When the paintwork on the miniature is almost done. If I pause the video. I feel like I have to convince my brain that it's actually a figurine and not some 3D augmented reality graphic. Insane work.
Do you know what I love about your work? In this era of photorealism and incredibly smooth and precise blends, where imperfections are seen as abhorrent in a competitive painting space, you have cemented a painterly, almost impressionistic style of painting, that has bold and exciting brush strokes and textures, and you're blowing the competition away with it. It's a breath of fresh air.
Yep, really creative uses of light and texture that would not appear on a real object, but work perfectly on a mini. His minis really remind me of classic fantasy illustrations.
They should just have a 'Sergio Calvo' award at Golden Demon to give you by default, and give all the regular human beings a chance of winning something.
It's kinda crazy we just get to watch the best of the best at whatever it is. Imagine being able to see DaVinci or Beethoven on UA-cam as they progressed their work.
Before a horse race, if one horse is massively favoured ahead of the rest, the bookmakers will sometimes create a "betting without" market where they completely ignore that horse and take bets as if it's not running. We basically need that with this guy.
Yeah that's the thing, the way his hand moves just makes it all look simple, he also seems to move about the project in a random manner, just flowing where to pain some more
Congratulations! The patience required to slowly build up all those layers and highlights is as much a testament to your skill as the fineness of the painting itself.
Incredible painting skill and patience. May I also ask us to bow our heads to the person who created such a high quality model. Two masters, one masterpiece.
Waw ! Quel résultat ! Quelle patience ! Impressionnant ! Une pièce aboutie au moindre détail près. Bravo. Chapeau l'artiste. Ça donne bien envie d'essayer de se rapprocher modestement de ce niveau.
The majestic value of your art is so inspiring. And so soul crushing. The editing, music, and of course painting is so bespoke and unique. The pride u must feel in your work certainly shows.
Been into Warhammer and 40k since I was a kid. Ive never painted a model or had an army. But I love the art and the stories. It always blows me away the talent painters have within this hobby. Great job mate!
This is one of the most astonishing pieces of artistry i have ever witnessed. And as a fantasy/sci-fi/40k fan it just blew me away. Ive never seen such genuinely lifelike miniatures. Watching you work is a blessing to someone like me that has never been good with a brush. Well deserved. BRAVO!
Its not just painting knowledge. This man understands light, the world and materials around his and transfers that to his artwork very carefully to reflect things at a hyper realistic level. The level of observation in your surroundings is incredible.
An unbelievable artist - not just a mini painter! Each time I think you've finished one part or detail, you add another 3-4 layers...Another well deserved GD.
Your mastery of colour theory, and composition is unparalleled. Fantastic video! Outstanding results! Thanks for making this content. I hope you continue to share.
truly amazing to see how far standards have come over the years. Beautiful work, truly! Respect from an old GW painter and GD honorable mention from many many years ago!
Thank you for sharing this - especially your freehand technique! It's inspiring to see that even if it's not perfect at first it can be cleaned up and come out looking spectacular. Congratulations on your big win!
Passion de la couleur, niveau de contraste et de mise en valeur par la lumière et l'éclat très plaisant: félicitations sincères d'un peintre sur verre. :)+++
Insanity, the colors and your color gradients are awesome and then comes your attention to detail, that's what makes your work so unique, you literally breathe life into your characters
WatchIn this and ur other videos is always something I enjoy. I spam my friend who got me into the WH40K hobby n we both talk about how u did certain parts. Looking at how I started this one I was like “this looks rough” and then seeing the absolute genius of your skill take over n blowing my mind, never fails to impress.
😲 your technique and style. I haven't seen it before, my gosh, its beautiful. The whole video, watching it come to life with the music, got me right in the heart. I hope you have some teaching videos that I'm about to discover.
Year is 40 000, the entire Univers is at War, death is everywhere... But a man refuses to surrender to madness, bringing poetry in a world that Desperatly needs it.
In the first minutes i though that its some sort of joke, but with every minute of the video i have been more and more amazed how wonderful is this painting, great job :)
Ancora sinceri complimenti🏆
My mind is absolutely blown. I can literally FEEL the texture on the ork's ashy elbows through my screen, absolute insanity. Incredible talent, I am super jealous.
Absolutely insane how easy it seems but how difficult it is to paint as you do. I have learnt a lot in a few minutes. Inspiring everyone watching your video.
This is f-ing insane! It is as if you have every colour mapped out in your head already before you start to paint, just filling it in by the numbers and it all comes together in the end! Amazing!
Whats even crazier is that you put these videos out for all to see. That is like a general advertising his strategy and still winning. "I read your book you beautiful bastard!"- General Patton
When I think it can't get any better you go further and further some more. I feel privileged to have witnessed the process that goes into creating such a magnificent work of art. A well deserved reward for a master of his craft, Bravo!
alucino siempre que veo tus videos eres un pedazo de pintor pero de mucha mucha mucha calidad no me canso de enseñarte por hay !!! eres mi fuente de inspiracion
Well deserved my friend, you put a lot of time and effort into that model... it's a gorgeous piece.. thanks for sharing the process.. very creative and informative!
Thank you for another wonderful video, I really appreciate your understanding of light and texture and the way you shoot your process. I hope to have a level of knowledge one day to be able to take one of your classes. Thanks for all the inspiration.
This is truly the most impressive piece of miniature painting I’ve ever watched or seen. I…. Words…. Can’t….. So impressive. Congratulations and well done, beyond inspirational!
I love the balance of decision and randomness with the technique used on the mouth. At the end ( and it appears pretty much everywhere on the diorama ) despite some voluntary randomness, the result is highly controlled and that's what I really like about it
The level of mastery is astounding. Just when i thought there couldn't be any more details... bam! More details. Absolutely incredible work, phenomenal talent. I learned some things just watching this. Thank you for sharing your beautiful work and amazing talent.
Its just unbelievable, imho its the best miniature artist. He understands colours and volumes in a way that my head cant get around it. It’s something to not to understand but to admire, just unreal. Your content is so relaxing and amazing, Keep the amazing work up👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
I don't comment very often, but I must say that is a well-deserved trophy. Is one of the most painstaking, amazingly diligent work of art. Congratulations bro. It's most deserved
Love the rusty orange tones contrasting with the green, because it also contrasts the artifical with the biological matter in the same way. It really gives the diorama a grounded feel because its so thematically consistent, both in color scheme and whats actually being depicted by the models. Its a great and simple starting idea to build upon and prevents the whole thing from becoming too complex. And because the base plan is so straighforward, you can really go all out on the details because they will pop a lot more, like the insane amout of different shades of the orange and green.
Congrats, machote How amorphous blobs of color suddenly become hyperrealistic 3D awesomeness never ceases to amaze me. Reminds me of an Isabel Guerra exposition I visited once
I learned more foundational techniques watching this than I did watching actual tutorial videos. Just watching you paint with no commentary is a tutorial.
i think people who don't paint figurine don't think how this skill is in an other galaxy. I think im not bad at painting figurine and people are amazed by my paint. Me? Im amazed about the experience and skill of Sergio Calvo, its a level so big that i know i will never reach cause i don't have the time for so much experience its just pure art and masteries.
When the paintwork on the miniature is almost done. If I pause the video. I feel like I have to convince my brain that it's actually a figurine and not some 3D augmented reality graphic. Insane work.

