Judy Dench says that Mrs Brown was the most exhausting film she ever worked on. They'd spend all day on set then all night in the bar listening to Billy tell stories.
Billy connelly is a scottish national treasure it's a real shame his health is declining p.s great reaction buddy👍😁🏴
Billy did a series called Route 66 across America on his motor trike in 2011. You would love that!
It motivated my missus to be willing to ride Route 66 beside me, and it was a smashing experience. One of the best photo's of her is one my mate took when she first saw the Harley Fat Boy I had booked for her to ride and the look on her face is brilliant.
@@tonybmw5785 sounds like you had an amazing experience.
@@sandrapaterson8678 It was :) Best holiday ever
Great shout , was also thinking of the tour of Scotland and when he went to Ireland as well
Was lucky enough to see him live once. I was in absolute pain from laughing so hard and my sides were still sore 2 days later.
Billy is the absolute best.... Such a great comic, but also a very great bloke... He has complete respect for everyone he works with too. He is the mate you want down the boozer with ya.
Billy is so easy to interview, it just flows. And I love that he laughs at the jokes other people crack with him.
Cheers EB!
I have been lucky to see him on tour 3 times here in Australia. He is a lovely genuine soul.
I first heard of Billy in the 70s when I bought a cassette with a xmas gift card I got. I wore the tape out and if I heard it today, I'd know it word for word. He's an absolute legend.
I was pregnant with my daughter in 1990 when I watched him and when he told the airplane fart story I laughed so hard I went into labour. My daughter was born the next day. I damn near named her BILLIE. 🤣🤣🤣
@@TallBlondeSassy BC should know this. He'd be so proud
Billy is a great comedian. He's perfectly okay with other people getting a laugh, but then comes back with something better
That trike of Billy's featured more than once in his documentaries. He did multiple World Tour series, including one of New Zealand, my home turf. Very insightful man.
I remember that!
Billy's world travelogues were/are brilliant. I grew up watching them, he's even more engaging in his narrative in them too.
His Trike is absolutely epic!
Sadly, he's lost to Alzheimers, an absolute shame considering how sharp and intelligent he was. 😔
@@havok2396 He has Parkinson's disease but yes it is a crying shame. I think he also had a brush with Prostate cancer too. He even did a doco on Death about the time the Parkinson's was starting to show. Cruel disease.
He use to come to Inverurie my hometown every summer and stop for ice cream on his trike, amazing guy!
Definitely do a reaction series of his travelogues. That would be great
You should react to one of Billy’s “world tour” shows, he did Australia, New Zealand, Scotland & England/Wales/Ireland….all excellent but best are Scotland & Australia.
His Parkinson interview with Tom cruise is also priceless
And the Parky interview with David Attenborough. Great fun.
Billy Connolly is absolute royalty here in Scotland. Started as a welder in the dockyards of Glasgow. By far one of the best comedians/storytellers ever. You should definitely check out his earlier stuff.
You really ought to watch ‘Mrs Brown’. Billy was fantastic in the role he played & most definitely deserved awards. Not only a great comedian but a great actor too. Best wishes 👍
Never tire of Billy. Just a wonderful human being
I was lucky enough to see him live. Incredible man! Love that you dig him so much
What I love about Billy Connolly as well so down-to-earth....
Thanks for reacting to Billy. He's the best. 👍
I think that the best film Billy ever did was "The man who sued God", truely a thought provoking film and a heartwarming tale.
It's gets no love but I really like that film too
His energy was limitless and there’s murals in Scotland of him on huge buildings. You so luck to just discover Billy. His wife Pam was an actor and her story is interesting as well.
The two parts of Billy on Parkinson with Tom Cruise is the best improvised hilarity I have ever seen. Absolute genius. You need to watch both parts. You will not regret it. The interviewer (Parkinson) asked one question and 15 minutes later Billy stopped talking 😂
No one tells a better story than Billy. He's been there, seen it, done it
Amazing guy, during a documentary of his tour in Australia he walked to Sydney’s Opera House where he was performing later that evening, exchanging words with people going to see him later. He had mentioned earlier he rarely works to a script, making things up as he performs, and that evening a lot of his live show was about the Aussies he had been chatting too.
