Kai, Thanks for all your help!!! Awesome treatment for my Hip Flexor pain (specifically the Medial compartment of thigh area) - the best video I have found on UA-cam!!! FYI: my injury happened last week during a 12 mile run!!! Luckily, I actually have a medicine ball to effectively treat the trigger points in the area. Other videos recommend foam rollers that don't work. I appreciate your clear and to the point explanation in addressing the problem. I will certainly follow you when other injury issues arise.
You are awesome! Keep up the great work! My hip flexor pain is getting better remarkably fast with your Myofascial Release therapy. I cannot wait to get back on the roads running again. I'm totally into doing my Physical Therapy treatments in the privacy of my home.
I am so happy I came across your page. I have a race coming up in 3 weeks and I pulled my groin muscle 2 weeks ago. I an going to try this exercise and hope that I don't have to pull out of my race. Thanks.
Wow!! This really helped me thank you so much. I have been struggling with hip labral tear and all my hip and groin muscles have tightened up as I’ve been trying to walk and stop my hip pain. Post surgery 4 weeks back and physio has been massaging the groin muscles but by my next visit It’s tight again. This has really helped me in between the physio visits and my surgery recovery.
Thank You Kai !.!.! 'Been in pain mgmt, massage and treatments for years, due to an accident... have had adductor "release" (which I don't recommend), hip replacement, dry needle, etc - and this simple technique is better than anything I have tried... now, for full disclosure, I do have some permanent nerve damage in that "area" due to scrambling my hash when the femur was shattered... but ANYTHING that offers even temporary relief is a win for me... and yes, it is uncomfortable - but not nearly as bad as the discomfort without using this technique. Again, thank you very much...
I have been in unbearable pain the entire day due to groin strain. over the counter meds have proved useless and I took recourse to scotch. then I saw this video and tried the prescribed movement albeit with a foam roller. I'm having my first real hope of escaping this mindkilling pain. in a totally agape way, I love you, Kai wheeler. God bless you,
I spent three months hoping a collection of muscle/tendon strains in my hip/groin would go away if I stopped running, but the problems didn't help. Stretching like the one you show in this video and some of your others with the lacrosse ball helped almost immediately however. Thank you very much.
I am a massage therapist and along with encouraging my clients to roll out their adductors on their own, I also feel perfectly comfortable working the area as long as it's within their boundaries. A well-trained massage therapist should be able to effectively work the adductors and their attachments. It's all about good communication and empowerment :)
Wow, this was painful as I did it, but it immediately helped. It is much easier to work with a medicine ball over a foam roller. I will definitely keep up with this, thank you for posting this video!
Wow I am so glad I finally found this video tried at the gym straight after watching this & yes it hurt but I have been in so much pain for over 6 years, I was only doing the front & back on my legs with a roller never thought of doing the inside of my leg.
Hi Kai, I was just blessed to find your site; thank you, I am most grateful. I will be trying this exercise for the groin area which has been extremely tight due to my sciatic issues. I see that I can expect some pain. Do you know how long it could take for this area to stretch? I have been in piano for so long, I need to understand how long I should do it, realistically and if I could cause more problems. Thanks.
i will definitely try this today. i am always having right hip joint pain. been to the doc about it but they found nothing. feels like my actual joint being aggravated.
... And just as importantly, she knows her stuff. Just picked up an e-book called "Power of Posture," and it's nice to be able to find videos like this one to go along with the SMR photos in the book.
Immediate effect thank you Kai. Especially after changing to a softer medicine ball. Just resting adductors on a hard ball was too painful. A bent leg helps. I am more positive now of a solution to my 2-year struggle with groin pain. My Physio's suggestion of exercycling I hope/think is also helping. Regards Neil
Thank you for the video it first it was my quad and hip flexor and I couldn't track this down for a while I determined it wasn't a hippie shoe so far up into my groin however. Very strange place for an injury
Hello Kai, I have enjoyed your instruction on Myofascial Release. I bought a Lacross ball and now I want to buy a medicine ball. What brand of medicine ball are you using? Thanks for everything!
Thanks for your video. It gives me hope. I didn't have medicine ball so I tried it with a soccer ball. Maybe not the best substitute? I found it really hard on my shoulder, which is also injured. I will keep at it though.
Wow I am shocked just tried this technique with a basketball and it did hurt, but the pain went away instantly after five minutes. I been dealing with this pain for 6 years. God bless you my dear!
Thank you for sharing your experience with me! I am glad the technique was effective for you. I will let people know they can also use a basketball. :)
@Kai Simon Hi Kai thanks for your informational videos. I have been doing the piriformis as well as glute medius release and it helps with my si joint pain. Can the adductor release be done with a lacrosse ball or a volley ball?
Hai Kai. I regularly cramp high up, I think in the adductor magnus. I had a hip replacement 5 years ago. What do you think might cause the cramps, and would the myofascial release ease them. Thank you
I like using the medicine ball better than the roller. It is easier to do this exercise with the bigger object, for me, at least. Again a fine, helpful video.
Have just smashed it kicking a ball, really painful. Don't have a medicine ball at home, but presumably a basketball or football would work as long as you can feel it and chase the pain?
I'm gonna try it! I am a student, so I sit a lot, but my campus also has a lot of stairs, so I do a lot of walking back and forth. I can't even sit cross-legged anymore because it's gotten so bad. :( I hope this works!
I pulled my groin a couple of years back playing soccer and stopped playing until last week. It has always been more tender if I for instance squeeze a Bender ball between my legs using more pressure with my right leg. I was wondering if this exercise will help to strengthen my groin area? I hope you understand what I mean? Thanks! :-)
Why does my groin area make a cracking noise? Should I be worried? It's a funny scary feeling...I feel like one day something is just going to go out of place!! Any advice please!

