"God sent me to piss the world off," might not be the hardest, or most lyrically crazy line of Ems. But, for me at least, its one of his most iconic. And i still love it.
Facts lol
Yeah. You fling it at anyone who talks shit about him and smile😊
Eminem is living proof that if u have a dark sense of humour most people will look at you different but some people will find you hilarious, he’s inspiring those that have a dark sense of humour and pissing off those that are sensitive as fuck at the same time thats what makes this song hilarious
I remember him saying "Dre told me to piss the world off." Is that a different version?
It’s a mission statement
This is the song that made me a fan of Eminem all it took was one listen and instantly became hooked to his music back in 1999 I was 13
Faxxx hes the goat🔥
I was born 1991, I found a CD player and a mix of his old stuff at my older cousins house. It was the first music I ever listened to besides rock on the radio. I was like 5th grade, virginity and innocence instantly gone lmao. I listen to it that whole day and no one knew. 😂
His flow is soo unique and smooth in this song
Slim Shady LP got me into Em in high school around '98-'99.
I was the same age. I remember sitting on the living room floor watching MTV when this came on. It was an absolute game changer.
Fun fact: this is literally the first song he recorded with Dre. He heard the beat and just went of...the rest is GOAT history
Another fun fact.... Eminem hates this song 😂
@@bigswan5142 Not saying this is wrong, but source please?
@@bigswan5142bro no hate but link?
I love that you found the uncensored version. The censored version is like mcdonalds salad - a poor substitute for the real thing.
Find the other uncensored versions of his songs, they are all great like this. Cheers.
😂🤣😂
What are the other uncensored songs ? I wanna know plaese
@@Anmolsingh-rk3wy practically every song of his has a uncensored version
This comment is gold 😂😂😂
This is actually really the banned version.
The unsencored version has 1 line changed to clear the sample used.
The banned line is the gay teacher wanting to have ssex in junior high.
Did not make the album.
Instead it became, my english teacher wanted to flunk me in junior high
Thanks alot, next semester i will be 35
This song was heard by EVERYONE at one point in time whether they liked him or not, they found out who he was because of it!
We certainly did.
Nah I don't think some voodoo priest from some uncontacted tribe heard this song
This is how controversial Eminem was back in the 90’s. Going in on main stream pop culture like boy bands. Absolutely love your honest reactions. Keep it up bro
This song is still crazy by today's standards 💀
Bro would get cancelled for offensive and insensitive lyrics 🐐
@@shayaanrk Not really.. id wager there would mostly be rightwing youtubers crying about how a couple of cringe lefties whined about it. 😂
That's slim shady not Eminem or Marshall. Slim is the dirty wtf he just say, Eminem is the the battle rapper and Marshall is the beast that runs it all.
You got slim and Em right but Marshall is the story teller
Shock value + Dr. Dre beat + Memorably/simplistic Chorus.
This was the formula that brought a TON of eyes on Em when he first came out. Once those eyes got to looking at Em, he came out with his 2nd album and showed the world what he could REALLY do on the mic. And it has only gone upward from there. You can tell listening to this NOW, that this is not the same type of Em that you get today. This is the "young sound" that was more straight-forward with bars and not the double/triple meaning, word bending, vocabulary throwing, scheme crazy, cadence master that we have today.
The "skills, talent and knowledge" was always there, even when this was 1st released. But they were NOT "honed and perfected" the way they are now. This was a good "introduction" because it DID cause you to pause and look at Em with a "what the hell" type of response. But once you turned to look at him, he showed you what you had either missed, ignored, or simply didn't know about with his later tracks.
It is a good thing to go back and revisit these early tracks from Em every now and then. If for no other reason than to track his career path over the years. But it is also good to revisit because you can see the level of upward mobility to his pen, skills and production as well. Thanks for putting this one out as it really shows that you can come out of the gates with a "what the heck" type of release, but once you get the attention how to really showcase what you can do.
As perfect an analysis as I ever heard about Em. I couldn't improve on this comment if I had 50 years to think about it. 💯
Bro wrote a whole essay
Eminem came out with shock rap, then he went in with skills.
He had skill from the start and he made radio friendly song at first but didn't have success (I refer to his first album - Infinite). Then he developed the Shady persona. But now that the album Death of Slim Shady is about to drop maybe we will not see Shady after it...
this is one of those songs where even if you dont really listen to rap you at least know that hook. total earworm
“Was that in the news or something?” Lmao 😂😂
I love watching young people discover the delinquent music of our generation X.
I remember seeing this video when it aired on MTV and I thought he was going to be a one hit wonder. 20+ years later...GOAT
Still remember running home from school in third grade to watch this music video on TRL. The rest is history
I still think one of the most impressive things Eminem has done is the song “Fack” not because of the song… but the fact he had crowds of people singing along to the most messed up verse on the song, and he included the song on his greatest hits album 😂😂
“And hey if you see my dad, Tell him I slit his throat in this dream I had”
❤️ favourite line ever
I always kind of like the alt version, "Ask him if he bought a porno mag to see my ass"
Em and his self deprecating rhymes are hilarious. Pretty dark but still that's his MO.
