Tom Hopper, Luther's actor, pointed out in an interview that Luther's gorilla body was caused by the gorilla serum, not by the marigold. When even the actors are openly questioning the writing decisions, you know that it's a stinker. Not to mention, Luther inexplicably forgives Allison for almost sexually assaulting him, as do the other siblings, for betraying them.

The worst part about The Umbrella Academy's final season is that they took a show that was initially about a group of adults who were trying to get over their childhood trauma and find a way to move forward together and left us with the message "actually, you can't overcome that trauma and the world's a better place without you." Not only is it a bad season, it's wild to imagine anybody thought that was a good ending.

YES. my favorite part of the show was each of the characters carving out their own little place in the world and working on themselves and their relationships with each other. identity, and figuring out what you want from life was always such a strong theme. everybody kind of found their something over season 3… and then they lose it all and die. what a message.

Leaving the horrendous ending and cgi across the season aside, reducing key characters like klaus and luther to absolute jokes and stripping them of all their development was just so fucking painful to watch. To say I was upset is an understatement. The first 2 episodes are more or less okay compared to the rest of the season and by the time Lila and Five thing happened I was just screaming at the screen. And the fact that we've known for a while that this would be the final season only makes it worse, because all of these were choices that weren't rushed. @@flexhead The Force, the Jedi Order, and the Sith, mostly. There's an interview with the showrunner where she explains a lot of her motives behind certain characters, scenes and themes in her show. She wanted to portray the Dark Side as freedom to be who you are, in contrast to the Jedi being a religious institution with strict rules where that's not possible. A character turning to the Dark Side and literally murdering someone is meant to be viewed as a moment of victory for that character. But that's not how the Force works! (insert Han Solo meme here). The Dark Side is a corruption that will eat your soul, basically. It will always lead to suffering, never freedom.

Due to the final season being truncated, it was extremely rushed. Characters like Klaus and Allison were underutilsed, others, like Five and Lila, were written so out of character, and the ending renders the entire show pointless. Pains me to see Umbrella Academy on this list even though I agree that S4 was absolute dogshit. The season killed the fandom so quickly, it's remarkable (and super sad for those of us who were invested in the characters and their journey). What a waste of an otherwise great show.
Would love to see a deep dive from you at some point, TUA fits right in with other shows you've covered that were ruined by their show runners.
(Like, I'm not kidding. Steve Blackman literally said in interviews pre release of S4 that he absolutely expected "some fans" to dislike the "big swings" he'd gone for this season. He said he was looking forward to the feedback and then proceeded to delete even slightly negative comments and to block tons of people on Instagram. We also found out that they scrapped like two weeks of filming despite supposed budget cuts and the shorter season order, they deleted scenes that would have actually added to/completed character arcs, and "did not have time" to answer some very important questions like what happened to Sloane, despite wasting so much time on unnecessary scenes that could have easily been cut instead. Truly baffling decisions were made in the production of this season, none of which were good.)

I literally hate steve blackman so much. There's a lot i hated about s4 of tua but five and lila's relationship? Disgusting as fuck. Why can't people enjoy platonic relationships? Five and Lila's dynamic is so good. The constant bickering but recognising that at the end of the day, they are family is great! The fact that they do wanna kill eachother sometimes but their love for Diego holds them back. And i particularly blame Steve for this because in an interview he said that Aidan (five's actor) was already 18/19 so it was okay for lila and five to be together, and that lila has always loved five. He basically discarded all the writing for the previous seasons (2 and 3, where they develop lila and diego's relationship), the creepy age gap of the actors AND the characters, the fact that Five literally killed Lila's biological parents causing 'the handler' to adopt her and take her childhood away by training her to be an assassin, Lila's relationship with Diego and her kids, Fives relationship with Diego, Five's feelings towards Delores. ALL OF THIS just so they could market Aidan as a love interest.

While the movies failed at being faithful to the books, the series is a little more faithfull, the issue is that all the things that made the book great, like all the iconic moments were changed into boring scenes. Instead of following percy on this journey and discovering this new world and rules WITH him, he somehow already knows everything and the problems that appear are solved in the most boring ways(some are even solved off screen) instead of just following what the book did and make them the iconic scenes we all know and love, they decide to change it and turn it into something so unnecessarily boring. the monsters are the same, and the plot supposely is the same, but the way that they do it is not. 100% agree with your Star Wars rant, word for word. The Acolyte was also my breaking point, although I was already dropping Star Wars media left and right by then. Didn't watch Boba Fett, stopped Mandalorian after season 2, Kenobi was a MASSIVE disappointment that I tried to watch but couldn't go past a few episodes. Ahsoka's only good moments were callbacks to better shows (which is essentially what the whole of Star Wars has turned into). Heck, I recently dropped the game Jedi Survivor because I couldn't care less about these characters and this obsession with this narrow time period in a universe that should have millennia of stories to tell.
I miss Knights of the Old Republic. I miss Clone Wars. I miss the Yuuzhan Vong and the Infinite Empire. Damn, I even miss the prequels, at least those movies were trying something new.
Star Wars today is just nostalgia bait, with no substance whatsoever. Disney can do something good once in a while, but it's like they say: even a broken clock is right twice a day.
There's very little good buried in a sea of disappointment. And I'm tired, chief.
(It also pisses me off that disliking Star Wars nowadays puts me adjacent to those neckbeards who've never seen a woman in their entire life and every time I criticize something about the franchise I gotta preface it with "I'm not talking about the casting, I'm not racist.")

