It's really cool that Harley lets you work and film in their shop area. Hell yeah!
Its cool that he lets Harley work with him and films it which further pushes their brand
~advertising~ . harley spends a LOT of money on it.. a LOT.. and passes the cost on to you! enjoy the added value!
That’s how companies work 🤷♂️
Just get franchise permission. not Harley 's
Harley the company has been awesome to work with. Appilachain as a dealer has also been awesome to with!
I think its amazing that they have managed to increase the reliability of a stock bike, whilst quadruppling horsepower!
Wish I could like this comment twice🤙
Hahahaaa !!!
Only time will tell, it's still a Harley
@@The_Bearded_Mechanic...You wish you could like it once.
Poor fool doesn't know the reliability of a motorcycle when a chain comes off the sprockets.
@@ballockybill2277....Google wants me to translate that to English!
How screwed are we when programming can't handle LAUGHTER?
That O with the two dots on top, is an Ö. (The 'Ohlins' are really Öhlins (Swedish.) It's called an "Umlaut" (German). 'Um' means 'changed'; 'Laut' means 'sound'. The 2 dots change the sound of the O into Ö. The Ö sounds like the 'u' in 'curve' or 'hurt' or the 'Ea' in 'Earth'.
Yes , we're all aware of what an umlaut is .. Craig is from rural Pennsylvania, so we cut him some slack when he mispronounces words or misspeaks ...
ÖH
Or like "o" in "öyster".
You know, like the Blue Öyster Cult.
I have a couple Harleys in my garage that I've been meaning to rebuild for almost a decade and your videos motivated me to start
keep up the great videos man!!! I don't ride but I fly planes and the mechanic portion of your videos really want be to start riding! Your editing and all around video quality has skyrocketed In the past few weeks, keep it up!
That’s awesome! I fly aeroplanes too
No way??? What you fly?
Currently going to AMT school to be an aircraft technician (I’m 18)
A man of many talents I see lol thats awesome!@@The_Bearded_Mechanic
You know a channel is great when it has crossover viewers
Amazing how you guys upgrade this motorcycle in one take is so much one can learn by watching you guys the amount of knowledge you have is second to none 👍
Neato.
You tell Half Truths and get likes and a heart from the guy who has honed his skills feeding farm animals.
The bike isn't Done.
They didn't shop for the right parts, the new parts required the alteration of painted parts, longer brake lines, and they Cross-Threaded Bolts while doing it.
I think you need a new yard stick to measure "knowledge."
You should know that "fun wrenching" is simply taking apart what someone else just put together, to spec, and making it worse.
Straight line stability doesn't apply differently to a drag strip and a highway.
Overtightening the bearings in a steering assembly is the redneck version of adding a Steering Damper.
Had enough knowledge?
"Don't need front brakes they just slow you down"
Words of wisdom right there
Here's the deal boys. You guys always have clean hands and I look like I'm biracial from the forearm down whenever I work on anything. I really like your channel too. I wrench on everything I own and you have given me a ton of little tid bits of information and techniques I have already implemented. Thanks fellas.
Nice seeing you Craig working on a new bike and not on older bikes. Fresh!
It's rare to find the words Harley and power used in the same sentence. Lol. Great videos, really enjoy them.
$20,000 more dollars and this Harley will have the HP and handling performance of a stock Japanese competitor. 👍🏼 cool cool cool.
Well, not quite to H2 levels, but getting closer with the additional $20k. Nothing like spending $75k to get lesser performance than a $20k H2.
I mean even a $5K K6 GSXR has 180hp 🤷🏼♂️ it’s like buying a Dodge Caravan and then spending 3X it’s value to get the HP of a stock 5.0L Mustang. HP obsessed Harley guys are a strange animal.
@@dbk81 Like hotrodders and grassroots racers have been doing for decades? Crazy ain't it?
But the japanese bikes wont be as comfortable riding across the country.
Appalachian Harley Davidson that’s the closest one to me love that place always great customer service
I got BST wheels in my bike. I daily my bike and many high way miles. The only thing I noticed is low speed turns was more "unstable" but honestly just allowed for faster turning. Got use to it after 2 days. On the freeway I put my feet up and lean back bike just as stable.
as an ex mechanic i really like the way 2 mechanics who know their stuff talk in a sort of shorthand that sounds iffy but does in fact have a massive knowledge behind it
Nice to se you at Appalachian HD. I taught several MSF courses there in the past. GREAT bunch of people there! You are making some awesome videos!!
