    According to the owner of the company I work for, this single quarter has been more profitable than the last 6 combined, all thanks to "inflation." Which is to say, he heard there was inflation and jacked our prices by 25%, then blamed inflation. I have to assume this is not uncommon.

      Well it is America so it will get saved. No matter what happens, disasters, pandemics, plagues, war, terrorism etc, the Govt or administrations in power will always put the stock market first. Anytime anything ever happens, they don't save the people, the citizens, the poor, the homeless, the jobless, they pump the markets with steroids and artificially save the 1% and the lucky upper class that actually have enough money on the sidelines to invest. America doesn't care about the bottom, only their precious markets. I'm not worried, I am 45, prepared to lose it all but everything I have ever worked for is tied up in investments at the moment, no debt, but nothing liquid either so if it all busts, The fed and the Administration will do everything they can to make the markets look good again no matter who gets burnt, that seems to be the only thing that matters to them.
      I was underwater and let it ride after the .com bubble since I was a new investor I was learning and devastated but I held long and did alright. 911 same thing, 2008 was the worst, I did take some losses and pulled some cash off the table but jumped back in slowly and made that back and then some. Now it's just a wash, rinse and repeat cycle. Everyone has their 2 cents and over analysis meaningless crap that is irrelevant to the long term. I'm prepared to see my portfolio lose 20% and if it takes 2-3 years to see that recover, I am ok with that because look at history. Nothing to get alarmed about. After we recover to out of the red, it is a sure bet we take off for another 10 years and it's almost guaranteed to repeat with the exception of the next pandemic since we obviously still haven't learned anything from the last one, or any that have come before. I guess we could say the same about bail outs and deregulations, but hey, it's all good. If you want to wait for the bottom or the next crash and cross your fingers for a better position then so be it.
      The smart money and the brave will hold and buy more on the crash. I say bring it. Lets get it on and over with it if all these "experts" are so sure. After all it was the "experts" that got smoked by reddit users so I hope it crashes, It will only force me to increase my positions. Allez.

    Whether it was Japan in the 80's or USA in the 20's, markets like that were very leveraged by not just institutions but also the retail investor. Today in the USA we don't see that, though that might be on the way? It's notable that people use leverage at the worst and most dangerous ratios in history with Real Estate but have yet to really transfer that to their liquid assets. I've been an advisor for 30 yrs, a deep value guy, and with all the Rosey economic news coming...if there's going to be a crash, first we need more euphoria from all the "good news" about the post covid economies of the world. Once that wears off? One would think a big downturn from excessive valuations will be due.

    I 100% agree. Jeremy Grantham is a knowledgeable guy and historic data is a great resource, especially when it's all we have. Still, he doesn't seem like the best source of information for a world where the majority of retail investors don't have a dedicated advisor and essentially have access to the same sorts of information as advisors do, if they chose to review that information and know-how to interpret it. Will there be corrections in the stock market in the future? Of course. Will massive corrections happen after a bunch of 19-year-olds thought a cannabis company was the next Apple? I anxiously await that one, honestly. It's not an exact science and he speaks of it in this video as if it is. Literally, every daily factor of life contributes to the valuations of the market at large. Father knows best may be based on outdated or at the very least, incomplete information. The players in the market have changed quite drastically in the last 15 years and especially in the last 5 years. Statistical analysts need to rethink their cost and effect data-sourcing.

      I dont agree with the united nations views on globalstion and I have no reason to they have lied about the liberal world order created after ww2 and the mulitlatral organisations connected to it and all I saw from that was greed and russia making it out they are not part of that when they joined the federal reserve in 1991 5 days before the soviet union collapsed in 1991 and was replaced with the russian federation is so clear to see now the same happend with the eu when the ru and came into existence at the same time

      The uk is about to collapse everything is under corporate control that's how your government in Russia with the kgb and westminster have destroyed both countries for the globalists now and this is a good thing whats happening with game stop but they are obviously stopping a loophole which I dont think they can do because it is possible for normal people to take control of the stockmarket this way

      How did it go?

  • @joostvw3692
    @joostvw3692 3 роки тому

    This speaks my mind exactly:
    The problem is that the real value of a company is starting to be less improtant; and that the hype of investors, so called ''trust'' makes stock rise fast and high, also due to the computerized speed how stocks are traded. Of course the more buyers are on a stock, the more priced it will get; until the sale begins and the stock will drop dramatically. It can even get so dramatic that it will drop further then the real value. But unless the company's stock get to zero (and thus bankrupt), it still will have the real value it has had.
    The basics of stock trading should be dividend: you invest in a stock to give the company ability to invest and grow and in return for that you get a profit. But dividend these days is even less then inflation. Divedend isn't the drive of the stock market anymore. And that makes no sense.

    Who agrees with Grantham? Who disagrees? Why?
    Whilst I agree that one day there will be a downturn (hot take 😂 ) listening to folk like him, I think his 'sample data' is bias. Since WW2, and especcially since the Reagen revolution things have been peachy for markets long term in a 'the future will be better tomorrow' sense... Well... Eventually...
    The problem is the markets have not had to deal with any big fundemental change in the socio-economic paradigm in which they operate, least of all in a society that is no longer growing forward but has objectively stagnated for most.
    I think the creaks are starting to show. The reasons people vote for Trump? Did a Gamestop? The grievances after the Great Recession 1.0 nevermind the impending 2.0 'the corona update', being left unadressed? That is just the start.
    There are things going on irl that if not properly handled could get messy, in the next 10 years or so. And I dont think Grantham or the folks at the FT are in the habit of factoring them into their, shall we say, 'traditional' analysis.

      I 100% agree. Jeremy is a knowledgeable guy and historic data is a great resource, especially when it's all we have. Still, he doesn't seem like the best source of information for a world where the majority of retail investors don't have a dedicated advisor and essentially have access to the same sorts of information as advisors do, if they chose to review that information and know-how to interpret it. Will there be corrections in the stock market in the future? Of course. Will massive corrections happen a bunch of 19-year-olds thought a cannabis company was the next Apple? I anxiously await that one, honestly. It's not an exact science and speaks of it in this video as if it is. Literally, every daily factor of life contributes to the valuations of the market at large.
