Hyundai should issue a recall about this. Every Hyundai with electric power steering has this problem. It's a bad design

I also replaced that coupling stuff, and it became better. But, I do not know why the steering wheel is still not smooth.

You can try unplugging the battery for abt 10 minutes instead of clearing codes with a scanner. Does almost the exact same thing, you just don’t get to know what codes are present.

This unfortunately isn’t that. The system was uncalibrated when the column was taken apart. I’m a budget conscious person but after 21 years of wrenching, I’ve learned there are times you have to buy the “right tool” sadly :(

Hi, I have a Hyundai ELANTRA 2007 and the EPS light is coming on, but also the car is not steering and draining the battery shifting into gears is pretty difficult at this time and would like some help. I know what to do next.

You need to check the alternator I think that's what is going bad

I also have the EPS light on (on my 2010 Elantra), which turned on after I replaced the (8-leg starfish) rubber steering coupler mentioned in the video. My EPS light has been on for several months without any issues to the steering. I'll try what the video suggests to reset it though. But in regards to your battery draining, check your battery and alternator to ensure they're both good. (Your local Autozone or auto parts store can do that for free.) If it still drains, you probably have a shortage somewhere in your electrical system, or something is being left "on" like the overhead dome light where the vanity mirror is, etc.. In regards to difficulty with your gears shifting, I had a similar problem. I would shift the car into gear and it wouldn't shift into gear right away, or it felt like I wasn't getting any gas when it did shift into gear and I stepped on the accelerator. I thought the fuel pump was going out so I replaced it. It seemed to fix it, but only for a short while. The problem returned. And I had plenty of transmission fluid. But then I found out the problem, by accident, the next time I opened the hood. It turns out I forgot to connect the MAF (mass air flow) sensor plug located on top of the air filter. I disconnected it when I replaced the throttle body. Once I reconnected it, "the gear shift/ out of gas" issue went away. Check to ensure all your engine compartment connections are connected. This includes the electronic power steering electrical connection: And make sure there's no oil or gunk in there, preventing a clean connection. If there is, clean it. Good luck and let us know what caused your issues after its all been fixed. You'll help out someone else in the future.

Do you mind posting the link to this reader? I see it on Amazon but I’m having a hard time understanding the Hyundai software. Thanks

I don’t understand much of code readers (whatever they called) but apparently, each one comes with software from a specific brand

I have the same OBD2 and is a real SHIT. sorry to be honest. I have Elantra 2008 and Kia soul 2012 and is ready for both cars. Many, many times doesn't read anything. Many times, tell me no connection. many times say not communication with the cars. many times, say no support function. A real, real GARBAGE. It cost me $ 189.00, 5 or more years ago.