Can't wait to see it done and on the track. Love the new wheels. Great job guy's. Keep up the great work and stay safe.
I saw this bike in person at Daytona bike week this year. Met Shawn, Craig and the team. Awesome bike and great guys all around. I even got a sticker which lives in my toolbox for Harley mechanics.
Now my serious comment, it's always enjoyable to looking at these videos on a friday, Weekend starting the right way. :3 thank you Craig :D
Did your weekend project run into Monday, too?
Love the chemistry between Brandon and Craig. Yall could be brothers or somethin.
Oh man, this is awesome. Love the technical explanation and the just "feel good" vibe. Hah that I just typed "vibe". But this is just damn spot on motorcycle goodness! Craig and Dan, go Bearded Mechanic, keep moving forward! Can't wait to see what's next!
I watch Craigs videos first, knowing it's bike work not a shop tour! 🤣
@leviathanr53 Do his Bible verses trigger you? 🤣
Agree with Craig, when your used to handling weights all day you get used to them, I used to work in a bakery for a few years so was used to ounces through to over 100lbs.
If you don't torque the fork pinch bolts uniformly (especially the lowers), you'll get a wallowy front end. You have to go back and forth on them lower pinch bolts until they both match. That's for the internet...not the two mechanics shown.
I live in San Bernardino county. Recently bought my first Harley Davidson, I’m gonna check them out. Thanks for the tip 👍🏼
I've been sitting with a wheel and new tyre half mounted because i cannot get the bead to pop with my compressor. Gonna try the tip with the valve removed later, thanks Craig
Do it! Let me know how you make out. Not all air chucks will work without the valve core, just a heads up👍
Song is WEARETHEGOOD - Outrun. Thanks for sharing, great video as always 🙂
good to see your channel going strong man!.
Grate video really enjoyed the honesty and how things played out keep up the good work
I don’t know what it is but your videos are super addicting to watch.
I bought those needle nose pliers about 1.5 years ago when they first came out, not because of the "nickle trick", but because of the slip joint feature
Just find small rubber push in plugs to put into the original holes on the side. Kind of like a rubber grommet but solid. They sell them in multi-packs of different sizes.
Ordering more parts to get it ready, that’s fair.
a few scillia usually stay stuck to the pelt of the tire. the tire uses them for locomotion in the wild.
Ö is a Swedish letter, the same letter as in Öhlins which is a Swedish brand. Öhlin is also a common surname so it's quite reasonable to think that the founder of Öhlins had Öhlin as surname. The prononciation is similar to the English word burn with a slight vowel modulation. Just move your larynx up a little bit and Bob's your uncle. Umlaut is a German word that in function reminds of vowel modulation. The pronunciation of two vowels next to each other are affected by the other one, It's been almost 40 years and that's what I remember.
Like all custom builds you'll run into issues and have to make more custom parts...It's the nature of the beast. I do hope that you weld up those holes in the nacelle though, they're shocking! Really enjoyed this video Craig, best one yet. BTW I'm working on my own tuning project at the moment and it's going to make the Harley look a bit limp wristed., mind you I am starting of with 2.3 Litres to start off with! It'll be a turbo charged Triumph Rocket III.
@kevintaylor31 that is impressive the Rocket 3 is a moster of a bike to start with. Love to see how it turns out. Good luck fella
Love the video brother!! Brandon is a Harley genius.
I really enjoy watching this channel and Bikes and Beards because no matter what goes wrong NO profanity!
I love the fact that you look more like a mechanic in there than the "actual" mechanics 😅 Great video!
Nice clean, bright shop.
Should put a Speed dealer rear swing arm. Better and light swing arm with the axle adjustment issue fixed all in one go.
The good feeling doing all this work on this bike is.......................................at the end of it all, someone else's money was spent !!
I am still waiting for that 180mph run…
Every time you modify something there's always problems 😜👍👍👍✌️
GREAT Extension of the Video from B & B - WOW.. Nice
"It smells fast"! Like when an old Mopar running unleaded drives by!
All my co workers have those plyers and they work so good I even did pull ups using them to grab
Perfect match! Carbon wheels and Shinko tyres ... a dream come true! :)
Why the slick in the front? You don't get them on temperature beside the track ...