You never feel Billy puts anyone down in a joke, he just loves the sheer joy of life and seeing the funny side of things. How could anyone not love the guy?
I met him about six years ago it was like talking to someone I'd know for years hilarious best comedian of his time watched all his shows and documentaries
The 2 talk shows clips of Billy I think are great is with Tom Cruise on Parkinson (Tom Cruise was promoting the Last Samurai) and his clips with Craig Ferguson on the Late Late Show talking about Glasgow
Hey Beard, I hope you're doing great there 😎 👍
I grew up to seeing Billy Connolly on TV as well as the Steeplejack, Fred Dibnah and it's uncanny that they both had this completely natural way of speaking that flowed with integrity, intelligence and humility, whilst still being able to find ways of adding humour in their own ways.
If you get chance, check out Billy Connolly video on his family vacation to Ibiza 🤣🤣🤣
Loving the Yorkshire rose and the Leeds badge ALAW .
Talking of shooting grass, you must hear Jasper Carrot's story about the moles in the garden. It's very very funny.
Jasper Carrot is Fantastic
I vote for the insurance claims
@@EmpyreanSasarai I vote for lollipop the cat.
Got to be Biffa the mental Labrador
When you watch a Billy Connolly show, you notice how he'll begin telling a story then he goes off on multiple tangents before amazingly coming back to the original story to finish it. I find it incredibly clever. He lived not far from me in Aberdeenshire in Scotland. Great man.
Thanks that was enjoyable sitting here in NZ on a rainy 🌧morning while in lockdown
Not a Billy Connelly fan, but something I will say in support of him, whenever he is telling a joke he will always tell you who originally told him, even if the person is a stranger in the street, I like that he doesn't try to take the credit for a joke or funny story.
He doesn't tell jokes - he is a wonderful story teller. He speaks of his own observations
Not Billy fan? Not possible
You must watch Mrs. Brown and see how good an actor he is... A great movie too.
An Audience With Billy Connelly is one of the funniest things you will ever see. It's set in a TV studio with other celebs in the front section as well as members of the public.
Billy Connelly is an all time genius. I saw him live in Blackpool and my body ached for a week from laughing, He kept on talking for 3 hours.
I love how good friends he was with Robin Williams, nevwer realised how much he mentions him, he has a lovely story about how they used to call each other most nights and would both avoid putting the phone down until they were the last to say 'I love you'
I’m so chuffed that I got to see Billy in his prime. Worst seats in the house. It didn’t fucking matter! Brilliant night.
Yes, me too, I saw him in 1994 by the end of the night I had abdominal cramps because I had been laughing so hard for so long. :)
Can' agree more. He was on stage for over 2 hours without a break, and the first story was completed at the end of the night.. amazing comedian
I agree 100%, could listen to him talk all day. The host here does a great job too, he has some very funny input, without stealing his guest's thunder
Yep, I love Billy like you love Billy ❤ he is just comic genius
Billy Connelly telling story of the terrorist attack on Glasgow airport is brilliant.
Genius Canadian comedian Mike Bullard had his own talk show here in Canada for many years! I always enjoyed his BRILLIANTLY sharp mind and quick wit! REALLY enjoying your channel and Billy's hilarious mind as always too, from here in Calgary, Alberta, Canada! Stay well and keep laughing Bud! Shawn
Way back in the late 80s or thereabouts there was a TV program called "An Audience With" foloowed by the name of the celebrity and they did Billy Connolly. The audience was in 2 tiers the lower one being all celebrities and the upper one being the general public. IThere are 2 versions of it. One runs about 56 minutes or so and is the original broadcast version and is pretty clean but hilariously funny. The other is the full version which is much harder to get but runs 90 minutes or more and is unedited so features swearing etc. It is much harder to get a good copy of but well worth watching. Both versions are so funny you may hurt yourself laughing.
