Thx for this video! I was wondering if I should upgrade my iRig HD 2 to the iRig HD X. The main thing that annoys me with the HD 2 is the fumbling with the interface. I have a scroll wheel to control the input gain on the left and another one for headset volume on the right. They are very small and I like the HD X design of this large scroll wheel. But it seems that I can no longer control the input gain on the HD X (it says only in software). Looks like its coming down to the loopback function being the main thing that is different from the HD 2. And the direct monitoring? I don't need the additional tuner.
Very cool product i have the IRig HD 2 And just bought the Axe I/O One and got it last night have not used it yet..But have a Question about the Axe one will i be able to get the tone x sounds out of my amp? thank you Scott from long island...
@LonelyRocker I guess what I'm asking is really more like a plug a play style for practice not interested in capturing my amplifier just want to plug into my amplifier and play with the TONEX software I already own before I open the box up..Thank you for the response..Scott
@@LonelyRocker what else do I need along with it plug wise? I play in a trio in coffee house so I need to know how it plugs into board. Do I need WiFi? Is a laptop better for live play? How can I be efficient with acoustic and my tele? Hopefully I can win one! ; )
Is it possible to play a spotify track or youtube video and then play over that in the loop back feature where you hear both sound sources on a stream?
With the Garagband that's easy. Just put your BG audio on a track. With loopback setup TONEX or Amplitube will remain in the background no matter what app you are playing. So you could jam to UA-cam for example. But to record you would need to import your backing track into your recording app or else you are asking your device to route sound from 3 apps at once. Likely a tall task...hope that helps!
I bought an irig hdx, what a piece of garbage! The output it provides is virtually worthless, you can’t hear your own guitar through it! The problem is terrible with an IPhone and 100 times worse with an IPad. The model prior to the hdx, the hd2 is a far better bet and actually works well and is about $50 less. Stay away from the hdx, you’ve been warned.
Sorry you had a bad experience with it. That was not my experience at all. It does need to be paired with software to adjust the levels so on its own it may disappoint.
Great tutorial, interesting product
🙂 Thanks Man. Love your work!
My pleasure! And thanks so much!
Another cool video!
Thanks Dave!
Nice features!
And it’s quite handy!

Loopback is great if you need. Glad this video helped!
I love iK multimedia!
Me too! I love their products.

It is for sure. Are you talking about capturing your amp with Axe IO One and TONEX?

Any time!
Is it possible to record the guitar while playing a backing track with irig?
With HDX I believe so but can’t verify that with all applications.
Hi. What version of TONEX does this come with? Thanks
Tonex SE.
Hi Rocker - I want to also use this for acoustic guitar as well as my tele - I play 60's-80's folk & rock- is that over kill?
Not at all. It's an inexpensive device that will get your guitars connected to mobile. Why not?

That's a good question...I didn't test that....in theory if you can mix those sources in your software it could work but I didn't try that myself....
Can you have a backing track playing while recording through Amplitube or GarageBand?

@@LonelyRocker ahh this makes sense! Thanks for clearing that up! 🫡
If i'm playing to a backing track will that be heard through the headphone input on the Irig HD X?
Yes it should!
@@LonelyRockerhow, tnx bro.
Are you able to just record the sound out your amp and not use out side apps
The only way is if you have a load box and can send a DI into the iRig . There is no mic pre on this interface so you can’t mic a speaker with this.
Can I play with Garageband on an iPad ?
Yep!
Wat if i used backing tracks
What do you mean?
