Congratulations on reaching your 1000 subscriber goal, Really enjoy your podcast. I love the Musselburgh or a free pattern on Ravelry the Two by Two beanie by Anne Gagnon. I just knit it for my son who is particular about beanie shapes and fit and he loves it.
Another enjoyable podcast - looking forward to seeing the all the finishes that will be coming up. Musselburgh was my favourite hat but now my new favourite hat pattern is the Letterpress hat by Ysolda Teague, I made it in a beautiful yarn from a small local fibre mill and just finished it last week. Hope you enjoy being back to work and see you in a couple of weeks 🌸
My favorite hat pattern has become the Bakers hat which I found from watching you. I have knitted several as charity knits, and it's an easy well fitting hat. Enjoy your podcasts, keep up the great shows
I especially appreciated your discussion regarding needle sizes, and adjusting for fabric as well as required meters. I am knitting my first sweater with my homespun yarn and it's been challenging to decide on the right needle size and fabric to choose and still have enough yarn. I can't get anymore of this particular fiber. Thank you for going into detail. Also, congratulations on the 1000 mark! Well done.
Congratulations! You quickly became a favorite knitting podcast of mine. My favorite hat pattern is the Musselburg. It is so versatile and I made 7 of them for holiday gifts this year. Each one unique to the individual that would be receiving it. Keep doing what you do and you will hit 10,000 before you know it!❤
My favourite hat pattern is the Oslo Hat pattern by PetiteKnit. The discussion you both share about your knits is so very much appreciated - thank you. 😀
Yay on 1000 subscribers! Hate to say it, but my favorite hat pattern at the moment is also the Musselburgh. I enjoy seeing Stephen's progress on his feathers and the sweater too. I'm always amazed at people who can knit quickly enough to supply a podcast with content. I think Bebe and Stephen make a good balance! Bebe, I ordered the Seaton sweater kit after I saw yours. And I finished it right away. lol! You need to finish yours! Don't be afraid of steeking. Something a steek expert pointed out is that knitting wants to unravel downward, not sideways. One reason why steeking works. Also, you used sticky yarn, so that's an advantage as well. I used to just do the crochet reinforcement all the time and they've all held. The other method I love I mentioned before -- felting the steeks. I feel more secure with that method. But some people don't even both with reinforcement, so to each his or her own! Love all of Bebe's Lehtos (?), love that Rift in red. Love seeing everything! Happy 2025!
Thank you Margaret! I am very happy to report that the Seaton steeking is done! It was scary but your wording of encouragement (and others) really helped! -Bebe
Hi, love your podcast. Just to add to the dialogue about patterns, when I was first learning to knit I preferred the patterns with very detailed information like what cast on to use because I didn't have the knowledge yet to have a favourite. Now that I have the skill base I can choose to use my own preferred method but appreciate knowing what they had used if I want that same look. The best of both! Thanks for sharing with us!
A favourite hat pattern for me is Alpine Bloom - I have made a few for friends and have one myself. Love watching you two and congratulations on have over 1000 subscribers 🙂
Well done. It hasn't taken you long to get to 1000 subscribers. I really enjoy listening to both of you. My absolute cosy favorite hat is the 1898 hat. The brim is fantastic.
I recently completed Quicksand by Rastus Hsu for my niece and loved the result - so did she! As I was knitting it I was a little dubious as it has very interesting slip stitch cabling but the result was almost magical! Very cool. Congratulations on your 1000 subscribers and thanks for a fabulous channel.🎉
Hats … Favourite could be any from Woolly Wormhead, but in this case I’ll choose Losanga, first place, followed by GG Envelope Slouch and Circe could be a serious contender for first place but requires 2 contrast yarn colours. ❤ your podcast. Congrats on 1K subscribers.
My favorite hat pattern is the Salish Cap by Mary Pranica. I made 8 of these this past Christmas. They are quick and use up left over fingering yarn held double. Congrats on 1000 subscribers. I enjoy watching your videos.
