Bought one two years ago and I'm totally delighted with it. Heaps of grunt, handles like it's on rails (Michelin Road 5s), stops, turns and it's a sleeper. You can happily play boy racer or sedate tourer and it's equally at ease. My first BMW and I'm not disappointed. I'm 70 and a sports bike guy so it's been a great choice.

My thoughts exactly - it does everything you want from a bike - a true all rounder!

Thanks for the endorsement. I'm your age and traveled about 60K miles on my old, beloved R100/7. Was wondering about a modern last bike and you gave a good answer. Of course, I'll always keep the venerable, old R100/7, "Sweet Lorraine". Have fun!

Great to see someone who can actually ride, doing a video for a change. Making progress...nice.

    Lovely bike - my R 1200 RS is blue/white 👍👍

The best bike that BMW build. It makes for a better road bike than the GS. The only thinks most owners end up doing is changing the screen and adding bar riders. Other than that, it does everything on road well, in comfort, with decent handling and real shove when the need arises. Good suspension, good brakes, great chassis and engine. Slap on a set of Metzler Roadtech 01 se tyres or Dunlop RS4s and you're in riding heaven.

Absolutely!! - It's almost as if BMW are trying to keep it a secret. I spend every minute out there on the road in riding heaven!

Hi Mark - the satnav needs to be updated via your pc or laptop. You need to connect it to your pc via a usb cable and then log into the Garmin website - you'll be able to update the firmware , download and update maps and then replace on your bike cradle. I hope this helps...

Hi Max - yes would love to test ride one just to see what the differences are... I know the engine is meant to be smoother and slightly more powerful. I'm not a great fan of the new colours though - the black looks best....

It's a 2016 plate. A really fantastic all rounder , does everything with ease and great fun to ride. I'm hoping to do a proper review when I eventually get round to it...

I'm looking at purchasing one of these bikes. Do you know what the aftermarket screen is?

      Hi
Yes the screen is a Puig touring screen which is really excellent quality. I swapped the original as soon as I bought the bike - really easy to fit and deflects the wind as it should.
