I have really enjoyed dungeons where there is advantages to having off roles like an off tank or an off healer to deal with mechs or specific adds. Thats a lot of fun

Both are a thing. The name Roguelike originates from the game Rogue, published in 1980 and is sort of the basis for all the sub-genres to evolve from. Like Rogue-lites, that can possess some, but not all, elements of a roguelike.