Congratulations on 1000 subscribers. I always enjoy your podcast . It is possible I might be coming to N Z next year for a holiday and am looking forward to the yarn shops ( husband not so !!). My favourite hat patterns are the Musselburgh and classic rib hat which I have knitted many of 🤗
Congratulations! I love watching and hearing how different you are as knitters. My favourite hat to date is Northward by tincanknits. I also love their Antler Toque but I’m a sucker for cables!
Congratulations on 1000 subscribers! My favorite hat is the Musselburgh hat but a very close second is the Onslo hat. I love that your husband also knits. 😊
My favourite hat pattern is the Musselburgh atm, - just working on my third one. Have also loved the woolly wormhead patterns - interesting constructions and nice and roomy for my big head! Especially the Elemental collection.
Another great episode Bebe and Stephen. I was sorting my stash and seem to not have a lot of garment amounts of wool so hats and socks it will have to be. I will also be interested in what hats other knitters love, but I will also be casting on Musselburgh soon. The other hats I have mainly knitted are the Shetland hats each year.
Congratulations on reaching 1000 subscribers. My most used hat pattern is the Bessie's Hat from Tin Can Knits. I made them for family in various yarn weights.
You do such interesting knits. Thank you for the time that you put in. My favourite hat pattern is HIROMBE by Jared Flood. Knit for my husband in Brooklyn tweed Arbor. It’s reversible and unisex. Half twisted rib ..charted for a very engaging knit.
Congratulations on reaching 1K subscribers! I knew it wouldn't take long. My favourite hat pattern is the annual Shetland Wool Week hats, I knit one every year. I've recently came across My Bakers Hat, recently finished one for my husband. I like the Down The Line Beanie, available on Ravelry. I used 2 colours with the last one I made for my brother, a simple pattern but very effective finish
1000 viewers, awesome achievement 😊 My favourite beanie pattern is the Travelling Cable Hat by Purl Soho. It’s a free pattern. I’ve made two in my handspun yarn
Hi from Texas! Congrats on a 1000 subscribers. Great podcast as usual! My favorite hat pattern is The City Lights hat from the Knitting Place in NY. Her kits have sparkle!!!
My favorite hat pattern is the Furrow Hat by Jared Flood. It's quick but interesting and fits great with a garter stitch band. So glad your podcast is growing. I have enjoyed watching you from nearly the beginning and look forward to more knitting and travel adventures.
Thanks for sharing your podcast and congrats on your milestone. Give the Addi crasy trios (flexi flips) a go; they are my favourite method for socks. Fairly quick, my hands don’t get tired using them and they make it easy to turn your socks inside out if you are Finchley grafting the toes.
Congratulations on 1000 subscribers. I enjoy seeing what you are knitting & planning to knit. For an adult male hat I really like Maximus Hat by Truly Myrtle.
Hi Bebe and Stephen, congratulations on your 1000 subscribers. My favourite hat at the moment is the Musselburgh. I resisted it for a long time but now have finished 2 and have got 3 on the needles. Look forward to your next video.
Congratulations on reaching a milestone! I am one of many subscribers that watch EVERY episode 😊 My favorite hat pattern is the Hipster Hat by Petiteknit. I like to modify this 2x2 ribbed hat with a cuff in 1x1 ribbing for a subtle detail of interest. Thank you for your time creating this engaging content!
My Favourite Hat pattern is ??🤔I don't know. I have only knit a couple and am on the look out for something quick and easy. I want to make a Musselburgh as I like the look of and think it's a great stash buster. You guys have an awesome podcast and Congrats on the 1000 subscribers. 🍾🥳
Hats are not really a favourite item to knit but I have knit some as gifts, several have been Woolly Wormhead’s patterns and then last year I knit knit my partner a couple of musselborough’s which are so mindless especially when travelling so if I had to pick a favourite it would be that one. Currently I am knitting the pattern designed for the Wairarapa Wool Weekend, where Godrun Johnson will be the key note speaker should you be interested in going. Steeking is actually fun I have made several cardigans now that way. Don’t be scared there are quite a few tutorials available showing the different ways to secure before cutting. Personally I like to do a small backstitch down each side of the steek in a thinner yarn than the project. Happy knitting to you both for 2025.
