I've been binge watching these "everything I made" videos while working on my Movement Sweater (Lily Kate Makes), and I've got to say, your video is definitely top tier, top 3. Thank you for NOT making a video to showcase 50 sweaters by one designer and then list all the reasons why you didn't like each one. That seems to be a theme in a lot of other videos right now and I cannot fathom why. I love that you've knit a variety of different items, different construction, colorwork, textures, etc, and a lot of them from designers I've never heard of (so of course I'm going to be all over Ravelry, looking at everything they have to offer!). I can't wait to see your design come to fruition - it definitely looks like something that'll end up on my list of items to make. Happy new year!
Thank you so much for the kind words, and I appreciate you getting into my work! I love these videos too, they really drive my inspiration! Thanks again for your thoughtful comment! 😄 Happy Knitting!
What a great video, thank you for making it! For your Mini Mock Neck that the armholes are too low, I think you could pick up stitches along the ribbed edge and knit a 'gusset' that fills in the space (probably slightly wedge shaped from bottom to top) to make the armhole depth smaller and contour the upper part of the armhole ribbing around the fullest part of your bust smoothly. You might even want to use a textured stitch for that gusset to give it strength or use a tighter gauge. It won't take much knitting to get the garment fit to be closer to what you wanted originally, because its already so lovely, just needs a bit of modification
Your sweaters are all beautiful, even the ones you don’t wear. The inserts were good and your face certainly showed the sweaters that you liked! I’m just finishing the Cloud sweater and every time I try it on I want to hurry up and finish it. Wish I could buy Big Birdie but the Drops Air I’m using is very soft and comfy.
Lily, what a terrific knitting year you had! The B-roll inserts are wonderful and help with fit and function. Your Twigs, with all its mods, is a triumph. It fits beautifully and is gorgeous. I love your "mash-up" sweater too....well, they're all great. Thanks for all the effort to put this together....lots of inspiration and ideas!
I do not know if someone already suggested, but you could go for a blouse under your vest, big armholes and balloonsleeves. Irene Lin style. I find it pretty. Best of luck with your designs
I had not hear that one yet, and I love it! I actually have a "flouncy" white shirt with lots of ruffles and think this is a really elegant solution. Thanks so much!
I loved the format of the video with the try on videos while you talked about them. You have some great knits! For the Lauder, you could try reblocking and giving yourself more room in the upper sleeves. I’ve been thinking of knitting that pattern, so I will make sure to watch for sizing issues!
Yes! Thank you! I think the shoulder/arm Paris definitely where we should pay attention, thanks for the great suggestions and happy new year and happy knitting!
Thanks for sharing. I think your Pink Lauder is spectacular and the colour suits you so well. Perhaps for work it might be to cutesy to wear, but overall it is beautiful and you should wear it everywhere. Great makes all around!
Lily, I enjoyed this SO much. You’ve inspired me with so many of these projects. The Colette sweater especially. Those colors really speak to me…right up my alley!! I did my first review video and it was SO fun. And surprising to see all the things I made!
Oh, I love that the colors speak to you! It's so fun to see that kind of personal connection to a project and I do adore wearing it! Can’t wait to watch your year in knits too! 🤗
Hi and Happy New Year. First time viewer and new subscriber! Great 2024 recap. You are so talented. I’m working on several patterns by Samantha Guerin right now. Will be casting on her newest pattern as soon as the yarns arrive from Sonder Yarn Co. Willmalso be casting on your hat pattern as soon as I wind the yarns that just arrived from Ritual Dyes.
Thanks so much for subscribing - so glad you're here! Samantha Guerin's designs are amazing, and thanks for letting me know about your Beginners Welcome Cast on! Cant wait to see them all! 🥰
Congratulations on your 2024 makes. Your knitting is beautiful. This is my first time watching your channel. I am looking forward to seeing your makes this year. 🧶😊
I’m inspired by your knits and your yarn choices. Just finished a Beginner’s Welcome hat for my husband and he’s loving the fit. I like the video inserts!
discovering your channel from this video and wow these are all sooo beautiful! 🌟 as for the pink cable cashmere sweater - I think when we think of something as a “special” item we tend to save it for more special occasions rather than using it more often! not sure if that’s what is stopping you from wearing it but I hope you wear it more in this new year! we are worthy of wearing our most beautiful knits! 🌸💗
Thanks so much for the sweet sentiment! I think you're right, it's probably the special occasion thing, and I need to wear it more! Love your work and thanks so much for commenting!
