lukather ....one of the most underrated guitarists of all time....in my opinion he is an amazing guitar player and no one writes a better ballad than the man...keep it up steve..
And Blue Ivy won a grammy...
Not to mention that there is hardly a hit record from 1979-on that doesn't feature Luke. Music legend, period.
Keeps getting better…. Can’t wait to see more now that Toto is no more….Do like his newest release…😎
Only one word: GREAT 🎸 💪
"Lukather achieved notability in the 1970s and 1980s as one of the most sought-after session guitarists in Los Angeles,[23] playing with a wide range of artists from Aretha Franklin to Warren Zevon.[23][24] He has performed on over 1,500 records spanning 36 years.[16] Music journalist Jude Gold noted, "It's hard to name a guitarist who has had a more prolific and fulfilling career than Steve Lukather.""
He also won 5 grammies - hardly "underrated"! :D
The Candy man album is a must for every musiclover.
Absolutely....I play drums to that many times...
@@bradallmand2841where is the best place to find that record. I play keys drums and guitar. Would love to learn that stuff .
Agree. This is a desert island album fot sure.
@@jeffconley819 I know :)
Absolutely
Just like Toto, the wealth of talent in Los Lobotomys was absolutely staggering. What a phenomenal clip.
I attended this show back then in Groningen!
I was allowed to get backstage, and we had a great afterparty!
I had a nice chat with my favourite drummer Simon Phillips, and got a new pair of his drumsticks! ✌️🤠💥🌟🌀🌐
Simon Phillps is just amazing for polyrhythms and odd time signatures. Lukather is one of my favorite and most influential electric guitar players. The guy can compose some of the best ballads and his vocals are just pitch perfect and has complete mastery. Remember people this is before 1997 (auto tune)
Luke sounded better than ever playing with Simon Phillips. Such magic chemistry.
you all probably dont care at all but does someone know of a method to get back into an instagram account?
I stupidly forgot my password. I would love any assistance you can offer me
@Wayne Bruno Instablaster ;)
Totally. Simon rocks these odd times seamlessly. Superb dynamics.
Totally agree!
I love it even when Luke and Simon play on a recorder. The base player is also top level.
What an artist. He sang and played like a beast. The band sounds very good. Thanks for sharing
Luke and Simon: these guys are absolutely awesome. The "problem" is that this is "music for musicians". These guys (all band members) have such a rich reference pool, chops, talent and great creative ideas that they can throw a lot of other styles into the rock mix (jazz-fusion, funk, blues.....), that's very likely what bothers any fans of more traditional "pure" rock music. Doesn't bother me at all. But that is very likely why Luke and Simon never show up on any "best" list. They should!!!!
I was there. A night I'll never forget.
Luke & Simon on “freedom”. Drop dead stunning! Insanely talented! Everyone in the band is phenomenal! ❤
These guys are so freakin good it’s not fair! It’s hair raising performance!,,
Can’t believe it’s been 30 years wow I’ve seen them live in the small club in Sweden stood front of a Steve with my mate what a gig it was.
Was it at the KB in Malmö? I saw them there.
You think Simon Phillips can't get any better until you find another video of him and realise: "Oh shit, he can!"
You should see him playing nowadays. That man just can't stop improving on himself.
Peter Featherstone - spot on!
One of THE CLEANEST cats l ever done see'd!! One of MY all-time faves.
steve and simon what team
@@vergon6662 super clean but not at all sterile.. so good
What a band, what a tour - saw them three times, still in the top 10 of my all time favourite concerts...
Heard Joe Satriani on a radio show recently, talking about the G3 tour of 2012 where he, Steve Vai and Luke did the thing together. He said, and I quote, "Steve Lukather is the finest guitarist he has ever met,.."
I've had the opportunity to listen Steve Lukather in México, in the G3 tour, since the moment the group started playing "Hero with a thousand eyes", immediately the crowd turned crazy af!!!!!
Magic moment!!!!
Cuando vino a México que no supe,me lo perdí no puede ser,
@@sasenahvalquiria8847 vino en 2012, estuvo bueno el conciertazo, con decirte que lo tuve a escasos metros de distancia al sr. Lukather.
@@jesusgomezmartinez2907 que envidia me lo perdi
Simon Phillips..... burning more calories per minute than Angus Young.
Fuck yeah !
More than AC/DC!
On fire.
This is music perfection! You cant get any better than Steve Lukather and Simon Phillips! Garfield and Pena did great as well!...My only complaint as a singer was there were no harmony vocals, especially on the crescendo chorus part of "Hero with a thousand eyes", as that just woulda added so much to it!
The studio version is so much more plain overall. Maybe they recorded it in a bit of a haste, but man Pena and folks added some juicy stuff in it here.
