In Arkham City Hugo Strange said I will build these mega Prison's in Keystone and Metropolis, that is a plot point that was forgotten by everyone, I want to see Flash Rouge city Were Captain Cold starts a gang war with someone in that Prison. What superman and flash were doing during Arkham city should be a game
Hard to believe this game is 15 years old. I love all Easter eggs that are in this game and probably has the best atmosphere in the franchise
Probably?
I always imagined Arkham aslyum as a secret BTAS episode, with the retiring voice actors and the whole vibe
While there are differences that make it kinda of impossible, there's also enough similarities between the Arkham games and TAS that make me want to insist the Arkhamverse is a secret sequel to TAS lol
@@thegargoylecumeth7932 animated universe doesn't have a Jason Todd tho
@@pratikdodake7645 I'm gonna argue there could be, as Jason was part of the TAS comic continuation
@@thegargoylecumeth7932the comics are separate
My favorite thing that luckily became a series staple is the fear mechanic. It really makes you feel like Batman when you slowly pick off goons one by one in a predator section and have them get more and more scared the less of them there is to the point where they are shaking and always watching there back.
To this day I still love going back to this game, even if it's old and the games after do more in everything. Arkham Asylum brought Batman to videogames in a more positive light and one of the best superhero videogames of all time.
Same I was enamored when it came out. I always go back to it either start from the beginning or just beat guys up. Still the killer croc level creeps me out.😂
Asylum is one of the most enjoyable 100%’s that I’ve ever done
0:10 is crazy 💀
Lmao
Ikr
It's been 15 years since we jonkled in the aslume 🥹❤
Oh geez
For one congratulations arhkam asylum
For two 0:10 is CRAZY
My favorite thing about Arkham Asylum is the atmosphere and voice acting.
It can be 30 years old and still be one of the best Batman games ever made
See you in 15 years
I love how things is the year of Batman: anniversary to Batman 89, 80 years of Batman in the comics, anniversary to BTAS, anniversary of Batman Beyond, anniversary of Arkham Asylum, ect.
I can’t explain it but this game has such a unique vibe, when I first played it I was like 11 and the darker and violent tone of Batman was just so awesome. Just wish it ran at 60fps on consoles
My fav of the whole Arkham series
What I love the most about this game is the artwork and aesthetics
Whilst subsequent games in the series have improved the gameplay, Arkham Asylum still holds very well to this day. I'll defend the Return to Arkham remaster, I love it, but even back in 2009, the game was so graphically stunning, and of course, set the bar for superhero games. My absolute favourite part is listening to Kevin Conroy, Mark Hamill, and Arleen Sorkin reprise their roles from the animated series, that will never get old
Yeah I think Return to Arkham connects with some people and not others. I prefer the OG colors/lighting BUT it's not egregious like some say in the remaster, it's just different.
Every time I go back to this game I appreciate it more and more. While it lacks a lot of mechanics from future games it has something that no other Arkham game nails in terms of atmosphere and overall creep factor. Because of that I honestly think this might be my favourite Arkham game as I feel like it’s not replicated in any of the following games
I really miss the wackiness of the ultra-batclaw. I would love to see mods for the game that added new areas and encounter types.
I wonder if they had any idea it would be this influential.
I Feel old ! August 25th 2009, August 24 2023 ,Arleen Sorkin(OG Voice of Harley ) passing and August 30th my B-day. WowEee
The whole claustrophobic environment I love even to this day.
As for stealth, I think Batman Begins movie game by Eurocom which was released in 2005 had various stealth elements which I think Rocksteady could have drawn some inspiration from with Asylum.
The scarecrow hallucinations and crocs lair my favorite parts in tge game
Just to let you know bro, as a fan of your channel and your videos, I am one of those people that this game really touched and changed. Like I remember playing Arkham Asylum religiously like one month straight after I graduated because I was about to go to work after a month. The game just changed my perspective on things, like, I have something to look forward to.
Asylum is still my favourite in the series.