Great round up of your 2024 knits. I’m tempted by the MW or Twigs. But the Celeste is great too! All in my favorites. I’m about halfway through my Cloud sweater. I’m using a custom BFL farm yarn I had spun up at Junction Fiber Mill held with an alpaca suri and I’m loving the combo. But I’m worried it is going to be denser than intended. We’ll see. Looking forward to your sweater pattern release!
Thanks so much - that custom yarn sounds amazing! I think the Cloud at a dense gauge could actually be lovely and work well as an outer layer! Thanks again for the kind comments and happy new year!
I looooved this! They're all so beautiful. Every time I see your Twigs, I start eyeing my stash again. The inserts worked great--it's so good to see the sweaters "in action". I"m so looking forward to seeing what finds its way onto your needles this year! xoxo
Your cable sweater beautiful, and looks great on you! Also love your Twigs, the colors and the fit so pretty. But I must say I just added the Milly to my que after seeing that one on you. Love it! As a knitter, I know the work that went into all those beauties. Looking forward to knitting your new sweater in the works. The fit of the shoulders look fabulous.
I didn’t experience that and I love your podcast! My one thing is that it’s the only knitting podcast I’ve found that I can’t watch in background mode. So it completely closes UA-cam if I swipe up and try to look up a pattern you mention whereas most just go into a smaller screen and keep playing. I don’t know if you have it categorized as music or something?
Oh now that’s very odd too, because I watch all of my stuff in background mode too! Check your settings because it looks fine when I do it, I’m watching while I type this right now :)
What a great roundup! I really appreciate hearing your perspective on wearability. I’ve been thinking about that a lot heading into the new year - there are so many sweaters I’ve knit because I wanted to knit them and loved every minute of it but they sit in my sweater wardrobe mostly unworn for one reason or another. Alas, the things I want to knit are often not the things I’m likely to wear 😂.
I totally get that! 😅 So many process knits I love don't get the wear, that said, it's the fun factor that we love too! Thanks for watching and your kind comments!
happy new year from Iceland, and love seeing the year in review! one note re: the Seaton -- rather than adding elastic, you might try adding a simple crochet chain around the base of the neckline to give it a bit more structure & bring it in more -- I did that with my Field Cardigan a few months ago, which had a neckline that felt it was stretching out too much with wear, and it resolved things perfectly -- plus it's very easy to take back out if you decide it's not helping. hoping to be back in the Bay Area sometime this spring to visit my mom (Menlo Park), and if so, visiting Verb is definitely on my list! planning to start an Aika sweater using their Soft Current yarn, so scrumptious...
The Lauder sweater looks terrific on you! I love it in every way. The Mini Mock Neck reminds me of a pinafore. I suspect that is intentional, and I guess it might look best of someone with a flat chest--you wouldn't get that gaping at the side underarm.
With the marie wallin neckline could.you make it more of a loose mock turtle neck with similar length your sleeve ribbing? Love your style and all your choices btw!
What a lovely round up! I think the lilac and light green colours were fab on you, and I agree that the pink sweater didn't feel quite "it" - but how much of that was your body language, I don't know! What a prolific year...! I also have two small children and I've only made 2 grown up garments this year, quite a few small people items too, but I'm happy with that :) Currently working on my first all over colourwokr (Blomsterjakke by Sandnes Garn) which is really, really fun, and ripping a seam on a me-made blouse while I watch you. Last important question... where are your fab jeans from?! Thank you!
OMG. I am now fully obsessed with this knit and I MUST make it! Seriously, what a WOW piece that also looks so wearable, how did I miss this! Jeans are Frame brand and I wear them constantly! Thanks for your insights and kind comments!
