I maintain the opinion that Lee would have won had he not used the gates. Lee would have just ripped off the armor over and over at normal speed and eventually won.
Lee just didn't know if Gaara would have the armor indefinitely or not. But Kankuro tells us as the audience on the inner monologue that it does use massive chakra.

if lee and gaara were both in different fights then they would have never grew this fight made a difference in both their characters

When I was first watching Naruto I liked it, but when I got to Garra vs rock lee I was hooked. I knew it was going to be one of my favourite shows period. Then it became my favourite show not only anime when I watched more. It gets even better!
Same. I was kind of anime hater but Naruto was ok so I watched that show on tv sometimes. And one day I walked near tv when this fight was aired. My anime resist faild completely and boom- i am hooked.

The Chunin Exam is where Naruto reaches its peak. It introduces some top tier characters, has some of the best fights, and some of the most heart-breaking moments. And that fight with Gaara and Rock Lee... one of the best fights in anime history!

The Rock Lee vs Gaara fight is what got me into anime 8 years ago. It's still my top 5 anime fight of all time.
Guy is definitely the best sensei in this series with how much he cares for his students. You're going to just keep on loving him from this day on.

Man, I gotta say, watching Naruto on Toonami as it aired back in the day was something else! They REALLY hyped up this show so much, particularly this arc, and it really felt like something special. They treated Gaara vs Rock Lee with such respect and reverence, they even had more than one special re-broadcast of the fight months later! Ah, those were the days!~

To think some people are like "yeah, you can skip Naruto and go straight to Shippuden" or "who cares about dragon ball, Z is way better". You're able to appreciate the journey because you saw wheres they start. Sure, now, you don't care about Choji or Shikamaru, you hate Neji or you're scared of Gaara. But they'll grow so much before Shippuden and most characters will be forgotten during it... This period is the best one by far, even if Shippuden has some amazing point, and the OG some low point. Kishimoto was trying something back then that was amazing. Seeing how it ended makes me so sad... what a waste of potential.
I love Hinata and Lee fights. They have weakness and they fought all the way to prove they're worth something. And in the end, they're just broken, almost unable to live normal life, let alone stay ninjas afterward. It's a powerful message that yes, work can do wonders, but not everyone can survive it, especially against the wrong opponent. Let's not forget, those are 12 to...maybe 14 or 15 for Kankuro and Temari, teenagers fighting in a small war against bigger players. Like Zabuza, they're sacrifices that pay the price. That what I love about Naruto, even in its lowest state. It always tries to make so you see the horror of war, way before something like Attack on Titan. If anything, I think that's why, compared to One Piece and Bleach, it was so popular at that time. They're something...so raw, so personal with those characters and their stories... I may have been angry with its ending but it feels so nostalgic watching people like you discover it... That's my teenage years here, and I think I might give it a try again, manga form. After 8 years, it might be time to forgive and to give another try, with an adult mind.

It might have made sense to include the Choji fight - just so you wouldn't have to start out the next block with that fight... That is, if you plan to include it. I wouldn't be heartbroken, if it somehow went missing. This section has some good fights. Suprisingly, the Sakura fight was pretty good, simply because she doesn't have any special magical abilities & has to rely on hand to hand techniques. That makes for good choreography. Having them both lose is a bit disappointing, but maybe it's also a bit appropriate. It kinda symbolizes their roles as characters, at the moment. Naruto has been a pretty straightforward series, so far... But, it's about to get complicated.
