Thanks! We decided to get together as a family to crochet. So my two daughters and 4 granddaughters will meet (probably weekly)to watch and work together on the blocks. 🎉

I am so excited for this series. I love how you create your own shit. I've been watching you for YEARS. I learned how to make quilts from you. I am 63 so I think we are close in age. Best tip I ever got from you was the Elmer's glue on my nails. Lol.

I just had to reach out and tell you how much I've enjoyed your UA-cam channel over the past 7 years. I'm absolutely hooked on all of your videos, from your heartfelt chats and vulnerable moments to your hair-cutting tutorials (I'm Joking haha), engaging car vlogs, and sewing videos.
This video has quickly become one of my favourites. The way you teach is a true gift - you're incredibly resourceful, informative, and such a joy to watch. You're creating a legacy that will undoubtedly help and inspire so many people for years to come.
I could listen to you for hours on end. Your honesty is so refreshing and relatable. Watching your tutorials reminds me of being at my grandmother's house, learning skills from her - there's a warmth and familiarity in your approach that's just so comforting.
Love, love, love everything you're doing, Darlene. Please, keep being you. The world needs more genuine, kind-hearted people like yourself. Sending you respect and blessings all the way from the North East of the UK. 💕

Thanks so much Darlene. I just watched and did a swatch of your July Block. I find your style of teaching very comfortable, so will very much enjoy crocheting along with your Afghan. Already I've learned so much (especially the no-chain turn. .fab!). In the past I've mainly just done double treble Granny Rugs, with each row a different colour, but am ready to learn more stitches. I'm also altering a beautiful crocheted vest, (not made by me) which was too high at the back of my neck, so I am "bodging" my way through evening out the new edges to reattach to the band .... I laughed out loud as I was doing your Trinity swatch... as before my very eyes was appearing the pattern from my vest... this will make my alteration both SO much easier, but also look much smarter. Cheers! 💜💙💚💫

    Hi Darlene,
I saw something in a magazine that I thought you might like. It's a clear plastic storage box that holds 6 skeins of yarn. Drill 6 holes in the top for yarn to pull through!
I would be happy to share photo with you 😉

I was wondering about the torture you will have trying to make another matching block using a different stitch! But I know you will figure that out and I can't wait! Glad you are back. Hello Darlene, my mom sent me your link from pinterest, you may recognise her as Kitchbaby Lesley from the UK. I do more crochet than knit and she does knit but may try crochet again one day. I love your colours in the first section, i've never tried big twist yarns, i only have bernat premiere, which looks about the same size skein. I will watch each months blocks but i'm not doing a blanket as i have enough blanket wips as it is. Thanks for sharing!

I’m going to love this series!!! I havent followed a CAL in so long! I just joined a 3 part mosaic CAL and I was up to date until today. Still working on the last few rows of week 2. I’m Sooooooo glad this is a large block and a simple, relaxing stitch! This is exactly what I needed! I’ll pick my colors tomorrow and start my first block. Think I’ll use various colors of brown and cream and maybe a maroon stashing??? Will have to see what next months block is like.
I think it’s so interesting to see how others make their slip knot and how they hold their working yarn. No right/wrong way, just whatever works best for you. I , like you , do not Ch 1 at the end of the round.
Can’t wait to get started! ❤️

Oh, I almost forgot to say…..it’s so nice to see you crocheting again!!! I watch all your videos regardless of their content. I enjoy whatever you decide to do or talk about. I’d even try making paper beads or knitting square if you ever do that, although that scares the daylights out of me. Knitting is tough, for me, but I love learning new things and challenging myself. Thanks for all you do. And say hi to Rocket! (I wish we had that “doggie nip” in Illinois!!! Lol my dog Cheyenne would love it!)

That's is so funny because it bugs me too because I don't know how they can crochet that way. I tried it several times just to see if I'd ever get the hang of it, but nope! I can crochet incredibly fast the way I hold it. My finger is my guide to crocheting simple stiches while watching TV. I can crochet without looking at the yard just like I type without looking at the keys. I could never crochet while watching TV if my finger is up in the air and out of control, lol.

I just bought a new full set of hooks in preparation of this. But, all my hooks are stated in sizes such as 5.0mm. Maybe from China? Anyway, how do I convert your 10 1/2 (K) to mine. Also, after chaining the 45, does this measure 12 Inches.?

    • @darlene.michaud
      @darlene.michaud  7 місяців тому

Try Google to find out about the hook size. As for chaining 45 equaling 12 inches, that’s pretty much going to vary for everyone because of different tension. Crochet a few rows, and then measure and see what you get. Your block should come out somewhere around 12 inches.

    • @poulaivens5651
