    For the example at 5:15 ;
    When black plays on R5, if white does not care and plays on O5, white wins an guarantee eye.
    Then, black can plays on K7, other half eye, for break it. So, white plays on S4 or Q5. And white lives.
    Or,
    Black can plays on S4 and Black can takes a stone. So, white plays on K7. And white lives.
    I think;
    O5 is sente for white. Because, if black plays on O6 then plays on O5, the white group is parts. May be, the group on under is alive but the group on bottom is dead. If white does not answer at O5, Black must happy because two black groups contact now.
    If white answers at O5, Black can plays on R5 now. White chooses at die or crate to KO.
    I do not know, may be I wrong.
    Thank you for this wonderful videos.
    Edit: Sorry, I had not seen N7 point.

    I heard of GO for the first time in a movie, which, at that time, I thought was something made up for the movie. Then I saw GO played by characters in a TV show. So i started poking around and now cant get enough. Made 18 Kyu in about 2 weeks thanks to these videos. You and Ryan are great. Ur terribly cute the way u teach and ryan very nonchalant but still like "yeah im awesome. You dont have to tell me. I already know." 🤣🤣🤣 Thanks for taking the time to make all these videos and putting them out there for a rookie like me to learn from.

    Comment for 1st discussed strategy. 1:20
    Would not black stone placed at 1(ONE)-O (OMEGA) intersection closed whole corner? The whole group would get surrounded by black stones.

    • @derekxiaoEvanescentBliss
      @derekxiaoEvanescentBliss 4 роки тому

      watch the video about life and death situations. just because black has the whole bottom left corner surrounded, doesn't mean that white can't keep it's pieces alive by creating two eyes. If white can create two eyes, then all its pieces there will stay alive.

  • @bmibudstermaverick5511

    I don’t get the first example if black goes solo on that bot spot wouldn’t white just trap the black spot and capture it ??

  • @madarain
    @madarain Рік тому

    While I'm trying to really grasp some point you just made, you are already onto the next possible solution. That's good cause it's forcing me to be quicker.
    I could slow the video down, but I think re-watching is a better idea. It gives me another chance to strengthen my vocabulary too, which is vital since there are no English words for things like Tesuji or in Sente...also good.
    Bottom line. You're going too fast, but it's me who needs to speed up, so don't slow down on my account.

    Hi, I am a complete beginner in Go. I have just one question for you. :)
    If you choose to play white, and I can play black, can I make the first move? Because I'll pick you up anytime. ;)

  • @bardock2525
    @bardock2525 3 роки тому +1

    firstly great channel.. i don wanna say that when i first saw these videos i really didnt understand much.. then i went through approx a 100 games (losing most of them obviously :D) but now am able to grasp what you are talking about much better.. maybe an advice to others watching this and getting confused..
    anyway, not sure if u still read comments.. but i had a query for the 19-10 Kyu problem at 8 min mark..
    my question is that even after Black throws in at R5, can White not Live using the following pattern? Am I missing some superior black move here?
    W - K7 (to secure top eye, ignoring black throw in)
    B - S3
    W - S4
    B - P4
    W - Q5 (securing the one bottom eye)
    And after this I can't really see black stopping this white bottom eye from connecting to the top eye or anything.

    I am 6 kyu at kgs and i couldnt see the first one haha, Question: at 7:12 can we also ateri at N-7 and cut the connection M-6 and kill one of the groups?

  • @wolfy9979
    @wolfy9979 4 роки тому

    What does the 'kyu' mean? Like 9-1 kyu players?, for example.

    • @ShredST
      @ShredST 2 роки тому

      After black S5 and white R5, black Q4 puts the top two white stones in atari, so white has to connect at Q6 to save those stones, then black can connect at Q3 to take away the second eye

  • @partingmist8550

    I somehow misread every problem , wow. I think that is why im losing my games. it is easy to do life and death problems because you know there is an answer you just have to keep reading till you find it. Not sure how to bridge the gap between tsumego and actual game.
    I was 3kyu on KGS then I took about 5 years break. I started playing again recently and right now I am 11-12kyu on OGS. I play as CalmRiver if you want to become my friend on OGS.
    I tried a bit more tsumego and I was not reading it well lol. I think maybe I am having trouble imagining the stones today :)

    22:21 is it, really, a ko? Looks like that s5 and s6 can kill unconditionally..
    Answer is ko, because after n12 white either makes an eye with n10, or cuts and kills something.

    You use a lot of GO terms in this video. You never covered in your hot to play go videos what those terms are. I am a beginner go player and did not understand half of this video because I do not know what the terms mean. Please make a video covering just the terms of GO and what they mean and what they look like.
