I’m on the fence about shadow as it does have potential, vr can be more than a short “experience” stress level zero has proved that with boneworks and bonelab, but on the other hand wb can easily fuck it up.

"Nobody owns VR" Look I get hyperbole but come on guys Quests were outselling the new Xbox it was the biggest seller on Amazon be realistic.
"It will be like Arkham VR" Its nothing to do with Arkham VR that was a short experience 9 years ago, This is a full game from different devs.
"Nobody will but this for one game" Look Halo got people to buy Xbox - they did not just play Halo Quest has a massive library of games.
@@RedcoatTrooperIf you look at my previous video (technically 2, one where I talked about the announcement and just info and one where I gave my genuine opinion on it) a lot of "VR Bros" act like entitled rich kids who are angry at anyone who just isn't interested in their interest. The criticisms that always come up if someone would prefer something else or enjoys something else more is "well that's because you're poor. You don't have enough money or enough space." Every single time it comes up. It's why a lot of people hate PC players too. The entitled "Well you're not enjoying my thing because you don't have money."
Personally, my only real issue with this is that people asked for a standard sequel to AO for years, and WB ignored them. WB is the main problem. They mishandled all their franchises and blew it with the most recent title in this universe (Suicide Squad). That's what my video is about. If WB had handled all their properties better, they'd get way less criticism on this, deserved or not.

Batman Beyond wishes to ask WB why they dislike them.
Companies like WB stopped caring what their fans liked years ago. Now it's all about what they want and 'ef us if we don't buy into it and give them our money. They just use golden parachutes to safely float away from any possible financial loss or failures.
"Blaming the fans" is truly the new #1 golden rule in both Hollywood and gaming companies. It's sickening.

Remaster would be the best option since it would only update the graphics and keep everything else intact, WB would muck up the remake and fill it with DEI bs just like they did with Gotham Knights and SSKTJL
And fix the leveling thing so you can replay the stealth section and not have to play exactly perfectly to reach max rank on a playthrough or play multiple passes to unlock Batman's skills and perks.
@batgoat0757 I would be down for a remaster over a remake. The Return to Arkham release ruined the lighting/art style so much. Plus, they messed batman's face up horribly in the Asylum remake.
As an owner of a Meta Quest 3, and a huge fan of the Arkhamverse, I'm 100% getting it.
Thank you for at least not putting the hate on the guys making this game. According to Ryan Payton, Meta and Camouflaj approached WB Games with the idea of building this game for their platform in 2020 after they made Iron Man VR. Most of the criticism comes from other projects that have already released here. I am really excited for this game - I have always loved the Arkham games, but I love VR too. I am anticipating the game play footage from Gamescom in a couple weeks.
Whenever anyone asks who is the best Batman, there is no doubt it is Kevin Conroy. There is no replacement. However, we do move on. I am excited that there are many returning voice actors for Arkham Shadow. I am just finishing a play of Arkham Origins, and I am enjoying Roger Craig Smith. I actually missed the Cold, Cold Heart DLC and just recently picked that up - I am looking forward to playing it when I finish gathering all the collectables.
If anything though - if you watch the interviews with Ryan Payton - he is a lore nerd. Even looking at the Easter eggs in the trailers that are out there - there is a lot to be excited for!
We know Rat King will be the big bad, and the obvious elements that are there - Harley, Dent, Scarecrow, Ratcatcher... but the Easter eggs for Wrath, Lock Up, Mad Hatter, Black Canary, and Grey Ghost. I have to try to track one more of the images down, but I thought I might have seen a Zatanna clue (might be wishful thinking for me there though). They also hint that the collectables might not be Riddler trophies (I'm thinking that might be an attempt at misdirection, but might it not be pretty cool to swap the Riddler and Joker in this one? Joker leaves the collectables for you and Riddler is the behind the scenes bad guy?) I just read the One Bad Day... Riddler - I would be interested to see that guy be the villain. Again, I don't think that is what is going to happen, but until the game comes out, until we get to see the revealed footage - I am enjoying just being excited for a new Arkham game... and admittedly, I love that it will be in VR. I am really wanting to enjoy it for what it is, and hoping it can live up to the enormous expectations. As you said, only two of the games have met the expectations - so on that note I am a little concerned, That, and my hoping the graphics can look really amazing... its not a PC game after all.
We are going to get Behemoth, a Metro game, an Alien game and Hitman this year! Of all of those, I am most excited for Arkham, but am looking forward to each one in its own way.