Marie Wallin jumper with loose neck , unpick the garter just one row and and knit 2 together every 5 stitches then knit stocking stitch in smaller needles for a curl neck like the jumper you are wearing .
We appreciate the work you put into it! I’m sure editing is not easy. I love these roundups as a reflection on what you wear most vs not, and what you’d do differently. I’m so glad to hear that Carmen and Jackie are doing a Marie Wallin KAL. I’m in, and am considering the Seaton or a slipover. Not sure if I have enough cold weather for a Nutiden pullover but curious to try!
What a beautiful collection of projects Lily. You have great taste . Two suggestions could you reblock the pink cashmere and stretch it a bit to make it more wearable ? Could you take off the neckband of the Marie wall in and just pick up less stitches so it isn’t so gaping? You’ve done such a beautiful job on all of the jumpers. Thank you 🙏
I love your Sheepcamp and Celeste and Twigs color choices, they look fab on you! And your lacework is gorgeous! Thank you s much for your inspiration 😍 what kind of ball winder did u get? Is it electric??
a lot of work in the past year well done. works out more than one a month so you certainly been busy. IMO posting inserts of you wearing each project as you hold it is a good idea most of my knitting/crochet is for charity, mainly hats and squares so I don't do a review any more keep taking care xxxxxx
Hi Lily: your Lauder looks super but maybe you could pull the ribbing in at the bottom just a bit. It seems to fit well, looks great, but is loose at the hips. It deserves to fit you well there I think so I suggest re doing the bottom ribbing. Just a thought. Beautiful knitting.
Really enjoyed the video. Your podcast is one of my favorites! Love the try on inserts!! I had a thought re the Lauder sweater. I feel like the way it sits on the shoulders is not super flattering. I wonder if you could sew in something to the back neck that would hold it up a bit and that might make it sit differently on the shoulders. It sort of looks like it's slipping off your shoulders as it is. Might work? It's a gorgeous knit! One last thing, there were way more ads this episode. Is that a new thing?
I appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts on the Lauder, I'll definitely take a closer look at what you've suggested! I'm not sure about the ads, but thanks for letting me know! And Many Thanks for the kind words and great comment!
I love your content on the Tube. You have created a desire in me to knit the Milly cardie or the Celeste sweater. Your colours chosen for the Celeste sweater are exactly the colours for our NHL hockey team… would it not be hilarious to make a colour work sweater in your chosen colours and wear to a game when everyone else wears a jersey with their favourite players name on the back?😂😂😂😂. Your enthusiasm for the knits you have made and your honest feedback is valued.❤️🇨🇦
The whole video I was looking at your seaton sweater in the pile thinking ‘I need to know what that is’. I should have known it was the seaton, I’ve been wanting to knit it since it came out. Seems like I really know what I like ahaha. Also for what it’s worth I believe there’s an errata available on the website to do with the neckline/collar, it’s possible that might fix your issue? Thanks for making a great video! ❤
It’s truly a great knit, I’m very tempted to make another in a lighter weight yarn and with a different neckline. I bet you’ll love yours it’s totally worth making!
I too am disappointed in my mini mock neck tank . My armholes aren't so giant - it just seems like there is too much fabric in that area...whereas it's supposed to have negative ease. I'm planning to frog mine. Your knits are gorgeous. Quality over quantity.
Hi, love all your makes - they are gorgeous! Regarding your beautiful pink cabled sweater- I had a few thoughts - someone commented that the light pink is, probably not the best color for your skin tone which I agree with, but maybe, if you added a black tank top underneath it where you could see the straps, one that has thicker straps, it might bring some color to your face area and make the illusion that the neck isn’t so wide - I don’t know if that makes sense, but that would be a simple way to see if it’s more wearable for you at the moment. If you were really brave, you could try over dyeing it a different color, but I do agree it feels a tad too short, and the open neck is a style that isn’t flattering on me either, so it’s unfortunate you don’t love it, but we all have these in our wardrobes. With all that being said, I think you could probably come up with a few things to make it a garment you can wear and like just try adding it with different things in your closet. You never know what will work until you try it. Best of luck to you and happy new year!