Congrats on getting to 1000 mark..I get the confusion with altering garments due to guage..re Stephen's stitching up Redford..some patterns do ask you to do the seating that way too ay..my gosh Bebe you are so fast..maybe you should demo how you knit sometime on camera 😉..you both do so well and appreciate seeing more fellow kiwis with knitting podcasts! 🎉❤😊
Congratulations on 1000 subscribers! You did that quickly! My favourite hat pattern is the Strickmich (aka Circle & Square) hat, by Martina Behm. It’s a very fun and interesting knit.
My favorite hat pattern is the Musselburgh doing it 1/3 and 2/3 so I can fold it a few ways to vary the colors. LOVE your show. Thanks so much for making the effort to do it. You're both very inspiring!
Congrats on hitting 1000 subscribers! I really enjoy your channel and look forward to seeing all of your future projects! My favorite hat pattern is Windset by Alicia Plummer. I knit this for my dad for Christmas and would love to make one for myself.
Happy New Year, and congrats. My favourite hat pattern is the Bright Sparks Hat by Elizabeth Hihoniho, followed closely by Ambah's Mendia Hat for adults and children, for babies I go for Shadow Hat by Debbie Caldwell. Saying that, my next beanie for myself is most likely going to be a brioche or double-knitting technique (as a challenge rather than a rest), or a colourwork beanie in sock yarn as I have a few DK hats.
Iceland! One of my favorite countries to have visited! It has the feeling of New Zealand - small, remote, not too many people, but is so much more beautiful and rugged. -Bebe
Hallo from South Africa! Watching you from the start and you’re one of my favourites 🎉. Re raglan, you can honestly knit it with any gauge and just try it on for fit. It’s my go to construction. I can start with any amount of stitches and choose different increases for each one… zi also prefer magic loop. For sleeves you can turn the sleeve one side then back. With shorties the sleeve has to turn around and around which I find frustrating. Also I knit English style and the way I rest the needle in my hand makes that I just can’t knit with shorties
Hallo! Thank you for watching 🥰 I go back and forth with magic loop and shorties, but I think I’m leaning towards magic loop for the reasons you say here! -Bebe
I love to knit sock tubes on shorties and then add afterthought heels and toes later on. This is great because you can just keep knitting! If you want an interesting sock, have a look at the Totally Tessellated sock by Andrea Mowry. I tested this sock pattern, magic loop, and it’s lovely. Definitely go up a needle size, because they are mosaic colourwork. I also always bringing knitting to my choir practice, and my fellow singers always get a kick out of it. 😂
I bring my knitting everywhere 😊 I gave the tessellated socks a go but found them hard going on shorties and gave up. I might need to try again with magic loop. It’s such a lovely pattern and the fabric was so soft and fluffy! -Bebe
Congratulations on your 1000 subscribers. I really enjoy your podcast and my fav hat pattern is the Oslo by petite knits. Happy New Year and keep on podcasting ❤
My favourite hat pattern is the Musselburgh hat. You guys are already onto that one tho! 😂 thanks heaps for your very cool podcast. I subscribe to quite a few (who doesn’t!) but yours is by far and away my favourite! For many different reasons. Thank you. Ngā mihi nui ki a kōrua.
Wahoo on over 1K subscribers 🎉 I love using Addi crazy trios for sock knitting with 2.25mm as the preferred. I can do the complete sock cuff down (incl heel, flap and gusset) on the trios - also have used for sock colour work.
