Great video and useful commentary. I haven't measured my mileage yet, but I always have a grin on my face when I fill up and it costs basically $5 here in Australia. I paid using spare change in my jeans fob pocket yesterday. And yes, I also love the mechanical sounds, and trying to get that super smooth gearchange. 👍🇦🇺
For an accurate measurement of fuel consumption, simply fill your tank to the brim and zero your trip meter. Then ride for 80-100 miles and refill your tank. Note how much fuel it takes to fill it back to the brim, and how many miles you have covered on the trip meter. Then divide the miles by the amount of fuel you have put in the tank. So if you put in 0.75 gallons and you have covered 100 miles, that's 100/0.75 = 133.33mpg.
I’ll check mine next week. An interesting note is you can push start the cub. #1 Turn on ignition. #2 Get rolling in neutral at around 5mph. #3 shift into first gear and let off your heal on shifter.
yup, and possibly better with a little babying, keeping speed down at 30-35 mph, correct full tire pressure, maybe add a small wind screen... (pushing more air aside and/or over instead of your body being a parachute)
Sounds right, 100 miles on 0.76 gallons = 131 mpg. Drove my 1966 S90 for years with similar power, top speed but carbureted and remember ~120 mpg. Thinking about getting one of these, thanks!
Hello Gus from London England, thank you so much for such an informative video. I had a super cub many years ago and have seen quite a few videos on the new model and no one it seems has thought of answering the question of how far it goes on a full tank. Many thanks 😊
I have a 2021 Supercub. I've been getting 125mpg. But that includes a lot of city riding. And not to mention riding rather aggressively because it's only 9 hp. I calculate when the last bar starts blinking....I have 30 miles left.
Yeah I can remember doing that to all the bikes I owned even the cars that I had owned in the past that were carbureted and fed by a mechanical fuel pump off the engine block. The old bikes I had 75 Yamaha rd350 Honda cb350, when I had to switch over to reserve keep in just a little bit of gas in the water bottle once it ran out just to find out how far I could go. It was always something that I thought was important to know. Love to do it with my 2006 Honda VTX 1300r, but I'll get around to the one of these days. Always look forward to your content, head on a swivel and cover your break. Later.
Thanks for sharing your story. Yes the good old days when it was mechanical. Glad that you are enjoying the content, thank you for your kind words. You have a good week Douglas and ride safe.
What a great bike. I have a Vespa 300... It can go 80MPH and I have ridden it on the Interstate.. It's remarkably capable... but it doesn't get 125miles to the gallon! I think it's more like 70/gallon.
Insane fuel economy. It's way too bad Honda doesn't use this kind of transmission on many other scooters and bikes. It is so damn good for what it costs. The only thing i might be a bit worried about would be fuel pump wearing quicker with such a small tank, likely having to pump from the bottom more often than most other scooters, maybe pumping some air with it... i would have liked a slightly bigger tank.
I did enjoy watching that video. ☺️ Hey just a thought why not take like a spare quart of gas with you and see just how far you can get with it sometime. When it runs out just pour that quart in and be within 20 miles of a fueling station. 😁
@@gustwowheeling7337 Since I wrote last I have purchased a second hand 2019 Cub, (to keep the Monkey company) with 4500 miles on it. Should be delivered on Tuesday. I wonder how they will compare ?
If you calculate how much he had left (0.29 gallons), then it is 140mpg. The tank is actually just slightly bigger than a gallon so its even better than that and also depends on the riding done.
Being in UK as you probably know, a gallon here is 4.54 litres. I think Honda say 188 to gallon is referring to an Imperial gallon, so maybe add 20% to mileage. Still short of 188, but 150 is very achievable. Take care.
Last week I purchased a used 2021 Red Super Cub with only 75 miles on it. There is not a scratch on it. I love it.
That is very close to new with 75 miles, it probably has the first gas fill up. Congrats Phillip and ride safe.
Super Cub and Gus make an excellent team. Thanks!
Thank you! The Super Cub is a great teammate. Thank you for watching and ride safe.

Thank you Wesley! It is a wonderful machine. Thanks for watching, have a good week and ride safe.

yes and... do it every time you fill up to give you enough data to be a real world average. I love the fact that it get's 130mpg.
Totally agree with you about the appealing sounds of this little bike. Thanks for sharing
You're welcome! Thanks for watching, and ride safe.

That's wonderful, 1966! They are fun to ride, you will be riding memory lane with it. Thanks for watching, have a good week and safe travels.

Thank you for your kind words, and thank you for watching. Ride safe Edward!
The channel Some Guy Rides did the TAT on a Honda CT125. He got 133 mpg and he was riding trails really pushing it, pinned most of the time.
Yes...I have watched a couple of his episodes. Thank you for watching and ride safe.

That’s great John, thirty miles sounds about right. Thank you for watching and ride safe.
100mpg - awesome clean machine - stay cool Gus!
Thanks! Great gas mileage. Thank you watching, stay cool, and ride safe.

Yes a little bigger tank would be nice. Thank you for watching and ride safe.
Honda does use this tranny..in most of their four wheeler quads..
100.1 miles on .76 gallons is 131.7 mpg. Pretty good!
It sips the fuel, that's for sure. Thank you for watching and ride safe.
I did enjoy watching that video. ☺️

Good morning Bro! I'm glad you liked the video. That is good idea. Thanks for watching and ride safe.
2021 cub 163 mpg on flat long runs and 140 mpg in a hilly area
That's awesome! Thanks for watching and ride safe.
touring around the Dutch flowerbulbfields last weekend i did 60 km/liter= (140ml/gallon(US)
Oh...I bet you have some great places to ride a motorcycle where you live. Thanks for watching and ride safe.
My brother is trying to buy the 50cc version for me well I'll have something to drive on the main road
You have a nice brother. sorry for responding back late. Thanks for watching and ride safe.
I recently bought a Monkey Bike, (same engine) and Iam getting 160 to 170 to the gallon. N.B. British gallons are 1.25 U.S. gallons.
That's wonderful John. The monkey is a great bike, I'm glad that you are enjoining it. Thanks for watching and ride safe.

You will find out soon. Glad to hear you got one, ride safe.
If you started on full, that is 131.71 mpg. Very nice.
Thank you for watching and ride safe.
Even before watching this I was thinking they get around 90 or so, one reason they've sold so many millions of them!
Yes...I'm happy with the mileage. Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment. You have a good rest of the weekend and a good week. Ride safe!
Good fuel efficiency but still miles below 188 Honda quoted
Yes still good fuel mileage. I didn't know Honda quoted that high. Thanks for watching, have a good weekend and ride safe.

Times are changing. Small is the way to go these days. By the 4th of July you will not be able to give a Harley away let alone and F-150.
Yes they are Mark. Thanks for watching and ride safe.
Mine got 118mpg at fill up today. Recreational fuel gives better mileage. Alcohol gives poor mileage; gasoline gives better mileage.

That’s great Jack. It sips the fuel. Thanks for watching and ride safe.
I heard Honda gets 150 per tank ?
I have heard that as well. So far I have gotten 118 miles, and there was 3/10 still left in gas tank. Thank you for watching and ride safe Miguel.
He didn't run it out of gas Honda says it gets 155 miles a tankful
No I didn't run out. Thanks for watching, ride safe.