It is so dear to my heart being one of the first games I finished by myself without my big brother's help, it is so tightly woven, and was developed with such dedication on all fronts I simply adore it! 10/10 Masterpiece!
I played Arkham city first but man when I got to play Asylum the environment instantly drew me in. The creepy asylum atmosphere just drew me in.
If they were to remake or remaster Asylum the main things I would want would be these:
-Combat that won’t drop combos quickly
-Being able to perform grate and vent takedowns
-Add side missions to enhance the post game
-Having the sliding mechanic and the disarm and destroy ability
-Fixing the remote batarang
-Maybe make Bane less dumb and more threatening if that’s possible
-Change up the boss fights
My favourite thing about arkham asylum definitely has to be the mysterious creepy atmosphere and feeling of isolation from the outside world as the player everything relies upon you to get to the finish line and succeed above all else otherwise the joker gets the the last laugh so to speak and there's that sense of your basically left to your own devices with no one else that can help and are the only one who can do this as your progressing through the game that urges the player on its like if die hard was set in arkham asylum with batman in the john McClain role with a eerier atmosphere which is a recipe for awesomeness as a big fan of both characters it's such a cool concept for a video game absolutely brilliant
They should bring back arkham orgigins it's the only game I haven't played yet and it makes sense to do since arkham shadow is coming out and Roger Craig Smith is voice acting batman in that game
I’m working through my hard play through of the game. I loved the Asylum’s atmosphere. The sense of dread around every corner as you progressed. Scarecrow and Croc were and still are terrifying. The story was super well written. However with it being the first one in the franchise it suffers from not having some of the best innovations added in city that made you feel more like Batman. The free flow combat wasn’t perfected yet either. Yet even in spite of its shortcomings, it still holds up. Even the graphics aren’t bad for being a 15 year old game.
Happy birthday arkham asylum, 15 years old dang girl look at you still going strong. For its fifteen year anniversary I'm definitely going to play it again. The one thing I hate about arkham asylum is their only one costume. I'm glad arkham city fixed it but that's the only problem I have with the game. My favorite thing about the game is the batsuit is awesome I love the bullet holes on the chest area of the suit. I don't know why Bruce didn't get a new suit but it truly has that bad ass vibe like not even bullets can destroy me.
I think remaking Asylum definitley could risk loosing some of that atmosphere. Something that plays into it IS the aged graphics imo. In the words of Boromir, "Arkham Asylum has no remake, Arkham Asylum needs no remake" (Definitley the exact words he said, yes.)
Spiderman, Blade, Xmen, Iron Man, Batman(89), and Superman all are debated as the first superhero movie to put the genre out there.
But there is only one answer to the first superhero game to be something more.
Great video Jay I remember when this came out they were no Batman games like this and it had combat no other superhero games had at the time and it’s has a more horror tone and it hard to believe this game is 15 years old it makes me feel old knowing that and to answer your question Jay my favorite thing about Arkham Asylum was the combat and for this game the more horror tone this game has
My favorite thing about Batman Arkham Asylum is the dark, gothic atmosphere, I guess you could say. Like, the part where you exit the Intensive Treatment building, and you see the main island of the asylum is still one of the best moments in the entire Arkham series.
My least favorite aspect of this game (besides Shock and Awe Extreme) is the boss fights, especially the Titan Joker boss fight. In spite of that, it's still a great game, and one of my favorite games of all time. :D
Favorite thing about Arkham Asylum for me is the atmosphere. Between the tight corridors and rooms, the creepy music, and the encounters with Scarecrow, Killer Croc, and the insane inmates, it really stands out.
Least favorite thing is either the combat with dropping combos too quickly and feeling slower compared to the later games or not having much to do outside of the story for the post game.
Favorite thing about asylum is the intro, gets me everytime.
Least favorite thing is the gliding "mechanics" if you can even call it that lol
i just played this game for the first time this year and yeah it holds up amazingly
The game still holds 💯💯
I appreciate having a creator who is also obsessed with Arkham asylum. It’s comforting for me.
