      Staying fit and active is very important as you get older, getting lazy and letting little aches and pains get the better of you only makes them worse.
      FOund out my stupidity of youth destroyed my hips and at 20 mine were worse than my 90 year old grandfather's (Over 80% gone) and the doctor told me the best thing I can do to stop them from hurting and locking up is to MOVE! Being active will keep the joints mobile and stop the pain from happening, yes I will still get little aches here and there or pops but the more active the more the joint will stay in good condition... That goes for the whole body. (That was over 20 years ago now) Hopefully you've kept at it and don't push yourself too hard too fast. You might not be able to fully reverse the damage done but a good diet and getting yourself in shape will go a long ways. Might even get to see your great grandkids and see them nearly reach adulthood!

    • @KeterMalkuth
      @KeterMalkuth 10 місяців тому +1

      Definitely not saying you *have* to if you really don't want to, but there's massive benefits to weight bearing exercise for anybody and everybody. Especially with how we live in first world countries. Whether you lift in the gym or at home, maintaining a strong body increases longevity into old age, makes you more sturdy against injuries in your day to day life, gives you greater assurance that you'll be able to get yourself or others out of any situation that requires physical effort, whether that's a fire or animal attack or whatever else, and improves your physical and mental health. A strong body is a healthy body, one that's less prone to disease of all sorts, especially most every day aches and pains. Your brain and body, recognizing that, will release more of the hormones that tell your conscious self that everything is okay and fine, so you'll feel happier, less anxious, and more secure in all other aspects of your life.
      Long story short, there's always a point to gaining muscle, even if the muscular development itself isn't appealing to you. I'd highly encourage you to give it a shot yourself and see if it works for your life and benefits you the way it benefits me. I think you'll find it's well worth it if you stick with it a couple months.

    • @nirfz
      @nirfz 9 місяців тому

      It's not always about gaining muscle or being jacked.
      My mother was diagnosed with osteorposis years ago, and the doctor told her to go to the gym and do resistnace training. (she's a lightweight and so her bodyeight never was a "training aid" for her bones.) My father went with her, cause she wouldn't go alone.
      It helps with his backpain from over 40 years of manual labour.
      They are in their 60's and started 20 years ago.
      After a motorcycle accident in my 20's i develloped backpain, and years later, due to lot's of sitting at work i also develloped neckpain. Both are almost nonexisted as long as i manyge to be in the gym once or twice a week, and the second benefit is i don't loose much muscle while getting older.
      From 30 onwards the body looses muscle mass fast if one does nothing to compensate. And i at least started at 32.
      The gym we go to has lot's of people in their 60's 70's and even 80's.
      They don't go there for looks, or for gains, they go there to stay mobile and healthy for longer.
      I think, the WHO recommends 45 minutes of resistance/weight taining and 2 hours of "movement" sort of sport per week. (the movment part cold be running, walking, hiking, cycling, swimming...)

    I work out only at home (or running outside). That way I get the benefits of exercise without all the nonsense involved with gyms. It's not that expensive to buy basic exercise equipment. It may not be cutting edge stuff, but it's sufficient for 'ordinary' people who just want to stay fit.

    Well, yes going to gym is kind of pointless :). It has became very popular nowadays, but it seems like people forgot that you can train at home or outside. Running on treadmill in sweaty gym seems kind of strange thing to me when you can run outside :D. Same is with cycling and many resistance exercises which you can do at home using simple gear or just body weight. Additionally sometimes just time spend to get to the gym and from the gym will be longer then time you need to make training set at home :D

    • @mohit92260
      @mohit92260 Рік тому +13

      People have different schedules, it's easy to run on a treadmill in a closed, air conditioned gym, then out on a bright sunny day and have your skin burnt or tanned...also, gym is a more organised place where you can have access to various machines and equipment by paying subscription charges whereas if u setup a home gym with same machines and equipment, it can create a hole in one's pocket and also not a very good investment too...body weight and resistance band exercise have their limits...tried both...

    • @wojtek1582
      @wojtek1582 Рік тому

      @@mohit92260 But most people do not need these machines :) For many exercises done to be healthy and fit they are not needed at all :D So you can actually save money by training at home. Climate argument can be ok, but that's rarely issue in my country to have such heat that it would be better to run in gym :D

    • @davesmith826
      @davesmith826 Рік тому +8

      If your only fitness goals are running or callisthenics, then yes, there's no need to take out a gym membership. However, even if those are your goals, not all people can run in their cities. They are polluted (inhaling particulates is a great way to shorten your life) and cold and rainy (I'd love to see you run year-round in mine).
      You suggest exercising at home. How are you supposed to do that if you live in a flat? There is nothing intrinsically wrong with exercising in a gym. For most people who go regularly, it's a space that is as important as their home and their work. Bringing it home makes as much sense as working from home - no thank you.
