This scene frickin' rocks, and is what really sets the show apart from other alien horror, imo. The viewer is trying their hardest to conceptualize how this planet's evolution and this telepathic "animal" works, and then buddy just straight-up unbirths Kamen.
this scene is chilling, I love the music buildup during the assimilation. kamen is such a complex and interesting character, despite his wrongdoings it's hard not to sympathize with him :(
The first step to doing better is to recognize where and how you did wrong, and that can be the hardest step. I love how the story thus far showed this for Kamen
@@johannfunn6962 I couldn't agree more, been seeing a lot of hate for kamen and while I can understand to an extent, I think he's tragically misunderstood. he's honestly my favorite character
I really want to beat the living shit out of him. It's funny how a fictional character could bring this out of me. Every step he takes in the show makes me hate him more. Everything he touches gets turned to worse. I'm not bashing you or your opinion I just feel l need to express myself because I can't punch Kamen since he does not exist lol
Instant Goosebumps all over my body when i first encounter this scene.. it was phenomenal, that level of understanding between something alien (Hollow) and something familiar (Kamen) blends so great, especially the hollow is not letting out a single word.. increasing the elegance, and the Soundtrack just lift this moment more..
Why cant I find this track on Spotify? Its not listed as one of the songs of the show or on Nicolas Snyders albums (as far as I have searched) is it on spotify at all? Edit I FOUND IT!!!!!!!!! For anyone wondering how to find it This music is only the ending portion of the entire composition by Nicolas Snyder The entire composition itself is called : The Demeter Suite Its 4:46 minutes long Spotify And this one section of the song from this video is at the very end its the Collapsing or the Finale of the piece
I think Hollow definitely has the ability to have an emotional attachment to the subjects it's controlling. Like, how at the end of the series after they're separated, Hollow looks back at Kamen even while the rest of the cast is shooing her away which told me that Hollow cares for Kamen somewhat. Hollow's success in becoming big boi might also be directly tied to Kamen's survival, hinted because at their being separated Hollow goes back to being small again, so merging Kamen into herself might have something to do with self preservation. Just some theories!
maybe the ancestors of Hollow that kept their victims alive in this incubator state were more likely to survive and pass their genes on because the victims eventually became useful again.
It's definitly some sort of mental assimilation. Looking at some of the odds Kamen faced when gathering food for Hollow, like that large alien Rhino or that other Big hollow. I would say having a mind like that would be useful to increasing your odds of survival. One scary thought is what would happen if Hollow did this with either Azi or Ursula. "Spoiler Alert" As it nearly did with Azi on the final showdown. Likly seeing her as a perfect canidate for enthrallment thanks to her survival skills. If it had succeeded, it be a bigger threat than it was now once it had assimilated her.
I think there is an emotional connection between them that formed after all the time they spent together, whether intentional (in the process of assimilation) or not (coming just from the time they spent together) as hollow is shown to be capable of at least understanding emotions (the way it tries to communicate as kamen's wife and urging him not to escape the cave during the cataclysm/strong winds) and I think the best example comes when hollow laid down besides kamen wife's body and became very agitated/angry when her corpse was crushed under the weight of something that fell from an explosion.
I also saw them this way, but the more I thought about it, the more I realized that that's completely wrong. As intelligent as Hollow is, they're just an animal at the end of the day. Thier species builds relationship where both creatures are benefited (the black goo seems to be nutritious, thus benefiting the creatures that bring Hollow's species food), Kamen started killing other creatures to feed Hollow, only benefiting them. Kamen corrupted them with his ego, greed and resentment. We see them revert to their simpler, more innocent state once they're defeated and "cleaned" by Levi.
It's hard to tell whether Hollow is just an animal operating on pure instinct, or if he's truly an intelligence species that understands his own motives.
The fact that Kamen is voiced by Ted Travelstead, he is no doubt the best VA in Scavengers Reign! He just delivers his emotions strong!
This show is a freaking masterpiece.

I can't get over the part where that mix of synth and vocals kicks in at 00:51, it really amplifies everything in that moment
I love this part there's just somethign so otherworldly about it. I believe there's another soundtrack with a part that sounds like this too
0:41 of hollows theme sounds similar to this part
@@NovaaTheGreat yeah, it sounds familiar, but i cannot remember where i heard it. bothers me a lot)
I think I've remembered. Oxygen OST - Open. Good movie, too.
@@somedude3795 oh wow they actually sound incredibly similar. Ill give the movie a watch later.

I relate to Kamen so much cause even at times, I am greedy and a bit selfish 😢

Amazing show. Amazing soundtrack.
Bro just got unbirthed
This intro and the intro to “Raised By Wolves” are the two best sci-fi show intros IMO.
This is so terrifyingly beautiful
i watched the whole season while tripping on acid, felt like i understood the universes secrets. 10/10

KAMEN IS WITHOUT A DOUBT MY FAVORITE CHARACTER!

It is now lol!
We've all known a Kamen in our lives.
It's sad to say
how does hollow benefit from doing this? even giving him nutrients to keep him alive

Hollow is one cruel cruel monster
As much of a monster they have become this felt like mercy.
Hallow did nothing wrong
It only gave him what he wanted. He wanted help, so it gave it to him in the only way it knew it could.