I'm glad my mental problems can bring people a small semblance of joy hahaha 😂
I just got 100% on this game and finished it on Hard a week ago, with Biggest Bang being the last achievement I needed to “Platinum” Arkham Asylum on Xbox
Anyway I think this game works the best as a way to ease you into the Arkham games, rather than starting on City or Knight
It has a really good, condensed story experience that everyone should play through at least once if they wanna know what being Batman is like
My favorite part in the game is The Bactanical Gardens. Also when you fight henchmen and the infected titan henchmen around the elevators. And jokers Party. And by the way my favorite Arckham game
I think it really speaks to the quality of this series that even the weakest in the series is still among the best action/super-hero games that you can get.
As for my favorite thing...Yeah, definitely the atmosphere. It's the most contained and focused of the series, and while I certainly wish there was a side mission or two that wasn't the Riddler (maybe that cut murder mystery or something), and my least favorite thing is, another generic answer, the boss fights. There are some differences between them all, but not enough to really make them feel distinct. Titan Joker was also stupid as hell
Least favourite part of this game is of course the bosses since a lot of them are just repeats of the Bane boss only without the healing ability. My favourite part are the Scarecrow encounters, they are incredibly creepy and each one just improves on the last.
My favorite thing about Arkham Asylum is the atmosphere especially in the Killer Croc and Scarecrow boss fight i could never forget the fake crash.
My least favorite thing would probably have to be the other bosses because they are all basically just the same thing including poison ivy because even though she's different she only has 2 attacks.
This is probably a unpopular opinion but Asylum is my favorite Arkham game.
I remember watching trailers for this.. Jesus holy mother of fxxkin christ 15 years
I was legit playing this yesterday. Love it
Got over 100 hours in this game, it’s such a good game and I hope we eventually get more contained games like asylum
My favorite thing about asylum is all the Easter eggs since so many of these were based on the animated series more so than the Arkham verse
My favorite aspect was its horror
Even the stiff animations of some characters, like the joker, adds to it.
I just finished it again for the anniversary. City is the most complete package, Knight is the most immersive, Origins has the beat boss battles and the best story, but playing Asylum again made me remember that it has that vibe and that atmosphere that made me fall in love with Batman and cemented my definitive version of the Batman world and mythos. As you said, it's TAS but more mature, love it, love them all. Omw to City again.
I can't pick one. I have a lot of favorite things about Arkham Asylum.
1. The Atmosphere
2. The Character design for Batman and Joker
3. The Ultra Batclaw
4. The Detective Mode
5. The Batmobile AND Batwing Design
6. Killer Crocs Lair
7. The creepy and intense music
And finally, the last thing that I feel does NOT get enough praise is The Chronicles of Arkham. I think it was SO creative to have this idea of listening to a story about a mysterious person claiming to be the Spirit of Arkham by scanning these stones. Such a memorable thing about the game that is so underrated.
Can't believe it's been 15 years. Truly a MASTERPIECE!!!
I had actually finished getting all the achievements for this game on the Xbox One on Halloween!
Man, I feel old. I was 20 when this game came out, I still play today. This is actually my favorite one. It’s the setting itself that I like better then Arkham city I still love both games, but I love the creepiness of this
This game will always have a very special place in my heart. This series practically raised me lol, I hope you feel better soon Jay!
Halo: CE had certain rooms throughout the campaign where you sneak through and pick off unaware enemies one by one. It wasn't exactly what the game was designed for, and not particularly rewarding from a gameplay perspective, but it was pretty fun and satisfying.
Favorite thing: I could feel the love and respect for the lore of Batman and the Rogue's Gallery when playing the game.
Least favorite: the whole titan formula storyline and Joker boss fight. Doesn't really feel like a plot thar Joker would be hatching. The results of this storyline though, where he sends his poisoned blood to hospitals, does feel like something he'd do.
Ya arkham city Joker was better, He was sick didn't want to die so he infected the city with his blood so Batman will be forced to find a cure, If he dies then so does the city, he had a goal I don't want to die it was a simple easy to understand goal Arkham 1 was get an army and take over the city he would not care about that
To this day I still play it.
