Do you think EMDR can help resolve this constant fear of choking (ptsd)? After it Happened I've been stuck in this trauma response with intense symptoms abs anxiety surrounding it, especially since it happened while driving. Hoping and praying I can get back to not worrying about it like before. Crazy how literally anything can traumatize someone and ruin their life!

Since it’s on line ….what level of privacy do clients have to ensure that their sessions stay private? Thanks so much for this very helpful information !❤️

Hi: the website has a page on their privacy policies. They do not sell or rent emails with others. The information you log onto the platform can also be fairly limited - notes for yourself so you keep track don’t have to say too much…. I agree that with the online world this is always tricky. Even with medical doctors and insurance, so much is online and I don’t get to choose what…with this site nothing g is being shared with other doctors or insurance…. If their privacy policy doesn’t provide enough info, you can also email them. Hope that is helpful!

My trained therapist used EMDR with me and had good results. The first few traumas we addressed had intense emotions attached to them but my numbers went progressively down. When we got to the last few traumas the initial emotion I experienced was much. intense than when making my trauma list. My numbers also went down rapidly. Is this normal or was I not putting in the same effort I was at first. Yes I have a problem with perfectionism. To me it seemed that my brain had become used to the process (familiar with it) and it was no longer scared of it. Maybe the positive results from former sessions with other traumas made my brain expect a positive experience and result. Many of my trauma issues were blended and happened over a long period of time in a dysfunctional family. Can this be typical?

Correction. As we progresses to deal with traumas the initial emotions were LESS intense. We were going from earliest remembered to more recent ones.

Hi: I have found that the earliest traumas and the first ones processed are the most intense. When those “core” traumas are processed, it seems to “flow through” to all the others, and sometimes the later traumas don’t even need to be processed! So I can’t be sure from your note, but it sounds like a typical process - with good results, no?

Is the programme available in the UK? - how would charging work in respect of currency exchange i.e. Dollars to UK Sterling? Many thanks

Hi: Yes, it can be accessed worldwide. Usually if you pay with a card, your bank does the currency exchange. Hope that is helpful!

I have been looking for a trauma therapist who does EMDR for years.

Me too. I’ve had my insurance company and every therapist and psychiatrist I’ve seen for the last 6 years look for an emdr specialist that’s 1. Accepting patients and 2. Will be covered by my insurance or work on a sliding fee scale so I can afford to go. I’ve been told for years that it will help my CPTSD but I have had no luck.

I agree this is a real problem… the emdria.org website might be helpful, but yes, many therapists are full these days and we need more well trained emdr therapists.
