The really sad part is that Tsukki's brother is actually a very good player, being the ace of a middle school team and shown when he's able to receive the ball straight into the basketball hoop. The Karasuno roster at that time was just so deep that even someone as skilled and passionate as him was relegated to not even suiting up during games, essentially relegated to practice squad.
Tsukki's attitude of "if I don't really invest in it, I don't have to worry about being devastated if it doesn't work out" is pretty common, and a bit relatable. If I tell myself I wasn't that serious about it in the first place, failure has a much smaller impact.
Tsukki's character development is actually one of my favorite well written part of haikyuu. Its just so real and relatable coz a lot of people especially younger people are so afraid to try hard, to get out of their comfort zone and basically let themselves be eaten by pessimissm rather than risk the devastation of failure. Fear of failure is something we can apply to a lot of things in our own lives so it always seems like running away/not trying is a better suited option to protect ourselves.
We see how Tsukki is very guarded, he built this whole defense mechanism like sarcasm, not trying to hard, just settling with average, so he can cope and avoid all situations out of his control. Plus he had seen the proof of the pain and trauma his brother went thru so it validates his attitude and personality. But not risking anything to avoid failure also means that he's missing out on success, it makes him STUCK and stagnant with his ways. I love him coz this was me in middle/ highschool and now I do have a lot of regrets as a grown adult that I wish I did back then if only I wasn't so scared and felt inferior to everyone else. I just stuck with being average, and that's no fun!

This was one of my favorite episodes! I've been waiting for this. keep it up!
Bokuto’s freaking awesome! It was after reading the manga for me that he became one of my favorite characters.
I cannot wait for their reaction to that moment😅
Just an fyi, you can watch the openings and endings of this anime, they don't over spoil it like most would😅
Until this part of the anime, Nishinoya was my favorite character. With the development that Tsukishima has and will have, it is no longer such an easy decision.
GUCCI BOY MVP
