    I am so honored and happy that you like the Margrethe Mittens - Winter Edition! I really like your ribbing details. What a beautiful version 😍 Great idea with the three color work hack!
    I hope your friend likes them and maybe you’ll just have to knit another beautiful pair for yourself!
    You pronounced “Knitlidt” perfectly 😉

    Just to add to what everyone is saying… thank you! Excited about your upcoming color work tutorial. Thanks to your other tutorials I have gained so much confidence and made things I probably still would just be wishing I could do, if not for you. You share your skill and knowledge in such a genuine and concise way. Our community is so very lucky to have you!

    You are so much more lively in your videos lately, maybe more confident and relaxed. Anyway, it's a pleasure to watch your videos and I cannot wait for your colourwork tutorial. I've been postponing learning how to knit colourwork and if there's anything that can motivate me to do so and make it look less scary, that's definitely a tutorial made by you. Thank you in advance for that!

    Wonderful makes as always ❤ I like to have knit themes sometimes, for instance I knit in autumn colours in the autumn, also had a shawl period where I studied different constructions. And of course Christmas knitting for Christmas. Maybe I will put beige knitwear on my list 🤔🧐 as I only have a couple! ❤

    Regarding the Northern Augustins No. 4, you might like to try ladderback jacquard to manage long floats. It basically creates a double knit backing to carry your yarn across. The backing doesn’t show through like with catching floats. It seems arduous at first, but you quickly become very adept at the process. I’m definitely going to use LBJ when I knit this.

    • @handmadebyflorence

    Terrific episode, so fun and fabulous knitting! More colorwork in 2025 is on my list, as well, so excited for your tutorial. Btw I highly recommend ladder back jacquard as a great technique to use instead of repeatedly trapping long floats. Well done, thanks 😊

    I've been the opposite - going from colourwork/cables to plain/neutrals. But I'm a lot older than you and been through many phases (including Intarisia in the 80s), so now I think I am just adding balance to the knits. Lots of colourwork still happening, just less outrageous!

    Yey, thanks for a new video! This was perfect for a little knitting session after my lecture🥰 Love your projects! I got yarn for the Northern Augustins No. 4 for my birthday (soft rose and dark red) and after hearing your comments about catching floats I thought about trying ladderback jaquard for the colourwork. Let's see it it will work out!
    I'm also very excited to see your colourwork jumper design, what a great addition to your UA-cam tutorials and how valuable for getting into colourwork! I would have loved that a few months ago when I first started with colourwork.

    Hello, love your videos! :) As an owner of a small business, I just wanted to add my two cents about shipping to UK - if you want to ship to UK, you have to get registered with a UK business bureau, get your VAT number, pay taxes and report your income yearly. You don't have to do that in majority of the other countries (except for Norway and few others). So it gets more complicated, especially since my accountant doesn't even speak English very well, therefore reporting to an English office is almost impossible.
    It's very sad, Brexit sucks. I know bigger companies can get representatives within UK for their company, but it's almost impossible for a non-English speaker or small business. And of course I'm not sure how big of a company Tukkuwool is, maybe they could afford that and it's sad they don't.

    I love the sweater you are wearing today. You are such a beautiful knitter. You are really making me want to knit some colourwork items again.
    Since you like the Norwegian mittens, I wonder if you have heard of Sanquhar Gloves? Sanquhar is a small town in Dumfriesshire famous for these gloves. My husband was from there. I have knitted three pairs of these gloves (about 10 years ago) which I gifted. I never made a pair for myself though, so maybe now is the time. When you order wool from Europe, do you have to pay additional customs tax/duty? I haven’t ordered anything from Europe since Brexit, because I thought it would end up being too expensive. ❤

      yes, I am familiar with them! I bought a pattern for mittens inspired by them (since I don’t think I have the patience for fingers) which i’d love to make some time

    Not sure about stockist(s) in the UK but Vuonue do ship to the UK if you want more of their yarns! (I also spotted a Marimekko Unikko apron at the back :") I have a tote in that pattern + colour combination too; too bad I didn't manage to get that 60th anniversary fabric for some sewing projects.)

      As for the pronunciation for Laine, it means 'wave' in Finnish and I would pronounce it how it's written. You can try putting it into Google translate and press the sound button.

    • @handmadebyflorence
      @handmadebyflorence  День тому

      that’s great news!! I will try to order some for sure
      and thank you for the pronunciation help! I appreciate it’s a finnish magazine but since it means wool in french a lot of people were saying it’s pronounced like that! perhaps I will never know

    • @thesunandtheforest
      @thesunandtheforest День тому

      @@handmadebyflorence Ah yeah, I'm more familiar with Finnish and Laine is a Finnish company so I've always assumed that's how it's pronounced, but what you said makes sense too. I guess that's precisely why they chose that double meaning word for their name. I've also been eyeing some Vuonue yarns for a while, mostly sock yarns but others too now that I get more interested in wool that feel like wool (before I was more into soft yarns e.g cashmere). I've come across Dorset Horn wool recently and really like it. Looking forward to your colour work tutorial!

    For me personally, knitting together a folded hem (instead of sewing it down) only works for folding the neckline. On other parts such as sleeves or bottom hems, it flares out so awkwardly... I get much better results by binding off and sewing it down.
