I am totally new to tatting and trying to learn to use the shuttle. I tried the needle and did much better but love the way the shuttle looks when working it. I will now get a Celtic shuttle to try. Thank you so much for your beautiful video that is so well done.
I would suggest starting with a regular shuttle first. They are shorter, wider and generally a little easier to control than the celtic. Personally I think the shuttle is easier than needle, once you know how to 'flip your stitch' you'll be flying! But whether you use shuttle or needle is completely personal preference. I will include a link for you on flipping your stitch, you are also welcome to message me if you need any help.

I just realized that I learned to tatt as if I had a Celtic shuttle all along. 😂.
I know a few tatters who use that as their 'normal' technique - use whatever you're comfortable with!😁

Ah so at least you are prepared and now you have time to practice! 😆 A motif is coming..... the videos take some time to make, especially as I do these in and around everything else - but one is on it's way🙂

They are coming, but videos are a LOT of work - they take time to make! I fit making videos in amongst life and working - this one was released yesterday........

Thank you! Handy hands have them, otherwise maybe try Etsy or Ebay? I can give you a couple of stores in Australia but I think the shipping would cost more than the shuttle!

I've been using regular slide method for the first half, then I work "down" for the second half. Hard to describe!