Ryan Peyton and Camouflaj definitely don't deserve hate for doing their jobs. WB deserves critique for mishandling and not meeting the demands of what their audiences want imo. I think it would have gone over WAY better if there wasn't a string of cancelled WB projects and broken promises along with a mediocre game and then terrible game in recent history. WB teed up the ball for Camo to be getting hated on, even though those developers are doing their job. That's why I have no problem with the studio or creators. It's the rights holders jobs to get their other projects off the ground and make sure they materialize competently. WB has blundered that at every step and now unfortunately it's someone else taking the heat for their incompetence.
@@DegenerateJay Well, I am happy that so far it looks like this project is in good hands and that Payton (Sorry, my bad on misspelling his name) is such a lore nerd! I love that in the most recent 20 questions interview he talked about watching the Animated Series as he goes to bed and found something they were able to get into the game kind of last minute (OK, not sure how fast you can put things into a game unless it is just a Easter Egg/reference).
I just watched The Batman again last night... really not a huge fan of it although more for some of the performances (Pattinson as Wayne/Batman was simply not a good performance IMHO) but the story itself... I am really intrigued by the idea of what you could do with Riddler as the big villain.
So I guess what I am finding for myself, I am very excited for what we are getting - a new Arkham game in VR - rather than dreading the idea of something that does not exist, or has not been announced (a new console/PC game). I am hoping for great success for this Arkham game so that it might inspire either a series of these games and inspires WB and whatever other developer gets on board to reignite the fire for a new series of Batman or other games (I am hoping for a good Wolverine game down the road) in the same way it seems Half Life Alyx seems to have inspired Valve to start working on a Half Life 3. (According to HLA The Final Hours - No one at Valve wanted to go back to Half Life because it was too intimidating. Where doing the VR game actually inspired the team to jump back in and it sounds like we might actually get HL3!) I would love it if Arkham Shadow could inspire other projects because of it finding great success. But that will depend on how well Camouflaj does their work.
It's just a gross sense of entitlement. They think because they're the ones who own DC, they think they'll get the "big money" hand over fist, no questions asked, regardless if the quality is POS or not.
What's worse, now that these companies found ways to give themselves "golden parachutes", no one has to take responsibilities anymore and simply blame fans for failures.
Now I think WB does a lot of what they do out of sheer spite for us fans because of their own short comings and failures. Suicide Squad truly was a "middle finger" to their own fanbase, trying to shank their hopes in the back for any chances of more LEGIT Arkham games for consoles in the future.
I really, really wish another company would just pick up DC comics and just be done with it for DC comics. They clearly don't care anymore. At least Disney goes out of their way to PRETEND to care about their products before we get them in public. With WB, it's all just plain spite at this point.

To answer the question, right now VR is advancing HORRIFICALLY FAST.
I own and have owned a quest 2 for a few years and my friend owns a quest 3, the difference in performance and visuals is incomparably large. I would compare the difference in power like the Wii and the switch, sure you can run mariokart on both, but the difference in performance between MKWii natively from a disk to MK8deluxe is absolutely huge. The Wii would NOT be able to run MK8deluxe at a passable performance. And the last thing WB needs is another Arkham Knight Nintendo Switch Edition problem.
I will be purchasing a quest 3 more because i'm due for an upgrade but also the things the devs continue to talk about sound like some of the most fun mechanics to physically interact with. The way they explain combat, gliding, using the grapple gun, everything sounds like a dream for a VR user
I'm super pumped because i know what this technology is capable of and if the execution is as good as the Devs say it is, it may be a favorite

I understand why many people want Arkham Shadow to be a console game, but I need to address something that should be taken into account. The game’s developer, Camouflaj are based around making VR games specifically Iron Man VR. Asking them to make a console game would probably be out of their element. Also from what I heard, Camouflaj were the ones who conceptualized Arkham Shadow and pitched it to WB, so it’s practically their own choice. Where I’m going with this is there’s a grey area in wanting Arkham Shadow to be on console since it’s not what the developer is known for.
Now that’s not to say things could’ve been handled differently. I do think the game should’ve at least been on more headsets to increase players. Plus I would absolutely prefer a Batman Arkham game on console over one on VR. But I’m willing to see how this turns out since Camouflaj has been good in quality so far. I’ve also been a VR guy for almost eight years, so I’m actually looking forward to this game. But I still understand the complaints about this game being on VR. My point is the criticisms and context around this is flawed in several ways.

