  • So I spent almost every minute of the last 2 weeks working on this video. I wanted it to explain everything you need to know, but also be concise and not overly long. Some things could've been better on it but I'm pretty happy with it overall. Once again, if you have any questions check the Q&A in the description and then if you can't find your answer drop your question in the comments.

Item Underflow Glitch Guide (for shiny hunters)
    • Pokemon Red/Blue Glitc...
    Q & A
    Q: Can I hunt Mew?
A: Yes, that’s the trainer fly glitch. As stated in the video, those can be hunted. Mew, however cannot transfer to gen 7 under normal circumstances but CAN transfer to gen 2. So your shiny Mew will be stuck in generation 2. Since I’ve gotten many questions on this one, here is a video to further prove it’s possibility • FLOYT! - Shiny Mew in ...
Q: Do I need to use rare candy or can I fight Pokémon to level up instead?
A: You could, but it would take a lot longer to level by battling. It could take over an hour for a single reset if you did that.
Q: Why only send to generations 2 or 7?
A: Those are the only games you can trade to from generation 1.
Q: Why did you have 8 stat possibilities for defense and only 1 for attack in your Mr. Mime and Scyther videos?
A: When virtual console gen 1 first came out they had the shiny DVs swapped for defense and attack. It confused all of us and there was never an explanation why they did this. However when generation 2 virtual console was released they corrected the stats to what the physical copy’s shiny stats were.
Q: Can the Cinnabar coast glitch encounters be shiny hunted too?
A: Unfortunately not, these encounters just act as surf encounters which are locked. And if you fish it’s just the area’s regular Pokémon that appear.
Q: what makes fishing targets difficult?
A: They can be tedious because you might not get a Pokémon to bite for a few attempts in a row, this also drastically adds to the reset’s time. On top of that you’ll need to get the stats for all the Pokémon on the route, at every level they appear, and at level 50 for each. Many will also have an evolving scene you’ll need to sit through when leveling to 50.
Q: Can you shiny hunt the starters?
A: Starters are gift Pokémon. They can be shiny but hunting them isn’t ideal. Since they’re at the start of the game you don’t have rare candies to check for stats. Better options are
Yellow: you get the three starters around cerulean and vermillion at level 10 and you can have rare candies. Much better than at the start.
R/B/Y: you can trainer fly glitch hunt them, which also requires a lot of rare candies

This video is only 6 minutes, yet I now know everything I need if I wanted to start hunting in gen 1. Every other video on this topic is more than 10 minutes. This is why I love these smaller channels who don't shove unnecessary crap down your throat

It’s not because of the channel size, I’m just a to-the-point kind of person overall and don’t fluff up too much

Vulpix Videos thanks, I appreciate it!
Honestly though it’s not the youtubers’ faults entirely. The blame is on UA-cam for their format. By having any video be under 10 minutes UA-cam promotes it less, I get fewer ads therefore less revenue, and since UA-cam isn’t promoting it my channel doesn’t grow much. I know long videos suck but I’ve grown to not judge the people for that. Sorry for the random mini-tangent haha

Tip: If you're aiming for a shiny using a capture/wild encounter method, try to get whatever pokemon you're aiming for registered in your pokedex fully. For pokemon you don't have registered, the game will generate the pokedex entry upon capture. Acquiring the pokemon before had will save time and allow you to check the stats faster since the game won't show the entry.
In my case rn, I am hunting Mewtwo. I decided to use the Old Man Glitch to capture an extra overleveled Mewtwo to get it registered before attempting my hunt in Cerulean cave, but you could trade with other games or perform other glitches to get the pokemon you desire. That is if it is a legendary or very limited Pokemon anyways. Common pokemon that can normally be found in the wild won't be an issue for obvious reasons lol.

I was resetting in Blue for a strong hitmonlee and happened to get a potential shiny. I hadn't done any duplication so I only had the 13 legitimate rare candies but by calculating the DV ranges at each level and comparing them it's possible to learn the exact numbers at a lower level. For example, if a DV is 9-10 at one level and later 10-11, you know it must be 10. It only took 8 candies to be sure whether I had a shiny or not (I did!)

By naming your file GF, then using the item underflow glitch, it's possible to change your ID until you buy two item of any kind.
The poke transporter only checks ID and name when trasnferring Mew, so you can actually take that Mew to gen 7.
Does anyone know if the trainer fly glitch can stack with this glitch? Because if it doesn't, reset efficiency when hunting for Mew flies out the window faster than a speedrunning Mario.

I was laid up in a hospital bed for a week, during which I got a Lapras with every stat in the right place except (I thought) the attack. I was so tired that I settled and assumed I failed; cut to today and I decided to trade her up to Crystal, just to be sure.
Happy to say that I successfully got a full odds shiny Lapras in Pokémon Blue.

Is there something wrong with pokemon transporter at the moment? Maybe a bug or something. And is it much safer to trade it to gen 2 so it'll become shiny and then use pokemon transporter? You forgot to mention the MIMIC - TRANSFORM glich to get a shiny Ditto
1 - Catch the Red GYARADOS from the Lake of Rage and let him forget every move except LEER
2 - Transfer the shiny GYARADOS from GSC to RB
3 - Teach him MIMIC per TM
    4 - Search for a wild DITTO
5 - Use MIMIC on the DITTO before the uses TRANSFORM to copy his TRANSFORM move
6 - DITTO uses TRANSFORM on your GYARADOS
7 - use LEER until the wild DITTO uses TRANSFORM a second time onto your GYARADOS
8 - Catch the DITTO and transport it to GSC and its shiny
Reason: TRANSFORM copies the DVs of your Pokemon and overwrites its own DVs when used a second time

Don't know if there will be an answer, seeing that this video is about 2 years old. But I'm a tad bit confused on getting a pokemon's dv's. So on serebii I can see what a pokemon's values, like how lapras has:
    130 Hit Points
    85 Attack
    80 Defense
    95 Special
    60 Speed
But in the video at the lapras part it shows that you need dv's of lower values than the ones above. How do you figure out what stats make it a shiny?

    • @ShadowSkyX
      @ShadowSkyX 3 роки тому +1

It was just an example there. but if you want to see what the shiny stat numbers to look for on lapras at level 50, here you go.
      HP: 190 or 198.
      Attack: 93, 94, 96, 97, 100, 101, 104, or 105.
      Defense: 95
      Speed: 75
      Special: 110
At level 15, it will not be nearly accurate but these stats are to looked at further via level up should they align:
      64 or 68
31, 32, 33, 34, 35 (the highest stat in this case is a guaranteed dv is 15 as it doesn't have other unwanted dvs sharing a desired stat like the others. If you see 30 in the Attack stat though, it's an instant no on shiny-ness).
      Defense: 32
      Speed: 26
      Special: 36