Luke on Freedom is like, "Hmmmm? Maybe the best on Planet Earth? That ol classic/great Hendrix stuff's not that easy to play and he always just blazes right thru em while singin his a** off! Whay a Play'a and showman huh!! And tone hes always gotten out of his Music Man Guit's!! Phew!!!!!!! Simon Phillips has always been in my Top 5 drummers that are alive!
OMG.Amazing Show in Herford as well. I´ll never forget.😎🤘
Of course the music is awesome as always, having seen Toto last weekend in concert...the hair just makes me laugh. I could watch Steve L. play a ukulele and enjoy it.
I sometimes forget what beast of a drummer Simon is. then I watch this and I'm back on track.
The band really nailed it. Superb performance!
Ce qui est surprenant , c'est l'apparente sérénité du public devant une telle démonstration de technique et un tel SON .
Musicalement
@L'1♫♪
un super live avec de très bon musiciens au top !
Ils sont supers ! merci pour leurs talents
C'est clair! Ils dorment! Ou écoutent religieusement les génies au choix. Je serai en transe perso😉
A pleasure to watch.the band are so tight and Luke personally was on fire early 90s.
Watching the lady in the front row at 49:18 try to dance to a 17/8 time signature made my evening
Dude I own this DVD and every single time I laugh at her!!
@@porcaro4ever Don't! She has the feel!! This song has so much groove.
This is the best I've ever heard, as a processional drummer of too many years.
One of the best tour of ever. Luke in super form, a stratospheric band!
Saw five of the shows at the Candyman tour and the music is 20 years down the lane just as AWESOME! Thanx for posting this!
48:33 Simon Phillips most memoriable Moment ever! every Musician knows this move!
Yes, haha.. the move at 37:36 is brilliant as well (after what he did last few minutes)... "Done, easy as pie.. on to the next gig!"
And then you pick another stick out of your bag and it feels like shit and you’re rooting around for another one. He did that too. Pro!
@@JorisHoltackers And Luke’s effect’s center says F*** me 😂
@@nickavenoso7851 Haha, typo... I meant to say at 57:36 😂
@@JorisHoltackers He just finishes playing, put’s his sticks down, and then is like well that’s it.
damn good concert ... thx for the upload
Fantastico concerto di un gruppo di musicisti strepitosi capeggiati dalla musical-machine Steve Lukater , GRAZIE DI ESISTERE !
I saw them on that tour in 1994 in Cologne. One of the biggest inspirations of my life and still my favorite album. Fantastic!!!
Simon is such a clean player, you got to love his discipline
Dismemberment - awesome performance. Synth-solo by David Garfield and Luke's guitar - amazing. Thanks for posting.
that energy i love it🔥🔥
This is one of the most beautiful live that I’ve seen until now! It’s like a drug.. I keep coming to see this again!
Lukathers Candyman is his bestfor me and one of the best albums ever. That tour was amazing, never seen Lukather have so much fun again
This album, this line up are like no other. Period.
Man, that drummer!! :D Talk about musical!
The great Simon Phillips! One of my favorites drummers of all time.
No one exited about the bass and key player? I think they are also monsters.
David Garfiedls played anywhere! TOP LA session man, like all of them. Pena is an amazing bass player.
Everyone on that stage are amazing musicians
49:06 Lol. Every musician on that stage is great, like Greg said.
*Excited*, yeah
Don't know exactly what guitar rig Luke was using here but...this is some of the BEST live guitar tone I've ever heard from him! Wow.
Steve, you sound f'ing great!
I remember their concert in Malmö well. They had been sick to their stomachs in Germany, but still made it on stage.
Really good, almost brutal, concert, but I think the man behind the keyboards didn't fit in. Would like to remember that they also changed instruments with each other.
Although it has been approx. 30 years since the concert, it still feels clear today: The sound engineer blew up all the decibels and gave me permanent tinnitus.
I love this " non falsetto" voice of steve lukater .
Whatever great and amazing set❤
fantastic concert! Thanks so much for posting this.
Drummer
SIMON PHILLIPS!!!
+MaRy BaZz master !!
Not fits Mr: Porcaro`s shoes !
MaRy BaZz ❤️🥁🎪
Luke you are my favorite!!Thank you for everything!!!
THANK YOU for posting this!!!!!
Luke in Top Form!! Great Band.. i have that DVD 1994 Ohne Filter. in German TV:-)
I do too I was just posting about it. Popa Chubby has a good one too. I was trying to figure out when I got it on dvd. I know it was a few yrs at the least after 2003.
WOW! Great Music from GREAT musicians!
Damn so freaking good!
Thanks for posting. Great sound! I have it on VHS, but this is something else.. 😋
Never Walk Alone is so incredibly awesome. Reminds of me of another great guitarist, Robin Trower.
Guess what, Luke is doing a cover of Bridge Of Sighs on his upcoming solo album.
