the best part is how it pulls out like reg crochet, if you make a mistake - tatting is like you need to call the fire department to undo each knot! (and I say that because I'm well practiced at removing tatting knots!)
Thank you so much for doing a crotatting video. I have had my prim 1mm hook for awhile now and didnt know how to use it. Please do more crotat videos. Maybe a video on how to add crotating as an edging or element in crochet pieces. I want to work towards a tatted scarf but I need a simple pattern to start with.
Hi, I hope to make more cro-tat videos to show more techniques soon. If you are on facebook, there is a link above to join my facebook group where I have links to many tutorials & patterns in the files section.
I hope to make some more soon, life is very hectic here, and I need to find a way to make better videos. It took me like 50 tries for each one, just to create my poorly made ones! If you've joined my facebook group there are many links in the files to many tutorials and designer given patterns. Also, the pictures has an ALBUM with all the books I've found on ebay, that you may not realize can be found for cro-tatting.
That would no longer be CRO-tatting. I'm trying to make sure that cro-tatting does not disappear, if you don't crochet the chains, you are not CRO-tatting, just tatting. And yes, there are several other ways to tat, you may enjoy needle tatting.
are you talking about when I'm crocheting? If you don't already know how to crochet, you will need to watch some videos to learn how, and there will be different ways to hold it. I was not worried about it, because I was not actually teaching crochet itself, but just crocheting to get to the next ring. Sure it would be nice if I had a studio and perfect camera like you see people who are well into videos, but I'm guessing their first videos weren't perfect. So many people are at a professional level, that it's confusing for people to see a person like me struggling to make their first videos, and wondering why they couldn't have done it better. At any rate, if I've finished the ring, I'm just crocheting the chain, no special steps - just getting to the next ring.
Not when you are crocheting but When you are throwing the half hutch loops. I finally figured out what you are doing but it’s really hard to see how you do it. Other than that it’s a very good tutorial.
@@rosemason2071 thank you for the reply. People are used to seeing such great videos from people with actual studios set up to record, that my lame attempts with a clunky camera fall very short. I have to put it behind my elbow to struggle to tape anything, and it takes countless attempts (all day long to get one video) as I don't know until I've made it if I went off camera or the battery died. One video took me 50 tries, and I was shaking by the time I got it done, at the end of the day! BUT, this is the way that RustiKate loads her tatting needle, and there are many videos on youtube of how to load a tatting needle, but I like hers the best, lest fumbly for me. Just remember tatting needles load the same way as cro-tatting, but it is completely different after that!
I have no Idea how to tat, but I find that Cro-tatting is WAY easier to do. thanks for the tutorial!

Well done...great video.
In cro-tatting, isn't there a way to make the chains just like you do when regular tatting?

I don't know if you know this, but when you bend your THUMB, it blocks what you're doing and I can't see the steps.

Way too fast. Can't tell what you're doing at all.
You can slow the videos down in the settings
