- If anyone can make Dan exclaim, "If you don't get the hell away from your microphone, I'm going to keep you here all day," it's today's Stansberry Investor Hour guest: geopolitical strategist and New York Times bestselling author Peter Zeihan.
But first, Dan and his co-host Corey McLaughlin kick off the show by dissecting the conflicting - and confusing - news headlines on the direction of stocks and housing into 2023. The duo also evaluates ARK Investment Management founder Cathie Wood's latest Twitter ramblings (and why she sounds like a certain founder of a certain defunct cryptocurrency exchange).
Circling back to today's guest, Peter is also the founder of his own firm, Zeihan on Geopolitics, where he provides his expert analysis to clients that include Fortune 500 companies, trade associations, policymakers, and government agencies of all levels. His first three books - The Absent Superpower, The Accidental Superpower, and Disunited Nations - have been recommended by U.S. Senator Mitt Romney, political scientist Ian Bremmer, and CNN anchor Fareed Zakaria. His fourth book, The End of the World Is Just the Beginning: Mapping the Collapse of Globalization, was published in June 2022 and is a New York Times bestseller.
And in this week's episode, he and Dan start by diving into the topic of deglobalization. Peter says the pace of deglobalization has accelerated since the start of the current decade - fueled by declining birth rates and an aging population. Additional kindling has come in the form of the COVID-19 pandemic, Chinese President Xi Jinping's narcissistic "cult of personality," and the Russia-Ukraine war. Global economies are in for some grim times... And as Peter puts it, "We are looking at the end of the world that we understand - probably in the next 36 months."

Thank you sir!!!!
Many thanks 🙏
Not all heroes wear capes.
Wow that's a long rant! Thank you for your service in helping me avoid that.
This comment should be pinned.
Here because im following all things peter zeihan. His insights are just fucking fantastic
And quite a bit too rosy.
He’s a government op. Absolutely not to be trusted.
@@spetruzify Oh lordy. His livelihood depends on being correct.
Peter's insight is quite deep
I'm listening to this bc of Peter. great stuff
Love me some Peter Zeihan
What a great interview, please bring Peter back soon.
Who are these guys? I tuned in to hear PZ.
Am I the only one who fast forwarded and skipped the nonsense ranting at the beginning to the interview? Guys, thanks for the interview, but when you have a guest like PZ on, leave out your rants and opinions at the beginning and focus on a longer interview with good questions and just let the man speak. There's a reason why he's blowing up all over the internet and UA-cam and you're not...lol...
You are not the only one. Super annoying, seemed kinda disrespectful.
These people are so short term and will almost certainly lag the S&P for their whole lives.
Yeah. The whole spiel was maybe it will go up maybe it will go down.
Just a waste of time.
Obviously it goes up or goes down. We ain’t idiots.
I mean it their channel, and they are allowed to do what they want. You should be the one to fast forward.
Thanks for the heads up---I also fast forwarded the interview to skip the early gibberish.
17:55 you're welcome.
I want to hear followup about the Chinese navy and expert opinion about the capability to secure their imports.
@@SeattlePioneer do you think convoy protection is not possible by the Chinese navy? What about a single escort vessel with backup by long range lossless?
@@prst99 A more likely scenario rather that actually sinking such ships is to merely intern them at any of many ports along the way for not having adequate insurance or other documentation.
After all, "sanctions" don't involve blowing things up (NS2 aside). Merely exerting the regulatory powers of various states.
A Chinese destroyer in the Mediterranean that got uppity, for example, might be refused transit across the Suez Canal, and find itself having to go around Africa to get home. No guarantees that anyone would provide fuel for such a trip, of course.
The Chinese navy is good at picking on ships of the Philippines, but would rapidly find itself outclassed for more ambitious assignments.
@@SeattlePioneer Lol, Zeihans an imperialist fantasist, his advocating of piracy on the high seas isn't surprising, but whatever would transpire in such a given situation, would be additional to the US bioweapon attack on Wuhan, and subsequent global pandemic. Americans have hell to pay and its days of being the sole hegemon are numbered.