Thank you Kai, what is the name of the ball?
wow this has been by far more effective for my sore adductor than anything else thanks so much!!
I really appreciate the way you demonstrate and explain the process to address these problem areas. Keep up the good work!
"Chase the pain" - Best motto ever.
Also, people truly don't understand how crucial this is to mobility and optimal health.

Just wanted to say your videos are incredible, easy to follow, and from one trainer to another I wish you endless success

What went bad after the release of the adductor tendon?
I have been in unbearable pain the entire day due to groin strain. over the counter meds have proved useless and I took recourse to scotch. then I saw this video and tried the prescribed movement albeit with a foam roller. Thank you Kai. You are awesome and super helpful
Thank you. I feel better already, and I've had this pain for a while.
Thank you for the groin hip video,
I haven't tried it yet but I will, been having pain for a few days, about a week, thanks again.
Thanks for this - well demonstrated and easy to follow.
I just tried this and it worked amazingly well. I was beginning to think my left hip was arthritic and something I'd have to live with. Thanks Kai
Hello! Was it like a pain in the inside of your hip? Like a general numbness?

sure did help!! I did it on the corner of the desk-- easier for me than to get on the floor!
really help had a soccer game and got injured thanks very much
One I would have not thought of. I have tried a number of stretches which don't seem to be working. Will let you know in a couple of weeks!
This was very helpful for me! Thanks Kai!
i will definitely try this today. i am always having right hip joint pain. been to the doc about it but they found nothing. feels like my actual joint being aggravated.
Thankyou, I'll try that and see how I get on!
thanks kai. This helped immensely

Thanks much. Very helpful. It's really painful to start.
Forgot to ask . . . is there a particular weight for the medicine ball for the groin area?
Thanks!
I used the soccer ball and it works well. Thanks for sharing the video.
Great video Kai, Thanks!

Thanks Kai!!!
Wonderful Information!!!!! Thank You Very Much!!!!!!
I am glad you found the information helpful. Thank you for taking the time to comment.
Take care!
how big and heavy is that medicine ball?
Can I do this with a tennis ball
Thanks for your video. It gives me hope. I didn't have medicine ball so I tried it with a soccer ball. Maybe not the best substitute? I found it really hard on my shoulder, which is also injured. I will keep at it though.
Thanks for the awesome info. Subscribed!
Please advise if a foam roller would work as well?
Yes, if you do not have access to a lacrosse ball, a foam roller can also be effective. The ball is just a little harder Hope this helps! :)
Amazing content keep growing !!!!
What to do with your package? It always gets in the way even when I wear tight briefs
Wow I am shocked just tried this technique with a basketball and it did hurt, but the pain went away instantly after five minutes. I been dealing with this pain for 6 years. God bless you my dear!

This is good info and solution.
How soon after an injury should you start this?
how long must we stay on the point that pains us?
Hai Kai. I regularly cramp high up, I think in the adductor magnus. I had a hip replacement 5 years ago. What do you think might cause the cramps, and would the myofascial release ease them. Thank you
Where can I get the ball
Anywhere Amazon Walmart probably even use a basketball although a volleyball would be softer
Should u warm up first? On a bike for example?
this works with basketball too?
OMG!!!!! Holy crap that hurts. Thank you so much!!
Excellent work out, agony the first few times but abductors feeling a lot better now.
I like using the medicine ball better than the roller. It is easier to do this exercise with the bigger object, for me, at least. Again a fine, helpful video.
what is a trigger point? is that a place that hurts? Thanks
en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Myofascial_trigger_point
Have just smashed it kicking a ball, really painful. Don't have a medicine ball at home, but presumably a basketball or football would work as long as you can feel it and chase the pain?
Isn't this considered more trigger point or static pressure therapy? Myofascial release is more like skin rolling and that.
(Massage Therapy Student)
How many times should I do this in a day? Please respond soon.
This seems to be working so far. I have it deep so I have to break it up into several days of grinding it out.
Thanks it awesome really helps