@@flops0317 Oh wow. that should be awesome.
4 amazing musicians playing!
You made my day with this one Gabriele.
Mucho Gracias, what a guitar player, and the band is great. S.P. is a real inspiration.
Saw this group twice: Paradiso Amsterdam and Parkpop The Hague.
Bonjour Hi "incrédibule" ", just Great 🎶 music, performer's thank's to Simon Philippe is one of a Wonderful drumer. 👍 🎵
Steve is sooo special. He's not my favorite guitar player, but he is my favorite composer of power ballads, and definetly top 5 on my list of players. Such beautiful sophisticated phrasing. And not to mention a great voice.
Excellent concert. Loved the album, now I was able to watch them perform. Thanks for posting
Очень Нравится этот Концерт 👍👍👍🔥🔥🔥🔥
I remembered when my drummer who was a huge Steve Lukather fan let me to go into Große Freiheit 36 and i heard him for the first time and thought, man, that is everything but cleaned music, no wonder that Rick likes him so much, amazing musician!
Great band & amazing album!! Most underrated band. I wonder of Luke had most of these songs ready for the next Toto album after their brilliant masterpiece Kingdom Of Desire.
The 5.1 DVD of the album is staggering - i listen to the centre track on its own and the guitar with no effects, especially on Song For Jeff is breathtaking. Hell of an album and band.
Where i can find this without efects?
@@alexandermelendez3951 You need to buy the DTS 5.1 DVD of the album. It came out in about 2002. Then you need a special tool to extract the individual channels and then a way of converting that channel to a mono track to play back on its own. That's the lossless way.
Song for Jeff isn't on this DVD
Totally amazing... lukather by far best guitarist ever to grace ears..... watch this back in the day when i was learning to play the drums in hopes to pick up some tips!!...... 😫...
That's a lot of talent on that stage! Sounding Great!
Simon Philips is a genius! Ninja!
SIMON PHILLIPS!!!!!!............The "collaboration brotherhood" of Luke and Simon, ironically brought on by Jeff's passing (Always R.I.P. Jeff) was huge for the both of them and TOTO and for all of us followers/fans and fellow musicians. BTW did Luke and "The Creature" ever bury the hatchet? Los Lobotomys really starts with the two of them. R.I.P. Jeff and long live Luke and Simon!!
I am sad Simon left Toto but I am grateful he took Jeff's throne for many years. He definitely brought a fresh style in the band and never felt Jeff was missing although I miss him immensely.
..... SIMON PHILLIPS !! ...ES UN GENIO .....
This drummer is blowing my mind. He has serious cardio rhythm
これって、2daysか2本撮りを繋いでるんですよね。でも、それがちょっと判らない位正確で、しかもエモーショナルな演奏と来てる。
彼らは最高でス! (^o^)/~
Never walk alone, énormissime !
Whoah dude!!! What in the actual fork just hit me??? Where did these guys come from? I just wanted to search for a good cover of Hendrix's "Freedom" and this guy came up. And THAT set knocked me on my ass. What else would I do but look him up to find more of his music? I'd heard his name before and for some reason incorrectly associated him to The Heartbreakers. I'd heard some of Toto's music and never really got into it so I wouldn't have caught on to him. It turns out this band was packed with talent so it looks like I'll be revisiting that band to see what I missed all those years ago. Well who the fonk would have though you can find more that fap flix and COVID news on the interwebs now!?!? It looks like I've found a new musical journey to travel on now. The musicians in this band are all amazing! I didn't even recognize Simon Phillips!
This so good, my bass melted in the corner of the house!
Saw this tour in 94 at marquee london, mega gig, Nicko Mcbrain was there when leaving such a nice guy
best rock concert ever! Luke at his best!
**ONE BAD MUTHERFUKER** STEVE IS ALIVE AND WELL*** *WAITING TO MAKE THE BIGGEST COMEBACK* *CATER*
I feel giddy every time I listen to this! This is why I love music!
simon phillips was my inspiration
A solid performance / awesome drummer
Amazing that he was only 19 when he recorded Hold the Line.
Have the cd but never knew this video existed until today , saw toto the following year at Leeds UK tambu tour brilliant !!!
What an interesting hybrid style. These guys covered so many types of music 😳 This concert was a fantastic experience. Thanks for sharing 👍
Oh yes..! And Simon Phillips is the name of the sound wall behind the band 😃👌❤️👍
Thanks very much for this wonderfull upload!👏👏👏💓
I saw this band at the KUZ in Mainz/Germany in 94. One of the best Gigs I´ve ever been.
I found it on reissue live cd from music on cd and I could not believe it really existed, super!!
GOLD!!!!!!!
wow! hero with a 1000 eyes riff is too tasty to get enough of!
So glad I found this! Amazing players!