Are we thinking like long-term Mexico Based Manufacturing stocks / United states Based Manufacturing securities?
Reits focused in Texas?
Thanks Stansberry
I have a question about the growing anti American (which is kinda deserved) sentiment in Mexico. Also the increased instability and consolidation of power by the military. Also with groups like the New Generation Cartel are drastically increasing the violence in the country. From where I stand, and i realize I am missing a lot of information, the current US position with Mexico is politically and socially breaking down. Im just curious what you think needs to be done to resolve this.
America will basically have to militarily occupy Mexico to completely wipe out the cartels before Mexico can fully be integrated with america
Mexico became a bigger trade partner with the US under Trump, and is getting bigger. Not sure why there would be growing anti-US sentiment.
The reality for Mexico is very simple. They are either part of NAFTA or they are not. If they choose to go down the route of not being part of NAFTA they will probably fail as a country drastically.
If the new Generation of Cartel decide to over step the boundary they will get a lesson very quickly about what happens. This has happened several times before. Nothing new in it.
@bighand69 while I appreciate and agree with your sentiment, that doesn't really answer the question. I type this a day after zelensky visited Washington and biden approved ANOTHER $47billion aid package for Ukraine. The question remains what exactly are we buying with that money. I happen to agree with your stance on Mexico but I'd like to think there is a more efficient, more productive way to progress there than to wait for the cartels to fuck it up and then go in and clean up their mess. Or are we ready for another 10-20yr, $2trillion nation building project.

The US is not giving Ukraine cash they are giving them weapons and giving it a valuation. All those Javelins cost a lot of money with each costing $250000. Each patriot missile cost 4 million a pop.
Enjoy po thank you for sharing TSUENO camel po
James Burke thank you for writing about what you know in the countries France and Sweden. I didn’t know.
Wow if the immigrants aren’t assimilating then there could be problems down the road.
I've lived all over Europe since 1979 on and off. Immigration from Africa and the Middle East has created at least a dozen hot spots for civil wars to spark in Europe. Keep in mind ethnic tribal people from those regions hate each other and don't see each other as human beings, and they hate Europeans who have given them homes, welfare, and an elevated standard of living.
France deserves it considering most immigration are from former colonies. France grip on her former colonies have consequences. I don’t know about Sweden.
@@jaybee4577 the beauty of the internet is that you can get information from people who have history or who have been there. So you have lived in France then or live there?
No matter. Thanks for the info

I know this is politically incorrect, but when Peter Z points to France and Sweden as being the only EU countries with a good demographic structure, we would be wise to look at the reason: they have very large Muslim and African populations that are reproducing, while the native French and Swedes are not.
The question then becomes: are these immigrant groups assimilating? And the answer is "no". If they were, then their race or ethnicity wouldn't matter so much, (as immigrant groups in the US have largely assimilated reasonably well). But if there is a large, and growing population of immigrants who live separately, and increasingly clash culturally with the host country..... then you are ultimately looking at a situation like the former Yugoslavia.
So much for economic growth then!!!!
Yep, Eurabia is on the way.
I saw it all over Europe brewing, and it's getting worse for real. I saw pockets of ethnic immigrants forming all over, and they are nether for work much of the time, but to take welfare without contributing.
They are also much more prone to violence, with low intellect, which means easily stirred to anger, looking for someone to blame.
@@LRRPFco52 Very peaceful Sweden has had a 10x increase in violent crimes - rape, assault, etc. - in the last 10 years, and it's not Swedes committing these crimes. I've seen numerous interviews with Swedes in the last few years talking about this. One mayor of a town in Norway, in response to all the rapes taking place, suggested their women stay indoors after 6pm -- that's the sick mentality of these cowards. Like you saId, it's all over Europe, now. A friend of mine went to London 5 or 6 years ago for about a week, and saw very few native Brits, except for inside the theaters for the plays she attended. One Scandinavian woman who was raped by 4 muslim immigrants, I believe in Norway, wrote a letter apologizing to them after they were arrested. Suicide. These immigrants are getting weekly checks and housing in lovely apartments while they hang around on the street corners and in pubs all day. No commentary on the economic impact of all this, Mr. Zeihan? How about the 3,000 farms in the Netherlands that are about to be shut down (same situation in Canada)? No comment, Pete? How about the latest plandemic simulation held in Belgium in October, hosted by the WHO, Johns Hopkins Univ., Bill Gates and the gang (just like Event 201 in the fall of 2019)? I've now listened to 2 hours of Zeihan interviews, and I find him with too many blindspots to listen to him anymore. Not sure if those are actually blindspots or deliberate obfuscations.
@@LRRPFco52 Just saw the news about rioting Moroccans all over France - Paris, Nice, Grenoble, Lyon - after France's victory in the World Cup match. ua-cam.com/video/XIHmZ0rOEbg/v-deo.html
That has absolutely no affect on the demographics of Sweden. The native and replacement rate of France and Sweden means that they are not in the same position as Germany. Germany has a massive immigrant population as well but it has not save them.

