RIP Irish...This was my favorite group. So close to SWV's range. I wish you guys made more music still. We need that real R&B again
They were like a younger version of SWV with a slight hip hop edge. Also because the lead singer carried the group vocally, same with SWV
Meelah didnt carry, she came into the group later.@@craigjones1946
RITEE💯💯💯
They were better than SWY. No disrespect, but SWV never made anything close to being this funky.
@@lamontewilliams203idk, SWV “Your the one” is pretty close to atleast in my opinion
I miss 702! I miss buying CD’s, the smell of the booklet on the inside, reading who wrote and produced the song... THE PICTURES!! And if you were lucky the lyrics ... 90’s were everything

Rest in eternal peace Irish! Still stunned to hear her passing. I was hoping she gets better soon. I didnt know she been sick for a very long time and on serious medical leave since last December. Born in 1990, I am telling yall right now, that music makes me feel more proud to be born in the 90s . Best times of my childhood. I was 6 years old when 702 had came out. I am 33. Been loving them when I was a little girl. They did this theme song from classic Nickeledeon's show'' Cousin Skeeter''.I missed those times so badly-when life was simple for me. Nowdays, eveything gone down drastically. Thats why 90s still on my mind everyday 24/7. Bring back the 90s! 702 will always be my favorite group of all time. I feel kinda bad since I never got a chance to see Irish. She will be missed
I totally agree. Am exactly the same age too. ;) yeah. So true. Irish will truly be missed. Her music and legacy will always be alive in the lives of everyone; her family friends fans around the world and every heart and soul she touched. She will always live in the music world. God bless her soul.
I'm 33 as well, but I had never heard this until last week, and Cousin Skeeter and other memories just hit. ❤
Best times
The reason why the 90's was the best time for Black music is because every group and individual artist had their own unique sound and style. Nobody sounded the same. Nowadays every female artist wants to look and sound like Beyoncé. Every rapper wants to sound like lil wayne or drake or whatever. Everybody looks and sounds alike. This is why the music and the artistry is so poor these days. And back then you actually had to know how to sing to be a lead singer. You didn't have to look like Beyoncé to be a lead singer.
Kysha Cummings you deserve more upvotes.
Kysha Cummings exactly back in the day it was about talent and substance. now only superficial stuff is glorified.
i miss the 90's. :(
we're in a world today, where the masses have been dumb down considerably since back then, and every since youtube came out and it have gotten worse ALOT quicker. wtf is a "selfie" sounds retarded.
All 90's groups looked and sounded alike.
*****Nope! Boys 2 Men didn't sound like Jodeci, Jodeci didn't sound like Silk, maybe you think they dressed a like cause it was the style that was in, but saying they all sound a like not at all. New Edition didn't sound like any of them, they all had their own style just like TLC didn't sound like SWV, you can easily tell the difference between Ment Condtion and Tony Toni Tone maybe thats just us, we knew the differences between all of them.
This song makes me realize how pro black Nickelodeon was back in the day! (Bare with me) but this was the Cousin Skeeter theme song, Coolio did the Keenan and Kel theme song, they had mad shows with main characters who were black.
I know right, it's cool how Nickelodeon was promoting music and dont forget All That musical guest that helped get some artists more fame.
All that's theme was TLC too
Plus the Rugrats song "Take Me There".
Back When Nickelodeon and Disney Was Black
Pro black but they only gave My Brother and Me(the only fully black sitcom on the network) one season. Cousin Skeeter didn’t come until 97 but My Brother and Me was awesome and the y cancelled it after one season.
R.I.P. Orish ('(08) & Irish ('23) 🥺. #gonetoosoon
Continue to rest easy Queen Iris Grinstead. Everyone says that “Where My Girls At” was their biggest hit, but this joint right here put them on the map and it still goes hard in 2024.
JESUS CHRIST these were the days when Tim & Missy wrote one amazing song after the other. So happy and blessed that I lived through the amazing 90s. 😂
me too so proud to jam o this record
Saw Timba on the Daily Show the other day and felt so happy to see him still doing well for himself after he brought so much joy to my formative years.
Hey call me crazy, but I'm sure there was a version of this with Notorious BIG. Please correct me if I'm wrong.. Thanks
Richie Daniel AMEN TO THAT BLESSING ALL COMMENTS!!::))