Yes, I was waiting for this one cant believe it's been 15 years 😮 I was like 7, holy 😳
Still gets my vote as the best Arkham game. The story, the atmosphere and the standout Scarecrow sections.
I remember having fits when this game came out cuz of it not having hints lol I was 10 years old but I later beat haha can’t believe it’s been 15 years damn 😭
👏🏻 well deserved of such high praise. Batman Arkham had set the tone for future superhero games.
favorite thing was the art design and how the world told you a story, separate from the main game. least favorite thing was killer crocs lair💀
I like Arkham Asylum because it makes you feel alone and isolated.
Thanks for another vid jay
Favorite thing about this game is how easy it is to out smart the riddler
Everybody shut up my goat is talking 🖤
Not that I think a remake would be worse than the original.. but what would be the point?? Personally I think what everyone wants is a follow up to knight. Whether it be centered around Terry McGinnis or Dick Grayson
My favorite thing about this game is just the villains small Easter eggs and my least favorite are the Riddler trophies but it is not as bad as the riddler trophies in Batman Arkham city because of the only one trophy is glitch out for me because I play it on the Xbox 😭
Also your looking good Jay I pray for you're continued good health and fortune.
Your comment made me think of this, what about a marvel or dc game with dmc 5 combat
I can’t believe it’s been 15 years since this game came out
Most underrated Arkham game now
I should have listened to you about the xbox 360 store shutting down because now I can’t get the dlc for Arkham origins and I’ve been meaning to buy all the dlc for a long time
That game gave us the best batman character OFFICER BALLS!
Favorite- The Game play is perfect
Least Favorite or Change something more Villains/Boss Fights like Two Face and The Penguin and some side Missions something we would have in later games
Its my favorite game still
Favorite thing for me is the setting and atmosphere. It’s so creepy and mysterious but at the same time it’s what makes it so replayable. Also I like how although it’s not open world, it felt big, like it’s not like Arkham knight but for asylum it felt huge and it’s just on an island. Always admired that. My least favorite thing is probably the generic repetitive boss fights (except scarecrow and killer croc although that may not be considered boss fights). Also, the story of it is meh. Joker allows himself to get captured so he can release inmates for the hell of it and go after a doctor that backed out of a deal with him so he can do what he’s been planning. Not the best but it’s simple.
TLDR: best thing about Asylum is atmosphere and how it felt big although it wasn’t open world. Worst thing is the boss fights and weakest story out of all 4 games.
Drake joke was amazing
15 years f*ck
My least favorite thing about Asylum is the lack of a New Game+
My favorite thing about Asylum is the atmosphere, there's something about the gothic atmosphere that doesn't really shine through in the following games.
Nice
Did you and Alex talk about this lol
❤❤❤
I hope that you never stop talking about it. Also are you willing to try Arkham shadow even though im kind of intressted but hope its not woke or a miss
Also my faveorite thing is defently scarecrow even though some things could have been tweeked
literally the only thing good about the RTA remasters are the rain effects, nice shiny capes and such, the rest is inferior.
My least favorite thing is the combat flow (combos get ruined to easily)
Flash Iron Heights a G rated game, the joke is the rouges are the opposite of Batman villains all chill guys and the Jail is nice, They are all reasonable nice guys that don't like to hurt people Weather WIzard said it himself we are Thieves not killers,
I own 3 copies of this game. PS3, 360, PS4.🤷
I do too. Do we have a problem? 😭
Running out of ideas huh? XD
Appreciate Arkham Asylum getting love.
City is a fantastic game that deserves all the praise it gets but the atmosphere of Arkham Asylum in the original will always be legendary.
JFC, man. The blInd infatuation for such a stupid game like AC is a joke. It's been bullshit, fawning praise that categorically doesn't hold up under any basic scrutiny.
It can be damn good fun if one turns their brain off and sees it for what it is - rushed, barely cobbled together, gaming junk food in a weirdly self-serious, borderline spoof, shlock adaptation.
My God bro make other content besides Arkham games... Jesus