Yay 1000 already! My favourite hat so far is Tied Knots by Justyna Lorkowska. I made it for my son in some hand spun yarn to match a cabled sweater I had made him, with the leftovers. He wears it a lot and it looks fabulous on him. A fun knit if you like to do cables and a free pattern as well 😍 I use two short cabled needles (16") for socks, half the stitches on each and then when it's time for the heel flap and turning the heel you use just one cable. I find them faster than magic loop and easier than the shorties as my hands just don't like them. For the hand dyed blue yarn if you alternate skeins every row or two rows the colours blend really well and pooling doesn't happen. I always do this with hand dyed yarn and it works a treat
Congratulations guys on reaching 1000 subscribers…I’ve been watching from the beginning and really enjoy your podcast… My favourite hat pattern is Argyle Love Hat by Laura Heisler 2018.
Congratulations on your 1000 subscibers. So great to watch fellow Christchurch knitters and hear about our wool sources. My fav hat pattern is the Musselburgh for now! My first Steek I also felt nervous, however I’m about 7 down now and really enjoy the process. Go for it Bebe 🎉
Congratulations on reaching 1000 subscribers I really enjoy watching your podcast and especially your travel ones. I have made 1 Musselburgh and plan to make more but I think the most enjoyable hat I have made for a friend was the Agapanthus Beret by Janet Velvin a local Wellington knitting designer from her book Invasive hats.
Congratulations on reaching your subscriber milestone in a relatively short period of time, so neat watching fellow Kiwis on a podcast. Thank you for sharing your finished objects, favourites and goals. My favourite hat pattern is the Mavi hat, brimless colourwork that looks a little like the Air Nz symbol. Looking forward to future episodes and enjoying the inspiration.
Hello from Colorado, US. I enjoy hearing you both chat, yo7 have great rapport & of course, seeing your projects and hearing of your plans. As for my favorite hat pattern, I like the Oslo, & the Musselburgh. Take care, stay cool, I’m trying to stay warm.
Congratulations on 1000 subscribers! I love hearing about your projects and your local yarn too. My husband is not a knitter but he is always interested in the fiber. He is very knit worthy so when he asks about a certain fiber, I usually knit him something. One of his most worn hats is made with buffalo yarn. One of my favorite hat patterns is Copy Cat C C Beanie by Emily Ingrid. Looking forward to more episodes!
Congratulations on reaching 1000 subscribers in record time. I like seaming but I have to say the side panels in Redford were not an experience I enjoyed. I've tried shorties and magic loop for socks and it's hands down magic loop for me. I have only used DPN's for mitts and they aren't my cup of tea, I only use DPN's for Icord mainly now. My favourite hats are Antler Toque by Tin Can Knits, Skyping Beanie by Halldora J, Tied Knots by Justyna Lorkowska and my most made is Musselburgh.
Thank you! Oh my I am so glad that I’m not alone on Redford’s side panels. Someone suggested a three needle bind off instead. I find that intriguing, but I’m too far gone now.
You can’t go wrong with Petite Knit … though I’ve never been tempted by the Oslo, so much knitting! The decreases on the Hipster look really nice, will need to try this one! -Bebe
Stephen, on the jumper you are sewing up, have you considered picking up all the slipped stitches and then doing a three needle bind off on the right side (visible)? My favourite hat pattern this year has been the Moon River Cable Hat by Sari Nordlund. It’s so beautiful I’ve made three just for the pleasure of it!
Steeking is not scary! I steeked a cardigan recently - Nick videoed it it you want to see it. Congrats on the 1000!!! My fav hat pattern is the Unbearable hat by Les Garcons - I've knit 5 of them.
Could adding stripes in your spincycle knit run the risk of creating two different pooling patterns - one before the stripes and one after the stripes? I'll go with my favourite baby hat to knit is the 'Jubilee Hat' by Andrea Mowry. Although the Musselburg is great to knit in big stripes for kids in their team sport colours - fun to work out the size of the stripes and then quick to knit as it is just one more stripe as you go. So enjoy your podcasts!
I often swap half way. but Sometimes I have done stripes in the middle of the hat. Which looks great too Often has depended on how much yarn I have had
Scandinavian patterns assume you've learned to knit in grade school or earlier. They talk about American knitters needing hand holding (a pejorative term for adults, considering that Scandinavian knitters were hand held as children at their grandmother's knee).