Everything about the song and video encapsulates growing up as teen in the 90s...our generation was different in a good way. We have LOVE and respect for our artists. 702 are LEGENDS...4 Ever!
Even tho I wasn’t a teen in the 90s I see the difference and wish I was
Not only did Missy Elliott's produce this track, it was one of her greatest collaborations of her career. 🔥🔥🔥💯
Facts she did her shit in this video
She wrote the song too
Top 30
❤❤❤❤❤ yes I rocked this every morning while getting dressed for school/work! 💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽
Missy's verse is Michael Jackson Badd...
When Meelah comes in with the "I'm gonna keep it real" CHILLS!!!
Sounded kinda like Coco at the beginning of this song
@@natashasanyu8759 her and Cocoa are necc and necc with the Vocals they got similar riffs and runs but Meelah has a confidence about her that does things to me 😍 she so cute and Chocolate too
Right! Her vocals remind me of Lil Mo's vocals.
Hell yeah! 💃 🕺🏾🎶 still slaps!
Every time!
No question the 90's RnB were magical ❤
RIP Irish. Man Missy is such a legend. That verse was too dope.
Im 49 and I tell young people today. They missed out on the best era of music the 90s early 2000
Demetrius Ladson all of us ain’t missing out. A lot of us appreciate that era’s music more than our own. I was born in 95 and I’m happy that I know music from the 70’s and up.
but im listening to it now... >:)
I was born in 99 and best believe my family still plays all that lol I definitely didn’t miss out

RIP Irish! Thank you for your contributing to music and R&B/Pop. You will be missed! 💕💕💕
The beat, the hook, the bridge, Irish’s vocal adlibs, absolutely one of the best R&B joints of the mid-90s! RIP Irish Grinstead.
Can you believe they were like 16 at this time! OMG they act and look like they're in they're 20s
Meeshah and Kameelah were both born in 1978. Iris was born in 1980, so yeah, she was 16, while the short-haired girl and the lead singer were both 18.
alex3373 we were in a much, much better state of being back then, hence: younger girls had a natural mature way that they carried them selves back then.
+alex3373 Yeah young artists had a much more mature style and sound back then.
James Kibirige yup even the female MCs lil Kim and foxy was 16-17 😂🎤rapping and shit making CDs like hardcore & Fox B calling her pussy the Ill Nana 😂
Damn, all the members of 702 were gorgeous!
Ife's Voice yes they were. Natural queens for sure.

YEEES THEY ALL WERE.
BEAUTIFUL BLACK QUEENS FOR SURE
**1990s** BEAUTIFUL.. Oh how I miss this era

SuperFunkykool. Let's not forget that they were NATURALLY BEAUTIFUL.

I can only hope :( this was great to watch but also made me sad....
The only way that will happen is if you take away the internet.people were in their own wprld back then before all the sites floodednthe internet
Tirrell25 I agree, when there wasn't so much technology, ppl were much more creative ... back then it was forbidden to copy and paste someone's else's style lol now it's encouraged to be unoriginal or at least it feels that way

this song was mixed to perfection, it's sounds so good in the car
Especially that bass thump behind the beat dam 🔥
Sayless I love these comments, loved the beat but I’m a car smh I can’t wait now
Its that James Brown Big Payback sample, synthbass, and spars chords
No weak ass samples... just raw music and beats
@@inmyOWN_worldThe sample all the way through is 'Shadows In The Rain' by The Police.
Why does music of this Era make me feel so emotional?
BRIANJAVIER me too bro....
Cause we dont hear this type of music anymore, and it brought back beautiful memories of happiness
Cuz music back then had soul, which is what a lot of music now lacks.
BRIANKEYBOARD because we'll never get it again

The background dancers were so dope in this video 🔥🔥🔥

And clothed. Back then it wasn't about shaking your ass, flipping your hair, and bending over. You had real dancers of all colors and shaped.
They ALL were, back in the 90's, the good ole days when the dance moves were hard, in your face type of moves and hardly any twerking.