With everything going on right now, the best decision to be on any creative man's heart is having a profitable investment strategy.
Investing is the code for having a successful financial life, investing with the right expert would free you from modern financial slavery.
Investing in crypto now is really cool especially with the current price in the market for now
Even with the current dip in the market I'm still glad can smile back at my portfolio of $32,500 built from my weekly trade, all thanks to my advisor fergus Waylen

It's funny how Peter thinks Trump was the one blackmailing Ukraine when we have video evidence that it was Biden when he was VP. Other than that keep up the good work.
I mean he is factually correct trump did. I’m not saying biden didn’t also but this is not a partisan issue.
Peter is a refreshing breath of fresh perspective with a broad understand of global maters.
Of the talking heads out there Peter has my attention when he talks. art
He says inflation in US is good news at the end of podcast next time you invite him, please ask him why he thinks inflation is a good news.
Because he’s a sick bastard. Dude is product of the deep state.
IMHO, I think he is referring to the inflation from supply side shortages and predicted blistering economic growth of North America vs the current inflation of today which also has elements of supply side shortages, energy cost and inflationary monetary policy which is crippling to an economy. To be fair it seems to be cooling as of late is it is still not good.
@@Tyneraswe are experiencing huge wage increases… This is why the fed is cooling the economy. Our money is global not local so the inflation question is moot. Most of those dollars leave as we buy a lot of stuff thus we need to continue to print in order maintain internal money supply
He's talking about wage inflation Wage growth for America's working class Who's wages have been flat since 1970
Over a long time its help redistribute the pie alot more favorably than we got now atleast that's the hope..
We have a massive labor shortage for atleast another decade labor shortage equal labor inflation especially at the lower economic end
The financial analysis was really bad. It’s just wasting time. Sorry guys.
The US sucks at nation building because of its love of Neoliberal Economic theory. This theory is based not on the real world, but instead on a fantasy world that was created by the Theory when it made assumptions about the economy. The theory then used the assumptions to prove the conclusions that it wanted to prove. Those assumptions are false in our real world. And in logic it is forbidden to use any false assumptions to prove your conclusions. Neoliberal econ. was designed to make the already rich (here foreigners =Americans) richer. And, when applied in a new nation it always fucks up the economy for the masses who then resist with improvised road side explosives. Basically, America isn't building nations it is exploiting them.
Maybe but who hasn’t in history lol
The hosts of the program rant for far too long. 5 minutes tops, lads. Save the time for you guests.

I think Peter is a bit off on his Ukraine views. I think Col McGregor has a better assessment
McGregor is a pro Putin hack
the first 15 minutes is just babbling gossip
Peter’s arrogance re: US conventional military superiority vs Russia is highly misleading.
John Mearsheimer is 1000% correct in that due to Russia’s nuclear superpower capabilities, the US would never DARE to attempt to crush Russia military in a direct Russia vs USA war.
To do so i.e. “The Russians wouldn’t have power right now” on the part of the west would certainly end Russia, it would also end the USA as we know it and Europe as well.
Nobody save for a few cool heads, truly understands what that would mean. Say hello to the unipolar Chinese millennium.
