Millennial here. Growing up in the 90s, the golden girls raised me. They were ahead of its time for starting in the 80s. The show dealt with homophobia, sexism, racism, ageism, antisemitism, deportation, homelessness, in vitro fertilization, and was one of the first shows to synthesize with AIDS victims (mainstream shows weren’t talking about AIDS at that point). It had episodes dealing with interracial couples, generational couples, and even dating little people. It really helped me shape my view on aging and introduced me to a diverse grow of people. I’m 30 and it’s one of my husband and Is favorites and has been for a long time. We’ve watched the whole series through 3 or 4 times.
I’m 40 (1983). I’ve watched this show regularly since I was a child. My quick wit can be partly accredited to this show in particular. This and DESIGNING WOMEN (came on after GG) are still two of the funniest shows ever created. They are both superior to the majority of shows on today.
I'm 33, and I have been watching this show my entire life! Even now, if I see it's on I will watch ever episode that plays. Reminds me of my childhood and the jokes are, for the most part, timeless.
I'm 16 and it's my all time favorite show!
Aidan doesn't like anything.
Hold on a minute…I was a teenager when this came out, and I never missed a single episode. Many young people back in the 80’s never missed The Golden Girls.
Many young people today don’t, either. It’s seen a resurgence and is pretty popular among teens and young adults. Many of my students love it.
The son doesn’t know what he’s missing. Even the kids in the US are watching it.
If you've guys have never seen it I recommend Mama's Family. Loved that show growing up and love it even more now.
Yes, but they should skip the first couple seasons and start watching when Iola and Bubba join the cast.
My mom grew up watching the Golden Girls and she made sure that my siblings and I grew up with them and a few other oldies as well. Funny moments are good but what I think will get the younger man into the show would be watching The Best of Sarcastic Dorothy. Dorothy's sarcasm is one of my favorite things to watch as she doesn't have a filter when it comes to the women she is staying with. The Golden Girls always manage to make me laugh! 😂
I was watching reruns as a teenager. Definitely can still be funny to the younger crowd. There are occasional jokes related to pop culture that might go over people’s heads.
I was 17 when this show premiered. Everyone I knew in high school was watching it and thought these ladies were pergect in their roles. It was hilarious then & still is today.
Are you kidding me when darrin said "people your age arent watching it."? Lots of millennials are watching this show on reruns...im genx/millennial..im 39 i love it..genz watch it because their parents are watching it😅
Aidan is Gen Z, not millennial
my sons are 12 and 9 they like watching the golden girls....they like the little old lady ..@@franksinatra8525
my sons are 12 and 9.and they love it, they especially love the old lady Sofia, she is hilarious @@franksinatra8525
Yeah they really seem to baby him a bit, and his attitude is a bit sassy highschooler like Daria or Darlene on Roseanne, but not as funny or endearing.
@@franksinatra8525 plenty of GenZ are watching it
Gen Z loves The Golden Girls. I’m a millennial and loved the reruns as a kid, and still love it today.
My absolute favorite show. You have to watch episodes not just cut aways to get context. My entire bathroom is golden girls themed. ♥ I am the 5th golden girl.
Man, your son is a tough cookie. If golden girls can’t break him… nothing can😢
These girls are hilarious! They are making a big comeback with the younger generations!
I’ve watched this show loads since I was 24, it’s Hilarious
You are watching clips. The shows are still great. The buildup for the jokes, the chemistry. Yes, young people do watch and enjoy these shows.
The Golden Girls is a bit like Mr. Rogers Neighborhood in that if you grew up in the US watching it, it’s just really special to you.
Love love love this show!!!!
You only just watching this now, I’m a Brit and always watched this as a kid. Was on tv every day
When Golden Girls first aired here in the States, I was 3 years old when it ended May 9,1992. I was 10 years old. Even though I was a child during those years I loved it it was the great times I shared with my Grandmother (RIP) still till this day I rewatch it. Its sad to know all the cat members passed.😢
Here, in the US, before the internet, the young and old were watching this. I was a teen when It started in 1985. We thought it was funny.
Aiden sitting there like "I don't get this old lady humor" 😂
I used to watch this in the 90s with my grandma way before I understood the jokes. I still love it it this day, but now I actually get all the references. Such a great show!