I was 18 when this came out, hadn't heard anything like it before or since. I'm not the hugest rap fan but this shit was fire. Talk about entertaining, funny, clever, catchy, everything. I've heard this song a million times but I still crack up every time I hear it.
Yes this one has many different versions and this version with the real verse about the teacher was always the hardest to find and I'm fairly sure it's the lest edited version of the song. I have a very strong feeling the real original version never got recorded lol
This version was standard in UK on the album.
Imagine him making these videos 2022!! 😂😂 he'd get banned everyday 💜💜
😄🌬😄 me laughing thinking of the 👋 *fCC* all *mad* 😄🌬😄🌬😆 thx
Y'all know he still makes videos like this now right?
I love how you can see the chorus grow on him throughout the song
I remember cruising in my New Yorker with this LP blarring erryday when this LP came out. His best album.
I’m feeling old af 😂😂 I bought this CD at target on it’s release date. I remember having to get a friends mom to buy it because they used to id you on a CD explicit lyrics 17 & up . Fuck man lol
Now this is the original version I remember from my teenage years . he is the goat
The second verse was changed a lot lyrics wise in order to get sample approval from the original artist who found it offensive.
I love so much that you’re doing down the Em rabbit hole. #Dontstop
This is the first time I am listening to this myself. So I'm happy to have heard this through your reaction. You should find his diss tracks. Those are hilarious
I am so glad i grew up with this kind of music. Lyrics - flow - beats all timeless on everytime on the limit. It makes your head work
Definitely glad you took the time to do the uncensored version, it's SO much better. His ad libs are hilarious lol. He does them in almost every song if you listen for them.
"shady wait a minute that's my girl dawg"
"I DONT GIVE A FUCK GOD SENT ME TO PISS THE WORLD OFF"
my favorite line.
The best thing about this song is that it's really Labi Siffre's "I got the" around 2mins and 9 seconds in - presumably he gets a big royalty at it's a straight sample from a big section of that record - more trivia - Dave from the cockney duo "Chas and Dave" - famous for "Rabbit" and "Mustn't grumble" played the brilliant bass line, ^oo^
It's funny seeing young people discovering Eminem. The man is a hall of famer lyricist. They'll be studying his songs in University 100 years from now.
It’s been SUCH a long time since I’ve heard the original song, lol.
He was the shock rock of rap. Shock rap?
The Kriss Kross line to listen to twice he is talking about a two kids hip hop group that had a really popular song called
"Jump". They used to wear their clothing backwards.
"Knocked her close backward like Kris Kross". Kris Kross was a 90's hip hop duo that wore their clothes backwards.
i cant actually beileve a person has gone their entire life without hearing eminem... ever.... even my 90 year old grandmother has even ACIDENTLY heard eminem.... so a kid in todays society im supposed to beileve NEVER heard him once... right
If I’m not mistaken, this is the first song Em and Dre made when Eminem first flew out to California to meet Dr. Dre.
Dre brought Em back to his studio in his house, put the beat on, and within 8-12 sec Em threw the “Hi my name is… my name is…” hook out, and the rest is history.
I was in like 8th grade when this dropped. I remember watching the premier on TRL. Ended up trading my buddy my Rage Against the Machine: Battle for LA CD for his Slim Shady LP. he still bitches about haw bad a trade that was to this day.
No way. Both are bad ass!
eminem recorded this song in dr. dre's house dr. dre wrote the beat and in the first 3 seconds eminem came up with the lyrics free style.
Wrong
Bro i love your reaction! I just subscribed!👍
Couldn’t believe it was a nationwide release the first time someone played this song for me. Every time I broke down the lyrics and flow I laughed my ass off! When The Marshall Mathers LP dropped I knew he was legit.
ALOT of bars went over his head especially the hide my hairy palms, kriss kross, pamala lee anderson etc...
I appreciate your appreciation for slim shady
I remember when the video played on The Box. My brother came busting into my room and was like you gotta come see this.
I listen, and I feel twenty again. And with hair!
Hearing this and than realising how far he has come in the rap game like omg
I'm a 41 year old white guy from Iowa, I heard this when I was 17, it changed my life. I decided to travel and meet new people.
i remember hearing this song debut on the radio, like i sat and listened to my stero in my room tuned in to my local station to hear this song, they advertised and promoted it all day... i recorded it on a tape. then i recorded the video when it first dropped on vhs. I had no idea he was white until i saw the video. amazing. week later we all bleached our hair and dressed like em
great reaction rafael leão 🙏🏻
Thanks for all the great reaction videos! Just found your channel and watching through a bunch of them.
