    For two weeks solid I have made every effort possible to change our home from a commercialized home to place of homesteading. You are on in the background constantly and I've caught up on every one of your videos. You are now my mother. I'm old enough to be yours but whatever...THANK YOU! I can barely grown my own nails and now I'm planting, canning, buying chickens...you name it! You are a blessing!

    Dehydrating onions, garlic, or spicy peppers also works well if you put the front of the dehydrator against the window screen so it vents to the outside.

    I saw this video last yr and so i decided to try dehydrating some onions....omg!!!! The flavor of home dehydrated onions are amazing, nothing like what you get in the stores. I then decided to do the same with celery, eqyally amazing. I will never buy store bought again. I even gifted my adult daughter, and my 3 adult sons, including my mom a small half pint of each. Then i started getting request for more!! They absolutely love them. So everytime we make a trip back home to Tennessee (currently living in Maryland) I always take them all couple jars of each.

    Just discovered this and thought I’d share if it might help others. If you have a convection oven, you may have a dehydrator button on your oven!
    My oven temp is 150F minimum but the dehydrator option allows me to go down to 100F and blows a fan. I literally just figured this out 30 minutes ago and I immediately harvested some kale and am now dehydrating for green powder! 😊

    • @LurkerSmurf
      @LurkerSmurf 3 роки тому +1

    I have the same dehydrator, it's amazing, so much better than the nesco I first bought, hated switching trays so often, it's worth the price to just walk away and not think about switching trays, added unnecessary stress. I live in Wisconsin, I did with onions like I do with other plants and started indoors 🤦next year I'm hoping to be less dumb, still new to this lol we have had a drought all summer here, lot of bugs, only the people with a ton of experience have had success in the conditions, oh well, next year will be better 🤞

    Just a quick note !! Made my first homemade sour cream !!! Also onions are my nemesis 🤣😂🤣 I used my harvested seeds and now I have tiny onions but that’s okay I’m going to try to use them as onion sets … I’ve been “learning” onions for years .. my other veg are awesome but onions just don’t get big .. neither do my carrots 🥕 sadly … but I never give up !! Btw .. I wish we lived close because a morning cup of coffee with you would be awesome !! You’re just so positive!! I love it !! I watch you all the time !

    I just did some onions I had left over from canning French onion soup and they were so amazing we decided to do more along with cilantro, parsley, green onions, and hatch chili's. I bought everything at the store on sale this week as I can't get a garden to work for me where I live since we've been sitting at over 115 degrees most of the summer 😣

    I will say, it was the best ravioli I have ever had, and my italian guy friend made the sauce. Yummy!!!

    I love your enthusiasm, you have inspired me so much. I am planning vege beds, herb tubs and buying a dehydrator. Thankyou so much. My seasons are the opposite to yours as I am in Queensland Australia.

    Yay! I’m so excited for another freezer meal video. You have inspired me to start doing them because I start school soon and won’t have the time to cook a lot. Your freezer meals and DITL are my absolute favorite videos to watch on UA-cam.

    I love all the food knowledge you share! Do you gather your knowledge sporadically or do you enjoy focused research and have books/sources/shows you'd recommend? I'm fascinated by all things food science and am always looking for more! Your channel is super refreshing!

    I LOVE your dehydrator! I have just your basic one. My husband gave it to me for Christmas about 7 years ago. I need to get at least a 5 tray like yours!