We were tape trading Billy Connolly stuff at my Dutch university in the early 90s; been a massive fan ever since... never thought people really spoke like that in reality. And then I moved to Scotland...
Love Billy Connolly
Love EB - Both Hilarious 😂
From UK 🇬🇧
The beauty of Billy is how he gives time to everyone, and clearly loves other people stories and comedy, such a rare talent today.
I watched Mike Bullard when I first moved to Canada and he had me falling outta my chair!🤣🤣🤣
Thank you for this ,my older cousin named Billy passed away last week from cancer ,and we used to watch Billy Connorly videos/ shows when I would go up to Scotland to visit we would get in trouble from his mum (my greataunty) for laughing too loud and it would make us laugh even more.
Billy made 4 'world tours of' documentaries in Scotland Australia/New Zealand and England, Ireland & Wales. They were brilliant. He told the real stories of each place, not the polished story. He has also made documentaries on a variety of subjects including DEATH and route 66 (the real story)
best ever comedian can talk about any situation and make it hilarious
@billyconnolly is a naturally funny comic. Very rare. I rate him number 1. Cheers!
Love him . You should see his interviews on the Parkinson talk show . From the 70 to 00s he became very close friends with the host ( sir Michael Parkinson) he had amazing guests over the 80s .
Mrs Brown one of my favourite films Billy played it straight wonderfully . Try to see it one day.
The Legend that is Billy Connolly 😎👍🏻
I will always have time for the big man, he's very knowledgeable and can always tell a good (and funny) story. I agree with the other comments here about his tour documentaries as well.
Nice one mate. Yes I totally agree . You can listen to him telling stories all day. Peter Kay has that same effect.
Billy is from my home city. He's Iconic here in Glasgow. There are murals of him all over our city. I've never heard anyone that hasn't heard of him...."If it winae fur yer wellies, where wid ye be?"
I love the guy.
The skit about a terrorist attack at Glasgow airport springs to mind. National Treasure, Hilarious bloke.
Billy has always been a superb raconteur.
Hiding his Willy on a buffet plate always cracked me up as a kid x legend
My favourite Connolly monologue is "The afternoon after the evening after the night before" about how Irn Bru helps you recover from a hangover.
The Big Yin is a born entertainer. I would be surprised if he has ever had a boring conversation.
What a great interview.. when the host can make the Big Yin laugh, you know it's going to be a blinder!!
His house in Scotland is just up the road from mine, used to see him driving that trike and a bright yellow Landrover Defender all the time
Mike Bullard had a show called Open Mike, and then The Mike Bullard show. Started as a comedian before getting into TV. Funny man … and does a great interview.
The BBC the other might ran a Michael Parkinson thing, and part of it was Michael Parkinson with Billy Connolly... I've never laughed so hard as I did then! Brilliant!!
Billy is so funny and yes the interviewer mesh well with him 😁❤️✌🏼
Can you imagine shouting "ya ugly beast" on a TV show these days? People would have a fit. Context is everything.
That interview clip is Billy on the Mike Bullard Show in Toronto. It was our low budget Tonight Show. Mike was a really funny stand-up comic back in that day. Great with crowd work. When they gave him that opportunity for a late night talk show, we were all very excited for him. But it was doomed from the start. They didn't have enough writers for the show. The monologs were so watered down to not offend anyone. The majority of the guests on the show were either local celebrities that nobody really cared about, or big names like Billy that were passing thru town doing a press junket for their upcoming show. They weren't as frequent. And sometimes when they were big enough names, Mike just seemed to not gel with them. It ended up being a bland, awkward interview.
Mike's show only lasted maybe 3 years before it was canceled.
her eyes were in line vertically.............wow amazing hahaha
I remember seeing him on his three-wheeler in Glasgow, what a sight! The big yin!
When are you going to react to Billy's Wildebeest sketch? You will love it, it's up there with his best ever!
Scottish folks have a great sense of humour but Billy Conoly has a greater sense humour than any other Scottish person.
I have been brought up on this comedy. Everything he does is “warm”. He never attacks anyone, he just finds humour and humanity in EVERY situation.
