I like these headphones however I find them to be lacking in treble. The midbass also bothered me but I just fixed it with EQ very easily. I just wish the highs were more crisp, they don't really work for pop, rap. For more "analogue" music genres like classical, 80s pop, shoegaze, indie rock etc they work very well tho.
You could smash the bluetooth porta pros or ksc35 onto this headband. :D Whenever I get these, if I like the headband more than Porta Pros, I'll def do it.
Absolutely! Im probably going to shoot a short video playing around with swap ability of these Koss headphones. Def looking to find a new home for the ksc75 drivers
@@UtmostCoinActually I was trying to find out also. I had a pair. They were popular in the mid/late nineties into the mid 2000's. They had a thicker metal band with a square shaped ear pad similar to the ear pad on the Koss. They had pretty good sound. I tried looking them up to no avail. If I get any info I'll let you know.
Nice review man. I've added mmcx connectors to mine and have them on a Shanling mw200 Bluetooth neckband using a parts express headband making then even lighter! They live on my head all day every day ha ha How does the sound compare to the ksc35 drivers? I've always wondered if they used the same drivers..
Thanks for spending time to check it out! I wish I was bold as you to mod stuff like that! I'm pretty certain that the KSC35s are the same driver as the KPH40i however the execution is different because the KSC35 is bluetooth without any advanced codecs while the KPH40s have better foam and has a cable option for a dac so you get more power and consistency out of it. To me the KPH40s sound better across all the music I listen to and worlds more comfortable.
I got these a couple of days ago, and I'm disappointed. I have a pair of KSC75s attached to a £3 headband, and they blow me away every time I use them, not that they're the best headphones I have, but the performance for the price is unbelievable. The 75s can sound a little bright sometimes, good for gaming but not always for music, so I decided to try these KPH40s (and they look so much cooler), however the '40s just sound like a cheap pair of headphones to me, and the headband is less comfortable than the generic one I got from ebay (although it is more secure in positioning).

Appreciate the comprehensive review!
I appreciate you for spending your time to give my video a looksee :)
What about the sound stage which is better ksc75 vs prota pro or kph40
Bang & Olufsen had a band style heaphone set back in the nineties! They were pretty cool!
I wonder what the name was...might be cool to look for a pair to try

I found them! They were called the B &O Form 2 and then they made a Form 2i. Great Headphones!

To be honest Samsung phones sound different from apple phones as well. It’s possible that it might have nothing to do with the dac.
That is very true, however I did notice a difference between 3.5mm and USb c connectors even when using on my pixel pro alone.

I have a pair of these and find that the usbc gets really hot. Does this happen to all of them?
Nahh I haven't had an issue with the USB heating up on any of the Koss headphones yet. What are you plugging them into?