Couldn't they make a different version then? Like how there used to be different versions of the same game, for different consoles, developed by different studios. Like most of the Spider-Man games.

You realise every console player every pc player every single guy waiting for another sequel to this game for the longest time and then turns out they have to pay what 500 euros or dollars and then additional 50 or 60 dollars to play the game.... WB had a perfect opportunity to do another triple a Arkham game set between Origins and Asylum with Roger Craig Smith back as a slightly younger but experienced Batman in his prime but they just had to make it another fucking VR game that nobody asked for.
That's giving WB too much credit. WB was likely not going to even do anything with the Arkham franchise. The studio that is developing Arkham Shadow wanted to make a VR Arkham game and pitched it to WB first.

That's not even close to the same. VR is essentially more similar to going somewhere than compared to watching someone go somewhere. If you want to experience it and for some reason don't wanna spend affordable console prices, then you can always borrow one from a friend.

After watching interviews from members at Camaflaj I'm really excited for this game. I have good hopes because every dev was actually required to play every Batman Arkham game but blackgate as it was optional but apparently many devs still chose to play that as well. They seem very passionate and understand how much people care about the Arkham franchise. Also I get why it's not for quest 2. Game was being made for the quest 3 since the beginning as they wanted to make it as good as possible without being restricted by quest 2. Can't wait to try it out and hopefully with the Quest 3S coming out more people will be able to afford getting to play the game.

Yes, I'm sad it's VR exclusive (a single VR system no less), however, from the developer interviews they seem to be genuine fans and really earnest about respecting the Arkham universe. Even if I can't play it myself, I'm really looking forward to the story. Gonna watch a ton of playthroughs.
Also, fans keep saying WB made it VR to screw over the fans or that they're allergic to money. This is not the case. The team making Shadow had the idea and came to WB, and it was greenlit. The game was always VR from the start. It was never a traditional Arkham game.

Well the Quest 3S is coming this fall for $300 same as the switch. If you try to compare on the used market I can get a Quest 3 for around $300 as well

As both an Arkham fan and a huge "vr bro," I couldn't be more excited for this game. We don't get enough truly high quality vr games of substantial length, so it's dope to see something cool for those of us who have invested in VR. Plus Camouflaj did an amazing job with Iron Man VR, and based on every interview I've seen with the lead dev, he has an incredible respect for the games and the lore and seems passionate about delivering something new. He literally made it a rule that everyone in the team had to play all the Arkham games so they could contribute to discussion.
I agree that WB is garbage to their fans, but this is Meta's in house project. Designed from the ground up to be a VR experience. This game is goinna slap.

@KingTwannXx I very much wanted this. Plenty of people do. Arkham Knight made me upgrade from PS3 to PS4. I bought my Quest 1 to play Half Life Alyx. Bought the Quest 2 for RE4 VR. I got a PS5 for GOW. And so it continues that I got a Quest 3 for Arkham Shadow. While I'd rather this game have a pcvr steam release, the entire point of an exclusive is to sell you on a system. VR is still too niche and small of an audience, so most companies aren't willing to take the risk of developing anything with a real budget. The hardware is great these days, but we need more big titles to draw people in, so we can get more big titles, lol. Meta is the only one in the VR space really spending (and bruning tbf) the big money, like it or not, but I can only see this as a win for VR to grow the audience so we continue to get more cool shit in the future.
I know shit's expensive, everything is these days.. that's what credit cards and payment plans are for, lol. You can actually finance a Quest 3 for like 25 a month, and there's a cheaper lite version dropping soon. You could always join us dude

This is why that it should have been put on console systems. At this point I would give the Arkham ip to insomniac and let them make a Arkhamverse style Batman their own way picking up the Origins idea of a younger Batman in his early career and his recruitment of Robin and Batgirl which a choice system, similar to the way mass effect and Star Wars with light and dark side, and different routes of the Batman storyline with different outcomes.
Insomniac is stretched way too thin though. They’re having issues just getting done the games they’re making now.