Just a thought about your pink Lauder... I think the cool cool pink of the sweater is clashing a bit with your warmer lipstick and might be why you're not into it? Also i picture it with a grey bottom and not denim. You are totally a color expert so no shade there... but I know sometimes we are biased towards ourselves and need a second set of eyes :)
I just wanted to know if you knit colorwork Continental style or English throwing? I knit throwing and was told that it would take me ‘forever’ if I don’t use continental style…so I’m hesitant but love all your sweaters!!!
I'm a continental knitter, but Infirst learned English and for colorwork I throw with one hand (the less dominant color) and pick with the other. No matter what your style and speed, I think colorwork knitting is for everyone! 🤗
Love your makes! Thanks for sharing. My thought on your Lauder is that it is gorgeous, but the color doesn't bring you to life. You wouldn't see the stitches as well in a deeper color, but I think you'd wear something closer to a shade you'd choose for lipstick. Maybe. 🤷🏻♀️ You don't strike me as a "pink person," particularly pastel pink.
Ahhhh! This is super insightful, and I agree, the pink is just a bit too light, which makes sense that it works on my daughter who is fairer than I am! Thanks for the comment and happy new year!
@Lily_curatorial_knits also I remember you felt the rainbow Stria (?) you were working on was too youthful for you in palette. I wonder if that's a similar vibe with the pastel pink.
The problem with the mini mock neck is that it is meant to have 4.5-6 inches of negative ease and that has positive ease on you so the armhole is intended for someone with far bigger arms than you and the person meant for that size would have the armhole pulled up by more shoulder depth. Something to consider when playing with ease!
Yes! Exactly, I wanted it as more of a vest as I’d seen a few other folks do, that said, it’s not a huge size (I think a size 3!) so I do think the sizing and ease is the crux of the issue! Thanks for commenting, and happy new year!
Maybe it’s short, or maybe the ribbing is flared. Honestly, I think the real issue is the shoulder fit, it makes me feel a bit like a linebacker, there’s so little space to move in the piece at that point, which makes me feel like it’s a size thing? In any case, I am thinking I may rebook and try to wear it more casually to see if I feel more comfortable. As overdone as these videos sometimes are, it’s so helpful doing the review and getting feedback! Thank you so much for watching and commenting!
Whew, that was a bit of a project getting this edited and up! What do you folks think of these try on inserts and does the format work for you? Also, I'd love to know how you review your year in knitting or making! Do share below!
I would love to test knit. I own my own yarn store named Hooked and hookedknitting Inc. Have been knitting for 50 years. Hope to heat from you. Thankyou
Hi, Your dropped Guernsey sweater is gorgeous but having said that...... you mentioned an issue that I see all the time when knitters share their dropped shoulder patterns they model- they have knitted them with so much dedication and love poured into their creations but...... I stay away from dropped sweater styles because I have pretty narrow shoulders and people with this body style seem to get lost inside their dropped sweater styles and it does not flatter them. I think if I could wear them there has to be some short row adjustment that could make that puckery look disappear. But whatever the case in the grand scheme of things it is not a flaw that should stop you from wearing it- it is kind of insignificant- a personal choice. If it was fun to knit it was worth it!! Carrie from Florence,OR.....formerly from Northern San Francisco Bay Area!!😘❤🐕🐑☕🧵🪡🧶
Hi! Interesting take. You're right that some short rows could smooth that out, for sure, but in terms of fit, I have particularly wide shoulders for my frame 🤣 and for me I do think it's a style that I love to wear. In fact, the Lauder shoulders have those, but that fit feels really off to me, in terms of comfort if nothing else! Hope that Oregon is great this time of year, I'm hoping to get up there very soon! Such great knitting resources!