The funny thing is that I learned to knit and crochet as a child, but never used a pattern. As an adult I find some of the patterns baffling but I can knit away happily without one. -Bebe
Miss Rumpius by Black Cat Co and the Traveller Hat by Andrea Mowry are both hats I'd like to try as haven't knitted too many hats before and would love to be eligible for your competition only a larger hat from the 100 knits book for my dad when he was getting towards the end of his life which worked for him as it wasn't firm anywhere..❤
I have watched from the start and love your candor back and forth. Congrats on 1K subs! The hat I’m knitting most now is the Hipster hat by Petite Knit. 🧶
Musselburgh seems to be a popular one! I’ll check out the Two by Two 👏
Another enjoyable podcast - looking forward to seeing the all the finishes that will be coming up.
Oooh that’s a nice one! It’s going on the list! -Bebe
My favorite hat pattern has become the Bakers hat which I found from watching you. I have knitted several as charity knits, and it's an easy well fitting hat. Enjoy your podcasts, keep up the great shows

Congrats on hitting 1000 subscribers! I really enjoy your channel and look forward to seeing all of your future projects! My favorite hat pattern is Windset by Alicia Plummer. I knit this for my dad for Christmas and would love to make one for myself.
Alicia is such a good designer! --Bebe
That shadow hat looks really interesting, it’s going on my list! -Bebe
Hello from Iceland. Congratulations on 1000 subscribers! My favourite hat so far is my too go hat 2-2 rib hat 💕
It's a fave! --Bebe
Congratulations on 1000 episodes. Well done 🎉
My fave hat pattern is the Oslo hat by Petite knit.
Warm regards
Deb
Oops I mean 1000 subscribers 🤣🤣
Thanks Deb. That’s a popular one ☺️ -Bebe
Thanks Karen!
Wahoo on over 1K subscribers 🎉
I love using Addi crazy trios for sock knitting with 2.25mm as the preferred. I can do the complete sock cuff down (incl heel, flap and gusset) on the trios - also have used for sock colour work.
Thank you!
Yay 1000 already! My favourite hat so far is Tied Knots by Justyna Lorkowska. I made it for my son in some hand spun yarn to match a cabled sweater I had made him, with the leftovers. He wears it a lot and it looks fabulous on him. A fun knit if you like to do cables and a free pattern as well 😍
I use two short cabled needles (16") for socks, half the stitches on each and then when it's time for the heel flap and turning the heel you use just one cable. I find them faster than magic loop and easier than the shorties as my hands just don't like them.
For the hand dyed blue yarn if you alternate skeins every row or two rows the colours blend really well and pooling doesn't happen. I always do this with hand dyed yarn and it works a treat
I think I need to try two cables, that sounds interesting! -Bebe
Congratulations guys on reaching 1000 subscribers…I’ve been watching from the beginning and really enjoy your podcast…
My favourite hat pattern is Argyle Love Hat by Laura Heisler 2018.
Oooh I like that - looks like slip stitches make up the pattern? -Bebe
Wooohoo, thanks Helen :):)
The steek has been done, thank goodness! --Bebe
Big congrats on hitting your first goal. I would bet you'll see 5000 this year. Keep on knitting--really enjoy you both.
That would be amazing, seems like a big goal! --Bebe
Oooh that’s a new one, thank you! -Bebe
OMGosh that is a beauty! It's on the list now! --Bebe
Thanks Karen! I love Colorado, what a stunning place! --Bebe
Congratulations on 1000 subscribers ❤🎉 my favorite hat pattern is the Tin can knits basic beanie. So many rib and gauge options, you can't go wrong :)
You're right about that! --Bebe
Congratulations to 1000 subscribers.
My favourite hat pattern is Musslburgh by Ysolda Teague.