I kinda feel like using the corner of the tips of the grippy part of the pliers would have more overhang for them thin lips on the nickle.
This is a valuable lesson in patience.
I had that type of chain tensioner on my 1974 Kawasaki 400 2 cylinder 4 stroke street bike. Old school
I cant believe that HD uses the same style chain tensioner as the Tomos APN6 😆
That's a aftermarket tensioner all the new HD have belt drive and don't use that tensioner . My 86 HD FLHT has belt drive . With this engine making 260 hp no way in hell is a belt going to stay on it ever . I remember in the 80s some guys with custom built bikes with the Evolution engines were modifying the engines to make much more power than stock and the weak link was always the belt on them until the manufacturers of the belts be it goodyear or who ever started making them out of a mix of kevlar and rubber to strengthen them more and even then belts would still break because they aren't that wide like a belt drive primary belt is so a chain is the way to go for a final drive on this .The early HD shovel head big twin bikes had automatic chain oilers on them and they usually either over oiled the chain or under oiled them so most that owned these bikes would shut them off and plug the oiler tube off and just by a thick chain oil and oil their own chains on those . Starting in the late 70s into the very early 80s the HD shovel head bikes started to come equipped with belt drive final drives on them instead of chains because they were quieter and no oil spray coming off the chain kept the bike cleaner with less maintenance involved . In the early days of motorcycles they primarily used belt drives on them for the primary and secondary drives once transmissions were developed but eventually when progress came along to be able to make a hardened steel drive chain for both primary and secondary drives that changed everything as far as reliability and maintenance but eventually as technology improved the belt came back on some bikes while others used a chain or drive shaft like BMW had for years which the Japanese bike makers started to make shaft drive bikes as well .
Something to look forward to. A part 2! Can't wait!
It's important to me that Craig and Brandon are friends off camera
Awesome video. Thanks guys.
Hey, man!
Real good content and great format!!!
Loving the dynamics between you two.
Not sure you work together often, and if not you might want to give it a go as it definitely works. 👍🏽
@vicepride2568...The challenge isn't getting Mechanics to work well together.
It's getting the customers, management, engineers, and Corporate types to see things Logically, like Mechanics do.
This machine now guzzles Race Gas (smells fast) and will never see the open road again, unless from a trailer. 😢
Quite the compromise for a new born machine that Harley has made multiple compromises to keep it a Highway Lazy-Boy.
If you notice in the video they were using the side of the plyers not in the center of the jaws but on the edges of the jaws by coming at an angle. If a bolt comes loose it is because you used the wrong Loctite adhesive on the bolt. Put black rubber plugs in the holes. Never seen again. I hope you bled the rear calipers before you put on the saddle bags.
Thanks guys enjoyed that.
Love the Friday release times . I’m newly disabled and it’s horrible boring and I’m in non stop pain yay lol . I watch a lot of videos and look forward to these ones
Dude.
You actually dont understand how much I love forward to your videos.
You're a wealth of knowledge and yet you have the integrity to not just acknowledge it. But also expose yourself for being human....
It's wonderful watching authenticity and tenacity.
The "Ö" in Öhlins is the last letter in the Swedish alphabet. It is pronounced like the vowel sound in "bird". Thanks for this episode! Great as usual!
They used the corner of the pliers to pick it up. You tried to use to front end.
A little artistic skullduggery with a black permanent marker can make those wallered out holes a bit less noticeable.
Best!
Great video! That thing is gonna be MEAN 🔥
Great vid. Beyond educational!!👍👍
Nothing like coming home from surgery and watching a good video from Craig
Cool content, just glad I found a 2013 low mileage raider, $ 6300.00, and a sweet 08 VTX, $5500.00.They are plenty fast for me. I am just a rice burner cheapie. Amazing the money youtube can make you.
Hey there. Just wanted to say I love your channel. I find it extremely entertaining and helpful. I have an issue with my road king and I was wondering if you had a moment, maybe I could bounce some ideas off of you. I’m still learning mechanics and I’m not very familiar with EFI as most of the bikes I’ve worked on were carbureted. If not it’s cool. Sure I’m. Or the only asking. Anyway, still love the channel and can’t wait for your next video.
Keep up the great vids Craig 👍🏻
As a Swede, I am proud that you mount ÖHLINS Greg. They are the best shock absorbers. But you have to practice pronouncing ÖHLINS😁🇸🇪. Awesome video as always💯🏍
Is it supposed to be pronounced like "OOhlins" or "Owlins"?
