Villaboy; They were smart. Luke said they knew not to plug in a 'Jeff 2.0.' Simon is beyond strong with his own signature style...and he nails the Rosanna shuffle.
If I remember right, they chose Simon in part because of the huge respect that Jeff had for him. In a way that is really cool in the sense that Jeff had a say in who would carry on for him. Simon doesn’t often get the love and respect that he should, but he is clearly one of the worlds greatest drummers. So diverse and adept at playing any style incredibly well. He doesn’t just play drums, he is a lifetime student of them. He is also a gifted engineer and producer. How cool would it be to do a project with him!!!!
Anyone who not just plays, but studies drums and percussion knows that Simon is world class! His styles are limitless, he can play anything as is proven by his VERY long list of studio collaborations. And to top it off, he mastered open handed playing years ago. He is truly a master on the drums!!

I can see the pain on Mike's face but he would not want to be anywhere but on that stage with Lukather et al. showing the world how Bass should be/ must be the center mass of the complete structure of the band. An amazing cat gone too soon. Steve Lukather is a musical Savant of the highest order , a high master of the guitar second to none with few equals. His song writing leaves an immediate impression in my mind whereas I am captive to the melody for days.....his songwriting touches me always. Toto deserves to be recognized as the force of Nature they are....David Paich and Jeff Porcaro found the Musical Mother Lode.
micheal Jackson, the fixx, Aretha Franklin, steely Dan, boz scaggs, Cher, Chicago, David foster, quincy Jones, Ringo star, Paul McCartney and over 6000 others recordings these guys have been on! the greatest of the 70s 80s and 90s that most people do not know they are hearing these guys....
Aren't they great? The lead singers have magnificent voices and the guitar work and drums are killer! Never get tired of listening to them play. Have always wanted to see Toto live. Hopefully, I will go to a concert this year.
It makes me so happy watching this concert! But what makes me even happier is that when you pause at the 56.40 min mark. Check out the person using a mobile phone to let the other person on the line listen to pure awesomeness!!

This show rolled through Salt Lake it was my last chance to see Michael pocaro before things turn for him sadly sadly. They killed it, Simon was ill and didn’t do a solo.

Bobby was a great singer until he became almost deaf in 2012, and not being able to know what he sounds like so don't be mean to him. The other reason he doesn't sound good is because he did a lot of Cocaine back in the day.
@@Bonkled_ Yep, I mean they all did a LOT of "Blow" back in the day, but the lead vocalist is the one who can't get away with the abuse so much 'cos they have to vocally perform night after night and eventually it takes its toll on a vocalist.

I LOVE this show!! It’s such a treat to see Dad singing Angel Don’t Cry and Carmen! ♥️🔥💯
Allison please say hello to your dad from all of us. Bobby sang Fergie and Joseph's songs without any hesitation
I love Jeff but anyone who thinks Simon isn't world class and absolutely amazing needs a psychologist appointment immediately.
Agree, Simon Phillips is the best drummer alive. R.I.P Jeff Porcaro

I love both, however I must say I was always annoyed with how Simon chose to play the main part of "Jake to the bone"

Mike is one of the greatest bassists in the world ever. RIP

Phenomenal Bass Solo by Mike Porcaro on the Song Africa !!

I totally agree re: Lukather. When asked who I think is the best guitarist in the world, I say his name without hesitation!
He is amazing!!!
I don't think Mike Porcaro was ill in 2004 yet. His expression while playing was like this -- pure concentration.
Simon Philips is stunning on drums here live. Toto is a great platform for gifted players. Luke smokin guitar as always.
Steve Lukather is one of my favorite guitarist! Love his sound, and he always seems to click with whatever style he’s playing.♥️♥️♥️

Actually 13:55 is Better World, since that's the way the song starts, it's not Greg's solo.
Thanks for posting this, though!
Luke's solo ( at 24:24 ) includes Michael Landau's " I'm Buzzed " from Mike's " Tales of The Buldge " disc. Landau and Luke are close buddies.

He was, try see now. It is very sad, what happend with him.
Would loved to see a tour with both Bobby and Joseph whilst Bobby still had his voice. Maybe he could have saved it sharing the load.