Looks like it’s a firm favorite 🤩 -Bebe
PS my favourite hat pattern is the Musselburgh. Great for a yarn junkie like me; I get to use some beautiful hand dyed skeins 😊
Nice! --Bebe
Thanks Laurie! I am glad your husband is interested in your hobby! The Copy Cat is so soft and squishy looking! --Bebe
Congratulation 🥳 My favorite hat pattern is Hipster Hat from PetiteKnit
You can’t go wrong with Petite Knit … though I’ve never been tempted by the Oslo, so much knitting! The decreases on the Hipster look really nice, will need to try this one! -Bebe
But you are knitting a Musselburgh😊
Congrats on 1000. Here's to another 1000! My favourite hat pattern is Butterbeer Beanie. It's makes a lovely gift
Whoop whoop! The butterbeer is cute! --Bebe
That's a very nice hat, good choice!
Congratulations on the 1000 subscribers. My favorite hat pattern is the Maximum Hat by Truly Mrytle
Thanks Carmen!
My favourite hat pattern of late is My Bakers Hat ❤
Obviously I agree :D --Bebe
Steeking is not scary! I steeked a cardigan recently - Nick videoed it it you want to see it. Congrats on the 1000!!! My fav hat pattern is the Unbearable hat by Les Garcons - I've knit 5 of them.
Thank you!!🤩
Could adding stripes in your spincycle knit run the risk of creating two different pooling patterns - one before the stripes and one after the stripes?
I'll go with my favourite baby hat to knit is the 'Jubilee Hat' by Andrea Mowry. Although the Musselburg is great to knit in big stripes for kids in their team sport colours - fun to work out the size of the stripes and then quick to knit as it is just one more stripe as you go.
So enjoy your podcasts!
You might be right about the striping. Swatching is required! -Bebe
Musselburgh is a great hat pattern. I have made it for all the family. Usually I make it with 2 colours so it becomes reversible. 2 hats in one.
Do you make one side shorter than the other, or switch colours half way? -Bebe
I often swap half way. but Sometimes I have done stripes in the middle of the hat. Which looks great too Often has depended on how much yarn I have had
Another great hat pattern released recently is a free pattern by purl soho. The Simply Hemmed Hat.
My favorite hat pattern is hibernal hat by Summer Lee.
Oooh I didn’t realise there is a hat to match the socks, great find 👏👏 -Bebe
Scandinavian patterns assume you've learned to knit in grade school or earlier. They talk about American knitters needing hand holding (a pejorative term for adults, considering that Scandinavian knitters were hand held as children at their grandmother's knee).
The funny thing is that I learned to knit and crochet as a child, but never used a pattern. As an adult I find some of the patterns baffling but I can knit away happily without one. -Bebe
My favorite hat pattern is the Oslo hat by Petite knits
It’s a classic!
oops, forgot to mention a favorite hat. I haven't knit a lot of beanies but I do like Jason's cashmere Hat which is a free pattern on Ravelry.
Nice! 😊
My favorite hat pattern is Izmir hat unfortunately t is no longer on ravelry, great podcast
Thank you!
Ooh Miss Rumphius would be good to use up a single skein of Spin Cycle -Bebe
For sock knitting, i do magic loop, or sometimes dpns. I tried the shorties once and it was torture! Did not enjoy at all.
I think I might need to try DPNs again one day - I found them confusing! --Bebe
Congratulations. @happylittleyarn has the hat pattern Enchanted Evening cap
Oooh that looks like a great basic!
Showing my age. When I went to school girls learnt cooking and sewing, boys wood and metalwork.
Same as Stephen! It must have changed between him and me starting intermediate 🤷♀️ -Bebe
There is no such thing as being off topic! Please natter on as much as you like, including sewing projects. It’s all crafting.
Thank you for saying that ... I do like to rabbit on a bit haha! --Bebe
I have watched from the start and love your candor back and forth. Congrats on 1K subs! The hat I’m knitting most now is the Hipster hat by Petite Knit. 🧶
Thank you! The hipster looks really good! I’ve added it to my list ☺️ -Bebe
Happy New Year!! I'm glad I found your podcast. It is entertaining. My favorite hat pattern is Simple Texture Slouch Hat by Lion Brand Yarn. 🧶🤩🐇
Thank you, we are glad you like it! --Bebe