@@user-zy2yv5ce9x Blade and Sorcery, Hitman 3, HL Alyx, Boneworks/Labs, Into the Radius 1-2, VTOL VR, No Mans Sky, Skyrim VR (With mods of course), Phasmophobia, Ghost of Tabor, Walking Dead Saints & Sinners 1-2, Assassins Creed Nexus, and the list goes on and on. Plus, the countless free mods for flatscreen games that turn them into VR games, such as the fantastic PCVR Resident Evil Remake VR mods. There's a lot of fantastic games for VR, especially if you have the PCVR and Quest 3 combo which vastly expands your VR library. Anyone that tells you there are no games for VR are stuck in the past.
Not buying a game for a vr headset that is more expensive than the one I barely use.

I'm a hardcore Arkham fan from 360 days, but I'm more excited about this VR game than any other possibility. When done right, VR sells immersion to the point non VR games are laughable in comparison. In that particular aspect. With AAA games, you feel like you're the character, not watching from a 3rd or 1st person perspective. I know that "feel" line is a meme, but playing something like Asgard's Wrath 2 in VR and holding that shield close to my face as arrow pelt it and fall as I push forward. You just can't get that level of awesomeness on a flatscreen, even with 100x better visuals, which isn't possible.
I for sure am not buying this or a Meta Quest 3. It seems they do this on purpose to stir the pot and watch fans get pissed.
Why would anyone want to see Batman on a screen instead of 'being' Batman and be 'inside' the game? A VR Batman game is the best thing to ever happen to Batman in gaming.
Of course, those who don't want to try it or buy a headset will complain over and over without even starting to realise how incredibly amazing VR is. Others will say it's too expensive even though a Q3 is cheaper than a PS5, etc etc.
By the way, recording a VR screen is as simple as pressing two buttons inside the headset's menu.

I don't think being a Quest 3 only game is a deal-breaker, similar concept to Playstation exclusives.
Doubt it was WB's decision to make another VR game, they were definitely approached by the Meta team, and paid a large sum.

I used to have a three game, must have, rule with consoles. If there were three games I needed to play, I would buy the console.

So you have Batman Arkahm Shadow, you can play Resident Evil 4, Attack on titan, Hitman 3, Sniper Elite, Iron Man, Asgards Wrath 2 which is a 70hr rpg game comparable to Skyrim, Zombie Army, Metro, and an Alien game. Those are the ones I can think off the top oif my head but trust me there are way more

This game wouldn't work on a Quest 2. That's why it's a Quest 3 exclusive meant to push people to upgrade to a Quest 3 so they can make more games that are better quality, because they're designed for newer hardware. Also Meta will be announcing the Quest 3S soon, which will be a lower priced version of the Quest 3. It might even come bundled with Batman. Either way, I'm getting it.
I am honestly interested in buying this game, but I am planning to wait for its gameplay trailer at gamescon. I've decided to watch the interviews, and it seems like the devs really love the game and lore so much more than rocksteady. Having the requirement to play all the arkham games (optional for blackgate), really makes me happy. Its a request I have a lot for many franchises, specifically Star Trek right now because the people in charge of that are not doing a good job and keep making so many mistakes. Also, the devs for Shadow are attempting to create an experience that I've wanted for so long. The most I can do to replicate vr batman combat is through mods on Blade & Sorcery, so the fact they are making this game, makes me really excited. The only issue is WB, and hopefully they don't get greedy.
People still seem to forget that this is essentially a sequel to Arkham Origins, in the style of Arkham Asylum. What they should've done, was make a seperate release for PC and console, but that would probably be too difficult given the nature of vr controls. I know it sucks for many people, but it's still a really cool concept, and the team behind it seems to have a lot of passion