I watched this, as did so many of my peers, when I was a teenager in the 1980’s and early 90’s. Enjoyment of this show spanned generations.
When I moved to the USA from Mexico legally, I learned all my English and dry humor from them and I was 10
Love this show back then and now
My granddaughter and her friends watch this. It's a timeless American classic. Well-placed humor never goes out of style. Thanks for sharing.
Love the Golden Girls. Its alot better when you watch the whole show and not just little clips.
Gen Z here and I love this show sm.
I grew up watching Golden Girls pretty much my whole life I've always loved this show. The ladies remind me of my grandma (before she passed) and my mother and aunties this is how they interacted and it was always a good time
Born in 1976 and grew up with this show. Still watch it at least two times a year. I have all seven seasons on DVD.
This show is a classic that people will find funny for many years to come.
I watched it as a kid and still watch it
I believe dorothys mother was actually the youngest in real life .
No, Estelle Getty was the second youngest, Rue (Blanche) was the youngest. Betty White was the oldest
The Golden Girls is popular across many demographics..young, old, black, white, gay, straight, etc. I think this guy Adrian just didn't want to enjoy it due to his own prejudice. He seems like the type that doesn't have have much range to his personality which is odd considering he's doing reactions where most people come into it with an open mind. Oh well.
Yeah the dude is just boring. People who are rigid and close minded and don’t like to give new things a chance usually are.
These are great clips but it's even funnier in context. The episodes build to the big punchlines at the end.
I was a kid when it originally aired and it was my favorite sitcom then and still is! GG is ageless and still holds up! You should watch the clips of the most savage comebacks of Sofia and Dorothy because this show has the best one liners in tv! You should definitely give it another chance. 😊
what’s interesting is the actors who played the golden girls were in their 50’s ,you would think that they were in their 70’s
And the actress who played Sophia was the youngest of the 4
@@toriboy25Rue was the youngest by over a decade. Estelle was younger than Betty and Bea. Everyone was in her 60s when the show premiered except for Rue.
You’ve got to watch the show from the beginning to understand each character. If you watch a show you’ve never seen before in bits and pieces, you’ll never get it! Golden Girls won 11 Emmy Awards for a reason, Queen Elizabeth even requested the cast to perform for her in 1988, as she was a big fan of the show!
This was my show as a kid. Always loved old people.
I grew up watching this show & it's still one of my absolute favorites and a comfort show! I'm 40 now.
Your son is missing out on a fabulous show! Golden Girls is a hilarious show.
Im 37 and this is one of my favorite shows ever. I watch it like everyday 😂
"The Golden Girls" was from 1985-1992. My mother especially loved the show.
...My favorite sitcom was "Sanford and Son" from the early 1970s.
The Golden Girls is a classic! People of all ages in America loves.
People in their 20’s and 30’s still watch it very much.
I’m 22, and I’ve been watching The Golden Girls since I was a little girl. Classic and absolutely hilarious. Great characters!
I'm 48, a Brit and used to watch the Golden Girls back in the 80's. Still love it today. The kids in my classes, age 13 to 17 love it. It seems to be gaining popularity with younger generations. But it is a show you actually have to sit and watch, not just little clips as you don't get the proper context and that's what the jokes are built on. Hence the tern sit-com, situational comedy, I guess.
Maybe a well placed air horn for the dude on the left. He looked really sleepy throughout bless him 😊
I was a teenager when the Golden Girls premiered. I watched it faithfully during its initial run. I have recently purchased the entire series digitally and I plan to start watching it again soon.
People his age are watching it.... It's hilarious and way ahead of its time!!!
I rememember watching "The Golden Girls" in the 80s, Friday nights, Channel 4 at 10pm.
It was SOOOO ahead of the times and the humor still holds up. It’s a really rare show.
Just started season 1 on ep 12. After seeing all the clips here i had to subscribe to Disney+
This show was real popular in austrakia and new zealand
Brilliant & talented women. RIP QUEENS
I have been watching this show since I was 9. I still watch it every night. I have been a fan for a very very long time. My friends think I'm crazy to love it so much.
Golden Girls is one of the few American live action comedies that is actually really funny!!
