    Professional injector cleaning pulses cleaner for 20,000 - 30,000 cycles.
    Best to just add injector cleaner to your fuel tank on a regular basis. I use 5oz Lucas With ever fill up - purchase by the gallon and it's only $1 application.

    How exactly does the flow test work? I have a set of injectors that I'm unsure if they're OEM or DW's since as far as I can tell they look identical. How exactly do I determine the flow rate?

    • @SubaruONLY
      @SubaruONLY  5 років тому

      Hi. Great question!! Got to make some marks to see the volume in the clear tube, then hit the button to activate the injector and record the time you leave it on. Then, use the amount of time you activated the injector and the volume that passed through the injector to estimate the flow rate!

    You can also pressurize the entire rail then close it so it doesn't build anymore pressure when you have it pulse and then measure the drop in pressure. A greater drop in pressure means the injector is cleaner than one with a lesser drop in pressure. This can be done on the car with the fuel pump. You just have to pull the fuel pump fuse after you pressurize the system.

    I love watching what different setups guys come up with for injector cleaning. Check out the Motion Pro setup. I found first hand that an ultrasonic cleaner and simple green works great, along with an injector pulser set to continuous for about 15 minutes. What I really want to see is a tank of liquid (simple green or whatever) that continuously recirculates under pressure thru an injector and returns back to the tank, going thru a filter in the process.
    Carb cleaner does work wonders, but the small volume of liquid is insufficient. Honestly, once you watch an ultrasonic blow junk out of an injector, you'll be a hooked. But I really enjoyed watching your video, and seeing all the different ways guys come up with to clean their injectors. Can you outperform your first attempt, and come up with a recirculating tank setup?

    There is only one way to professionally service Injectors,ultrasonicically clean,backflushed and flow tested through an acceleration test from an idle rpm and pulse width and up through 5000 rpm.
    Good effort but hardly scientific or conclusive. Good luck with a half job, that may cost you a ,,, 5000 dollar motor for the sake of a professional service at 150 bucks.

    I just use a fuel pump in a closed loop system. 1 gallon fuel can with the return and suction going into it and a walbro 255 extra pump I had and regulate it to 60psi since that’s what I run for fuel pressure. Then I flow match all used injectors and make matching sets.

    A sonicator does a very good job, fill your injectors with cleaner through a syringe (needle not required), put injectors in a glass jar filled with carb cleaner, put jar in sonicator and have at it for thirty minutes. Flush injectors with fresh cleaner and repeat the process, after a few flushes and sonications it comes out clean as a whistle. Then I'd put them on a rig similar to yours to determine flow rates and adjust spray patterns.

    What/where is the indicated pos/neg on the fuel injector terminals.

      I looked at the harness end, but think you’ll be fine trying either way to see which way works, or maybe both ways work.

    Great video! Liking it a lot, im a skyline owner, i need to do this on my job list to hunt down a cold mirning misfire leaving me on 5 cylinder every morning to work. This is an ideal technique as its cost ne a fortune so far. skyline owners are generally a bit snooty over "unorthadox" techniques. Dont tell em i used to heavilly modify vauxhalls ffs.

    Does this work for direct injected turbo engines with a hpfp? Just asking because my hpfp at idle is between 500 and 600 psi.

    • @SubaruONLY
      @SubaruONLY  4 роки тому

      No, probably not. Those need much higher pressure I think.

      Back flush - the most important part of the operation. A 9V battery will keep it open.

    I used an old computer power supply and connected a moment switch to pulse the injectors. Worked great!