Would be nice if people wouldn't be so butthurt. I might not have a headset, but that doesn't really matter to me. What matters is that WB is allowing some devs to publish a game that probably isn't going to instantly get a big fan base... this is the exact opposite of what they tried to do with SSKTJL and a step into the right direction. This looks more like some devs making a game they want to make, which is something I love to see.
Remaster Arkham Origins, fix some of the game's glitches and game design problems (like the fact that enemies don't respawn once you've finished any predator sequence so you can't go back after story to complete the Dark Knight Challenges) and also, this one is a minor complaint but please fix the aliasing in Arkham Knight, give us some proper TAA implementation, perhaps even integrate DLAA and DLSS into it.

Agreed. This is simply easy and free money for WB. They aren't lifting a finger outside of coordination and any internal review. Meta is backing all this. Meta's studio is developing this. They will ironically do better by Batman as of late. All that's out there are really just Quest 2 games. I am actually excited. I hope it's actually a badass game. That's only a great thing. Hopefully it will get WB off their asses and do something right themselves to reignite the property.

1. Meta quest 3 is as cheap or cheaper than most consoles 2. This can't run on the quest 3 because it has twice the capability so the game will be 10x better 3. Meta has outsold Xbox recently 4. I'm all down for studios trying to experiment and push boundaries in unfamiliar frontiers of gaming, after all the Arkham series has always been built on novel ideas and feats for their times since Asylum, but the fact that they took a hallmark series beloved by millions of people and pushed for having a new sequel be playable only on a single, extremely niche and expensive platform really shows that Wonder Bros. can't even meet the most basic demands of their fans.

7:25 Arkham Asylum and especially City don't deserve to be "pretty much universally loved." Micah Edmonds' video critiques of each game are pretty spot on. Arkham City, in terms of a narrative adaptation of Batman, might just be the worst, big mainstream installment *ever*, and the detachment of the 'legendary' status the game has enjoyed all these years only makes it worse. At least Batman & Robin is a so-bad-it's-good kind of spoof. AC is just a borderline spoof within a very fun gameplay experience that people fundamentally misrepresent like it's some kind of paragon.
Understandable, but if they're going to make another Batman game that's for "standard gaming"; it shouldn't be associated with the "Arkhamverse" but something new. The Arkham games had a shaky ending with its story, especially when they made Suicide Squad canon. They need to move on, have a similar or exact combat system and make something that's not "Arkham".
I personally think it's a great idea they're making this Batman Arkham game VR. I already told you my opinion on how the Arkham franchise is cooked, so they really have nothing to lose making this VR. On the same page i think it's a win for VR!
VR and AR are still in the experimental stages, the controls and motions need more work, it needs more content/features, and it needs more games. But with that being said I see VR/AR becoming mainstream in the next 6-8 years. It's pretty cool right now depending what games, apps, and mods you use, and it's only going to get better! Im not talking just for gaming but for learning applications as well. You could learn how to drive, weld, architecture, look at mathematics(geometry) in a different way, "travel" the world, and have advanced simulations in space and throughout history. Oh and just in case you naysayers say "You can't learn how to drive or weld in VR". There's schools and companies that already use this technology to teach their students or employees, it's just not mainstream or available on a quest headset. Obviously you can't feel the actual motions( not yet) of the car or welding electro holder, but it's way more interactive and descriptive than a book or someone telling you about it. I guess if you're super rich you could have a treadmill or special chair that simulated motion?But anyway I've been talking way too much lol.
I have a quest 2, and this game gave me yet another reason to upgrade to the quest 3. Meta paid for this game to showcase what the quest 3 can do and use it as a platform seller. Any real fan of batman would be happy to experience it with full immersion. What else could be better than BEING batman ? i don't understand the frustration of other platforms players, they have plenty of pc games to choose from. And for once one game doesn't support PC they are crying about it, pull yourserves together guys, you're grown adults. You can't always be the ones served, let others have nice things too.

@DegenerateJay, As a fan of VR and Batman, I am also sad WB is only making it for Quest 3 (i also only have a quest 2) , and not any other platform. I don't like it when others can't have the same experience and fun . Vr makes me sick as well, but not all games do it that for me. When a VR game is shown on the desktop it doesn't do it justice. It really needs to be put on your head and see what the big deal is. Lets see what review say about the game when it come out ... and then maybe it will get you into VR.