I should've clarified.... Your Guernsey looks wonderful on you!!!!! You are one of the fortunate sweater lovers that shines in dropped shoulder styling! If I was going to knit that style shoulder pads could make it look like I had maybe another inch!!!! But I find myself gravitating towards circular yoke detail patterns. I love seeing what other knitters are doing and when you mentioned the arm connection detail of your sweater I had a 'moment' because I notice that on a lot of the dropped sweaters and that's even with the most seasoned knitters. Maybe someone adventurous will dive in to see what it would take to prevent that from happening. Happy knitting, I really enjoy your vlog!! -Carrie
For my lauder sweater, the construction just feels like the shoulders are pulling down, and the arms are very tight. I think a set-in sleeve construction would have worked better.
Sorry, had to stop watching because of the number of adverts 😢 lovely podcast, gorgeous sweater choices and I understand podcasters need some adverts to make it worthwhile but long non-skippable ads every 4-5 minutes just disrupted the flow too much for me, so sorry 😢
Thank you so much for letting me know! You aren't the first person to mention that this video has more than others--I'm going to double check the settings because that's unusual. Hope to have you back for more videos!
I've been binge watching these "everything I made" videos while working on my Movement Sweater (Lily Kate Makes), and I've got to say, your video is definitely top tier, top 3. Lovely handknits! For the celadon vest, I would add batwing sleeves in a simple lace stitch. Maybe white, dove grey, or a pale peach mohair?
That is a brilliant idea! Never occurred to me and would be so much fun! Thanks for watching and for your insights!
I thought I might want to follow you, but I just watched my 3rd set of ad segments in five minutes. Can’t take this for an hour. Best of luck to you.❤

I love your Sheepcamp and Celeste and Twigs color choices, they look fab on you! And your lacework is gorgeous! Thank you s much for your inspiration 😍 what kind of ball winder did u get? Is it electric??
Thank you so much! 😊 And yes, it is electric, a Christmas gift from my husband who shockingly doesn’t mind all the yarn!
I love your Lauder sweater. Maybe you could pair it with your pale pink Beginners hat!
Oh so sweet love that idea! Thanks for watching!
a lot of work in the past year well done. works out more than one a month so you certainly been busy. IMO posting inserts of you wearing each project as you hold it is a good idea most of my knitting/crochet is for charity, mainly hats and squares so I don't do a review any more keep taking care xxxxxx
Thanks so much! How wonderful that your making is going to supporting others. Happy new year!

I love the idea of snugging it up a bit - great suggestion! Thanks for watching! 🙌
OMG, that’s hilarious! I love it, and you should totally do it!! Thanks so much for your kind words! 🤗
I'm glad I'm not the only one who has had that experience! Thanks so much for watching and commenting-quality over quantity indeed!
Thanks so much for the suggestions!
You know what, I've been thinking the same thing. I'll definitely try pairing it differently!
@ would love to see you fall in love with it! It’s such a gorgeous sweater and looks amazing on you
I just wanted to know if you knit colorwork Continental style or English throwing?
Another good point!
I think you should be wearing your pink sweater. Do you think it's a bit short??
Thankyou
Thank you so much, Laurie! I'll be in touch in a few weeks when it's back from the tech editor, and ready to go!
-Carrie
Ahhh yes, and you’re so right! I’d love to see a deep dive on that construction. Thanks so much for your insights! Big Cali Hugs! Lily
Isager=EEsayer
Ah ha! Thank you! I said the hard g didn’t I?! 🥰
For my lauder sweater, the construction just feels like the shoulders are pulling down, and the arms are very tight. I think a set-in sleeve construction would have worked better.
Yes! It’s definitely the shoulder fit for my body, just not there I think! Thanks for the insights and thanks for watching!
A proper place to wind your yarn?!?! 🤣🤣🤣🤣If you’re winding yarn, it’s a proper place. ❤
Absolutely! 🧶 ❤️ 🙏
🧶
It´s Lou genser and Guernsey genser - not gensler.
Thanks!
Your first flop vdst - can't you just pick stitches upat the arm hole and knit a piece of ribbing and The just sow it to the edges.
Ohhh Definitely an option! Thanks so much for the suggestion and thanks for watching!
Vest would look perfect with shirt under neath like a linen one long not tucked into pants .🩲
Definitely need to wear it with a long shirt, and I really like the thought of keeping it loose and long! Thanks for watching!