The most frustrating thing about Acolyte is that it could have been a cool show. I actually like the idea about a show focusing the origin of the Sith and it was cool seeing a show not having to rely on the Skywalkers for its narrative like Andor.
But instead, it just is a textbook example on how not to write a tv show. Nothing is well written. The dialogue is awful. The show looks so cheap. Nothing is consistent. No character is likable other than Master Sol. And the blatant levels of hypocrisy in regard to its characters is insanely frustrating, especially when it comes to the twins and what happened to their mother.

Groups of writers work on these things, than people show up on stage and do their thing, than there's editing and at no point does anyone pause and think 'wait, this is embarrassing'? I was so shocked that you included The Umbrella Academy in your list. As someone who has been watching the show since after season 2 was released, it has been one of my favorite shows in a long time. But when Season 3 was released, it was when I realized that the show was starting to become so bad, with the choice to make Allison sexually assault Luther and Luther instantly forgiving her for that felt so out of left field. However I was willing to wait for Season 4 as it was the final season. And holy shit, it was so atrocious that it somehow made Season 3 look better in comparison. From the character assasinations, the plot holes to the inconsistencies of the lore was so jarring to witness as a whole. There were so many unanswered questions than answered ones in general.
I'm still bitter over the fact that The Umbrella Academy ended with the worst final season that I have seen as of now. Steve Blackman wasted this show's potential and ruined the season for the fandom.

The only part of the video I disagreed with was the part where you were criticizing people for being exhausted with WOKE Hollywood & their non-stop racial & gender pandering. I’m a black woman & it’s not as simple as “There are black or gay people in this. I hate it. Let me go complain.” There are plenty of projects with mostly black casts or queer people that I adore. I love your channel but what you said was an oversimplification of the issue that implies that people who have these criticisms of Hollywood are racist or dumb. Sure, some people might be but I don’t think that’s the case for the majority of fans. The issue is not that we are racist or silly but that people like me can immediately recognize when we are being politically pandered to through a project versus genuine attempts at entertaining fans or telling a moving story that positively impacts people of all races, backgrounds & political sides, like Hollywood used to do in prior decades. Most fans of film can tell when the establishment messages are the priority over a good story & characters. The Hollywood of today seems to push activism through an over-saturation of very selective casting. And the thing is, they aren’t good at it. They constantly attempt to push their political messages about diversity, LGBT activism & feminism, only to fall flat on their faces every time. We’ve seen how when they prioritize being woke, they end up with things like a girl boss over a strong female character, for instance. Or they end up with embarrassing woke writing or story choices that couldn’t be more transparent or eye-rolling to the audience. Or for example, they end up with projects where they’ve race swapped most characters for “diversity” sake but made little to no effort at making the world they are in & what we know about that world or its characters make sense AT ALL. It’s all so insulting. And that’s because we know the entire point was the race of the casting & not the characters or story. And what makes it all worse is that Hollywood’s attempt at diversity casting is disingenuous & forced since we all know Disney & other studios will remove black & LGBT cast members from their posters & trailers in China & other places globally in a heartbeat if it means losing any money whatsoever. So no one is even buying their diversity messaging. Hollywood needs to go back to just entertaining fans & audiences…. And if some of those projects just so happen to include a lot of people of color or LGBT members, great. But fans are tired & not racist for wanting to watch things to escape the real world stresses & political BS, only to be flooded with more of it in our entertainment non-stop by a disingenuous Hollywood who couldn’t be more obvious & blatant in the messages they are trying to push. It’s not that politics can’t be a theme at all in your movie or show but Hollywood should know that TRUE art makes audiences think, political propaganda makes audiences feel preached at. And what Hollywood is currently doing, for the most part, is political propaganda, not art. So until they figure that out, they need to just relax on the woke messaging. It’s a turn off. Other than that, I agreed with your list.

Talking seriously, the first season of The Umbrella Academy had so, so much potential. They had good actors and a decent original source, comfortable budget that helped them getting amazing CGI and soundtrack, and overall one of the best productions I've seen from any streaming platform.
But even in that season, we were able to see some cracks on the script that left questions in the air, and I also believe that the tone of the TV show could've been a little darker to make the comedy and drama moments stand out some more. I was hoping they did that with the second season, but we already know what happened 😢