He just leaves that to Scotland's very own,
John Smeaton - I'm sure Alan's heard that one. 🍑
Billy Connolly! Yay! Lady on the buss that took off running!
Don't spoil it. Just the old lady on the bus. Jesus.
Watch one of Billy's recorded live shows, it will have you howling with laughter.
If you can get it, there is a 10 minute improvised opera with Dudley Moore and Peter Ustinov, as you get our silly sense of humour you should get that. It was on a Michael Parkinson show, really stupid but brilliant at the same time. 2 comedy greats just enjoying themselves 🤗
I wish Connolly was 30 years younger because he would have the most killer podcast
6:10 You should definitely look for his standup, best examples are probably :
Billy Bites Yer Bum - 1981 (Although, since he's Scottish it should've been "Billy Bites Yer Bahookie")
Billy Connolly An Audience with Billy Connolly - 1985
Billy and Albert (Live from the Albert Hall) - 1987
Two Night Stand - 1997
Live in London - 2010
High Horse Tour Live - 2016 (His last tour afaik, where he'd already been diagnosed with Parkinson's but still sharp af and he talks about it)
Billy Connolly fantastic comedian😂😂
His route 66 series was one of the best things I ever watched, he really did his study and gave brilliant facts and stats in each state and town he stopped in
*Connolly isn't just a brilliant raconteur. According to people who've known him since his days as a welder in the Glasgow shipyards, he's also a great fella. For example even though his folk singing/comedy career had hardly taken off, when the shipyards closed in 1972, he was donating most of the profits he made at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and elsewhere, to a local charity involved in supporting the recently unemployed shipyard workers and their families. Although he's retiscent to ackowledge the fact these days, he was quite possibly, single-handedly responsible for fully funding the first ever **_"food bank"_** anywhere in Scotland. Maybe even in the whole UK? Now THAT is something to be proud of in my opinion! Cheers for now folks.*
Billy Connolly will always be remembered as being one of the worlds funniest comedians. From his stand up shows, to his legendary chat shows appearances, in the UK or America. "An audience with" is belly laughing from start to finish. Only blot ? Kenneth John Bigley. Very crass Billy lad. Such a shame as I'm sure deep down he regrets that one moment of ( not being himself ) playing his character to the camera.
the dude is a national treasure!
There's no bullshit with Billy! He should be the one interviewing politician's!
There is a really subtle unspoken joke near the start of that video where he talks about shooting grass and briefly acts as if he is injecting into his arm,
You should check out Billy`s version of the song "Oh Boy" from his live concert from the 70`s Big Banana Feet .
The funniest man on the planet.
He's always been my favourite 🤗If you ever get to watch the film " What we did on our holiday " with Billy connolly it's really good 😁
I love Billy, his shows are brilliant. If you get the chance to watch the documentaries he did across Australia, Scotland and the US on his three wheeler, they are are interesting.
And if you haven't checked it out yet, Billy's parody of the song D.I.V.O.R.C.E. is well worth a listen. the real one only got as far as number 12 in the UK charts, but Billy's went to number one! lol.
He toured around America on that 3 wheeler (trike) motorcycle
Cool stuff as ever with Billy. :o)
The host was class
Billys World tour series were done on his harly trike !
I remember Billy saying that he did not get on at all with Sharon Stone.
@Eclectic Beard Reactions , Alan you can find more of his story telling on a chat show called Parkinson , Billy appeared on this show 15 times over the years .
That dudes funny! :) Cheers Alan!
Judging by the way he farted, perhaps the horse should have been called "Blew" ;)
Billy is more of a funny story teller than a joke teller
If you're interested in a funny, unique and interesting character then I would recommend watching an interview with the actor Kenneth Williams. He is absolutely fascinating and very funny.
Billy is a wonderful, wonderful man.
He makes everyone he meets feel important and appreciated.
I had the privilege of bumping into him while he was doing his World Tour of Scotland.
another great vid eb, thx ✌
An old boss of mine used to work with him in the shipyard back in the day…..