My thoughts exactly. Well said, brother.
Yep, really creative uses of light and texture that would not appear on a real object, but work perfectly on a mini. His minis really remind me of classic fantasy illustrations.
Yes, I try to apply elements of this in my painting and video.
Spanish painters are the best
They should just have a 'Sergio Calvo' award at Golden Demon to give you by default, and give all the regular human beings a chance of winning something.
We mere morals stand no chance 😍

As usual, otherworldly. It's absurd that you don't have more subscribers. These videos are just relaxing, inspiring, and surreal.
That’s the best I’ve ever seen…. I mean there’s painting minatures and then there’s painting a painting onto a miniature…
Incredible.
I even have a hard time seeing it's 3D in some shots 😂
Yes! Cool work!
It's almost ridiculous how easy you make your masterpieces look, absolutely incredible work. These video's are an inspiration to us all!
Yeah that's the thing, the way his hand moves just makes it all look simple, he also seems to move about the project in a random manner, just flowing where to pain some more
moto king rob
Congratulations! The patience required to slowly build up all those layers and highlights is as much a testament to your skill as the fineness of the painting itself.
When I was watching the skin painting section, I thought I was watching someone painting an Orc on a canvass. Bravo!
Incredible painting skill and patience. May I also ask us to bow our heads to the person who created such a high quality model. Two masters, one masterpiece.
The way you add depth and detail to things like skin folds and muscle striations is an absolute masterclass

Buy the reaper core skills starter kit! It's perfect to get anyone started with easy tutorial and got me back into Warhammer.
Genuinely thought that was a 2d painting from the thumbnail, not a fully painted minature. You've raised the bar in a big way, amazing stuff!
BRAVO!

Really enjoyed this video, thank you. Im sure I'll revisit it many times as a reference tool and to remind myself not to overpaint my minis.
Super travail je suis vraiment heureu pour ta victoire tu mérite ton golden démon encore bravo 👏
Muy merecido premio, jamas había visto ese dominio de la luz pintando una miniatura, solo en lienzos.
Felicitaciones!

The mock glass reflections are so well done I could not tell it wasn't glass. It looks inlaid with Glass or Gems it's painted so well!
This is not painting a miniature. This is awesome art. You are gifted.Thank you for sharing.

Your skill and colour sense is out of this world! Congrats.

Bruh, this is insane! Bravo and congrats!
Absolutely inspiring work. Could watch this on loop all day.
Incredible, that's bloody awesome. Not a master mini painter, but a Master Painter. Thank you for all your inspirations.
The point of that cigar... had to change pants, wow
Awesome video. It’s a time travel from 1990 to 2024 of miniature painting skills.
Es simplemente alucinante, tu nivel es de otro mundo, felicidades, premio más que merecido.