No, none of them. If you press your lips together, like when you kiss someone. Then you push the air out. Then maybe it will be an Ö. Difficult to explain in a good way.🤔
@@stefanbergvall3268 I tried it. I'm starting to think us Americans are missing some mouth and throat muscles, the rest of the world has. We have some vocal deficits or something.
Haha, keep practice👍
Yes, you´re right, Ä Ö Ü is called "Umlaute" or "Umlaut" if it´s a single one. It´s because of the way you pronounce them and the sound (ein Laut) that surrounds (umgeben) the letter. :D
Sadly, american bikes are pretty expensiv in germany (at least for me), but watching you and your crew enjoying what your doing is a good alternative. 🥰
Keep it up and stay as you are.
Greets from germany ✌
You spelled overpriced wrong.
Tire Teets is a great name. I called them sprues, but I guess that they're also called vent spews.
Fill those tires with helium to enhance the weight reduction effect!
Tyre teets are "chicken strips". You can tell how brave the rider is in the corners by seeing if they have worn them all off. 😊
That’s true.
And the braver the rider is- the less likely he will still be riding as he ‘matures’ 😆
Ha ha
Like some other things in life, for every one change you make you have to change seven other things.
I can see that Brandon, since he is more often on youtube, he has lost some weight and worked out. Keep up man! Best regards Craig, great video!
Craig searches the shop for a Harley with a Modern Wheel and Brake combination at 3:15.
Finds a Dual Sport with spoked wheels and tries to discuss the torquing effect of brakes on the verticle axis.
Poor Craig, if he had only been in ANY other motorcycle shop, he'd have plenty of apt examples to choose from.
Heck, if HD still supported Buell, he'd be golden.
Slick front should do great on the road lol no slick on the rear and if the tread on the font slows it down that much u night need nitrous to spool the turbo lol
You two are like peas in a pod. I little nauseating but can't stop watching the chemistry
Thank you
Don't know the origin of the word, but on the V-22 tiltrotor military "helicopter/airplane" the components that hold the engines and rotor blades (that rotate from off the nose to more than 90 degrees overhead) are called Nacelles.
no craig, i didnt not have as much FUN as you did making it. I, in fact, had way more fun watching the video than you did making it
Love you turning junk into treasure😂🎉good observation on the parachute😅
I just have to say, I truly loved watching this video. It's different. And it's good. I love all of your videos, but this one has a different feel. I love them all though! And I love you and more importantly, Jesus loves you and He desires a personal relationship with you! Seek Him! Have a blessed day/ night you guys! ❤😁
I have 2 Harleys but when it comes to high hp I wonder why bother. For high hp and decent handling I have a tuned B-king, the supercharger kit I'm fitting will give it 350hp.
Holy crap, you could pull a 30’ travel trailer!
$80,000 grand? That's $1 a part at least. That's a complicated build. I'll stick with my 70's Honda's. Cheers.
Me too. My ‘75 400-4 is my sweetest love.
Feed bag math is a real thing! Lol I feel I can guess weights as good as Craig with all the feed bags I’ve lifted my whole life. Lol
CF wheels are defo not 'bling' Best upgrade usually.
Ahhhh you mean. You upgraded to what most bikes already come with haha😂. Man I love Harley. Or not
Great episode. Looking forward to the next one 🕜
Awesome video! Hiawatha Nacelle indeed.
lol about the Umlaut.
I originaly found y'all from bikes and beards ( I actually live next to the SRK cycles shop in PA)
2:35 "well who is riding shaun right? its fine" lmao
What a nice pair of blokes.
Random fact about why the bolts you said are single use... they're "torque to yield" bolts meaning the first time they're torqued they stretch a little so they'll never torque properly again. Or at least thats what they say but red lock tight usually fixes that problem 😂
So you can set your vavle tension......😅😅😅 blooper reel, great stuff!!!!!
“a bag of chicken feed” is my new standard for weights and measure 🤣😃
Ahh swedish quality suspension!👍🏻
When do we get to see more of this bike?
You could guess people's weight for money at a carnival if this UA-cam thing doesn't work out...😂😂 no chance of that happening ❤ it could be a side hustle 😊 Excellent video, look forward to them every Friday 😀 👍
It looks like an emergency spare car tire, in that still photo, to answer the proposed question.😅