A concept of spider man into the spiderverse game was out with the gameplay the character's it was even forshadowed in spider man 2 then guess what sony decided to do with it..... they cancelled the project.
Then other games like concord was created which was amazing with no battlepasses nor micro-transactions with 8 years into development and over 100 millions dollars to develop the game the only flaw it had was the fact that the game costs 40$ unlike basically every other competitive shooter games out there who are all free which let to very little players buying the game and when they realize their mistake instead of concord just try to make their game free and let everyone play it which is going to give them alot of money they shut down the game refunded the players who bought it and thats it. That one is just the perfect example of being allergic to money.
And then the batman Arkham shadows its like WB just lost their memories on how to gain alot of money when developing this game because everyone in their mother have been waiting for another sequel for basically a decade now and then finding out its a vr exclusive no a meta quest 3 exclusive now you need to buy an additional 500$ vr headset in order to buy the arkham shadow and play the game and your not even using the meta quest 3 for anything else because its not even a good headset in the first place atleast the content it offers are basically just blame garbage to say the least.
This could have been the perfect opportunity for WB to actually make millions upon millions of money by just releasing the game on every platform or atleast the pc which most gamers have certainly a vr that almost not every gamer has to make a game this good exclusive to it would be just a absolute stupid move to do so.
I'm telling you a Red Hood and Robin game of them teaming up and forming a brotherly bond would be dope! You could improve the combat for both of them add Villians that didn't make the cut in Knight like Zsaz as side missions! Cmon it'd be so dope to have a conflict between Jason and Robin! You could revisit the Batcave give Robin and Jason a motorcycle for more traversal!! Cmon it'd be awesome to play as these characters!!
I absolutely do love the idea of more Arkham Batman in his early years (especially since RGS is back as the character), but I don't want to buy a different console to play it when I already have 3 platforms.
Plus with how little I feel like Arkham VR added back when it first came out, I'm not sure what this game's really going to add in the grand scheme of things.
Arkham Knight received criticism for the overuse of the batmobile but I think it was fine. AK is the best batman simulator and it has the best combat that has ever been created in a video game. They expanded it and it was flawless. Asylum, city and knight are amazing. WB mishandled their game like their movie universe. WB executives are brainless and they keep making the wrong decision.

I quite like Roger Craig Smith as Batman in Origins, along with Origins Blackgate which the majority of people tend to dismiss and really shouldn't. Pretty sure after the earnings report stating Suicide Squad KtJL is responsible for WB Games losing 41% of revenue, they will likely be in panic mode scrambling to fix that. My current prediction is Arkham Shadows will be coming out for other VR systems and perhaps a non-VR version gets made, with a tagline saying the game is best played in VR. A trollfacing Wario's thoughts.
To answer your question Jay, I would love to but it, but like many others, I don't have the money or the stomach for a $500 VR headset. I've been a superfan of Batman Arkham for what seems like my whole life, and I've been waiting for, not only a new Arkham game, but just a new Batman game, for the last 9 years, and now there is a new Arkham coming out this fall and I both financially and physically cannot play it.
Another thing, I love Scarecrow as a Batman villain, and locking his ORIGIN IN THE ARKHAMVERSE behind this specific console that a lot of people don't own, and that most people won't get, is absolutely MIINDBOGGLING to me.

Consoles are literally from like 30 yrs ago. VR is here and you can’t do anything to stop it unfortunately.
Flat screen gaming was new once. The only difference is that flatscreen gaming didn't have a previous, more developed, medium to get compared to. VR isn't a gimmick, it's a new platform that is just starting to leave it's infancy.

The reality of the Arkham games is that it peaked with City and anything that comes after isn't going to be the same. I did not like Arkham Knight, though I will be giving this new one a chance because I do Love Origins and play it every Christmas. This could be a great Halloween game for a Batman fan. Also, the Quest 3 is a great device, I highly recommend it to folks that are interested in VR. If you aren't, oh well? There are ps5 exclusives, you can't really be mad that a new game doesn't run on the last generation of hardware.
