- While I was writing my thesis I had to make an Appendix so I read up on making automated Appendix and it helped a lot especially when writing a huge report. In this video I go over the simple steps in making custom automated appendix headings. If you are writing a paper that requires an Appendix make sure to watch this video!

Hello, there, I have no idea if you are still around but I just want to thank you sincerely for this video- this helped me make appendix for my research- very grateful.
This is the most useful instructions for appendix, thank you
I'm glad it helped. To change the numbering, you first have to make a new section by going to the Page Layout Tab and selecting Breaks>>New Page (under Section Breaks). Then double click the Insert Tab and go to Page Numbers>> Page Number Format. Change the format to i, ii, iii, and start at i. Hope this helps! I may actually do a video on this later :)
Huge thanks! It saved me hours. If you ever pass from Marathasa mountains in Cyprus I will buy you many drinks!! Let me know! Regards, Γ
Wow!
Thank you. This was very straightforward and I appreciate it. I haven't done this in ages and this info was just what I needed to job my memory.
nice video dude. Very helpful and straight to the point
wonderful information thanks alot keep it up
Just to let you know, Appendices is plural (the whole Appendices), Appendix is singular, so the Appendices will have multiple Appendix entries.
Nice walk through though (apart from later version of MS office not having the save selection as new quick style)
After 11 years still hot
no problem! I'm glad I could help :)
Chances are people might want that Appendix in a table separate from my Table of Contents..
you saved me a lot of time. super thanks
Still helps in 2020. Thanks!
This doesn't work for me. The appendices did not add to the table of contents, perhaps because I used automatic chapter numbering?
*I need research paper writing service. Please recommend.*
I've ordered essay at *essay.b0a.all-about.in*. I just didn't realize how much time my essay would take... When I understood it, it was almost too late. Luckily, I have found this site that wrote my essay in 5 hours, and it was just great! There must be real professionals working for the company.
Haha that's totally not you promoting your own service..nah

How do you make your appendix's show a different page number like; App. 1 (for page 1) App. 2 (for page 2)?
thank you for the video, but do you know how to change the style of its page numbering to i ii iii?
Page numbering has nothing to do with the TOC.
1 . Create a new section.
2. Then go to the header / footer tools.
3. Adjust your page numbering settings there.
(Please look for a different video that will provide the steps in detail.)
That was fantastic. Thank you.
Right to the point. thanks
How can we remove the page numbers for Appendices?
And also not show any page number of appendix on Table of Contents
Hi, im trying to write some data straight after putting the appendix A/B/C... but it always comes up as the same style as the appendix. How do i change this to just normal writing? Or do i only have the option to write it below?
Thanks for asking. It appears text on the same header line will still be a header, but you can highlight specific text and change the font/style etc. So change the font but not the heading as it will make the entire line the same heading. Hope this helps!
Hi, great video. How can I make my new appendix headings visible so that I can use the cross-reference function from the References ribbon tab to link to them?
Hi I'm glad you like the video. The headings should be visible in the cross-reference function. You may have to select the Headings option in the cross-reference function. Let me know if you can find that.
Hi, they're not. All the other headings: Heading 1, Heading 2, Heading 3 etc. show up and I can reference captions in the appendix section but I can't see any of the Appendix headings.
Is there something I need to enable to make the new headings visible?
I created them following your steps, they are based on Heading 1, 2 and 3.
hcloete12345 hmmm that seems strange. The appendix section shows up on mine and I didn't have to do anything extra. I will look into it further for you.
+Math Easy Solutions I know it's been a whole year but a quick search of the internet reveals! .......
Microsoft says that they don't support user-made styles appearing in their cross-reference function. :c Just thought I'd reply in case anyone else was wondering.
I solved this problem by using a pre-made style and making the "Appendix 1" heading 1 style and the content title (e.g. "Raw Data") heading 2 style then manually changing the font size to what I wanted. Then, as a final step after updating the ToC I manually removed the numbers and bullets next to the "Appendix 1" heading in the ToC. For the cross-referencing part it now showed up on the list but inserted the cross-reference at a large size. I manual changed the cross-reference font size by using Ctr-Space (a shortcut that sets text to "normal").
Hope this helps people!
+bluwaterdragoon oh wow thanks for solving this! Sorry I didn't have the time to further review this case but I'm glad you shared your solution for others to see! =D
Thanks.
Hi! Just made a donation because this was really helpful, but I need more help: My appendices are sourced elsewhere and therefore have different formats (headers, etc.) I want the HEADING (not Header/Footer) to be the title of the appendix so that I can link to the title of the appendix (not the numbered appendix) in the body of the report without worrying about the sequencing of the appendices AND I don't want page numbers assigned to the "appendices" under the ToC. So, genius, what's the best way to do that?
Thanks for the donation!! It is very much appreciated :)
When I get some time I will try to solve your Appendix puzzle. In the meantime just so to clarify:
1) What do you mean by sourced elsewhere?
2) What do you mean by Heading and not header/footer?
Also, as for linking to the title of the appendix you can follow my videos below on captions below but for your case when cross-referencing captions, select the "Paragraph text" on the "Insert reference to option".
Automated Captions: ua-cam.com/video/c27SvtI0XXM/v-deo.html
Appendix Captions: ua-cam.com/video/w7UF4m8PjkM/v-deo.html
I hope these help and I will get back to you when I can answer the other parts of your comment!