Some more rap songs you could react to in the future: So Sick - Benefit, Amazing Tongue Twister Rap - Mac Lethal, Method Man - Wu-Tang Clan, Multiples (Reprise) - Atmosphere, Easy Come, Easy Go - Daveed Diggs & Rafael Casal, Scapegoat - Atmosphere, Exact - Benefit, and almost anything by Childish Gambino
It's his alter ego Slim Shady. He has an album cover with a mummy with needles in him, that's slim shady. You really need to listen to the slim shady lp. I think I can safely say you won't be disappointed. Eminem does different music to his early slim shady lp
You should listen to fack by Eminem it's one of his most lyrical songs he made
I refuse to believe this is the first time you’ve heard this song. Makes for a good video tho people believing that you’ve never heard it . The Stans will love that
There is no way this is his first time, like really, this songs a living legend
When you’re 30 and this is the version you remember. I love people discovering this shit. I can’t wait to show my kids. I was ten telling my uncle Em was my favorite “singer”
for real this is the 1st time yah here Em? darn man I first heard him 1998 or 99.. from then on EMINEM is THE ONLY RAPPER THAT I ALWAYS WRITE IN THE SLAM BOOK..😂😂😂 I'm so hooked and I love with Marshall
Yo that's what's great about Em not only his flow but the comedy in each song 😂
The original track they used as a sample is equally as dope!!!
"I got the ..." is amazing.
But it was sampled in 32 different songs. Among them JayZ (Streets is Watching), Beatnuts (Beatnuts Forever) and Lupe Fiasco (Knockin' at the door)
And he made this iconic hook the second he heard the beat
I love being *45* and *UA-cam* be like look at this 😄😄
Your reactions 😄💀 😆
*Perfect* 👌
IT is funny on a new level 20 plus years later as he referenced people like Usher most people would have to Google to have any clue who he is talking about and he is still going strong.
Its interesting to watch a new generation discovering the music of my youth.
I'm country we rodeo n back in school that's all u heard was someone put out a song that was so uncensored and they banned it, well hell we had to listen to it then, that's when we knew about Eminem .... and we played his stuff if we could find uncensored versions on cassette... 🤣 🤣
It's crazy how so many people can have different memories of the same song. You had the clean version for the music video, the album version, and then this version that never made the album.
Haha lol great reactions lol 😆😆👍 greetings from Poland 🇵🇱🔥🔥
Right around 2 minutes you didn't realize what that line was about, Chris Cross was a rap group from like the early 90s that wore their clothes backwards.
Love your reaction to this video 😂😂😂
Most of the stuff he raps as Slim Shady isn't literal, it's supposed to be outrageous.
Eminem and Dr. D meet for first time listing to this hook.
i remember when this video came out i was like this is the next phenomenon
this brings me back
It is so funny that the thing you find disrespectful is spitting. I love this reaction bro
I remember when Eminem came out back in like 98' or 99'
I’d love to hear you do a first listen of Wyclef Jean’s The Gambler, Wish You Were Here, and Whitney Houston Dub Plate.
Want to be flashed by that song again? Listen to it backwards... "It is me... Eminem... Eminem..."
The music video was 🔥👌🏻 🙌
You should find the video of Dr. Dre talking about the first time he introduced Eminem to this beat. He had the hook within the first few seconds.
Kids today have UA-cam. I had to wait another day and keep everyone off the TV while it’s on MTV I wanted to hear it again.
i mean...i hear this version on the noon radio here in Belgium.
In his early days Eminem had zero filter.
Ja ja ja! What a memories!!!
Great reaction Rafael Leao
He's freaking hilarious 😂😂😂
I know can't help listening or watching his videos. Always seems funny 😂
Can't tell me this is the first time in 23 yrs ever listening to this
that hairy palms line went right over his head
Hard to believe that dude is just listening to this, makes me feel old as fuck
THE GOAT
You gotta check out Eminem "Kim" and "Criminal"
You should check out the Labi Safri song “I got the…”, that’s where Dre got this beat from, it’s a great song. 👍
How can people not know this song. I am intruiged
This still gets me laughing!
I've been growing up with Eminem and I'm normal.....ok not so normal 🤣🤣🤣🤣
You need to check out something like Soldier, or Criminal
My 65 year old sister's favourite artist
I remember being 13 when this came out and being asked if I heard the new white rapper. I’m like nah I’m cool, and the follow up was nah Dre in the video it’s his artists. Word? Then it goes without saying the first time you hear the song you know are hearing a force of nature that is about to make history. And those adlibs with his storytelling made every song feel like a movie.
Hahahaaa
kris kross"Jump🎵 jump"
I love watching the new generation discover him
finally. the banned version
If I ask my 4 year old what his name is he says "chicka chicka slim shady" I have succeeded as a father
If you haven’t already, react to Eminem-(We Made You)
fyi the music video was played on MTV in the mornings. Back when they actually had/played music.
