto chasing after sasuke with a lie bcoz back in the days naruto promised sakura that for her he will bring back sasuke. she thinks naruto going throgh all that bcoz of that promise. and she just wanted to stop him saying sasuke means nothing to her now, so he can stop chasing after him. but plot twist, little did she knew that naruto actually loves sasuke and thats the only reason he is after him from day one

I mean the execution is butchered to all hell but the scene just reaffirms how much Sakura cares about Naruto, she was trying to relieve him from a burden she was led to believe she had caused and honestly didn't hurt him in the process. He very clearly knew something was up and saw through it, he was not hurt just confused and proceeded to let her know hes doing it of his own volition. I honestly don't really care about this scene because Sakura and Naruto remained very tight knit and they truly care for one another🤷

People know what she was trying to do. people literally just don't like to be manipulated and lied to regardless of the reasoning. It could also be argued she did it put of self guilt rather than just for naruto which adds another layer of it just coming off as extremely disingenuous. I'm one of your biggest fans and it's completely fine to have different opinions about a character and I'm not here trying to say that she's right or something...
I completely understand why you hated this scene just like anyone else but I feel like maybe I can explain it in a different point of view maybe not everyone was able to see...
She was under a lot of pressure and stress just like Naruto. She thought that their old promise was the reason for Naruto's constant torment. All she could think about was trying to ease Naruto's burden and free him from these restrictions.Her intentions were pure and her actions carried concern, fear and care for Naruto and Sasuke.She never meant to hurt his feelings, quite the opposite...but in the end she had to choose between Naruto and Sasuke, and it's not an easy thing for Sakura, but she chose to end Naruto's tragedy.And at the same time to prevent Sasuke from being drawn into darkness further....

Kishimoto did Sakura soooo dirty in this scene... he really, and self admitedly, was awful at writing female characters....
People like to meme on this Sakura moment a lot, but I find it incredibly realistic. Aside from the fact that she's a teenager and this exact scenario 100% happened to me more than once when I was a teenager, she's seen how much Naruto has suffered and hurt because of the promise he made to her, and her guilt is telling her that this is an okay alternative to continuing to hold him to his promise. Part of her also probably believes it, or wants to believe that she's in love with Naruto. It's a great moment for Naruto as it shows us how far he's come emotionally that he's able to pick up on it. She's not playing with him to play with him, she's trying to help him and at the same time trying to help herself by forcing herself to love Naruto. It is selfish, but it's incredibly realistic. I also think it plays a liiiiittle better in the dub, if I'm honest.

Looks like you, just like 99% of people watching this scene, didn't understand it (which makes sense since humans are naturally un-empathetic to both sides of a story and prefer to bias their own side)
You're only looking at Naruto and the audiences point of view, not Sakura's. Put yourself in her shoes and think about the entire context of the situation. Her decision to "confess" to Naruto isn't without reason. The entire world at this point is now at war with Tobi/Sasuke/Kabuto & all he's brought back). Naruto is integral to this war, from both sides. Meanwhile, Naruto is still constantly thinking about Sasuke (and now he just got word that Sasuke is basically a wanted man), and the promise he made to Sakura that he'd bring him back (this part is VERY important to this scene). Naruto has a MASSIVE burden on his shoulders; probably more than anyone else in the show at this point.
Now that you know the context, lets look back at Sakura's point of view.; Sakura has a choice in this part of the anime. She knows Naruto isn't giving up on going after Sasuke, and she knows it could be disastrous if he's caught in this war. If Naruto is captured its quite literally the end of humanity as they know it... She also knows just how huge of a burden Naruto carries and how that could compound in him if continued (he literally has a panic attack soon after this), so if you're in her position, how do you try to save the world? what she chooses, is to attempt to nip all 3 of those disastrous potential outcomes in the bud. If she can get Naruto to be with her and believe that she really loves him and doesn't care about Sasuke anymore, then that would make the promise he made to her irrelivant, and it would also give him greater reason to step away from the war and therefore potentially save the world.
Now, having said that, it IS technically emotional manipulation on her part. But just like with everything in life, it's not black and white. Something isn't inherently bad just because you don't understand the context. Just like in a lot of great anime, it's an interesting thought experiment where you are given an impossible choice and there's not really a right answer. If she does nothing and continues whatever she was doing (like a lot of people, including you would've preferred), then she'd live with the guilt of knowing she didn't try to stop Naruto or that she could've saved the world but chose not to try. But then if she chooses to TRY, then she's manipulating her friend, and she knows that. She has a unique opportunity that nobody else has because she knows Naruto has always had a crush on her, and she's also the one person he made a promise to and didn't follow through on it.
In the end, was it a crappy thing to do? yes. Was it manipulative? yes. Does it make her character bad? No, quite the opposite actually. It shows she has the resolve make tough choices during war, and if you don't think this was a tough choice for her, then (again) I think you should re-evaluate the context of the situation from HER point of view.
