I do think civilian review boards of officials that are elected every 2 years who have the power to dole out punishments and refer charges to the DA might be more effective in rooting out the rot.

When a cop gets caught lying or fabricating evidence, the person charged should automatically be set free! But… that cop should face the exact sentence that the cop just tried to frame the person for.
If a cop lies and says I was dealing drugs and plants evidence, as soon as it’s determined I need to have all charges dropped. If I was facing 10yrs for dealing drugs, then that cop should mandatorily get 10yrs.

The chief knew 100% they know better and the use the system in their favor. They should review every single case they’ve prosecuted over the past years they’ve been in and get a special prosecutor to indite the DA, chief and other officers involved wrongful prosecutions and deprivation of rights. This happens all over America and it’s a business for corrupt politicians and police departments

Good job of finally bringing to light the corruption that's infected the police departments throughout Arizona. But mainstream media should give credit to the trailblazer independent journalists and cop watching citizens who have been revealing these tyrant cops for many years before this incident ever happened.

City of Phoenix is so corrupt it’s pathetic. I should know I’ve worked there for years, I’m close to retirement. I’ve seen stuff that happens to employees just because someone in management doesn’t like them or management does something that’s illegal. Employees can report an incident to a system that’s supposed to keep the persons identity secret, but it doesn’t! This employee was off one day for a medical reason. Something happened in his area of duty. Management wrote him up and recommended that he be terminated. A hearing was set up with the department director for both sides to present evidence. Manage presented their side and recommended the employee be terminated as they said this is a on going issue with this employee. They presented how many times he was required to do drug test (that he passed every time) so on, and so forth. The employee did nothing but present his leave slip for the day showing he wasn’t at work this day! How do I know this? I was the employee!

The Phoenix Police Chief was correct in explaining the definition of “Voir Dire.”The definition used for Voir Dire which is French for speaks the truth. In court it is related to jurors and witnesses. In court cases when law enforcement testifies, they are witnesses.
